The 1965 silver dime is another example of a coin that must have more extant examples, maybe sitting in a coffee can in someone's garage or in a storage shed or something. What about 1966 silver dimes? The Mints were still striking silver coins all the way into 1966 with the 1964 date frozen on those coins. It's easy to imagine silver planchets getting mixed in with the clad ones during that time period.
@@christophersimpson3642 That was the only time I seen it too, never forget it. My mom used to drag me to yard sales when I was a kid, and I remember the album being in a bunch of books, the coins are not in good shape at all, but it was a full album, got it for $6.50!
So I have actually come to know people who toss dimes because of their size. "They're so small it isn't worth keeping track of them." I think that is idiotic personally but hey. So, it makes total sense to me why these coins would be disappearing so fast. Personally, I've never _loved_ dimes, but only ten make a dollar so you bet I keep 'em. As for pre-clad dimes, I think I only have a couple. I'll have to go through my personal coins eventually and see. Guess I've got some dimes to look through! Another coin I find from time to time in the junk 90% bins at my lcs is the type b reverse Washington quarter. They're more common than any dd or such error but still fun to find.

I go to my shop n just get the Mercurys all the time. I think today I'll go check out the Roosevelt's lol. Thanks for the video Daniel!
Dimes are great for silver hoarding. They are worth a dollar. Don’t take a lot of room and if the green back ever collapsed how easy it would be to pay for things with a pocket full of little silver pieces but I guess I should start looking into varieties
Very interesting video Daniel. I wonder if it's location or something else but I have never found a silver Rosie. I've gone through boxs of dimes always check my change but can't find one. I've found a Merc in a roll once but no Rosie. We are very thin on coin shops down here and I don't think I've ever seen a Roosevelt in one of the cases, I'll have to ask for the junk silver bin. I guess out of site out of mind.
You're right about these coins being longshots to find, but imagine how many more are out there. So many people (like me) have jars full of loose change that has been untouched for years. I read about a 1959 cent which was supposed to have the new Memorial reverse but instead had the old wheat ears reverse. It is considered a "mule". If the dies were mistakenly (or even intentionally) set up to strike mule coins, do you think only one would be struck? It doesn't make sense. How about the 1969S doubled die cents? Dies aren't removed from service after only striking a handful of coins. There HAVE to be more 1969S doubled dies and 1958 doubled dies and 1975 dimes without a mint mark, and many other lesser errors.
I agree but once they find a doubled die they go through the coins to get out the doubled coins, but they miss some. I still think there's more to be found.
This was a good video Daniel. Even dealers tend to gloss over the roseys. I have a buddy with a shop nearby in Toledo and he puts all his AU / UNC Roosevelt’s in a tray and sells them for a small premium. I’ve been wanting to go through them as I have a small credit there. I think you just talked me into it!
Thank you for all your videos! They really help me out. I was wondering, are coins from the West Pointe mint a thing? In the decade of the 90s are there really dimes produced with a W on them instead of S, P or D?
In 1996 there was a 1996-W Dime made that was included with the annual uncirculated mint set to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the design-which you can read about here news.coinupdate.com/west-point-roosevelt-dime-celebrated-fiftieth-anniversary-3160/ In 2015 the mint released a special March of Dimes silver set limited to 75,000 which included a 2015-W Dime. www.coinworld.com/news/precious-metals/top-10-stories-of-2015--special-dimes-with-special-finishes.html
Great video my Mrs. Wanted to take the dimes and nickle portion of our collection on her own. Great video for her. Now any recommendations on microscopes. Lol thanks Daniel
I tell the people that buy the 90% coins to pick out good ones most people buy them and put them in a big sack my friends neighbor was sick he was helping him out until he passed away so he gave my friend three 50 pound bags of 90% to cash in for him can only imagine what was in those bags
Hi Daniel, as a coin dealer with a shop, what is the most popular 90% silver coin among stackers? In the video you seemed to indicate that Walkers and Franklins are the most wanted of all the 90%, is that true based on your experience over the years?
I love to see u videos!!!!! I just start to collect coins so i don't know to much about coins but i learning with u videos!!!! And i want to know if the make dimes with the s in circulation cuz i have 1 1075 s
It's hard enough to find a doubled die coin in Mint State condition as it is. A coin in Good, Very Good or worse condition usually has all the Die Markers worn off of it by then.
Yeah i find it difficult to keep them because i don't care for them. I give them away in my live streams lol Great info tho I may just hang on to the ones i have after watching yr vid :) GL &HH
1946 through 1964 is statistically recognized as the Baby Boom demographic (with 1957 having the highest number of births). Interesting. Is this somehow related?

In Canada, the government is withdrawing any nickels minted before 1981 to reclaim the nickle content, to then turn around and make new nickels which are now nickle-plated steel (junk). HOW will this impact the prices of old nickles in coin collections? Is anyone tracking how many coins are being melted down?

I agree but once they find a doubled die they go through the coins to get out the doubled coins, but they miss some. I still think there's more to be found.
Thanks for the information my friend 👍
Guess ill take another peek at my dimes. Thanks for the information
In 1996 there was a 1996-W Dime made that was included with the annual uncirculated mint set to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the design-which you can read about here

In 2015 the mint released a special March of Dimes silver set limited to 75,000 which included a 2015-W Dime.

I pick them up when I can!! I gotta go and pick more up.
Great video my Mrs. Wanted to take the dimes and nickle portion of our collection on her own. Great video for her. Now any recommendations on microscopes. Lol thanks Daniel
I used a loups 10 to 20x
@@CoinHELPu Thank you
I really enjoy these kind of videos.
Its a no brainer that heavily minted coins will be melted and the next generation will benefit from the adults in the room who held them dear.
I tell the people that buy the 90% coins to pick out good ones most people buy them and put them in a big sack my friends neighbor was sick he was helping him out until he passed away so he gave my friend three 50 pound bags of 90% to cash in for him can only imagine what was in those bags
Time to start hunting dimes 😝
mercury dimes have alot of ddo and ddr as well. thats why i asked you about them.
Interesting. Thanks for another informative video.
Great information I'll have to start getting some Roosevelt dimes
Well I got to looking through my constitutional silver and totally found a rpm. Thanks again daniel
You're welcome
Hi Daniel, as a coin dealer with a shop, what is the most popular 90% silver coin among stackers? In the video you seemed to indicate that Walkers and Franklins are the most wanted of all the 90%, is that true based on your experience over the years?
Yes with the exception of silver dollars, they prefer those for the right price.
@@CoinHELPu
Yep, you're right, dollars are always popular the closer to spot you get.
Thanks so much for your update brother
Also if I may add the ddo’s And ddr’s can be easily over llooked sometimes because of the physical size of the coin so one needs to look carefully.
Yes.Under the best magnification!EXCECTIONAL comment ❤
Agree 110%
I love roll hunting.
Great info again Daniel ...thanks again!!
Always great Information Daniel. Thanks for the share sir. Will be keeping an eye out.
Great info thank u
Thank you for the information
I love to see u videos!!!!! I just start to collect coins so i don't know to much about coins but i learning with u videos!!!! And i want to know if the make dimes with the s in circulation cuz i have 1 1075 s
got rolls of dimes all silver i like them they contain more silver than merks, walkers.
It's hard enough to find a doubled die coin in Mint State condition as it is. A coin in Good, Very Good or worse condition usually has all the Die Markers worn off of it by then.
❤❤❤❤❤
I've got a pair of uncirculated '64' Roosevelt dimes. A P and D. Any idea of what they may be worth? Thanks.
I prefer the Merc as a "stacking" coin but I will not snub Roosie's. At WORST they are silver spot or so. I will TAKE them gladly.
Thanks love the information
Roosevelts are definitely the red headed stepchild of u.s. silver coinage.....but....theyre still silver 😎
Yeah i find it difficult to keep them because i don't care for them. I give them away in my live streams lol Great info tho I may just hang on to the ones i have after watching yr vid :) GL &HH
Thank you
Crazy. I would never melt a cull. Its all history to me. BTW, can you do a video on what "burnished" means in regard to 2006 and newer Silver Eagles?
Grading companies made it up the mint says there's no burnished
Sir, I appreciate your videos and of course I have a question. Years ago I purchased a 1969 SMS mint set and the dime has no bands, is it trash?
They only made sms from 64 thru 67 I believe.
It's spendable but not an SMS
@@kennethtimmerman8536 I mistakenly entered 1969 but is actually 1965
No its not trash ! These coins a made diff. Than any other coins .I believe they went thru a 3step process so the finish is unique.
Very good point.
Rosie's are cool. I keep them when i find them
1946 through 1964 is statistically recognized as the Baby Boom demographic (with 1957 having the highest number of births). Interesting. Is this somehow related?
Not that I know off
Many dont know much about varieties, theyre just silver zombies. But thanks for reaching out to them. You've heard of zombucks?
I have a few of the zombucks rounds
Great video again so helpful
thets what ai,m looking fer the roosie dimes no particular dates the ones yer describing is them, ai dont collect coins ai do it fer the silver content,,thumbs-up,,, thank ya fer the video
I don't know
Im overwhelm with hunting for coins, when I get my change I don't want to get rid of them until I check them under the scope. Tired
Its not easy ,gets frustrating and not counting the vast knowledge it takes but preserverince willpay off .
Very interesting
I've got several where Roosevelt appears to have a band aid on his nose .
Morning my friend! Been under the weather the past couple of weeks so I have some catching up to do. I have my coffee in hand and I'm ready!
good info
