nice find for the guy. You bought it to show the collecting public is fantastic. I know a guy who used to do the same thing, buy boxes and search, He bought a $25 box of 1992 Lincolns. The rolls were all bu but quality was all over, from Ms 60 up. In what he said was the worst roll, in the middle was a gem. He sent it in to PCGS and it came back 69Rd, at the time it might have been top pop
Great news! I recently started my winter searching. 2000+ nickels and quarters, and 30,000+ cents. A few DDO/Rs, RPMs, and what appears to be a small collection dump of full red 60s.
This is such a surprise how much these were going for. I found one and I was just going to put up for about five bucks raw on ebay…thank you for posting this video, great information…
Some years ago, I had a 1931-s Buffalo nickel in ms65 that I wanted to part ways with. Dealers at my local coin shows told me what it’s worth, but had no interest in buying it. One of them told me they just don’t have any demand. I was surprised at how difficult it was to sell.
I have the coin Daniel was just talking about. I would estimate it is at least in MS63 or 64 condition. I don't sell coins so it really doesn't matter. I see coins on You Tube and other places that are supposedly quite valuable, as this one is, but when you look them up on PCGS and other places the opposite holds true. PCGS shows the value of a 1999-D Lincoln cent in MS-63/64 grade at $4. Mine has the A/M flaw which supposedly makes it more valuable.
Our soul coins for cool my grandpa had silver dollars Indian Head pennies Buffalo nickels things like that. I found a dime in my mom's Garden when I was cleaning it up that was in great condition and it was a 1944 Roosevelt dime. I looked up a Roosevelt dime online and they said it was worth about $9 silver value. Didn't realize they didn't start making Roosevelt times till 1946. I put that dime in a little box with a 1944 wheat penny that I found with no mint mark I put it in storage it's somewhere I've been looking high and low for that damn dime cuz I know that thing is worth money. I called some coin dealers and left messages on their phone but nobody ever called me back she probably thought I was pulling their leg
Because you don’t understand it’s a variety and it’s not about your feelings. One thing you need to learn is life doesn’t revolve around your feelings, and life is bigger than you.
I’m looking for some serious help. Is this the best platform to submit questions to you? I have a roll of all 1958D pennies, all in amazing shape. The first one I looked at has die chips on the obverse and reverse. The roll is marked uncirculated by a banker. I finally got the courage to open the roll (there are 20 different rolls, all pennies, rolls are various years) today. I want to do this right, so I thought I would reach out to you. Where do I send pics of that first coin to show you what I’m talking about? Can you help me, or direct me to someone who is able to help? Spotting errors on the first two made me super anxious and I want to make sure I do this right. Thank you for your channel and all the info you share on the subject!

I copied down the dates from your video from the past about the variety pennies and look for them myself. So far, I've found nothing, but it's fun anyways. Thanks for sharing. 👍👍
I have found several error coins and bills and I haven't had any graded yet. One is a Lincoln cent with part of the Lincoln memorial building stamped on the bust of Lincoln on the front. Haven't seen anything yet like it. Not sure what it might fetch. Plus several bo " FG" s and some misaligned green seals and numbers on a few one dollar bills. Still looking through my huge pile of change from just saving up my pocket change. I just started up again collecting coins and bills especially error one's.
I have heard of these type of strike errors but also they can sometimes be a coin that was hammered leaving a imprint on it like it might have been some kind of re-strike error. If the odd strike is concave or print sinks into the coin, and is a reverse of what it normally would be it may be a `post-mint damaged` coin and carries no premium. But if checked out by someone that knows what to look for, it would have some value. How much is the question. May not be all that much all things considered. Really a coin is only worth what someone is willing to pay, and the ranges can be all over the place. Good luck.
There's no restrike errors on pennies, it's more than likely a die clash which is very common, you just need to use error-ref.com for your error resource.
Uniqueness/interesting coins every minute, every day and every generation just waiting to be discovered. However, some coin dealers are not prepared for this new discovery. Coin dealers are not in business to make collectors rich.
You have this all wrong, this is an actual error from the US Mint, that's the only errors anyone is going to buy, and they must be verified and attributed then catalogued as a mint error or variety. It is a process, not just discovering something different, thinking it's a new discovery or that dealers aren't prepared or don't want to let collector's make money. I don't get this pointing fingers at coin dealers for why you're not rich or not finding good coins. It makes no sense at all, the only advantage a dealer has over a collectors is their greater amount of knowledge and the amount of coins they actually handle.
LOL. Pot calling the kettle black, stop watching if you don't like my style, but don't be negative about me and my videos if you don't like negativity. You only see what you want to see. Figure that out.
I hadn’t until a few years ago. I called and spoke to a person at NGC and she was very helpful, same thing at ANACS. If you’re interested, I would just call. I think ANACS still doesn’t require a membership so it is a little less expensive. In this digital age, we forget we can sometimes call and talk to a live person. Sometimes
That was the first coin, I've ever had graded. Luckily ANACS was there at the coin show when I was trying to sell it. It was very easy, just filled out some paperwork and they sent it back to me about 3 weeks later. I was amazed that the dealers didn't want to buy it, I would have taken alot less and let them certify it. Oh well, it all worked out, the hunt continues to find another......
Wonderful variety I would have bought it too because there are not many of that variety If I’m not mistaken!! I think I know the RUclips video in which Digging Dive got it in a Lincoln cent hunt live!!
Authenticating and grading of this variety is an absolute must for a dealer. Primarily, despite the rarity/scarcity of the piece, it is quite esoteric and desirable by a select few. Sure . . . it has a market, but I know as a local dealer, I can sell 20 S-VDBs or 14-Ds for every person who walks up (actually, no one ever has???) looking for a " Close 'AM' ". Let's face it . . .these varieties are not exactly like a 55DD or 3-legger. If I am going to try to market an AU 1992-D "piece of pocket change", I REALLY want it in a TPG holder so at least I have a chance to refute the guys who walk up and wonder if I am trying to sell a cent I picked up off the ground in the parking lot on the way in.
Hello Daniel...Good price but watch your margins....does it make sense to sell at a 10% margin( $995-$900) when you have a 5% off sale and 3% paypal fee.....Stay well and make $$$ :). Merry Christmas !!!
It's interesting that dealers wouldn't buy the coin. I feel like coin dealers (and collectors for that matter) have gotten worse at grading and spotting coins since I have been collecting. I have to wonder if they/we are depending too much on grading services to do the work for them
It's from too much inconsistency from all the different grading companies, many coin dealers feel like they've been burned on their grading submissions. People don't believe me, but I know this as a fact.
@RockinFinds It's just a cent that has turned brown. Any copper lower than MS-60 is automatically assumed to be brown, so they don't put it on the label. If this coin were MS-60 or better, they would have given it a "BN" designation based off of the colour. No extra charge.
For some reason, I could not find this error or indifference on older Lincoln cents/pennies. I found close "AM" mostly in 1990 and early 2000 Lincoln cents, and I have several of them. Even if it is graded the value is still a little high, because it is not one of a kind etc. Just my two cents and a half.
Good morning everyone! Have you created any shows about close/wide AM’s ? I have found a few, just toss them in my recheck one day box. I have searched lots of pennies, so don’t think it’s an easy task! Merry Christmas to EVERYONE!!
Just goes to show, not all coin dealers are experts at grading coins. and im sure not all coin graders can operate a coin business.
Hell, a lot of coin graders can't grade coins.
Well done. People do not realize the close margins that so many businesses run on. If you ask me you paid him a great price!
Congratulations to the finder of the close am . !!!! Well done.
