    • @BL-rb7jm
      @BL-rb7jm 5 лет назад

      Hi. I would like to know if a coin has a number missing or faded or a letter is missing or faded does that change the value? because I have a few coins where the Iis missing in Liberty or the last number on the date is missing or it's faded. I also have one Lincoln penny from the 70s where the I is doubled and the L is doubled but nowhere else.
      And another question I would like to ask is what if the letters in God we trust goes way over the outside rim of the penny would that change the value as well? Do people desire these things?
      I'm just getting into the coin collection and I'm over 50 and I find it very intriguing and the more I get into it the more it intrigues me.! This my only addiction next to my coffee in the morning LOL
      I feel like a kid again doing this coin searching. I live in Canada but I prefer the interests of the American coins even though we have prettier paper money and withstands better than the US ..you guys have very interesting pennies. As well as dimes etc.. It's a real science to learn all this.

    • @BL-rb7jm
      @BL-rb7jm 5 лет назад +1

      I found two 1982 small date American pennies, unfortunately they did not weigh more than 3 grams. However I do have a few 1982 that are 3.11 grams. It would be nice if one is small date.
      Once you find a small date which can be a little daunting to find you put it beside all the other 1982 s and you definitely can see the contrast between the 2s. It took me awhile but after a bit your eye is trained to see the small date. My question is if you do find a 1982 small date and it does not weigh over the three grams does that make it still at face value or do people still want the small date regardless at the weight?

    Hi; I'm really enjoying your videos and wanted to say thank you very much!
    1 question: Mint marks were hand punched separately from the rest of the coin? I'm imagining a guy with a hammer and a punch going down a line of thousands of coins and striking them individually (probably not, but it's an illustration for my question). In that case, wouldn't each mint mark be unique in its placement? And wouldn't each re-punched mint mark be unique? Unless the punch was a doubled-die I guess. But in that case, wouldn't it be a doubled-die-mint-mark?
    Thank you for putting so much effort into helping aspiring numismatists like myself!

    I have a penny stamped on a thin planchette, 1978 no mint mark.
    The planchette is about half the thickness of a regular penny at about 1/32nd of an inch. The outside diameter is 18.5mm. A standard penny from what my calipers tell me, the thickness is about a hair under 1/16th of an inch and it's outside diameter is 3/4th of an inch. Now keep in mind this penny is a lil warn on the front but nothing to indicate the size differential. The back is detailed like a normal fresh penny and the front is somewhat smoother. Any ideas??

      I have a huge advantage working a register. I can put aside whatever I want from work and put back my own cash for what I take out instead of blindly buying into coin rolls for less definite results. As a result I have several mint error coins, some MS 60 at the least and possibly some DDO and other varieties once I buy a microscope. These last 2 days I pulled a 1990 mint error quarter, a 1982 DDO in good shape and today a 1918 P what penny and a 1940 D wheat.
