    4:56 it was on the iPhone 5 they switched to lightning, so the 4 & 4S also had the 30 pin connector. Important to note though that people had been using the 30 pin connector on the iPods (remember those?) for 10 years prior to lightning being introduced. So it wasn’t really an easier/better transition. At least this time they are switching to a connector that’s already somewhat ubiquitous rather than a totally new proprietary connector

      Good point. And with Macs and iPads moving to USB C a while ago, I don't think the transition will be that bad.

      @@sooperman12 The most frustrating thing is that Apple had already started. It could have been much smoother if they just selected a year, say 2020 and every new device was type-C. By now people who are in their ecosystem could have universalized hardware running on one charger. This is the most obvious example of Apple going for getting as much money as they could instead of user experience or sustainability. All those lightning connectors are going to be in a landfill in the next 5-10 years or recycled in a costly manner. Dissappointed it took the eu forcing their hand. I'm a big fan their products but this has been a bad look.

    • @sooperman12
      @sooperman12 8 месяцев назад

      @@josiahbrown7258 I 1000% agree but I see it from their side as well. At the end of the day, Apple's a business company. They're out to make money even if it's $15 here and there multiplied by the number of iPhone and base iPad owners. They made a bucket load of money off Lightning cables and adapters. If not for the EU, they would 100% not have switched. Apple's a successful American company not for capitulating to the consumers while knowing what the consumers ultimately want. It's a weird paradox.

    Repair tech here: back glass damage used to be so much because the back glass was fused to the enclosure and required what is a called a “rear system repair” where basically the old phone’s display and rear camera unit are put into the body of a brand new phone. So it was $549 because other than the rear camera and display, you were basically getting a new phone

    In regards to the back glass repair costs, I believe on the iPhone 14 the $549 replacement cost for damaged back glass Apple replaces the whole phone for that cost. With the $199 repair cost for the iPhone 15 I believe they are just replacing the rear glass.

    There's a reason why Samsung has stuck with a 3x as their 'regular' telephoto lens, it's just a really useful focal length to start with that also happens to kick in just as the cropping from the main sensor falls apart giving you decent zoom up to 5x. 5x gets you closer with digital zoom, but you just don't need those deeper digital zooms very often unless it's for a snapshot. And going up from 15x to 25x is rarely going to be the make-or-break in that regard.
    Apple just really needs to bite the bullet and admit Samsung got this one right: 3x is an amazing day to day focal length, and adding a fourth camera allows you to get really weird and crazy with those deeper zooms that are rarely going to produce a printable photo anyway.

    • @michaelwright2986
      @michaelwright2986 8 месяцев назад +3

      Yes indeed. 3x gets you into traditional portrait angles of view. And really, if anyone regularly needs good results from much longer than that, perhaps they should be using a real camera.

    So a friend of mine had his back glass break on his iphone 14 Pro Max. He forked over the repair cost because the phone was so vital to his work he needed a working one the same day. The cost is so massive because they couldn’t repair it, you’d just be shelling ou t the cost t for an Apple refurbished replacement unit. You’re essentially buying an Apple refurb quality phone like directly from their refurb site. The cost is less because you hand your old phone in, and you get a 3 month warranty instead of the typical 1 year. You essentially did get a new frame, new battery, etc. out of it.
    With these repairable backs, it sounds like they’re legit just going to keep your phone parts as is, and repair the back piece as expected. The cost is much less, but if you had a dying battery or something, you’ll eventually have to refork for that too.
    Basically, like they say in the video, case your phone if you’re worried/clumsy, or get AppleCare/check if your credit card has the same type of coverage built in. Mine does, so I don’t need to buy AppleCare.

    I defiantly think iPhone should have 4 cameras next and have all the option and not have a choosing one or the other.
    So all the focal lengths are really good .
    Apple don't like perfect symmetry in the style mind.
    Even with two they are diagonal from each other.
    I think the fact it's less stronger than the iPhone 14 pro the and the titanium is looks worse quicker, it seems like they have down graded other things and the back glass might be down graded also and why it's now cheaper to replace

    Can you comment on Jerry Rig's testing which shows up the IPhone 15 Pro Max as being very frail with the back glass shattering and a test in Australia where they found it actually not as durable as the iPhone 14 Pro? Max. There's issues of how strong the titanium really is and why the backglass shatters so easily. There's also overheating.

      @FloreFaune 8 месяцев назад +1

      If you remember Jerry even said that happened on the 15 pro max, because how stiff the frame is now. If you purposefully press your Pro Max you’re going to break it so just don’t do that

      These tests are nonsense. All phones will break under the conditions used in these tests. And when they do them, each time they’re doing it a bit differently, so you can’t compare tests. Seriously anybody using any phone should use a case if they have any feeling at all that they might drop or smack their phones against anything.

      @@shirodad I see people with phones in their back pockets all the time. It’s been years since people broke phones that way. It was a brief issue and then manufacturers fixed the problem and we haven’t seen it again. If you do something really stupid with your phone, you will break it. Period. None of this testing is done for anything other than entertainment. It also gives everybody a chance to diss other’s phones as they will all break.

    I’d like to ask a question! Hopefully somebody can answer. So I set my phone to live listen cause my son has fallen asleep in my bedroom and I went outside to talk to my husband and while I was turning to walk back over my AirPods I heard someone say “Do you hear something? That sound? Sssshhhhh.” Needless to say I raced back to my room thinking someone had broken in but all was quiet. After I explained what happened to my concerned husband I walked back to the spot I was standing in and I could hear light music under lots of like white noise. Has anyone else’s AirPods picked up someone else’s conversation?

    The 0 emission statement. I’m thinking they have calculated approximately how much electricity the average watch uses through its lifecycle. The probably have a pretty good picture of the transportation emissions as they have transported things globally for quite some time. Then they calculate an average if this and then add a margin on top.
    I want to say I remember that all Apple stores etc runs on green energy

But you’re catering to stock holders and an over valued company as is. Apple is going to lay people off regardless of the release cycle when economic downturns happen. It’s the nature of the beast. There are tons of jobs out there that pay well, but no one wants to do them. The tech industry is just flashy and cool. Too many people in it already and are forced from job to job with no stability.
