I’ve been waiting for this video since they released the review video. From sketching, production to edit and sound. Everything fits together so perfectly. It shows how much they care about production quality when they spend 2 and a half days on the intro that’s so amazing.

Brilliance is an understatement. I just love how you get creative together and cleverly use tech to get the results that blow much higher budget productions out of the water. Sure, the robot helps but still - this is beyond amazing and I appreciate the raw breakdown!

I love these reviews/critques by the team mixed with the making. They aren't the usual drama youtube "we have 24 hours to do this thing that is easy and normal if we had 3 days". it doesn't need drama or hype. Folks creating cool shit and explaining how they did it and what they could have done differently is great. This is the cool stuff you can create as you get a team of good people who are able to focus on things.

Audibly said "wow" when I first saw the intro. One of the simplest but best decisions about it was the song choice though. Really plays into Marques' image and made a bold first impression

4:29 minutes. I have asked Samsung in the wishlist to give us the overlay filter on its camera. When I am making sequences, position and angle of the previous picture is so much important. Glad this behind the scene video exists. I was intrigued when I saw it in MKBHD video.
As apple released their invite for the launch event, I got more excited that MKBHD is going to make an intro of this phone than the actual launch and the device.... totally worth it.
This is what I wait for during tech season. The intros are 💯 Brandon's storytelling are sick!!! Elis's music is so good!! Then icing on the cake are Marques's insights!!! They did not have to do this, but why waste the talent and equipment that this team has!
I'm always impressed by how much of what I'd assume was just comped in in post turns out to be practical, in-camera, if also a little daunted. If this isn't at the level of quality of Apple's own ads, well, I surely could not tell you what's missing.
This is great! I definitely watched that intro like 10 times when the video released. I know how great that SmallHD image overlay feature is; but I'm curious, how come y'all put props in one at a time for the final sequence of shots instead of setting up the final frame (with Marques' picking up the phone) and then removing props one at a time for the different takes? I'm sure y'all considered this but was there some barrier that didn't allow this? Also, thanks for these behind the scenes, love these
I was wondering the same thing. Wouldn't it have been easier to do it in reverse from the final frame as they are repeating shots for each prop anyway? Maybe they have their reasoning, and I'm curious to know.
Basically wanted to do away with as much masking and blending as possible - between shadows being added from props as well as trying to avoid moving the phone until the very last take… just keeps editing a little simpler and 1-1 with framing!
