18:49 Man that killed it. Thank you so much for covering this. This was beautiful. I completely get that lots of people consider youtube their profession, and their job - and rightfully so, you all do amazing work. and that making a video like this can make it more difficult to get access to products or early looks at products into the future, given almost every company has a very anti-right to repair stance. I can't tell you how much I appreciate you putting your living on the line to talk about this. I hope others appreciate it too. THANK YOU!!!!
“Imagine you have a job that requires drug testing and you quit the job ……… and they still try to test you for 5 years” my god. How can apple even legally attempt that?
Because you had access to the terms of use prior to the purchase, and at the time of purchase; and every opportunity to not buy an apple product. You could’ve gone Sony, Nokia, the Google backed phone, or any other non apple product.
@@bobroberts2581 This statement is referring to apple doing inspections up to 5 years after being an AASP, which is ridiculous, and had nothing to do with purchasing their product on a consumer level.
When Louis, linus started talking about this. I honestly thought you and others won't speak on this because on the dependency getting new products early etc. But getting your voice out on this, has raised my respect for you tremendously. Watching you from 7 years, won't stop ever
an over 10 million subs channel doesn't "depend" on early models lol. of course they'd prefer them but I'm sure people would be willing to wait a little to get to see the MKBHD version of the video
tbh it is Apple's to lose if Marques boycotts their brand over any bullshit that they may try over him speaking up for these topics. He could rip Oneplus apart, hang em to dry but they'd still send him their flagship weeks ahead of schedule. MKBHD is larger than RUclips and they won't miss out on this free advertising for anything!
Sorry this is not an attack on Apple video... no other company is better Samsung, Microsoft, Google are all the same... so sorry but exclusive Apple haters like louis don’t deserve any credit...
and he could just as easily not have made a video about it, or spun the video in a way that sympathizes with companies and their capitalist practices. instead he talks about how these laws are so shitty for the planet and the consumer. not sure how middle ground this appears - you're either pro consumer or pro company, there's no in between since each of their interests are directly opposed to each other
Why, then, doesn't he tell his audience how Apple actively blocks refurbished screens. He keeps bringing up replacing a screen. When it comes to other things, he suggests that repairing them becomes harder. What about the camera module on the latest iPhone? Switching it out disables the camera app. It's Apple-locked.
As far as John Deere goes, a friend of mine had an issue related to the electronic control system, ecu, pcm, whatever you want to call it. JD gave him such a hard time that he came to me and had me build an open source ecu to control the entire tractor (Speeduino based). It gave him complete control over every aspect of that damn thing and JD is not happy. Now his warranty was just about up and doing something like this will void your warranty, but if done right takes the piss outta some of these companies
@@willissudweeks1050 so instead of asking me how this whole deal works, and maybe taking back control of the machine I'm assuming you bought, from a company like John Deere that is actively screwing you over, you decided to give me shit. I posted that comment as an anecdote that might show people in these situations, that there are ways to get around these companies blocking you from fixing - modifying- or doing whatever the hell you want with your property. These bespoke computer systems, embedded software, systems etc... are just control systems that can be replicated. The automotive aftermarket has been doing this forever with standalone computers to control engines, transmissions, and even modern vehicle LAN systems. These allow people to ditch restrictive or feature poor factory units for something more advanced that gives the user access and control over every system from fuel to emissions controls. I understand how frustrating what these manufacturers are doing is which is why I learned how to get around it. I'm not a genius I just knew there was more than one way to skin This particular cat, plus I'm not rich.
It is awesome and it’s a rational take on the situation just like Rossman has been arguing for years. If enough people become educated on this issue companies like Apple will either give in either voluntarily or be forced to do the right thing via new legislation. It would be in Apple’s best interest to do the right thing before they’re eventually forced to.
@Jeffry Chen I think that's your own bias my guy. I watched both, legal eagle gets way more political and Viva even called it that Legal Eagles case would fail on his legal action (an it did, after the guy asked people for money for a case doomed to fail). His breakdowns are far more thorough to me and Robert Barnes is definitely political when he has him on, but he's got a very strong understanding of the law.
As a former kid who used to and now an adult who still loves to take everything apart, I agree that we should be allowed to fix our stuff. Thank you for mixing in discussions about these important issues with more reviews of the next piece of tech.
So true, customer only get the service of using the product (whatever this might include), instead of owning the whole product including the materials and software. E.g. a washing machine would sell clean laundry and the manufacturer repairs it, sends over new washing powder, etc. But we should decide on it, right?
As much as I respect, Louis, he's not exactly an amiable person. This movement will probably not pass if it doesn't get well-liked personalities advertising it to the ignorant masses. Remember the Amazon unionization efforts?
Agreed. This video among others confirms again and again he has integrity and that his opinions on products can be trusted. That’s such a rare thing in a time where many just want free product or a paycheck.
Ha. I saw a video recently of a 3D printed house, where a few bits of static furniture were printed as part of the structure. Seemed cool... Now you have me thinking; especially if the houses were mass produced for an estate/project, where the developer might have control over utilities etc.
This guy literally made a video that can potential hurt him from getting early access on new products. Instead of thinking of himself and his channel, he chose to talk about a topic that has to do with the people. Massive amount of respect.
True, although if I was already a multimillionaire (heck, even one million would do), I'd do the same thing. It could potentially hurt me economically, but my life is already economically set, so why wouldn't I do what's actually important? Plus this will not really bring Marques' channel down or his viewed down. The worst it could do is to not get him even more views/money, for some videos when there's an unique new device, but when you make probably tens of thousands of dollars monthly, there's no real reason to make even more while not speaking up about truly important things. Because if someone in his position did that, sacrifice his integrity for even more money - that would indicate a pathology, a pathological relationship with money, I think (today even billionaires always want more, and this is just sick, literally sick).
Worked at the Genius Bar and had to turn down customers over the simplest repairs bc I wasn’t allowed to do it and instead was told to push selling a new phone or I’d get in trouble. I’m so glad you are talking about this.
It makes more money selling a new phone because of how big there margins are. For instance an OLED panel cost $8 an inch to make and they can sell you a complete phone for $1000.
I feel like it would of been good to have mentioned the software locks on Apples iPhone, especially since they disable certain functions even when using genuine parts. Overall the video was entertaining and the right to repair issues where well covered.

@@koldobika_ if you use a non original screen or battery or whatever to fix an otherwise functional IPhone, iOS will lock the device and prevent that part from working (touchID was famous for this on replacement screens)
Louis Rossman's summary is so important. It's ok for the tech to get smaller and more challenging, but it's not ok that manufacturers are contractually forbidden from selling their parts to end users. Then you can't step up to the challenge even if you want to.
The best explanation I heard was the car comparison. If you have a car you clearly expect to be able to change the tire. But with apple, you get a notification after you change your tire and tell you that its not going to work anymore because apple didnt replace it.
They also have two "arguments" about this: 1) user does not know if that is "genuine" part 2) it's safer when manufacturer does it. And I have answers to those: 1) so sell those parts in your official store, Apple 2) Two things: a) apple is not the real manufacturer of those, it's usually some company in China, b) Samsung Note7 exploding battery, which was "genuine"
ya idk why mkbhd is defending tesla for "safety" that's just scummy manipulation tactics from tesla to discourage people from modifying their cars, also on the JRE Elon said that he is fine with people modifying Tesla's but tesla the company has not always backed his claim and that's just shady
Rossman has been going at this for years. I remember just a few years ago, you could easily find a new battery to your phone if it crapped out (Galaxy S4 for me). Now? It´s basically impossible. Why? Because the battery is the first thing to normally give out (a few hundred charge cycles) which means you have to buy a new phone or pay 10x the cost for having it replaced.
ive been subscribed to rossman since 2016 and poor guy has been fighting this battle alone for like 5 years hes an absolute madman to keep going like this and i respect the hell out of it

Not necessarily; I think complex machines like phones and cars deserve to have repair guides regardless. Repair guides help average people without training, as an amateur mechanic I use them all the time
@@jamescartier8728 shop manuals for cars have been a thing for a very long time - and parts have been available, but the same downfalls exist with warranty voids. The only slight difference is the rarity of parts markups. Most parts aren’t quite as overpriced compared to the car itself while something like an iPhone screen might cost more than the phone?
Ethan screens cost more than a phone under who's quote is the question? Let's take Apple again as an example, they run their own repairs, they don't let others buy there components (like screens), Now it kinda narrows the user down to two options, - repair phone which is super expensive - buy new phone, even though it's only a Yr old - that new iPhone has all those xyz shiny features Apples interest to charge those extortionate prices is to force users into buying a new phone Like hell a piece of a device will cost more than it all sold together, (Srry if that's the point ya were already making and I misunderstood ;-;)

It's about your choice: 1. Am I skilled enough to do it by myself. 2. Do I want to pay someone skilled enough to do it for me. 3. Or I don't want to repair and just buy new device.
I think this is the most important part. I don't want to have to buy all the equipment it takes to repair my device. But there are people and repair shops out there who will. Without competition, these manufacturers are just like the 19th century robber barons.
@@spicytuna62 additionally, if right to repair became more of a universal standard in tech, you could have local libraries buy up repair kits that they’ll lend out to you for free. There are already tool libraries in cities across the country that do this for larger tools.
I know, it’s great to see! I was really hoping Marquez would show the video where the lady presenting “her” case on why RTR is bad kept giving fake reasons, and how Louis dunked on them.
The first hurdle which reduces your right is the way you pay for the item you purchase. As an example the leasing for cars will limit the amount of miles that you can do in a year. Because you are only allowed to use the car within certain limits and under certain conditions until you pay that symbolic last one dollar token. Small prints.
It fills me with joy that the cause is finally being met with massive support after all this time! Here's to you, Louis and every RFR advocate out there!
"When you buy something, do you own it?" If companies had their way, _everything would be a rental subscription._ You don't need to look at the obvious suspects of Apple and John Deere. Look at Microsoft Office or G Suite. Look at everything made by Adobe or Autodesk. Look at every game publisher (except GOG) and every game console. _Your ability to use the product is ultimately up to the whim of the company._ There is a reason why tech pushed "as a service" nonsense HARD. Think about it, why would you spend money to innovate ever again if you can just extract rent for services people find essential and if you can simply force them to upgrade to a less functional product just to eliminate the competitors?
You're just talking about software though. That's not really that relevant to this conversation. You don't "own" closed source software. You purchase a license to use that software. It is not a physical thing that belongs to you. Like you go around hating on capitalist pigs all you want, and I'm here for it, but what you're talking about isn't about right to repair.

I too agree that we need to have Right to Repair, because first at all we still Buy the products and not Rent the products. Repairing your stuff isn't something bad, we will have less waste around. But the problem with repair is that many companies are pushing high prices for the parts, I have seen a lot of waste because for many people is easier and cheaper to Buy a new thing instead to Repair it. I think the stuff around us should me more accessible and easier to maintain, right of repair is a right of someone's personal choice. Also right of repair should be a more moral question, If we repair something is that going to be safe and good for the others around, for the people, nature, etc. I'm very very glad because many started to talk about this 😀 I and I love how Marques and Louis talk open about this questions 👍👍👍
Right to repair doesn't mean that you have to fix the device. If you feel you cannot do it safely then you should be able to get it repaired by someone else. Unfortunately companies don't want those people to fix it for you because they want to sell you a new device, so they make parts expensive and difficult to get.
@@TheSkcube 'so they make parts expensive and difficult to get.' They don't _make_ parts expensive and difficult by themselves. When Linus wanted to get a replacement motherboard from Apple, they would only sell him a motherboard with CPU + RAM even though those were socketed and there was no need to sell those together as that were not damaged. He also had to pay $4000 for 3 parts when the device costs around $5000. The bill of materials cost of a device is not 4/5th of the cost of the device. As a family farmer and former John Deere dealership employee, yes this has been a huge concern and issue for local farmers around where I live. To the point that many are switching to different colored tractors.
Great coverage of a complicated topic. I agree that there isn't a simple answer, but engineering things from the start with a bit more repairability of the most likely to break parts as one of the design priorities makes sense to me.
Right, but Apple, John Deere, medical equipment manufacturers, etc., prevent you from buying replacement parts from their suppliers, even if they designed the product to be repairable... So only the manufacturer can repair the device even if it's easy to do! Separately from the hardware design, manufacturers are using software to ensure that you can't replace parts by, say, taking a part off of an old tractor and putting into your broken tractor!! The only reason this isn't the case with (gasoline) cars is because it's illegal. And it's not like we are asking companies to publish source code... Just don't make the software reject replacement parts!! Or release a premade software tool that allows you to enable the replacement part/calibrate it.
@@davak72 I think you meant, "...manufacturers are using software to ensure that you can't..."? I agree - it is a sticky issue. Marques, thanks for bringing this up. Maybe 1,5 yes ago I cracked a pixel 3a, but found it hard to find replacement parts. I considered looking for on eBay etc for comparable parts to replace at home, but felt concerned about quality & reliability etc. I live on the Dutch side of the border but had bought the pixel 3a at a German Mediamarket nearby where it was on sale, incl insurance. I took the phone in to get fixed and didn't hear back for a week. The call centre is all the way across the country in Berlin and it was "impossible to transfer me" but would make sure to call me back asap. I never got that call, but have continually called Mediamarket and the insurance company (who claim the phone is with the shop), and I have driven the 45 mins to the facility (when cross border & other COVID restrictions allowed) where they told me the phone is with the insurance company but that someone would call me the next work day "even I drop dead". All delays have been blamed on waiting for a shipment on parts. Maybe this ties in to the right to repair. Either way, I have been left with suspicion for insurance and the feeling that the whole system is rigged to rip people off. Is there anything I could have done?
Sry this is long and idk if marques will ever see this but I think it's weird that, if it really was this hard to get parts on a not old phone, that pixel bears some responsibility there, and that Mediamarket should not be offering insurance and accepting phone's for repair that they know they don't have parts for, especially without telling me it would take that long
In the UK, a new “right to repair” law is expected to be introduced this summer. Details are sketchy on which appliances are covered. However, it is proposed that manufacturers will be legally obliged to make spare parts for products available to consumers for the first time. A legal right to repairs in order to extend a product’s lifespan to 10 years.
That sounds delightful....But the flip side of that will be dramatically increased prices on the devices right from the start. If the manufacturer can't make their money that way anymore, they're gonna be looking to get all that money up front.
the thing is i dont think they will. some brands sure but ie if apple goes a lot higher (using them as the example cause they're the most likely to) but samsung stays the same (they've been selling oem parts for their phones for years), more of your average consumers will be buying the cheaper samsung phones which in turn could hurt business for apple
@@brendanlawrence3624 then that means that that money was necessary and should not have been reduced primarily, for the environment. I have been looking for a new phone recently and every phone I can find that is in my price range that has been made in the past 2 years has a nonremovable battery. A battery that has around 500 charging cycles, if I'm lucky before it becomes trash. If you ask me that is total BS! That is a clear example of forced obsolescence. They don't make things hard to repair because tech is changing and getting smaller blah blah blah. They know the battery is a simple way to force you to regularly get a new phone. Buy a $9 battery or buy a new $400 phone. I should have the right to buy a $9 battery and keep using my phone until I am ready to buy a new one. I for one hope to see crazy strict regulations for the right to repair. But I know we won't if we even see any at all because these companies already have so much money they can easily influence laws.
More and more I'm becoming inclined to go back to olden days and buy really cheap smart phones and just buying tablet's for media consumption so I can better manage their charge cycles.
some people already developed prying skills and learning technical things to fix their phone. but then, there goes the big guy, Apple, putting adhesive all over their phone, airpods, and their new headphone can't be turned off without the ugly case. at least most batteries now is not soldered, and with prying tools and a careful hands, you could replace the battery. I missed the day where you just popped up or slide the back case and easily replace battery though
I can relate. I'm still rocking my about to be 8 years old Samsung Galaxy S4. Last software update was Lollipop (v1.5) in 2016 but it still runs all the apps I need (browser, mail, music, RUclips, miscellanious stuff) cause I don't care about games or waiting one second versus ten for an app to open (I know a custom rom could fix the last part but like I said, I don't care). I plan on using it as long as it's litterally falling apart, but since that process has already started a while back, I too am looking for new phones occasionally and while many intruige me from a technical perspective (crazy good cameras, 128GB+ storage, etc.) I haven't found one that has a decent price (the S4 was a flagship back then and I bought it new for 400 bucks, I don't see why it should be thrice as much now) and complies with my believes in sustainabilty and longevity. I highly doubt that any modern phone would still hold up in 8 years like my old S4 does. It went through two batteries and lost it's power button because it malfunctioned and I had to remove it. These are little to no concern because it uses standard Phillips screws and no adhesive whatsoever, but good luck not screwing anything up and damaging a phone more attempting to do these things on a new phone. There is one manufactorer that does indeed check all the boxes for me. That's the Fairphone. Repairability with every part being purchasable from the manufactorer, easy to remove battery, ethical sourcing for precious metals (no child labor and funding basic human rights violations in 3rd world countries). But the downside is that one can hardly call the latest phone a new phone with it's specs. Even for my old S4 it wouldn't be much of an upgrade. I really hope that something good comes out of this, I'm tired of coorperations (not just tech ones) locking out the customer more and more until they only have to sell to mindless consumers, instead of having to deal with acual customers.
Hmm you made me think about google Pixel phone's because most of them have battery issues but now I think are made that way so people buy more phones from google.
Surface Mount Technology, And many areas of High End Technology are capable of being repaired with the appropriate electronic knowledge, equipment and techniques, did this over 20 years ago. The biggest issues come from the on going efforts from industry to tamperproof their products, and then either making their repair manuals proprietary, and refusing to release the technical repair manuals, or refusing to sell the new equipment becoming needed to repair items, for Example Tamper Proof Torx was not available to the public for a good many years.
For some reason safety is not a problem if I want to drop a turbo charger in my family sedan. Sure there are some 'street' legal limits imposed by the government, but the manufacture never cared beyond voiding the warranty (understandable). For a car company to say I can't mod my car there should be such an extreme safety concern to OTHERS that the government has to make laws around it. The fact that corporations can make a consumer feel like they 'broke the law' is disgusting. I gave your business my hard earned money for your product, you should be grateful for that transaction. Now corporations are saying we should be grateful they even sold us the product.
The "safe excuse" is bulshit... If I want to repair sometinh, I undertand that there is a risk that I fuck up my phone, but that's my risk, if it works I can keep on using my old phone, if it dies I get a new one lol
Tesla makes cars and advertises how fast they go from 0-60 and crazy top speed with things like plaid mode. But, you can't fix it or modify it yourself because of safety. Who is buying that bs?
I agree. The "safety" thing is such BS. Tesla isn't my mommy and if I want to rip the battery and motor out of a Tesla Semi and force it down the throat of a smart car that's my choice. If I die, I die, let nature take it's course and give me my Darwin Award. It's about control not safety.
been watching Louis struggling to fight apple with right to repair for years. thank you for this video, for more people to be aware of certain business models out there. thank you for giving Louis a hand.
I agree with a lot of what you said. Here are my thoughts on the matter. Regarding the hazards of taking things apart; Yes it is "dangerous" to take electrical things apart, especially if it contains large capacitors that can store a lot of current. This is especially important when working on a power supply. The quick fix is having some basic information about electronics and the right tools. A person new to repairing could then read about how to safely discharge large capacitors and then it's perfectly safe to work with (when not plugged in a wall outlet). But here is the beauty of right to repair. If more people were more used to repairing their own equipment, they would share it freely on social media or other online platforms. Books are also a good source when it comes to repairing electrical devices. Tools are very cheap now and a lot of devices use SMD components that are soldered with hot air. It's do-able but takes practice to it yourself. I wish I could repair my own devices easier because I think I already create too much e-waste as things are now. It's so expensive to get parts that it's easier to just buy a new phone and it's sad. My dad's old computer was 25 years old when he retired it, and it was still working at that time. Now you can barely have any electrical device last more than 5 years. It can't be good for the environment. I think it's also up to us to settle with having an older phone model and not the latest tech all the time. The device is still serving a purpose. I dabbled with repairing my own things and sometimes I manage to fix it. I fixed my 10 year old television that was still going strong. I managed to fix it with the help of russian RUclips videos that was translated on the fly and I had enough information to repair my TV to a working state. I eventually replaced it but just repairing it added at least 2 years of it's life span. I took to a communal garbage disposal facility so it's taken apart and exposed of properly in a safely manner. Try to repair things before throwing them away is not only fun, but good for the environment. You are learning a new skill! What's not to love c'mon?!
I worked for Deere, in the corporate offices, they had many update events about this. They were very fanatical about stopping the right to repair on the new machines so they could push the services that came along with it.
Thar's why my uncles keep using pretty old tractors on their farms. They have 9 of them and they say will never buy newer models even if they are given 50% off.Plenty of second hand parts from build to last era.
They should just shift to strictly subscription model like the upstart Canoo. Then you can have no fear of future legislations regarding right of repair.
It would have been really great for Marques to at least mention Louis’s fundraiser for the RTR legislation. Could have brought in a huge influx of donations.
@Damiano Casula your comment reflects your naivety. If all the companies that make the best phones decide to do this there's nothing you can do to stop them, except buy sub standard products until this becomes a trend in every single smartphone

I literally wrote my Master's thesis around right to repair. Well, why right to repair is essential for future engineers. Anyway, when I was a kid took apart everything in the house because I wanted to know how things worked. I didn't take apart the microwave though but that was only because it was over the range and at 12 years old I wasn't strong enough to take it out of the wall and cabinet. Anyway, I made a lot of mistakes in my tinkering. For example, I took apart one of my family TV's, the CRT kind, the big, heavy kind. That's when I discovered the flyback high discharge lead. Yes, it hurt. But I learned something. One, I needed to know how to safely discharge the CRT before poking around. Second, instructions, manuals, any type of learning materials would have been helpful had I been able to access them. I was a curious kid though and wanted to know (mind you, this was before the internet, the late 80's). I believe you should have the right to repair what you own, and maybe that's the real argument. But just because repairing your device might be a little dangerous isn't an excuse to prevent anyone from repairing it. If we teach our kids that it is too dangerous to investigate, to try and repair your cracked screen or replace the battery then we really are losing a generation of young engineers. I broke a lot of things growing up because I wanted to know how they worked. I accepted the consequences going into it and sometimes it was painful in more ways than one. But the value of hands-on learning and investigation was invaluable to me. So you need a heat gun to take the screen off your phone. So what. Lithium-Ion batteries are dangerous. So? Give us the information to be safe and repair these products ourselves. I guarantee you that there are some kids today that will not be intimated or stymied by the danger of a battery catching fire or industrial epoxy. If they want to take it apart they will. The question is are we going to help them put it back together. I'm ranting, but we're killing a generation of engineers because of corporate profit and control.
Possibly the most important video you’ve ever made on this channel. We need to be making a lot more noise for companies to even begin to consider this, or lawmakers to follow through on forcing action

As far as John Deere goes, a friend of mine had an issue related to the electronic control system, ecu, pcm, whatever you want to call it.

They also have two "arguments" about this:
1) user does not know if that is "genuine" part
2) it's safer when manufacturer does it.
And I have answers to those:
1) so sell those parts in your official store, Apple
2) Two things: a) apple is not the real manufacturer of those, it's usually some company in China, b) Samsung Note7 exploding battery, which was "genuine"

Let's not forget that it is not only about you repairing the device yourself at home, but that you can take it to any shop that you trust to make the repair.
It's about your choice:
1. Am I skilled enough to do it by myself.
2. Do I want to pay someone skilled enough to do it for me.
3. Or I don't want to repair and just buy new device.

"When you buy something, do you own it?"
If companies had their way, _everything would be a rental subscription._
You don't need to look at the obvious suspects of Apple and John Deere.
Just for clarity, a Publisher is different from a Storefront. GoG is a Storefront, CD Projekt would be the Publisher
But as a right, I don’t know about you but when I buy something it’s MINE!
You're just talking about software though. That's not really that relevant to this conversation. You don't "own" closed source software. You purchase a license to use that software.
Absolutely love your repair and restoration videos, one of my favorite channels 👍
@@TheSkcube 'so they make parts expensive and difficult to get.'

@@Tom_Stevens617 no my friend, they bar companies from getting a $5 part to independent repair companies and charge users $1500 to repair the same problem. I am not pointing out a particular manufacturer, just pointing out real world examples. Also another one, a company would not sell a $500 motor on an operating bed, did not allow the manufacturer of the motor to sell it directly to the hospital, but instead forced them to buy a new $10,000 operating bed.

Btw, I asked to just get the phone back broken and never got it.

I actually printed money when i was younger. This is probably a new feature
If the manufacturer can't make their money that way anymore, they're gonna be looking to get all that money up front.
the thing is i dont think they will. some brands sure but ie if apple goes a lot higher (using them as the example cause they're the most likely to) but samsung stays the same (they've been selling oem parts for their phones for years), more of your average consumers will be buying the cheaper samsung phones which in turn could hurt business for apple
doesnt the uk law explicitly exclude tech and phone manufacturers ?
@@RoraighPrice The law was introduced on July 8 & you’re right it excludes smart phones & laptops. Extremely annoying.
More and more I'm becoming inclined to go back to olden days and buy really cheap smart phones and just buying tablet's for media consumption so I can better manage their charge cycles.

but then, there goes the big guy, Apple, putting adhesive all over their phone, airpods, and their new headphone can't be turned off without the ugly case.
at least most batteries now is not soldered, and with prying tools and a careful hands, you could replace the battery.
Surface Mount Technology,
And many areas of High End Technology are capable of being repaired with the appropriate electronic knowledge, equipment and techniques, did this over 20 years ago.
Stop with this "It's because of safety" excuse, it's about all money and monopoly-like control.
Nice video 👍
@@lpfan724 tesla is the crApple of the car world. Anyone who buys a tesla deserves to suffer and pay out the ass.
Tech reviewers are consumers with a voice. Respect for posting this!

Two words came in mind when i read the title: “Louis Rossman”
I thought the same!

All hail Louis Rossman
The patron saint of repair!

That thumbnail thou 🔥
Super Saf style !
A random certified RUclipsr Commenting on the thumbnail only feels like you don't actually watch the videos and only here to get clout. Not cool
@@musicdz8135 bro why do people do this? Are verified users not allowed to comment anymore?
@@Not_Claptrap Bruh I never tell them not to, it's just not cool in my eyes, I prefer a comment talking about the situation that proves that they actually do watch the video and care about it. Not just some cheap comment for a clout, everyone could comment "The thumbnail is sick 🔥" without watching the video

I'm surprised you found a family friendly clip of Louis.
Lol! I thought that too!
lol
Nah, he isn't that bad 😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Louis is a boss ! 😎😂
