hey, thanks for doing this the way you did, It may seem like common sense to some people but common sense stuff escapes everyone from time to time, and being this thorough is much appreciated.
I'm a huge fan of stealth growing in all of its forms. Version 2.0 has the opportunity for a major improvement. The mirror floor of grow tents isn't for the plants. Having a mirror beneath the plants is unnecessary torcher and stress on the plants. The mirror floor sells tents and lights to growers who can see with their naked eyes that the tent with the mirror floor is 20% brighter to human eyes. But that extra 20% is cutting photosynthesis through the heat stress directly on the side of the leaf that doesn't do photosynthesis. The bottom of the leaf is for transpiration to cool off. And the mirror on the floor puts their panting mouth holes, called stoma, on the bottom of the leaf, in an oven of heat radiation. A black floor is horrible, but it's the best we can do until the plants casts shade over 100% of the floor. A white/mirror floor turns up the torcher to 11/10ths.
@@ElegantFinishes it would be "better" than a literal mirror. But green, brown, and black all still reflect heat. You don't get full efficiency from growth until the plants fully shade the floor.

This material looks like the material from some of those $1 car shades. I wonder if those shades could be used in similar way but at a cheaper cost than the Reflectix.
I think that would be an awesome route! The reflectix was the most expensive part of this and I think those car shades would work perfectly! It would drastically reduce the costs if you did that! Ps. Sorry for the late response!
Tubing is just pvc piping from Lowe’s. When you go to the PVC section (should be near the plumbing area) you can buy the PVC in I think like 10ft lengths. The elbows and Ts are right there next to them as well! Also, you can cut it with a saw but a PVC cutter is just a couple bucks and makes the job very easy.

Thank you, I appreciate it! It had a bit more light penetration than an actual grow tent you could buy, but it wasn’t bad! You just need to make sure it’s sealed well at the seams. I didn’t have ventilation in this one but it’s not a bad idea at all! Same with a window! I didn’t glue it together so I could tear it down and put it in storage and I had no issues with it. Let me know how it goes!
I thought about that as well after the fact! I thought about that or possibly some double sided tape. Whatever you end up doing, let me know how it goes! Eventually I will build another one so I would love to see how people improve upon it.
Possibly! I’ve always had something reflective in order to bounce the light around the tent more. Right now I do have a closet grow room with white walls though and it is working well for me!

Wow Brandon that looks awesome. I’ve been pouring over info and ideas for something like this and now my minds made up. I might add a window type cut and a couple of vent holes ? Did u have to glue the fittings and have you been able to determine any light penetration ? Again ‘ great job 👏👏👏👏🖖
Brandon Whitepepper one other thing about the light penetration thing is I’m gonna try using full Velcro strips along all edges🤔
I thought about that as well after the fact! I thought about that or possibly some double sided tape. Whatever you end up doing, let me know how it goes! Eventually I will build another one so I would love to see how people improve upon it.
I know this is old, but try using metal tape for duct work for the edges. The only thing that needs Velcro is the door
I've always read that covering the inside of a grow in white was better than silver
Possibly! I’ve always had something reflective in order to bounce the light around the tent more. Right now I do have a closet grow room with white walls though and it is working well for me!
@@WhitepepperFarmshomestead As my research continues I found a fantastic video from the channel MIGRO that has definitely changed my mind on the topic. ruclips.net/video/LQ-Hg_L011k/видео.html
How much did it cost to build
This is so small 🤣 but thanks for the concept 💯🙌🏽
This was the only year I was able to do one this small haha. If I could go back I would have gone bigger for sure, but at the time i just had a few garden starts that I needed to get a head start with!
@@WhitepepperFarmshomestead all love 💚❤️ I see now 😄
wow! that was brillant!
Hey thanks! Once I have enough room I want to do another one. Definitely going to change some things up and go much bigger than the first one!
@@WhitepepperFarmshomestead what you would change?
Marco Longari depending on what I was making it for I would go taller for sure, give me some space to hang the lights a bit easier! I would also most likely try using the car shades that are reflective rather than reflectix, just to save some more money!
GREAT idea, thank you so much. I just subbed to your channel. Thank you for taking the time to put this video together...
And thank you for taking the time to watch it!
Do you need ventilation
For what I used it for, I didn’t. I was using it for pepper plant starts for the garden and I didn’t have an issue with temperature or anything. I put a small little desk fan in there at one point but that was all!
It really just depends on what you’ll use it for though, but for me specifically I didn’t!
Planning on two diy hydro totes with a variety of super hots and 2 x 220v LED grow flood lights
I love it! You’ll have to let me know how it goes! I’m all about DIY hydro setups, i love that stuff!
What are the chances I build a 5ft version of this and hang a 7lbs 1200watt led panel that it breaks under the load?
If you did it with 1" PVC rather than 3/4" and made sure the sides were supported I don't think it would be an issue at all.
@@WhitepepperFarmshomesteadAwesome. Appreciate the feedback and the great ideas.
Anytime!
Thanks bro!!!
You’re welcome!
you can buy a grow tent for what it cost to make that
Total cost?
How much did you pay for the pipes
I don’t remember for sure, but they were just a few bucks each!
This is genius!!!
Hey thanks!
Great stuff and 👍Where u buy the PVC and reflectx? Hardware store? Or purchased online?
The reflectix I got on amazon, the PVC was just at Lowe’s!
Awesome 👍
How much was everything?
Love the organization and detail! Were you in the service?
I was not, but I’m not too experienced building things so when i do it, I need to have everything planned out to a T or else it won’t end up working out for me 😂
excellent... thank you
Look for trade show tent fixtures.
What is the name of reflective thing you use as cover?
It's on the video description
