I used the Velcro so I could take it down and put it back up easily, and it seems that idea worked out really well! For those of you thinking of building something like this, I hope this helps!

    I'm a huge fan of stealth growing in all of its forms. Version 2.0 has the opportunity for a major improvement.
    The mirror floor of grow tents isn't for the plants. Having a mirror beneath the plants is unnecessary torcher and stress on the plants. The mirror floor sells tents and lights to growers who can see with their naked eyes that the tent with the mirror floor is 20% brighter to human eyes. But that extra 20% is cutting photosynthesis through the heat stress directly on the side of the leaf that doesn't do photosynthesis. The bottom of the leaf is for transpiration to cool off. And the mirror on the floor puts their panting mouth holes, called stoma, on the bottom of the leaf, in an oven of heat radiation.
    A black floor is horrible, but it's the best we can do until the plants casts shade over 100% of the floor. A white/mirror floor turns up the torcher to 11/10ths.

    • @ElegantFinishes
      @ElegantFinishes 2 года назад +1

      Would a grass green floor be ideal?

    • @gawagrassartwithaetherlyte2754
      @gawagrassartwithaetherlyte2754 2 года назад +1

      @@ElegantFinishes it would be "better" than a literal mirror. But green, brown, and black all still reflect heat. You don't get full efficiency from growth until the plants fully shade the floor.

    Thank you! Just an idea, of which I will be trying, use a dog crate. If you don't have one I guarantee someone close to you would be jumping at the chance to let you take it off their hands after Fido is house broken and trained. One big enough of course. Should be minimal assembly need on a used one. And hey, if you decide you don't want to use it anymore just break it down and build yourself a trellis for the garden. If you happen to miss using that old grow cage.... you know what to do.

    Wow Brandon that looks awesome. I’ve been pouring over info and ideas for something like this and now my minds made up. I might add a window type cut and a couple of vent holes ? Did u have to glue the fittings and have you been able to determine any light penetration ? Again ‘ great job 👏👏👏👏🖖

    • @WhitepepperFarmshomestead
      @WhitepepperFarmshomestead  5 лет назад +2

      Thank you, I appreciate it! It had a bit more light penetration than an actual grow tent you could buy, but it wasn’t bad! You just need to make sure it’s sealed well at the seams. I didn’t have ventilation in this one but it’s not a bad idea at all! Same with a window! I didn’t glue it together so I could tear it down and put it in storage and I had no issues with it. Let me know how it goes!

    • @mikeleo5990

    I am in love with this video and have probably watched it like 5 tames! I have never done something like this and your video has really inspired me. I am not sure if you are still answering questions, but if you are I have a couple. I am using this box for plants and or veggies if that helps.
    First question: After reading your comment section about ventilation, you said you used a desk fan, how did you do this? Did you hook it up to your PVC or kinda set it on the ground and let it go.
    Second Question: GROW LIGHTS I have been searching a good one, do you remember the ones you use? Or maybe have ones that you would recommend?
    Third and maybe my last: How do you attached/ hang things! Do I need thicker PVC for the cross top support. Does the 3/4 size offer the best support for the frame/any lights or anything else that needs to be hung .
    Last question for real! : I need to put wrapping on the bottom as well? Rather how can I support the bottom for easy transport
    .....
    I think that's it. I mean also if anyone else has any suggestions that would be cool.

    • @WhitepepperFarmshomestead
      @WhitepepperFarmshomestead  3 года назад +4

      I will do my best to answer all your questions!
      The fan was just a small little fan and I ended up using zip ties to attach it to the pvc in one of the top corners.
      I have always used KING LED lights off Amazon. Middle of the road price point and I’ve always been able to grow everything really well with them. In general.. I always tend to go with any kind of LED grow lights but there are other options out there.
      I never had any issues when attaching things to the 3/4” PVC along the cross beams on the top, it supported it pretty well!!
      As far as the bottom... I never moved it after I had things in it without taking stuff out. I am sure you could reinforce the bottom and make that possible thought!
      I think I got most of the questions in there haha. I hope this helps, please reach out of you have more questions!

      Marco Longari depending on what I was making it for I would go taller for sure, give me some space to hang the lights a bit easier! I would also most likely try using the car shades that are reflective rather than reflectix, just to save some more money!

    I was going to use a very large dog crate, but velcro the mylar to the outside. Can I keep the top uncovered so that I can hang the light to the cieling above the crate? Its in the basement so there's no chance of any other light getting in...

    How much pipes did you get and how long

    • @WhitepepperFarmshomestead
      @WhitepepperFarmshomestead  5 лет назад

      I bought a bundle of 10 pipes, but a lot of that went to other projects. I think total I used close to 50ft of pipe to build this. The box is 4ft long x 3ft tall x 2ft deep. Using the same basic steps though you could make this any size you needed! Just make sure the walls and ceiling are supported by some cross beams and pillars like I have on this one.

    If i didn't already have a tent and a room I'd of made this outta plumbing pipe and panda film. The biggest issue i see with this is your not gonna be able to keep that thing up and moving for more than a year max with PVC, Not to mention you need a weak and lite lamp in that little room you built... Try putting a carbon filter in there suspended from PVC Pipe? lol it's gonna be a nice mess with some plants slightly sticking out of a pile of coal in a month or two.
    A nice idea, but you should still scale it up a bit with more durable materials. I have a buddy who built a decent tent/room outta left over 2x4's, plywood, and panda film. I think he had to buy the film and the screws, but the thing cost him a little less than a hundred dollars and he's able to hang a decent carbon filter up nice and high, two 315 cmh lamps, mount fans anywhere on the walls or ceiling, cut holes practically anywhere that needs a ducting hole.
    If you have the time, materials and skills it can be better to simply build your own room/tent thing, but if you don't have one of those three ingredients your gonna wanna simply buy one from your local grow store. Gorilla and Yield Lab both make great tents for hobbyist who might need a space, but don't exactly know what types of features are needed for the space. They're also really durable, easy to set up and have logical arrangements for everything you might need during your grow. Good luck you MacGyver like farmers.

    What are the chances I build a 5ft version of this and hang a 7lbs 1200watt led panel that it breaks under the load?

    • @WhitepepperFarmshomestead
      @WhitepepperFarmshomestead  5 лет назад +2

      If you did it with 1" PVC rather than 3/4" and made sure the sides were supported I don't think it would be an issue at all.

      The cords or how do I hang them? The cords I just left a small part with no Velcro, ran the cord through, and then just used the Velcro to seal around it the best I could. As far as the lights, I hung it with the cables that come with the lights and I hooked it onto the top PVC.
