    Years ago I grew a cucumber plant in the middle of a Tasmanian winter, in a cupboard like that, with just a desk lamp for warmth and light. It grew, flowered and fruited. And, amazingly, it attracted aphids! :-)

    tip for you bro... cover the exhaust vent the light is shining through. A its not so stealthy with the light showing. but more importantly B.. whish is if you can see light on the outside then light will get inside in the dark cycle. This can cause malting during flowering stages which throws the plant back into veg. Watch out!!

    Awesome job man! Planning to do something similar with a metal storage cabinet. Only suggestion I have is putting the vents on the back of the wardrobe/cabinet so they face the wall. The vents kind of give it away but they wouldn’t be seen on the back. Just need a piece of ducting going 90 degrees to the back. Thanks for the video and ideas!

  • @marneybanana1985

    Mate, loved this, I tried something similar when I was about 16 but with the wrong light- a 100w house hold light bulb!! Should have seen how much the plant stretched...lols. Anyways to fix the light leak, two options, a square of shade cloth om each side of the vent (so two for each vent) def helps alot, or better option is you add a small box over the vent hole and cut the vent hole out of the bottom of the box and put the vent there, paint inside of box black too- and you can direct any light down or to the back wall if you prefer. otherwise ive seen ducting used to cover the vent hole and then have a vent over the end near the floor. But its a great way to have some fun at home in a small space, just dont use any light other than a LED or you will likely start a fire. I got close FYI with an Incandesant bulb.

    Pure white, being the most reflective color, is at the other end of the scale at 100 because it doesn't absorb light or warmth. Colors that fall below 50 on the LRV scale will absorb more light than they reflect. Shades above 50 help create a daytime look and add a feeling of expansion to a space.

    Not a huge fan of hydro but this almost convinces me to consider it. Great idea. I would definitely insulate the whole thing on the inside with insulation board or insulation tape and put some gaskets on all the exposing cracks. If you use the bottom drawer to use to remove the whole plant, it would make cleaning very easy and you could fit a humidifier in there. I argue against that light. Led full spectrum is where it's at bro. Vivosun sells small fans and awesome carbon filters that you connect to it. Definitely gonna make a video next year or this winter after I shop around WalMart sometimes. Too much going on right now but when I do, I will be mentioning you. I haven't seen anyone make one of these even though it is the most simple ways to get away with a grow room in your apartment

    Got motivated from this video to make my first grow with Ebb and Flow; height became an issue as the closet was only 4 feet usable, but removed the top shelve and have an amazing plant growing. Thanks for all your sharing, the good and the bad!! I cant see where to upload a photo, but i am a couple to 3 weeks from final flush and the biggest bud is 10" 's and there is about 15 buds at least, not bad for a 3' by 2' cabinet

    good idea, nice video. you have to work on 3 major problems with this: or en general
    1. sound (use silent ventilator and build 2 sound isolation arount vent with towels etc.)
    2. light (better put a whole grow tent into a wardrobe and check then when is dark in room),
    3. smell depends on grow stage. 4. better put the openenings behind wardrobe and let bit more space to wall then nobody sees this + also wiith cables (energy).

    Great stuff. I have a two door wardrobe with a rail at the top. Space is roughly the same size. I have a 300w full spectrum bulb hanging from the rail, a grow bag tray, which I water and three one gallon grow bags with a compost, coco bark and perlite mix, ready to transplant my three young ladies. Oh yes, small desk fan to keep air circulating. That’s it. Everything was scavenged from around the house and garden. Only thing that I bought was the 300w led full spectrum bulb for £25. No filter, nothing complex, just a very low cost setup. Oh yes, I also splashed out on hard white plastic reflective sheets which I’ve stuck to the inside area because it’s brown wood.
    Anything simpler than that? Yes, plant your beans in the garden when it gets warmer and sunnier.

    Me personally, I wouldn't have ran the duct work like that. I would have put a carbon filter inlet into the hole filter face down into the grow space. And then hooked up the fan right where you had it. And I would have blocked off that entire area so it closes off from the rest of the cabinet. That way the fan would draw air from that upper area essentially taking the heat from the ballast out of the cabinet as well. That's just me though. Plants hate it when it gets above 85+ slows growth production dramatically when too hot. Otherwise I think this is a fantastic build nonetheless.

Might give you more grow space, or upper area me ght have enough space for a small carbon filter and in line vent fan.

  • @HelenBack-i5w
    @HelenBack-i5w 10 месяцев назад

    How does one deal with the smell? Doesn’t the exhaust vent just “vent” the smell straight into the room? I’ve heard of venting out a window, but wouldn’t that possibly attract passerby’s or neighbors to be able to smell it also? I plan on growing different varieties of tomato plants this winter. And if you’ve ever smelled just one tomato plant you know they can smell strong, depending on variety. Can you imagine having multiple varieties?? I’d love to have a this or something similar that I could be 100 percent sure that the smell of my 🍅 plants wouldn’t be too obnoxious! 🤔🤔🤔🤔

    • @Cyber_Dunes
      @Cyber_Dunes 9 месяцев назад

      In case you're still curious, if you have one (or even two) activated charcoal filters before the exhaust there will be a lot less smell. Now with his wardrobe method you will probably leak a lot of air which could be quite stinky, you could fix the leaks with some sort of seal, like putting duct tape or foam in the gaps where you see light shining out, it would also get rid of a lot of that light, and would make the build even more stealth. As well as keeping the box at "negative pressure" which means you have more airflow going out of the box than going in, so all the gaps in the box will be sucking in air rather than pushing out. You will need to run the fan(s) more, both to push the air through the filter, and to keep it at negative pressure so it could get loud which might reduce the overall stealth. So the important question is: what's worse, a loud grow box, or a smelly one?

    I think your on to something. Definitely giving others ideas to go with. I don't necessarily know if a hydroponic setup is good for this application. Water and wood don't mix especially particle board and mdf. Secondly you can't be stealth with that amount of light. Third most people would consider something like this if they were growing cannabis. No one is trying to hide tomatoes. If I can see light that means your not hiding any smells or odors especially when the plant starts to flower. Keep tweaking this setup and you'll eventually be able to hide this in plain sight.

      Peter Lister I’d highly recommend the spiderfarmer SF1000 I’ve got three of them. Worth every cent. The mars hydro TS 1000 is the other light. It’s good too. But for me in the long run the spiderfarmer will pay itself off in saved electricity.

    If someone were to grow smelly plants in there and had a powerful fan with an activated carbon filter, would the negative pressure enough to keep the smell from leaking through the doors? Since there quite a gap.

    • @egalegal1666
      @egalegal1666 3 года назад

      if you have negative pressure despite the leakage yes
      Large gaps?
      where light can go out, light can also go in and that is bad in the bloom
      At night it must be completely dark
      the video is garbage just like the implementation of the cabinet
      PLEASE do not take this video as a benchmark for your closet

    I live in a 4 bed house but the back bedroom has no windows for whatever reason im really considering removing the door walling it in cutting out a new entry slightly smaller than the size of a wardrobe using the actual wardrobe for its legit reasons. But make it a false back opening up into an entire grow room with the closet being for nutrient storage clones and mother plants. Anyone have any other ideas or think that's just stupid
