If you keep the rear suspension softer, it’ll grip like a beast. I have steeda sport/koni str.t combo and can also recommend the Whiteline upper and lower control arms and their panhard rod with support! Zero axle hop and it sticks like glue while cornering under full throttle and out of the hole. Dude, no traction control/advance track needed! You can throw it into corners and it blasts out of them like a demon. Sucker stays glued with stock Pzeros.

I had a 2000 Mustang GT, also manual, also with full bolt-ons. My best quarter-mile run at the track in the Florida heat was 13.99 which was achieved only after someone recommended reducing my rear tire pressures to 14 PSI to ensure better traction. My next fastest time was with a passenger who was my daughter-in-law (weight about 120 pounds) helping with the traction also. The reduced tire pressures worked the best - I believe I had drag radials at the time which are street-legal.

Only thing you need now is the upper intake manifold from the Ford F150. Also go for some 410 gears. And try to not dump the clutch when you takeoff launch it has about 2500 to 3000 RPM. He will improve your times drastically.

What was the outside temperature when you ran it? My 03 GT has stock suspension (but has orange Koni struts and shocks). Factory air box, larger TB, steeda under drive pulleys, Breenspeed 93 tune, stock gears 3.31, steeda short shifter, racing seats, SR mufflers only, stock exhaust, and SVT cobra wheels like you but 275-40. On a 70 degree day at sea level my draggy does 5.8 consistently to 60 mph. I have the heavy Mach 1000 sound system in the trunk. Engine has 132k miles on it.

Honestly I don't like new age mustangs for their speed because let's be honest unless you supercharged them they are not race cars. I love them because those two valves sound awesome with upgraded exhausts, and when you get the manual version they are so much fun to drive. There are also so many appearance mods you can do to these cars to make them look so cool. They may not be everyone's first choice when they think of mustangs but in my opinion these are definitely one of the best mustangs you can buy for a daily.

  • @gr8whitestang613

The car isn’t crammed. Any aftermarket cams for the PI cars have a noticeable lope to them. If the person sold it to you and claimed it had bigger cams, you need to get some money back. Not bashing you at all. I have just had cammed 2V cars and been around many cammed Modular’s. We don’t get any real higher lift cams, they are all bigger duration. That makes them lopey.
I get learning on the new edge manual. Doing pretty well starting out. It is great to learn on such a manual input car. The clutch is still manually operated. The shifter is directly into the transmission, no sloppy weak linkages. You can feather the clutch a bit with the cable operated cars, not so much with a hydraulic clutch. Helps on those launches, just don’t ride the heck out of the clutch. Find out if you have an upgraded short throw shifter with positive shift stops, like a Pro 5.0or Steeda. Those definitely save your transmission from damage on most bad shifts and actually help you go from 2 to 3.
I would suggest dyno running the car to see what it makes and where it makes it. Typically the stock PI lower intake chokes the car at about 5600 RPM. Once you see where the car is making power you can know when best to shift. For instance the stock intakes choke the car about 5500 RPM and after 5700 the hp falls off. So at 5500 I would no lift shift it for 2nd and 3rd if you have one of those previously mentioned shifters. Not just the handle, the actual shifter with the shift stops. Also, best place to hash this thing out is the track. It will launch a tad better there and aid in you consistency.

Unfortunately the 2V and 3V are obsolete platforms. Sure, you can go all out and make crazy power, but you can't do it on a stock block or rotating assembly. They're good for cruising around and having fun, but that's about it. They're basically classic cars at this point. Unless you Coyote swap it... then 1000HP on a stock block...
From a performance standpoint, they're trash, from a car guy standpoint, they're cool cars you can have fun with, but don't expect to win a lot of races.
