How come your UK distributor are charging over $400 for this? Scam!!
I bought one of these to strip a car and it is working out pretty well for me. It does what they say. It is easier on metal than a rotary grinder. You get two media cylinders with the SCT unit, one for stripping the other for finer work. I bought another on Amazon for cheap, so don't let the expensive media cylinder hold you back. I have a large 50's car I am stripping, I estimate I will only need 2 - 3 cylinders for the whole car. Be sure to use a HEPA rated dust filter for breathing, hearing and eye protection too.
I have used mine since they day they released this, it is awesome and a ‘must have’ for any bodyshop
I bought one of these about a year ago. I was able to strip my body panels down to bare metal in about an hour each. Low heat. It’s a beast! Far better than stripper. One of the best restoration tools I have. Gary
Love to hear it!
Bragging on the wrong Eastwood product but my son and I got the steering rack off my 914 project car, Rusty Sunday. The car hasn’t been titled since 1992 but sometime during its use the rack protection cover was removed. The rack looked awful. I got out the bead blaster I bought several years ago but had never used. Wow! It cleaned up that aluminum casting so quickly.
That looks awesome
this is the coolest new tool I've seem in a long time. make you wonder why this wasn't thought of a long time ago.
Because before 2017 there was a chemical that made this job easy as pie called metylene chloride. Like muriatic acid, extreme caution and proper PPE must be practiced, when handling the chemical. Ppl used it for years without any problems until it really caught on with diy average Joes, and they would use it inside a garage without a respirator and a bunch of ppl died from cancer because of it, so EPA said bye bye to methylene chloride and the days of easy paint stripping are long gone, this stuff would literally melt paint like wax before your eyes. Companies have tried hard to find replacement, but nothing has, nor ever will come close to the real thing and now chemical paint strippers are like 3 times as much.
That looks ideal
looks impressive.
very useful tool for heavy job

Looks USEFUL!
Works great !
One tool to rule them all.
Is there a newer version of this in 2023 jjus asking didn't realize this video was made 6years ago it's pretty nice considering every vid about removing paint consist of more then 2tools this is 1,in all
This would be perfect to polish the welded mitres on stainless square tubing.
Guess this will have to be my next tool to purchase since the EPA made the days of easy paint stripping illegal because ppl can't wear a freaking respirator.
This looks great, prob a cheaper alternative to soda blasting- I'll add to the wish list!
Jay.S
I just purchased one along with the drum accessories and look forward to seeing how it works.
Sam's Garage I look forward to seeing you use it
Thanks, I guess you don't have much stripping left on the Camaro, but maybe the next one! I'll put up a vid on it when it comes in. Anything to limit the use of the blaster.
Sam's Garage yeah I have lots of stripping to do , my camaro has several paint jobs and very thick bondo , not including stripping the blazer , so I hope it works well for you
How'd it work?
For something as useful as this, 200$ is a steal! No joke I'm gonna get one soon! Way better than using angle grinders and sanders!
Always love to hear from Real Eastwood Guys!
if you wait awhile the price will go down
Is it safe to use on an aluminum hood or will it overheat it and warp it. Total beginner but I have to strip my Ford hood before painting.
this will save so much time prepping pipe and cleaning my material will be a breeze. more time under the hood. how could I not get it?
looks cool.
This look so satisfying.
Wow. It cleans already cleaned but slightly dirty metal quite efficiently.
Check out the videos where it strips layers of paint, primer, filler and rust, including one that will be posted later today.
Do you have 240 voltage ? I'm looking for it works by 240 voltage
What drum do you recommend for taking off two layers of paint and body filler?
Cheaper then media blasting I suppose. I just wonder how long the wheel/drums last? Will one drum/wheel remove primer+ paint down to bare metal and do a complete car or full size pickup? Or will I need to buy multiple drums/wheels
This is one bad ass tool..............
Yep...built for Real Eastwood Guys.
What drum do you recommend for taking off paint and body filler
And how long do the drums last
pretty cool
Works..for plane surfaces.
Do they come with polishing wheel.
πολύ καλό!!
Necesito una donde las venden
Anyone know if there is lead in car paint from the 60s?
This does indeed look impressive. But man, I sure wish it could also do dust-collection.
perhaps cut a hole in the shield and attach hose from your shop vac , I was thinking the same Dust-collection would be perfect .
Donde las venden me interesa comprarl una
So how long does one drum last and how much is it to replace it???
Love love love this tool. Just got it today, and was so excited with how it did my rusty wheelbarrow, I tried it out on my next door neighbor's ugly rusted 49 Chevy rat rod pickup.
He's been working on that silly thing for years, yet it still looks terrible. The paint's all rusty and faded, to say the least -- so I re-surfaced his entire hood for him just to show what this baby can do. I'll help him primer it this weekend in time for the annual rat rod show he goes to over the Holidays each year.
Now I can't wait until he gets home and sees what a great job I did. I'm sure he'll want to borrow my tool to finish the rest of the car!
Ok just kidding.....there is no neighbor and no 49 pickup.
But I still think I am in love with this tool just from watching the video. I mean, look at that thing!
fenderstratguy u had me for a second there
You are not even a good liar. I was thinking DUMBASS...most rat rods are rusty for a reason. LOL
Hope you got a good set of sneakers
Cause when he gets home you better be running
@@yellowskunk3465 No; im not!
How can i have this contour sct tool and i am from india
@ Eastwood Company At 2.22 mins looked just like Batman's Bike hitting the kerb :)
台灣有賣嗎
Where is it made and what's the warranty?
i need one
Just got mine today.... 😁
How dose it work for you
@@richhalmuth160 great I wish I would have gotten it sooner
would be even better if it has a dust extraction capabilities !
Yea how many drums does it take to do a car
Price ?
How noisy is it ??
how can you keep the bare metal from rusting after taking off the paint?
You can use Eastwood Fast Etch: www.eastwood.com/eastwood-s-fast-etch.html
I would love to see this tackle the infamous and alien Porsche 911 glue residue. All have failed.
How well does it remove undercoat?
I hear oven cleaner works great on undercoating. I might be giving it a whirl and do a vid on my 72 satellite
Send me one,so I can test it!
Eastwood doing a corvair.
I AM CONCERNED ABOUT THE SURFACE DAMAGE OF THE METAL . Is the surface remain unaffected after removal of paint ?
If you see even small scratches it's removing metal.
Do you have replacement parts for this tool? i have called twice and the lady said she would get back to me but never calls back. i would really like to fix my tool.
Damn
Can I get this or something similar in the UK?
Check out FROST in the UK for Eastwood products.
Can this be used on fiberglass?
We don't recommend the Contour SCT for fiberglass. It is great for removing paint, filler and rust on steel, or even sanding wood.
Can you get these suckers in 240 volt?
Just 120 at this time. But they work amazing for paint, filler, rust...even sanding wood decks.
That's a bummer. Where Im at, 240volt is the norm so that little sucker will get its arse smoked if I plug one in.
Anyone use this on fiberglass yet? (ie corvette)
I heard it can be to abrasive for fiberglass but if you're careful enough you can use it on fiberglass with the " primer ready " drum.
i live in south africa, where can i buy one?
Vic Pienaar the guy that passes thru town on the albino elephant once every other month has some once every 9 times he passes thru. Getting the drums to go with it is another story.
Are they machined gears or powdered metal?
Manintoga he's asking for the chooch factor.
Fuckin love that guy
Does this remove epoxy primer down to bare metal? If so which wheel/drum would I need. Greatly appreciated. I'm a do it yourself back yard car guy. Thanks
It will strip epoxy. There are many different grist and styles of drums available. www.eastwood.com/eastwood-contour-sct
This will absolutely do the job. But I'm not willing to pay 300 dollars for it. Maybe think about a price change option
Now it's listed for $199.99
How long does that drum last?
It varies based on project, pressure, etc. - we stripped a 93 mustang hood and it used maybe 25% of a drum.
Do you have this tool on 220V ?
Not at this time.
OK. but it will be runing yust fine on some convertor?
so this machine need power supply 110v .l would like to know
Click the product link and you'll find out.
A dust collector would be nice
If you don't want to wind up with emphysema and don't want to expire with about a pound of rust/paint dust in your lungs.
Got a cordless?
No cordless currently but with a long extension cord you won't have limited mobility. The power cord comes out of the back of the machine and doesn't interfere with the work area.
$200 + $50 per drum vs $30 + $5 per cleaning disk
Dam $200! thatsthe price of the welder I bought.
It's about 1/2 to 1/4 the price of similar tools.
its too bulky for small places
TheMarcusGomez well you my friend are past the point of being cheap lolll thats not a welder you bought, might as well weld with batteries lolll
Vega-Expert it was an eastwood mig 135 welder.
I figured it would be around 325.00 to 350.00 (because it was new and there was nothing else like it) and was pleasantly surprised when I went to their website. The question is; "How much are the consumables?" i.e. the abrasive drums? They are pricey at 20 bucks a pop but they may be worth it if they are durable and last awhile. I *wish* I coulda found a $200.00 welder when I was in the market. I got a Hobart Handler at a reasonable price but it was twice what you paid.
how much this machine
$200 for the machine. $60 each for the abrasive drum.
Love the damn thing.....drums just cost too much. So it sits in tool box unless high paying job
We have a large variety of drums, including Interleaf Drums which cost less than the Abrasive Drum: www.eastwood.com/eastwood-contour-sct-interleaf-stripping-drum-120-grit.html
The abrasive drum is thick and has a lot of surface area, so it still costs less than buying a lot of abrasive drums for a grinder.
Laser works better.
How much!!!
Take my money!!!!
$200
Nice
I'm getting one!!!
I'm curious, how do you have over 50,000 views and 28 response's? if this gets deleted I'll have my answer.
My guess is that people who purchased and used this tool will comment on the product page at Eastwood.com. Empire Fabrication posted a video on their Facebook Page that has over 600k views and 1,200 comments, if you're interested. facebook.com/search/top/?q=empire%20fabrication%20contour
Real men use 240v.....
WTF is the difference? 6Amps @120 or 3Amps @ 240...it's not a compressor, real man.
Voltage doesn't kill you, amperage does. If anything, people running 110-120 volt machines are 'real men' with their higher amperage motors. Idiot.
@@fotopfanatic Hahaha wow.. It was a tongue in cheek comment directed towards Eastwood, to make one for export markets like Australia.. Where we use 240v single phase standard outlets lol. You need to relax my dude.
This thing is worthless ! Don’t waist ur money !
