I'm getting a "This video is not available on this device" error message when viewing on my laptop and phone. It seems that this video has been unplayable for the past few months. Please fix this The Futur!!!
This insight is awesome and sharing it openly to everyone is just human.
Hi, Chris & Ali. Great episode. I already viewed it twice to make sure I haven't miss anything. Many ideas that I wasn't sure for myself were clearly delivered by both of you. Thanks a lot! My niche is packaging design for retail & e-tail, but your business approach to digital design or naming are perfectly applied to my field.
@The Futur Can you make this available or re-upload the video?
I love the point about that your work is a magnet for some you WANT to attract and a filter to keep the ones you don’t want away! I often see so many different portfolio pieces on designer’s website and that is not the way to get higher paying clients. Specialization is vital and will put you as an authority in a niche and naturally people will also think you’re great at other things. You don’t get “pinned down” as I’ve heard some people say. It’s actually so rewarding and it’s refreshing to hear others saying this too. Loved the interview! Thanks a lot as always Chris and thanks Eli😊
This is a phenomenal point, and alleviates the main concern I’ve had in recent years, in regards to niching down.
Makes total sense that you’re just focusing on your strengths, rather than categorically ruling out any project that falls outside of your niche.
Thank you for the videos. You guys do a great job and you have helped me a lot.
Great Livestream! Thanks for the motivation boost, I really need it in these summer times!
I've been working on making a branding portfolio over this summer but been lacking motivation lately. But the Livestream was a great boost 🥰
You got this!
Eyyyyyyyy! Thanks for sharing your knowledge!
Great content as always. Thank you!
Yes!! Made it!! 10k+!! Let's GOOOOOO!! Good for you Eli & thank you Jonah. You're fine ((wait, as in Jonah didn't like: commit a crime, he just was human, & that's what I've always liked about @thefutur & @chrisdo, no corporate robots here & the chemistry that Chris navigates is real as well as kind))). I shut off my system, double checked my portable speaker, & thought it was on my end. Laughed & was relieved when I noticed you guys resolved it. The pricing question & answers added value to my viewing experience in many ways.
Again: this (remote) talk was awesome & real. #runstudiorun
This is awesome !!! Very informative 👌 truly legendary 🔥🔥🔥
29:30 is proof you watched it all the way through.
Excellent insights. You just had to be there.
Awesome talk, great value! Definitely gonna get his book. Pretty sure Eli is the voice of Bob from Bob’s Burgers 😂
Run studio run, the only book that understands us creative little business owners... man, you find the best subject to write on, I bought it while watching the video and began to read, thanks for sharing your knowledge
Awesome!!
thanks erwan!

Networking is definitely great to get new clients. Even though i run a digital agency, half of my clients still come from referrals.
I've been following @thefutur for 2 years now and this has been one of my favorite episodes. 2 humans approaching the same topic in their own ways and mingling 🔥💕🔥💕🔥. I've graduated into 2020 Crisis as a graphic designer. I've landed my 1st client for brand strategy + Identity and I'm about to wrap it up and man do i relate to this episode 😂. Keep up the good work guys! Love from Australia.
True!! I agreed!!
good luck out there daniel
Thanks! Could you please turn the subtitles on? 🙏
Bought both books!
Stoked to see The Futur back on their game!
Thanks for taking the time to share your wisdom Eli! I enjoyed hearing your saying that as creators, we should be building projects as if we (us, personally) are the client. This helps keep my personal work in perspective when using portfolio work to applying for agency positions or freelance work.
Boom!
thanks connor! make it happen.
37:06 Psst Jona! When Chris stops looking at the camera and starts reading all the RUclips comments, don't show his face.
Full-screen Eli, he is pouring his heart out!
we can't be perfect all the time.
Thank you for sharing! 🙌
My pleasure!!
Good point from Chris and Eli:
"The degree to which you can be replaced reduces your leverage !"
The more valuable you are, the more difficult it would be for your clients to swift to your competitors.
I also think that this concept apply to your location and business field.
Let's take 1 min to think about our position and value in the market. "Generalist or specialist"
yep
I like that it is sorted
Great episode.
I feel like this couldn't have come at a better time. I've been a graphic designer for over a decade and got laid off due to the pandemic. Have been trying to find my niche and now pitching to large clients but realising I need to bring more to the table rather than just my design skills and industry experience. Most clients such as project managers with a decent budget to work with prefer a one-stop-shop. If you're offering branding, web development, and ongoing marketing support you need to start bringing on extra hands fast.
Glad to hear. Hope this helps. Tough times don't last but tough people do.
@@thefutur The Futur has been my personal bible for the past year or so, so the current situation has been a perfect excuse to put what I've picked up along the way to use rather than coasting along as an in-house designer for another decade.
Three of my favourite lessons from this channel:
- Find your niche / identify where you can position yourself as a top contender in the market
.
- Know your value. A handful of high-value clients who respect your work are worth more than a thousand clients who will challenge you over every dollar and minute.
- Be a problem solver / look deeper than "this client wants a logo which looks like X Y or Z". Set them up with direction and strategy to improve their chances of success and add value to your product.
My thanks to The Futur team - keep up the great content!
Greeeat one!!!!
I saved this for a later but seems like It has been listed private. Can you guys link where to listen this?
There was a time I was used to share your channel with new designers, now everyone tells me in advance that their favourite channel is the futur :)
Thanks for sharing! That's a sign that you did a great job!
You do a great job.
6:48 why would we listen? *(Eli Altman ~the story of the book Run Studio Run)
I need to hire Chris Do to be my MC at my wedding, those intros are dope.
haha.

Love 💓 Futur ❤️
40:00 Who else started jumping up and down when Chris talked his TUF/UFC gig?!
This video says it’s unavailable for mobile, desktop (chrome/safari) FYI!
The futur going hard
I don't have any comment on the content, because as always the team of Futur, Chris Do and the Guests coming are always giving deep insights, for FREE. I have loved the work of the team, and have been loving what they do. I just don't understand the 5 person who disliked this video!! What? Why did you DISLIKE it? You didn't pay for such a professional presentation, you could've clicked it off if you think you didn't like it(if you think), and if you genuinely found it to be not something you expected(which happens) then simply walkaway or give some constructive feedback. Disliking such a content, is just disrespectful.
On other notes, I would like to request this to the team of Futur. As you must have been aware that your channel is being viewed by a huge audience from India, would love some Creative Entrepreneurs who belong from here, and can share their work, experience which a lot of times is drastically different from other countries. Just something, which a lot of people would like to watch and will learn a lot from.
Great work nonetheless, as always :)
can't please everyone.
@@thefutur That is true. But it is not about you pleasing them, it is about the persons who does this. :O
Did you read the Indian part? If so, it would be really exciting. :)
I showed up did the work and did the gig. #thankyounext #askmeela
I have an idea to write a book on the process of branching out from the architectural industry and building online like 30X40, how do I present such a concept to a firm that I have no relation to/with. #runstudiorun
Questions are the most important and powerful tool you have. My rare unique question is: why would you not hire me? #runstudiorun
@Shifa Zhong Clearly the hardest question in life.
I have never been more awake at 5 AM.
Awesome!!
Eli looks exactly like Beardyman
It's saying the video is unavailable o. This device. Was it taken down?

Chris or the futur, whats the story behind "unlisting the video if it doesn't reach 10k views before monday"?
People ask for long videos then don’t tune in.
@@thefutur What? That doesn't mean they won't.. Whoever made that decision needs a brain check, in my opinion. I miss The Skool.
How to grow a creative agency, by someone who's dad grew an agency and than let him work. As soon as I heard that, I shut the podcast off. I absolutely don't want to listen to that stuff, he had where to fall and he had a safety net, so can't take him seriously.
If the advice is good then it’s good. Eat the chicken. Spit out the bones.
@@thefutur Listening to Futur, it's always chicken and some beef too!
We have filet o fish Fridays. ;)
