Hi, Chris & Ali. Great episode. I already viewed it twice to make sure I haven't miss anything. Many ideas that I wasn't sure for myself were clearly delivered by both of you. Thanks a lot! My niche is packaging design for retail & e-tail, but your business approach to digital design or naming are perfectly applied to my field.

I love the point about that your work is a magnet for some you WANT to attract and a filter to keep the ones you don’t want away! I often see so many different portfolio pieces on designer’s website and that is not the way to get higher paying clients. Specialization is vital and will put you as an authority in a niche and naturally people will also think you’re great at other things. You don’t get “pinned down” as I’ve heard some people say. It’s actually so rewarding and it’s refreshing to hear others saying this too. Loved the interview! Thanks a lot as always Chris and thanks Eli😊

This is a phenomenal point, and alleviates the main concern I’ve had in recent years, in regards to niching down.
Makes total sense that you’re just focusing on your strengths, rather than categorically ruling out any project that falls outside of your niche.

Yes!! Made it!! 10k+!! Let's GOOOOOO!! Good for you Eli & thank you Jonah. You're fine ((wait, as in Jonah didn't like: commit a crime, he just was human, & that's what I've always liked about @thefutur & @chrisdo, no corporate robots here & the chemistry that Chris navigates is real as well as kind))). I shut off my system, double checked my portable speaker, & thought it was on my end. Laughed & was relieved when I noticed you guys resolved it. The pricing question & answers added value to my viewing experience in many ways.
Again: this (remote) talk was awesome & real. #runstudiorun

Keep up the good work guys! Love from Australia.

Thanks for taking the time to share your wisdom Eli! I enjoyed hearing your saying that as creators, we should be building projects as if we (us, personally) are the client. This helps keep my personal work in perspective when using portfolio work to applying for agency positions or freelance work.

Good point from Chris and Eli:
"The degree to which you can be replaced reduces your leverage !"
The more valuable you are, the more difficult it would be for your clients to swift to your competitors.
I also think that this concept apply to your location and business field.
Let's take 1 min to think about our position and value in the market. "Generalist or specialist"

I feel like this couldn't have come at a better time. I've been a graphic designer for over a decade and got laid off due to the pandemic. Have been trying to find my niche and now pitching to large clients but realising I need to bring more to the table rather than just my design skills and industry experience. Most clients such as project managers with a decent budget to work with prefer a one-stop-shop. If you're offering branding, web development, and ongoing marketing support you need to start bringing on extra hands fast.

@@thefutur The Futur has been my personal bible for the past year or so, so the current situation has been a perfect excuse to put what I've picked up along the way to use rather than coasting along as an in-house designer for another decade.
Three of my favourite lessons from this channel:
      - Find your niche / identify where you can position yourself as a top contender in the market
      .
      - Know your value. A handful of high-value clients who respect your work are worth more than a thousand clients who will challenge you over every dollar and minute.
      - Be a problem solver / look deeper than "this client wants a logo which looks like X Y or Z". Set them up with direction and strategy to improve their chances of success and add value to your product.
My thanks to The Futur team - keep up the great content!

I don't have any comment on the content, because as always the team of Futur, Chris Do and the Guests coming are always giving deep insights, for FREE. I have loved the work of the team, and have been loving what they do. I just don't understand the 5 person who disliked this video!! What? Why did you DISLIKE it? You didn't pay for such a professional presentation, you could've clicked it off if you think you didn't like it(if you think), and if you genuinely found it to be not something you expected(which happens) then simply walkaway or give some constructive feedback. Disliking such a content, is just disrespectful.
On other notes, I would like to request this to the team of Futur. As you must have been aware that your channel is being viewed by a huge audience from India, would love some Creative Entrepreneurs who belong from here, and can share their work, experience which a lot of times is drastically different from other countries. Just something, which a lot of people would like to watch and will learn a lot from.
Great work nonetheless, as always :)
