Just bought the book!! I'm 23 and create websites and shoot music and promotional videos in order to fund a business in starting. Ive used this channel in order to take the necessary steps to run a successful business
The way they expand on the Guide concept really explains why the way Chris talks and negotiates is so magnetic, he never disagree at all! Not only that, because of empathy, the client quickly realises he's there for him and always will, even if there is a refusal to the call, and that, is the most powerful thing i've heard on The Futur. This concept seems silly if you don't go deep enough, and powerful concepts are usually simple, they are just hard to practice, and i just realised i need to position more as a guide for my clients and less as a hero. Thanks for the insights guys, this is the best channel on creativity on RUclips!
Thank you for having Marcus in here. He’s intelligent, self aware, & shares his past with humility. We need more people like him on here sharing their experiences with us.
Riad's question and Marcus' response brought to mind the quote by Marcus Garvey decades ago. "Chance favors a prepared mind." It also speaks to the fact that your present moment are the sum total of everything in your past which means that you can orchestrate your future state by what you do and let the universe conspire accordingly.
@@thefutur Very much so. I just ordered the book through the link. I hope it's an affiliate. Fantastic video! Marcus Speaks with such confidence & clarity, you have no option but to listen, digest and believe in the insight he shares. Thanks to The Futur team for the superb video!
Thank you Marcus! As a startup company, building these 8 core concepts/contexts have no shortcuts. But the amount of data and technology available for us to grow and become profitable is possible in this present age. Thanks The Futur for this power-packed session. Well done, again.
This interview hit on so many important topics to my life and career as it sits right now, it's like it was meant for me to hear. The journey, kids, becoming more mentally aware... I had it on just to kill time while working on a craft, and I ended up being so inspired that I couldn't fall asleep! Thank you for having Marcus on your show.
Great interview with Marcus. Around the 51 minute mark, he hits home with straight talk about self-awareness and sparing the pity party. Take charge of your life and do not let anyone or yourself stop you from taking the Hero’s journey. 🔥🔥🔥
This is awesome, very insightful. And I hope people take note of what happened to Marcus from 2000-2007. He had a really good job, stock options, then sold the stock back to start his first business. It's not just knowing these concepts that important, but leveraging what you have. Not everyone is going to have assets to sell to start their own business, but find a job or a second job and build that net.
This is absolutely amazing, thank you!! Exactly what I've been looking for, he illuminated the areas I need to work on, that I didn't know were separate!

The only correction I have to give is that React is a library, not a Framework. Libraries follow the same principle that was highlighted in the presentation though and doesn't take away at all from the message. 1000% going to share this with my other friends who are starting a business.
@@CreativePowerMedia& Chris - I'm in good company : ) - always inspirational. My favorite part was when Marcus opened up about making mistakes. Great stuff, and really helpful especially for the young guns out there who are just graduating, or finding their place in the design world. Both of you guys a true inspiration! But.. ok, so I have now 20 years of experience in many if not all corners of the media landscape. I consider myself a creative swiss knife, but never came to starting my own studio, always worked for studios, always underpaid, always afraid of missing out and say no. Needless to say i'm a bad-ass designer, but a lousy entrepreneur... And over the years the guys running the studios are getting younger and younger (correction: i’m getting older and older), until the point i’m being told by "kids" 15 years younger than me… I’m not in the position to question the hand that feeds me, so to speak, but over the years I increasingly realise I have a deeper knowledge of the process than most of those young guns, my problemsolving skills are more solid and conceptualization and translating the client’s wishes is where I could (should) shine, purely because of my broader experience. At the same time the young guns have the fluidity in using the tools (I learned rendering stuff in 320x240 and saving frames on a pile of floppydisks, starting up 3ds2 in ms-dos…. yeah, pretty oldschool), even when teaching at art academy and design schools, I learned a lot from the bright kids in class who are frigging sponges. Damn did I miss the boat? How do I reposition/reinvent myself? That said, could you do some content that deals with the the old school boyz and girlz with these obvious blind spots (i’m sure i’m not the only one ;))? cheers!
That was fire. I wish he could expand a bit more on “Marketing” being the most comprehensive and what marketers can do about this. This makes sense to me but I feel like I need to know more... not every company realised how comprehensive marketing needs to be.
Well done! The benefit is not only in being ready, it's in being able to see the opportunities out of all the noise that surrounds us daily. Focusing on something filters out the coherent things to spend time and energy on and that coherence builds our mindset, the dominant goal that is running in our minds over and over. That helps us see opportunities and that is steering us to be in the area where those opportunities exist.
