I really enjoyed this conversation :) I was fortunate enough to work with great fashion designers and artists over the years, and I had the opportunity to peer inside their minds. Short story: I was having a morning coffee with a fashion designer, Pat McDonagh, on the patio in front of her studio (Toronto, 2013). We were sitting in silence, and she was observing pigeons. At one moment, she asked me (I don't remember the exact words): "Do you see how the feathers change colours when the sun hits them? I can order a sequin fabric with similar colours for the next collection. Add some feathers to the shoes." At that moment, I was like, OMG!! I just witnessed the birth of her new collection! We get to see this on a runway - all coming from that moment of silence and observation.

I think this conversation hit the nail on the head. For me it boiled down to utilizing empathy to push your personal boundaries of communication as far as possible. The more you learn/observe, the better you can understand others, meaning the better the communication or connection.

Thank you for sharing all those stories.
I liked the talks about fashion,
I have a particular fashion style, mixing streetwear, techwear and gorpcore, when I started wearing those clothes a couple years ago, I could see people in the streets looking at me funny, some people would also compliment me on my style, so I never really cared about the “funny looks”.
Throughout the years my style evolved, but I always felt good with what I used to wear.
The thing is, I don’t see no one looking at me funny no more.
I wonder if its because I own up my style better and truly am myself with the clothes I wear, or if I simply don’t give a F about the weird looks so much that I don’t see them at all anymore.
I also feel like building your fashionstyle is the same as building you artstyle,
You can’t copy someone else’s style and feel like yourself, you can start by doing so as a base to create your own, but I feel like Chris’ style is so in sinc with his personality that thats why his friend couldn’t “pull it off”.
I can pull of weird ass looking boots and clothes with hundreds of pockets and zippers, but no way I can pullof big ass glasses and a snapback

That's the level of attention to detail that got me switched from Android to iOS after noticing things like the fake blur vs the real-time blur happen behind notification/control center overlays. Very minor details, but after you notice, you can't unsee. And as a designer, I coudln't resist.

Spot on with the natural stone. An easy way to know what is printed and what is real is the pattern. Every tile should be unique if natural stone.
If every tile is the same it's man made (ceramic or porcelain)
Another way to tell is by pouring water on the surface. Natural stone is porous and will absorb the water. Ceramic and porcelain will not absorb the water

The ability to observe without evaluating, without judgment, is the highest form of human intelligence” sounds like the “Emperor’s new clothes.” Our fear of being judged as unintelligent might keep us from evaluating the statement. When observed what does intelligence look like, and without evaluating how might one determine one form as being higher than the other. I like the irony. Thanks again.. cheers

To observe without judgment. It’s difficult to do. That does not mean to not evaluate. It’s to resist the temptation of seeing what you want to see vs what’s really there.

Judging means applying our value system onto another person.
Do we have all the informations necessary for judging them: what they were going threw, and even if, do we know how their life feels to them in their skin, what natural energy level they have, did they choose their IQ, the culture and their parents who formed or may be even abused them ... ?
