You’re one of the only people I’ve seen who can take these big concepts and distill them into information that people can relate with and act on.
I’m tired of the blind “follow your passion” one liners. This is the nuance that a lot of young people need.

I always loved to evoke emotion from people with visuals and storytelling. In comes UX/UI design, comics/animation, videos, video games, drawing, etc. however, some felt better to me (notice how I said ‘felt’, and instinctive feeling). I’ve now narrowed down to UX/UI design and comic strips/short animations as my main artistic outlets. I also love technology (got a Computer Engineering degree, but it’s not my strength) and business/marketing which is my latest endeavor, website design/development as a freelancer where I am learning/doing UX/UI design. I’m thinking of going back to working for a company as a UX/UI designer so I can focus on just making and marketing my animations but still do what I love as a day “job” :)

We need this message out in front of more Millennials and Gen Zs. So many people believe that there's just those few ways to achieve 'success', without ever really giving thought to what *they* themselves define as 'success'. Success defined by others is never true success in personal terms.

it's passion that pushes you to go far... Same, I didnt take graphics designer as a career bec my parents didn't want to see me broke in the future so i took another route, got my license but.. how far can we really fake it? At the end of the day, I'd stay up late painting, trying to catch up what I've missed for the day bec having a corporate job sucks the life out if ya and only when u start unleashing ur creative side can only make u feel alive.

@@gfxlab I know exactly what it is. What I mean is starting the foundation building it. I'm a very successful corporate finance consultant but I always was very interested in psychology and spirituality. I want to provide valuable encouragement and help people to learn themselves and grow from inside. It's been my calling since I was young but to think of letting my career go to pursue it is scary. I've been conflicted for years on this. All the spare time I have I read and research self development topics helping close family members and friends. Passion is a compass. A compass that can help you find your purpose in life. For me, it's been dance. I never would've been who I am today without it and it continues to guide me when I'm lost. If you don't know what you're passionate about, it's okay. Just be curious. Try new things, meet new people, and eventually it'll come. Once you've found it, keep hold of it and do not suppress it :) Thank you The Futur for sharing such an important message!

As you we're talking I've remembered some stories that my parents used to tell me. Stories that the creative spirit was in me since before I could walk.
When I was a little child I used to draw all the walls behind my bed with crayons. I was drawing all sorts of stuff on the walls where I could reach, so the creative spirit was there all the time. Another story was when I was a toddler and painting the walls with milk from the bottle until I was bored and felt asleep. After I grew older and got my first PC with internet, I've stumbled upon graffiti art and started doing that all day long. Trying to do my own letters, my own custom fonts, my own characters. So yes, this video was an eye-opener and a kick in the b*tt to realize that this is what I was doing since I can barely remember and what I will do from now on.
    Thank you, Chris!

Listening to how you described what you did as a kid and were drawn to is exactly how I was like...always creating art, obsessed with skater branding, my grandparents buying me an airbrush compressor, wanting to be a video game designer, etc. My highest grades were always in the arts, I would spend my down time creating, and still do in my spare time. Now is a perfect time to reflect on this and to chose not runway from what energizes me any longer.

I've been thankful to stumble upon your videos recently. Since seeing a few I've been really going over things that make and/or have made me really happy while thinking about what I can do with them. I've always had ideas about what I might like to do with my life, even passionate moments of realization, but none of them have come to fruition. It usually goes that I get VERY passionate about an idea, make a social post about said passion, and then it never amounts to anything. After a about a week of self-reflection, I realize why I'm the way I am and why I hold myself back from chasing those realizations, choosing to play it safe instead. The issue is that at 35, I'm having a hard time maintaining "safety." It's killing me emotionally to do the daily grind and simply "maintain" without growth. Something I've been trying to do is to come back to self-reflection to help get over myself so-to-speak. The idea here is that the more I meditate on passions, the more the wish to achieve passionate goals will be at the front of my thoughts. I'll also have to practice on those things I want to achieve, as they don't just manifest as master abilities. I've only dabbled in many of the things that I enjoy skill-wise. It's just hard to want so much, and know time is finite plus know where to begin (order of practice, what to practice or go after first, etc.)

I would love to hear The Futur Teams thoughts on the Pixar Film: Soul. The pursuit of passion is a great sentiment to live our lives by. But I also believe that spending every waking moment in pursuit of that can lead to an unhealthy obsession that disconnects us from life's purities. It's the artists journey. I don't think that our passion is our true purpose. To deduce life to a single meaning is restrictive. Our purpose can change through life's experiences and what we think we are destined for may be what we least expect.
This is why I appreciate Chris's journey. To go from running a design firm to touching the lives of a billion people, these two goals are on very different sides of the spectrum. But he felt it deep inside that it was the right decision to make at that point in his life. There is no roadmap to living a fulfilling life. It's all about feeling the energy of the world around you and the energy within yourself. A dedication to expressing your deep personal ideals can fashion a spiritual connection and beneficial involvement in the world around you.

now what shall i do in life, cause i am very confuse, i lack the skill of the social media marketing(drawing, creativity, photography, even i find hard to decide on typography), and lack the passion on things i know. i am 16 and is crucial for me to know my way

Only thing that I do when nobody is watching is to sing and write. But I am not very good at these things and also nobody appreciate making careers into it. My parents want me to just study and then take a decent job which I can't imagine my life to be. And I also love to solve problems of the masses. So... many option and I am confused now.

I still don’t know what I want to do because I don’t know if there is a job with what I love to do. I love watching television and film and recommending them. Interested about everything that goes on behind the scenes and never went to film school nor do I live in a place where I can readily get film experience. But I still don’t know exactly what I want to do.

It feels like almost every one of my hobbies/passions are already over-saturated with products and services. Contributing more of the same, isn't inspiring to me. I'm struggling to find my edge.

There is nothing wrong with being a nurse. What Chris is talking about is setting a goal and settling for something you didn't want. If you want to be a nurse, you might not be happy as a clinical receptionist. Jobs are not meant to be for everybody.

nothing wrong with being nurse. now more than ever. it was that he had a different passion (to cook) and pursued medicine because that's what his parents wanted him to do.

I don't think it's sad. Money isn't good or bad it just is. Maybe you're here to learn how to be financially abundant in this life and change your perspective regarding money so that you can share that knowledge with other people. When we think money is bad we block ourselves from receiving more. It's time we drop those limiting beliefs and create an abundance mindset. Someone I follow on Instagram literally created a course about money called Abundance Binge (@cafebinge on Instagram).

The second point of view stated at book so good so they can't ignore you by calnewport ... He stated that passion sucks and we are passionate about things we are good at .he gives examples of people who joined some kind of schools or crafts that they didnt like at the start and when they master there craft they started to love it and get pastionate about it. For me I believe mix of passion thoughts and craft thought .
We are not born with passion or quite your jobs if you are not passionate about it that is extreme thinking for me also I believe when you reach level of success you start to discover things that you follow on like Chris doing teaching business rather then doing design work but this comes after achieving success only . Conclusion passion didn't come at the start it comes after success and lots of try and error and then a good craft and success and then you discover your one.
