I am new to archery and have been watching your content daily for tips and tricks this by far is one of the most original, informative and beneficial videos I have seen FUCKING PERIOD! Thanks man great work!!
You are the man MFJJ, I love these videos. Wish I could’ve got into bows so much sooner. Better late than never though. Thanks for teaching me along my way. Learning so much from you and Tim and Dan Thanks again. Can’t wait to get really good to get my Mathew’s from you in person hopefully. Learning with the adapt plus, getting there little by little.
I learned from Len Cardinale ...he was a good friend and had me shooting at a target 5 feet from me... it seemed like forever, before I could run the target out and actually aim at a target, being new to archery back then I just wanted to shoot down the lane. He made sure I had the mechanics down first. This is great advice.
One of the best videos ever. Started doing it with my eyes closed and instantly felt how different my shot execution felt. More consistent on the anchor point and nose touching the string and the release was great, also let me concentrate on my breathing. Did notice I have to open my stance to about 30 degrees to the target to have the shot be around the center. Has me wonder if that's normal or if there is something wrong with my setup.
Just found your channel a few weeks ago and while I don't shoot a Mathews bow the tips and tricks will work just the same. Picked up my old Kinetic machine again after about 20 years off of it, that being said I dove down the rabbit hole Again and with the insight that your providing for us my shooting has improved drastically over the past month. This video will definitely help I already know. Consciously working on my grip, anchor and breathing now and Not punching the release, hope to be able to put it together this October. Thanks for all the videos
MFJJ is like an archery mad scientist... the ideas and knowledge are always flowing!.. really enjoy his tips. Much respect for his contributions to the channel. Wish I could walk into his shop and super tune my bow with him!.. that Reckoning he is shooting looks awesome!

This has been super helpful. I'm returning to archery and setting up my bow with new accessories. MFJJ has provided so much food for thought. Love it!!
Great video even came back to watch it a 2nd time. Like he says when you don't care where it hits but focus on the process. Went out had arrows hitting the 10 where I'm like how but didn't care focused on proper shooting and they were hitting where I wanted most of time.
Thinking about buying a hinge. Presently shooting a index and a GOAT releases. Would love to see you have a complete video on properly shooting a hinge. Watched the elk shape video and you mentioned to push and pull to activate. I watched your video on the Tru Ball sweet spot pro flex and I thought you rotated your hand for activation. Could you please reinforce which way is correct, thank you MFJJ.
There are many ways to make a clean release. You use push pull, Jesse Broadwater uses a relax hand release and has won pretty much everything. And then there’s command release where many successful pro archers basically hit a trigger on command to fire the release via thumb or index triggers.
Just bought the v3x 29 from shooting the bowtech carbon Zion the Mathews is a totally different animal and I find it difficult to shoot . I'm sure I'll get used to it eventually
Ok as a target/field shooter I gotta say a couple things but what I will say is that from a textbook point of view you have said good things. This kind of baling can possibly induce target panic into some people because you take away the one thing we all do ... We are always aiming at a target of some kind and so it's probably also very important to keep a close distance with an indoor 3 spot or heck even an animal target face because that likely applies to this audience a bit more. By this method, you prove to your brain you can break a nice shot whilst aiming in and around the middle. Anyone can make good shots when they have "nothing to hit" but that isn't to say the blank method isn't good, I watched a close friend of mine turn archery around after a couple months of it. You can also anticipate a shot and still have a rear and forward direction,
Thanks for the tips ! I wish I could practice daily, but living in the apartment and with Canadian laws considering bow a “ firearm “ I can’t discharge it in the city limits, unless I’m at the range which we only have one in the biggest city in Canada /: one day I’ll move outwest tho. Keep up the good content guys !
I live in apartments in spokane, wa and I shoot inside lol. Granted the longest sight line I got is maybe 10 yds but its nice for micro tuning or just flingin a few before bed :D so far nobody's said anything bout the multiple THWAPs coming from our apt. Lol
I’ve watched so much archery information this offseason I could have a bachelors degree lol. The more I learn the more I realize I don’t know anything.
The only constructive criticism I can give with this video is to have the target elevated so your bow arm is basically 'level' during the shot sequence instead of having to lower it to ensure the arrow hits the target. This will help with strengthening the shoulder/arm muscles as well as enhance the ability of 'locking' the shoulder ball into the socket to achieve more bone-on-bone support in the bow arm. Great video MFJJ.
When your right hand travel after release as is it shown in video that's means your release is not correct. You hold on your hand about 10lbs maybe a little bit more but movement of your hand shows that you apply a lot of power on this hand.
I have question , what is the best place to set my nocking point on a mathews bow dead level and through centre shafts in centre of burger button? I'm getting nock low and can't get it out , great vids buddy
I have been wanting to start shooting archery correctly with a back tension release, my bow hand elbow has joint damage and loss of range of motion so I can’t straighten my bow arm all the way. Is it possible to shoot with correct technique and follow through if my elbow won’t straighten?
You guys are awesome and you guys suck. You just showed me that I am doing a lot wrong in my shot process lol. Thanks again for everything you guys work on to help people like me that now know that I suck at archery 🤣🤣🤣😬😬😬
Ok! MFJJ, I understand you want a complete disconnect from aiming, but what happens when suddenly the sight has been reintroduced to the process? What is going to stop me from regressing back into anticipating the shot and then once again TP?
@@spencersecord3073 that’s cool bro, I did a dealer search on Victory’s website and I couldn’t find anything in Ontario, I live close to London Ontario and every Pro shop around here don’t sell Victory, most carry Easton, Black Eagle, and Gold tip which are very good brands respectively, but I wanted to try some Victory S.S, so thanks for the info, I’ll definitely get in touch with them 😎💯
Yeah I have sum pretty good target panic. I do better with no paper target in my sight. When it's a 3d or a live animal it seems I am able to hold and execute my shot a little better. I have to deff try this. Even tho I have a index release.
I get what blank baling is trying to do but reality of the situation is you're going to have to use your peep and sight when shooting an animal or in competing so why not practice everything at once? Practice good shot execution and aiming at the same time. Practice like you play.
how did shooting a bow get so complicated???? Somehow now days you have to be wealthy have some kind of collage degree in rocket science just to understand how to get the arrow near the bow. no wait maybe it's for you to get near the bow? just close you eyes I'm sure you will run into it sooner or later
So I get the point of this exercise but there are some serious safety concerns here that should have been addressed ie that you have a designated area and that you know that nobody's going to enter that designated area when you're closing your eyes before you releasing an arrow
Slate is wiped clean for Monday what would you all like to see?? Still have a SD Muley hunt in the hopper, and a WA whitetail hunt. Those'll be coming
High vs low let off and how it effects speed
Whitetail hunt from u guys sounds good! Post it up! Thanks in advance
Be Well
Tim, I would like to see a break down of that Scott Sigma.
Really looking forward to the SD muley hunt and the WA whitetail. Thanks for the awesome tips and homework.

Glad you guys made this video, it’s amazing the little important steps that get passed over during season.
Absolutely!

Awesome video, more archery tips wanted!
More to come!
Been waiting on a bow sight to get Mybow setup, now I’m just gunna fit a d-loop and practice this so thanks 👍
Always love the videos with Josh learn so much from him very grateful
He's starting a channel too!
@@ElkShape what will his channel be?.. when is he starting it?
@@ElkShape
That's awesome , greatly appreciated. Love the elk shape apparel going to get myself a hat
No one should be using a back tension release for hunting period.
Alot of truth to what he says, When I learned how to shoot a hinge I spent 2 weeks of blank bailing and setting up the release to get it perfect.

Off season what's that in Oklahoma theirs something to hunt and shoot all year long.
by rotating your release almost perpendicular to the dloop dont u exert torque on it ?
whats your thoughts on a hinge release ?
Couple vids on the channel talking about it.. Positive for sure!

Is the intro song on RUclips? Or Apple Music? What’s it called? The when there’s a will there’s a way?

Looks like a lot of face pressure on that string. I can’t be consistent like that. If it works for you and feels natural, do it 🤷🏻♂️
