Moving that peep is genius. Good grief that saved me a ton of work. Josh you are a God send. I have learned more from you than anyone else online PERIOD.
OK. I have been shooting the same bow for 10 years (with large pauses and one new string). Recently I have been having issues with my anchor point. Watched several video from various people. Dude you knocked it out of the park! Problem solved! Thank you! If I make it back to Spokane, first beverage of your choice is on me. Seriously.
That’s a great tip to cheat your peep up and down. Something I learned working in a shop, is when I would get the peep set it always seemed to be twisted one way or the other. Depending on how a peep is tied in, lots of time you can get your peep to twist back to center with the direction of your wraps. Great channel and keep the tips rollin!!
I'm just returning to the compound bow after about a 10 year sabbatical due to injury. After I rehabbed from the injury I got into crossbow hunting, however, needed a new lighter challenge. Recently purchased a new Hoyt Alpha X 30 at my local bow shop. Plenty of time to learn new technique and practice before our late summer bow season for white tail. Made the purchase based on your reviews as well as others. Shot the RX-8 but decided on the Aluminum Alpha. Hard to justify the difference in price point with the small difference in weight.
Always good learning here , no muss no fuss just sharing un-scripted knowledge, experience to the point info . would be great if your shop was where I am ...
The back of the jaw, on that pressure point CAN be an anchor point, but depending on release and how you hold it, there are many other contact points you can use. Personally, as long as the string is on the tip of my nose, and corner of the mouth, and i’m looking through the peep, that’s all you need. And that will work with every release, no matter how you hold it.
Good video. I have developed a serious case of target panic and I've finally decided to change my whole setup to address issues. I have struggled for years with draw length and anchor points. There does seem to be some differing opinion on anchor points with the hand. The index knuckle to the ear lobe and the gap between the two knuckles on the jaw line.
Thank you for sharing so much of your knowledge I have been bowteching for 9 months and I learn so much everyday from your videos. Any questions I have just watch your videos!
This was perfect! I was looking for a way to move my peep slightly to get rid of the off center rotation without twisting my string. The d-loop cord trick to move the tied serving was perfect and totally fixed my issue. You the man MFJJ!!!!
Your my idle.. built my own bow shop in my house. I've been following yourself and Dan for quite sometime. Archery for life! Thanks for everything you guys do for the art 🎨 of 🏹 Dreaming of someday visiting your shop. Cheers and Thanks for the knowledge. Archer Ash
Just awesome content. Shopping from your online store is easy and convenient, but am looking forward to checking the store out in person and do a little shooting at your range.
I just installed spot Hogg warped 5 pin sight ( got it on eBay for $155 )I had windage problems. I would set up spacer to cheat sight left middle or right. I would not have micro adjustments to get it to shoot striaght. I see the strings through peep when I shoot. It’s shoots straight. Was wondering if I should move drop rest to get strings out of my peep sight. I am 3 months. in on archery I get a kick out of messing with bow. I do have elite basin bow. Only because I could only draw 40 lbs. I have bow maxed out around 65-66lbs. I want to get vx3 soon. Only good thing about basin I could set it up for one of my daughters when I upgrade. Lol. Thanks for you content and insight.
Love the content MFJJ can’t wait for the bow builds, testing, and decision! One anchor point I think you left out but you have mentioned on elk shape is the string touching the corner of your mouth! I have a really short nose so I can’t get my nose on the string without my head being in a really awkward position. So the mouth is my 2nd and most important anchor cause it gets my eye lined up over the string and the arrow!!
Where is the optimal placement for the rubber dampener on the hamskea cord? High, low , middle length from the riser? Also any thoughts of running your cord to the yolk split on a Mathews? I know Dudley dose this on his PSE and RUclips channel “inside out precision” does this as well. Thought?
Awesome video. Can you do a video on peep placement by yourself? I mean, if I'm installing a peep by myself, is there a way to know where the peep goes without someone next to me eyeballing where my eye is?
I bought the option 8s sight(the big oval one) and my fletchings are hitting the housing. I "fixed" this by moving my peep up and now I can't touch my nose to the string. Any suggestions on a better fix?
Hey MMJJ. I’m new into compound bows and I like all the info you given me. I have a question that I hope you can unbiased answer. I shoot a hori-zone 65. It good enough for now and I shoot it well. I want your honest opinion. What is the best bow out there? All rounder hunting and target
A kisser is a great additional contact point, but you may do just as well touching the string to the corner of your mouth, or just tying a couple knots of serving material where you would put the kisser button.
Do NOT use a hard anchor (knuckle on jaw) Instead try tip of the nose and corner of the mouth with the string. Hit those 2 spots the same every time, and the release won’t change where your peep is.
I’m hoping you can help me. I purchased a new Obsession Nitro HZ and I can’t get my string touch my nose. The shop where I purchased it said it’s because of the bows short axel to axel length. Is this true or am I not anchored right. I use a wrist strap.
I have had issues wearing glasses. Nose button on center of nose. But when aiming through peep my line of vision is in-between my lenses. How to correct this? I found if I put the button more to side of my nose I can line up through my lense. What's the correct way if any? Thanks
If that works for you, and you can repeat it every time, you will be fine. Probably not a bad idea to add a 2nd string contact point, the corner of the mouth.
Could you do a video talking about what guys can do to fix their sight bottoming out? I am 6.1 have a 31 inch draw length and have a Montana black gold single pin sight, I can only go out to about 67 yards before fletching would hit. Could anyone help me out?
What if you hit the first anchor point behind the ear with ease. It feels like the correct draw length. But inorder for the tip of the nose to touch the string you're head has to tilt uncomfortably downward. Solution?
I have the same issue, for me I think I might be shooting 1/2” to short draw length. I tend to let my front shoulder scrunch back but when I push my front shoulder forward like I’m supposed to then I end up having to tilt my face forward uncomfortably to touch the string with my nose. Just a thought as that seems to be my issue, but it may be something different for you.
I have a really short nose and it won’t touch the string unless my head is awkwardly downward. So my 2nd anchor point is having the top string touch the corner of my mouth. By slightly touching the string its a point of contact every time i anchor and it lines my eye up over the string and the arrow p.s. MFJJ has mentioned that on an elk shape video before

I’m beginning to wonder how I made 30 years shooting a bow without you!!! Absolutely love all your content and info thank you for sharing!!

Great tips on anchor points! I’m 100% new to archery and this video helped me understand what my anchor points are/should be! Thank you!
You just might be the greatest bow tech alive....thanks for the amazing technical education yet again.
good tip for making slight adjustments on the peep

My son was having trouble with his peep thanks for the tip made it a easy fix

Came here from Elk Run Archery. Great info
Josh how the heck are you. You were my bow man for years when I lived in Spokane. The beard is bad ass. Hope you’re doing well
The Mathews with the roller guard in the center are equally influenced by twists or untwists in either limb.
Hey love the content! Hopefully I get a chance in the future to come up there to visit the shop!
First time seeing the new hats ! They look good bro . It reminds me of someone….. I just can’t put my finger on it???????
What a nice simple method to move the peep up and down. Very good info mate. Been watching for a bit and am now subscribed. Cheers
That's exactly what I needed to see today ! thank you
Good stuff. I needed this info right after I got my v3x. Finally figured it out though.

Just ordered a bow press from podium archer. Love your videos from the wizard mfjj!
Great info. Which way do you turn the string
Awesome stuff Josh dig all ur content!
i was told if u twist the bottom u got to twist the top so the timing isn't off
Love the content MFJJ can’t wait for the bow builds, testing, and decision! One anchor point I think you left out but you have mentioned on elk shape is the string touching the corner of your mouth! Mine too!!
I am also very different, big head and short fingers 🤣
And also very short hands.
Great work , please keep it up !

Outstanding. Ty, JJ
Thanks you I have learned a lot from you 👍
great video! Keep em coming!
When we going to get a video on the podium archery stabilizer
Can they get a little tigher shots great information
Mr Jones! When can we be expecting the orangutan arm bows video.
Thank you for the peep trick!
I bought the option 8s sight(the big oval one) and my fletchings are hitting the housing. I "fixed" this by moving my peep up and now I can't touch my nose to the string. Any suggestions on a better fix?
Love these tips, thanks.
Another great video 🇺🇸

How do you stop your max left helical, max stealth vanes from hitting the hamske epsilon launcher blade?
MFJJ You the man, Sooooo When can I get one of those MFJJ Hats ?????????
Good job
If I am shooting a little low, should the peep go up or down? Trying not to lower the sight housing any more than what it is now.
Great stuff
Do you recommend the Bowmar nose button
Thanks
They can help if you shoot a short axle to axle bow.
Your awesome, thanks for the info.
All good knowledge
Are you saying knuckle touch the corner of your jawbone or behind the jaw bone
Please make more string building videos 🙏
Hopefully someone can answer this…
As a new archer, do you recommend having a nose button and a kisser on your bow???
A kisser is a great additional contact point, but you may do just as well touching the string to the corner of your mouth, or just tying a couple knots of serving material where you would put the kisser button.
The basics. 👍👍👏👏
Oh snap… peep trick! When you don’t live near a shop and need a small adjustment
What bow Is that
Is that a granite color TRX?
Now I know an easy way to move my peep 🤯 👍🏻 Thank you
Thanks!
When I switch from thumb button to wrist strap, my peep alignment seems to be off when I try to use same anchor. Any tips?
Do NOT use a hard anchor (knuckle on jaw)
Instead try tip of the nose and corner of the mouth with the string.
Hit those 2 spots the same every time, and the release won’t change where your peep is.
I notice you twist the string on bottom and not the top. what is the reason for this?
I’m hoping you can help me. I purchased a new Obsession Nitro HZ and I can’t get my string touch my nose. The shop where I purchased it said it’s because of the bows short axel to axel length. Is this true or am I not anchored right. I use a wrist strap.
Short ATA bows make it hard to touch your nose.
You can add a button or a kisser (still touch it with your nose).
What is the best nose anchor if you have a flat nose ?
The string alone should be enough.
Your nose is very sensitive, you will know that it is in the right place.
3 bow builds please
Could you do a video talking about what guys can do to fix their sight bottoming out? I am 6.1 have a 31 inch draw length and have a Montana black gold single pin sight, I can only go out to about 67 yards before fletching would hit. Could anyone help me out?
See if you can raise your peep.
My girlfriend seems to constantly anchor to the side of her nose, everything else looks ok. Would this be a possible long draw length?
do you ship to Japan?
Thanks
What if I can't touch my nose to string without dipping my head to the string
Probably due to shooting a short ATA bow.
You can add a nose button, or in extreme cases, a kisser button that you use to touch your nose.
Really wanna get a bow press to do my own work, but it terrifies me that I’ll mess something up.
Get one , buy a cheap used bow to tinker with until you learn
Good lord almighty, I need a bow press.
So all I need is a nose job to become better archer.
ABT!
Same question here…
I have a really short nose and it won’t touch the string unless my head is awkwardly downward. So my 2nd anchor point is having the top string touch the corner of my mouth. By slightly touching the string its a point of contact every time i anchor and it lines my eye up over the string and the arrow
p.s. MFJJ has mentioned that on an elk shape video before
Your release is lost likely to long
Your release is most likely to long
genius
I swear you invented archery and have been traveling through time to make sure us dumbasses try to understand it 😂
My nose is not long enough that won’t work
Or your bow is too short for that to work.
Try adding a kisser button, even if you use it just to touch your nose.
Can’t see what your doing !!!!
...or....just don't use a peep
