    You are the first person I have ever heard talk about blind bailing, other than the guy who taught me back in the mid-80s. We hear about blank bailing but not shutting our eyes. It's the same way I teach. Blind bailing is an amazing way to take a struggling shooter with a good basic form to the next level. I really like how you did that session. It held me to the end.

    It is remarkable how shooting a bow can be such a scientific undertaking. It isn't "just rip it" - there are a lot of factors that one has to account for and control. In the Army, looking through your sights at the bullseye was called "bull gazing" and it was a no-go. In archery, focusing on your sights is a no-no - remarkable. Thanks for the great video

    You two should do another in depth video on the shot process with a hinge from start to finish. The different ways to fire a hinge, he he prefers, what you prefer and what works "best." I have personally found three that work but in my opinion it really comes down too perfect form and proper bow hand, bow arm, shoulders, release arm, release hand. I feel after I acquire the target, draw, anchor (click is immediately as I come off of the UV bracket thumb pad), if I concentrate on squaring up my shoulders perfectly in line to the target, the hinge breaks. I guess in a sense when i line up my shoulders, one directly behind the other, I am actually bringing my scapulas together with a consistent push and pull. It's kinda all the same thing when we finally figure out the process. It's pretty damn satisfying! Love JJ's tip on the guy shooting 5 feet from the target with the lights off.

    Tim...I am also fairly new to shooting a Hinge, resistance and proper shot execution in the past year or so. Can you ask Josh this question for me. If your focus is 100% at what you are aiming at, at what point (if ever) do you think or allow your brain to switch attention to the release hand and the process? Are we supposed to "think" about the rotation of the release, "yielding", releaxing the release hand to allow the hinge to fire. Is it something we should or shouldn't be thinking about. I feel you somewhat have to think about it because it the final part of the process. I hope this makes sense.

    I have a question. So when we first draw our bow is it better to immediately eliminate the pins and just stare directly at the target? Or would it be okay to briefly use the pins after drawing and then looking through to the target?

  • @nicholaswarwick9580
    @nicholaswarwick9580 3 года назад +1

    Hey Tim maybe look into the way the bow is balanced, as far as back bar position and weight. The perfect set up I have found when set up right, basically takes the bubble out of equation. So that when you draw back the bow is already level, so if you can figure out that sweet spot for your set up, it would give you one less thing for the brain to think about. As always love the content and hope you have a great Thanksgiving

      @ILikeCatsMoreThanILikeYou 3 года назад +1

      I was about to comment the same thing. He is way off level everytime he draws back and then has to fight the bow back to level. Eliminating that will definitely help the overall shot

    When pulling back , do you rise to your target or drop to your target ? And what is correct ?

  • @HuntsT
    @HuntsT 3 года назад +8

    I would be interested to meet someone who can out shoot me with a "Hinge Release". Not only at a target but also on an animal. I shoot a trigger wrist strap release. I just don't like this narrative that shooting a hinge is the correct way and not shooting a hinge is the incorrect way. Hinges definitely have a place in competition. But hunting situations are way to variable to replicate the "perfect break" every time. Just my opinion I'm sure others have theirs.
    To add to that, if you fixed the me mental things that MFJJ spoke about then you will get better no matter what release you lose.

    • @Orr_s
      @Orr_s 3 года назад

      A hinge or back tension just instills proper shot technique and eliminates target panic if done correctly. I had target panic and didnt even realize it until i switched from a wrist strap over to a back tension. Nothing really correct or incorrect but its all about repeating that process over and over. Theres great target shooters who trigger punch and have target panic but they just are able to do it consistently well

    • @MegaBastt
      @MegaBastt 3 года назад

      In one other their other videos MFJJ says he uses a hinge except for hunting. I think that's maybe a common sentiment because sometimes you must command that shot, and I think trying to do that with a hinge is way harder than something with a trigger.

    • @Orr_s
      @Orr_s 3 года назад

      @@MegaBastt thats exactly why i practice with a back tension and hunt with a thumb barrel style handheld. I have a thumb button, back tension, and hinge.

    👍 so many people NEED to watch good videos like this one. Good equipment is great but getting into the proper process is " the bottom line". One thing I've learned is one needs to be in the best " archery" shape possible for them. If you're straining and fighting it don't worry. Lower the draw weight and go shoot with each shot thebest you can. Never fire a shot you aren't comfortable with. Let down and start over the entire shot sequence. Eventually you will become so used to proper technique it will be an unconscious action. Form is everything, equipment is secondary IMO.

    Brand new to the sport as of yesterday. At the pro shop through the process of testing bows, then tuning the one I bought, I noticed I was fairly fatigued due to shooting so much. This video got me thinking, would it be more beneficial to shoot and train my body on the shot process/strengthen my muscle groups without a target and not even having grouped and zeroed? I found I wasn’t very stable once trying to zero that same day so I stopped before I got sloppy in the shot process. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Also this channel is a big reason I decided to get into archery so thank you for the great content!

  • @Stickandstringoutdoors
    @Stickandstringoutdoors 3 года назад

    Lots of good tips in this video.
    I would lower your bow poundage by 10-15 lbs
    Your 3rd shot in your already shaking.
    I’m not saying your not cable of drawing 70lbs but if you want to focus on correct form and execution you need to be completely relaxed.
    Get lots of reps in and slowing build up the weight once the form and shot execution is correct and second nature.
    Happy thanksgiving

    Tim it looks like you have that rear bar kicked too far out. Every time you draw you're canted left and have to readjust right. Could be one more thing you don't have to think about if you tinker it into a position where you draw the bow level to start with.

    One thing I saw is that your top cam was way to the left then you brought it to center.
    Could be a grip issue or a balance issue. Id start playing with your stabilizer set up

  • @bradwile4822
    @bradwile4822 3 года назад

    I'm pretty sure you're stabilizer setup isn't correct. Every time you draw your bow the top of your bow is leaning left. You then torque your bow to the right to level your bubble. Try moving your side bar stabilizer in towards the bow, or remove some weight from it. Then the bow will draw level.

  • @zb5715
    @zb5715 Год назад

    MFJJ, at what yardage does leveling the bubble become necessary. I only hunt whitetails on the east coast and never shot at a deer over 30 yds. After starting to “burn a hole” in the target instead of minding my pin I’ve shot better not even paying attention to the bubble.

    • @HuntsT
      @HuntsT 3 года назад

      Too short = no such thing. You can fix a majority of shooting flaws without every firing an arrow off.
      It really depends on your ability to replicate what you worked on last time and set it to muscle memory. If you are new to archery then obviously more is better. If you have been shooting a very long time and you have good form and techniques then it isn't as critical to shoot all the time. But remember, practice builds confidence. If you don't have enough confidence you won't be able to execute when the pressure is on.
