This Lighter Starts Fires with Electricity Alone!: The DIY Arc Lighter

No Name This device could not be used as an arc welding device, it does not supply enough amperage. Cool idea though!

why do you rectify it first and then create an oscillator? can't you use mains AC osscillation?

Can i use any transistor? PNP or NPN?
