22:45 Always great to see your process detailed so clearly. A lot of what you described is similar to how I've been trying to operate as a creator who is also full time in another career doing content part time (albeit you're operating at a larger scale) One area I'd love more detail in: how you process your payment for different team members working on content for your channel. You mention revenue share, how do you process/determine this value? For example, if you have 1 editor operating on a channel with revenue share, you give them x percent of the channels revenue per month. If multiple editors contribut different content for 1 channel, do you calculate the revenue per piece of content they produced? How do you streamline this and process payments? Understanding this can make it much easier to scale. Thanks for all the insights over the years.
Hey man, got to know Devin because of you. Thanks for that! Big fan of your content. Getting back to the topic, I think rev share works best when everybody works towards the same company goals, like a bônus 2 times a year for example. I would set a goal for the semester, some people have a bigger cut than others depending on the function and contract. If the goal is met, then you pay this bônus. I definetly recommend setting a bônus based on revenue and not marketing metrics, this way everybody works to maximize share and not views. Hope this helps you in some way. P.S: I also was owner of a marketing agency for the 10+ years and I'm trying to give a shot on making content lately.
I've been watching you for 5 years. Your content has value, it's motivating, and you have definitely influenced me positively. You got this, Devin! Also best of luck with the green tea, fellow tea enjoyer! 🍵
Still here at 22:58. Thank you for sharing your strategy with the community. Content Creation is still something I struggle with, but this gives me a fresh insight.
I'm still surprised that you're only at 100k for what kind of informing content you produce, I've been watching you for a really long time now and was expecting you to be at 1 Million already but this is great that you're explaining exactly your steps on how to do it. Your recent stuff I've been loving and has had a impact on me with how I should be approaching content, even though you're not strictly a content creator, your insights into the space really helps see what potential is there and how creators and agencies get the opportunities they get to where they are now and how those processes are made. Thanks Devin for all the knowledge you have shared with us so far and that I'm very grateful to have found your channel all of those years ago. I can't wait to see where this all will take you in the next few years and I'm excited for more valuable knowledge that not many creators are sharing!
The fact that You're doing this feels amazing since I hardly watch anyone anymore due to topics being too click baity or them not having the mindset + IRL experience that I crave when watching really hardcore gamers. Also chill vibes and other traits makes my pool of possible channels even less + the older I get the more hardcore I become. That's just how I'm wired and love to live. It will be fun playing around with the ideas you mention. Not to make money but to have even more fun. Especially since I choose speed over editing etc etc. Which is why being a Live performer suits me so much better than nost RUclips metas that have ever existed. Good Luck and Have fun, I'll make sure to push your content that I vibe the most now that you've made this decision. Best part is this, with your mindset there's no going back unless real life reasons require.. Happy to have been following you for a very long time. Love, Grayz
I’ve been trying RUclips while also working full-time, and editing is absolutely the biggest time barrier for me. It’s encouraging to know that someone who has it figured out and works so much still needs to hire editors to keep up the frequency, because as someone who doesn’t have those resources, comparing my output to successful creators can be demoralizing. My content has a huge focus on its editing as well, so I think I’ll take a shot at lowering the production value like you mentioned so I can figure out what works. Thanks for the insight and good luck with your goal!
22:45 Looking forward to seeing how this challenge goes! Been following your channel for quite some time now and enjoy the value you bring with your videos. Good luck!
This video Started as a background video for me and I ended up making notes and plan about my own channel with you. Right now currently working on other things but this was great. Great Video
Appreciate you putting out this video and the talk on how necessary failure is, something I think most people know but so good to hear someone talk about so genuinely
Stream submission seems better to have as a subreddit imo. It prevents being spammed and can compile more links that way in an easier format, and allows viewers to vote and filter the actual highest quality stuff to the top
I really like the first step of trying to analyze whether what you are trying to do is reasonably possible with whatever information that is available. It reminds me of something Elon Musk said quite a long time ago, when being interviewed about why he would get into such difficult businesses is, and part of his remark was something to the effect of "...though these companies are in exceedingly difficult industries to succeed or even survive in, I did a lot of analysis to determine that success was in fact one of the possible outcomes." Also totally still around at 22:45
30:40 I love your mindset in regards to "failure" and growth. I've been working towards adopting a similar perspective, but those mind goblins are hard to conquer 😂.
22:45 I did not expect this video to happen, and boy o' boy I'm looking forward to seeing this challenge through. You got this :D I knew you would say green tea product LOL
22:45 curious to see what will happen from here. Especially the written works sound quite interesting. I wouldn't be surprised if you have to change your content to fit a growing audience, but I'm sure your primary works will remain as interesting as the work you have done so far. Might even go back start adding some motivational material again, which I've missed. Good Luck Devin!
I really appreciate how you outlined the path to reaching 1 million with such clarity and focus. I'm seeing progress myself and will definitely apply this to my own journey. Thanks for paving the way!
22:45 I’ve always appreciated the unique insights you offer as someone who’s actively applying their expertise while running a successful agency. You consistently uncover valuable information that others often overlook, and it’s a shame your videos don’t get the attention they deserve. The value they’ve provided me is truly immeasurable, and I’m excited to see your channel grow and reach a wider audience!
22:45 I'm looking forward to this project. I'm still struggling to find my own niche and didn't know where to start again. So i might find some clue in this topic. Great detailed plan btw.
You can do it Devin. Just don't spread yourself thin or burn out. Unrelated; Did you see or hear about what Dan and Steven have been up to this weekend? Regarding Twitch.
Devin, I've been watching you for a while. Everything I've heard has been gold. You've just dropped the biggest framework piece in this video for people serious about content creation and growing their channel. I needed this more than you know only because I know I have talent, just not exposure and cash to push it all. And that's ok. Perfecting craft is key. Ai is crucial in cutting costs. Even now, this video can be spun in different ways. ANYONE LISTEN SHOULD TAKE NOTES ON THIS VIDEO....that is all. Invaluable content always. To success in this endeavor. Thank you, Devin.
22:45 - Your videos completely changed how I view business and marketing and for the better. I started watching a few years ago baited by the video about "why you should not become Twitch Affiliate". Your no-nonsense style is what's severely lacking nowadays, since "style over substance" is everywhere. And I kept asking myself "why does he have so little subs?" esp. since the messages are so powerful and so badly needed. I'll be enjoying the ride with you!
Long time watcher when you pop up. So this video was a great refresher of the things I already learned from you. This is where knowing what to do and knowing how to do it diverge. If I took another serious run at content creation would you suggest making new channels or continue using the current ones?
Super glad your documenting this journey man. Excited to hear about what insight you gain from this journey so many people are undertaking these days. I like where this is going, but you could also include some avenues for a new creator who doesn’t have the capital to pay someone to edit or watch content for them. I know the game plan isn’t the same for everyone and it’s up to the watcher to interpret how they can base their plan around this one, but I’m havin trouble thinking of a substitute. Any ideas?
Completely agree that volume beats quality. Obviously within reason but just like Colin & Samir have said in the past every video is another in your library, good or bad. Looking forward to following your 1M journey too!
Hey I like the challenge and war-room vibe. You've gotta put podcasting at least in the conversation you're a charming guy with connections in the marketing world. It generates ideation, long-form and shorts because of the spontaneous nature of it. You can also sip green tea while you do it. It will save you time and make you money
Watched the video from start finish. I think this is the push that I need personally, I managed to have a single video go viral and now I’m here with 37,000 subscribers and no plan! Looking forward to following this experiment of yours. :)
Still here at the 23 minute mark. Id personally LOVE a video going over Patreon. Streamers and content creators need to know what to do and not to do with the platform.
Hey love to see your thought process on this. Why did you pick Patreon over Ko-fi or a similar platform? I’m considering this choice for myself upcoming and curious about the decision here if its primarily the revenue split ko-fi should be better right? I understand you have existing audience on patreon so that is a factor but if considering a new creator/business does that change your pick?
Just hit the 22 minute callout again for the second time taking notes lets go. (I love this video there's lots of info in this that feels like a peak inside your mind, it feels like I can make this useful for myself even as a lil youtuber)
One of the reasons i havent been prioritizing youtube right now is i feel like if I'm the main personality i should invest in myself and become interesting. I think im at a point next year where i feel ill be compelling.
Really hope this works out, after all the content about content creation you'd hope to be able to make it. I reckon you can pull it off, quote me 2yr from now as a believer.
Would be interesting to see how this pans out for you! I'm getting started on my journey to 100k, and I have my strategies lined up too. Obviously easier said then done but alot of it is in the strategy!
2245 - Go for it! I hope you will succeed, I will be there for interesting long videos and hey maybe I will go for 10k challenge (on other acc). Strategy sounds amazing and probably I will take part of it and use in my way xD
Secret call out gang! still here at 22:45 been a patreon supporter for a few years now, and always get my money's worth. Let me know if you need an editor for you team slots.
You should experiment with changing your thumbnail image, you always have headphones and the microphone. Doesn't stick out in a good way when I see the shorts thumbnails compared to the rest of the thumbnail.
At 3:20, I think you should include @Atrioc, as he’s been doing exactly what you’re talking about. Would you also consider including second channels, like a clips channel and a full VOD channel, if they’re a streamer? On his main channel, he’s posting about 7-10 videos per month, and his second channel is posting once daily. BigA is in the same niche as you so it would be cool to see what you think?
noting ,itll take 2 years STARTING from 130k subscribers already. That first 10k is by far the hardest 10k to get to, once you're at 10k though, you can realistically probably make it to 1 mil at a near certainty if you stick with it and put in the time
I mean, paying for an entire team of editors is a shortcut that undercuts the challenge and certainly one most of your followers can't do, but good luck in any case
A 22:45 view here, love to follow this journey! Quick question, Ludwig says that he doesn't believe that multi-streaming is the "meta" anymore (he states examples like speed, kai, jinxi, etc) because the community / hype factor of having all viewers on one stream, what are your thoughts?
Rather than sacrifice on quality, would it be worth considering outsourcing? Or like you are already hiring an editor right, what is different about everything else? Or I am misunderstanding the point. Anyway, good luck Devin! We'll be here along the way. 💞
Alright Devin, Bet. Been watching your videos for years, lets see if a subscriber can beat you at your own challenge. Race you to 1 Million Subs starting with nothing, last one to the top is a rotten egg!
I believe you when you say you work 60 hours at your other job. Just like I believe the guy who comes in at 6 in the morning every day except when I show up at 7, those days there was traffic for him.
Small correction RUclips takes 45% of ad revenue but on other things like memberships/superchats etc it’s 30%. Good luck on this endeavor!
You should croosspost your article to RUclips Community Post too, we've seen a ton of growth from there as it gets spread out to non subscribers
was thinking the same thing! especially since hormozi has said this worked well for him
22:45

I would try bluesky alongside X also. I will try to copy this downsized for a 1 man team with also a fulltime job still here 22:45 :)

Crazy goal, good luck! You have the expertise to possibly pull it off, but it still sounds like an extremely challenging endeavor

Very interesting to see the research. Inspirational.

You need to cover the ad situation on twitch. It's right up your alley and completely insane.
It's been covered in some of his recent livestreams. You'll find them on here.

22:45 gang, I'm sure you'll get that million
Thanks a lot Devin. This in fact is really inspirational.
You should experiment with changing your thumbnail image, you always have headphones and the microphone. Doesn't stick out in a good way when I see the shorts thumbnails compared to the rest of the thumbnail.

Perhaps the most important video you have ever made Devin!!!
22:45 great analysis
You have to push aside the mind goblins. One snuck out there!
Interested to see what i can learn from this and what you can learn from this. LFG
22~ you make great and interesting content, dude!
Solid sign off about enjoying the journey regardless. Coudln't agree more.
