I remember someone told the story about how confusing they thought Vtuber Twitter was and asking another person "Why do they bring up so much drama? Aren't they in it for the entertainment?" to which the other responded "What do you mean? The drama IS the entertainment."
It would be interesting to see you collab with Atrioc on something. I'm not sure what exactly it could be, but now that I've thought about it, I need it.
Anger drives attention, attention drives consumption. The basic fact of the matter is a lot of brands in 2024 are anti-consumer and so a lot of the influencers who promote them (either directly because they have a direct stake or indirectly because they're being promoted by the brands) push anti-consumer sentiment. The number one thing I look out for these days when making a purchase is whether or not a company or an influencer traffics in this stuff. Because if they do, they're also 100% not going to stand behind their product(s).
Whenever I hear "electrolytes" I think Idiocracy. Also, if it's salt, and your body don't store minerals and just piss the excess and salt have a tendency to clog - a good way to get kidney stones
Obviously false. - Sodium (salt) is one mineral that fits in the group we call electrolytes. - Humans need electrolytes for normal bodily function. Please do your research before spewing nonsense.
I thought it was a pretty well known thing that it's all about farming outrage on social media for most "influencers" to stay relevant, you see it all the time on twitter and people call it out all the time.
I would never know or about lunchy if not watching you, i know the game Logan is playing and its effective against unaware people that follow instinct. Playing into human psychology. Unfortunately for them those tricks aint working on everyone. On social any interaction ins engagement, if huge creator lies its on purpose. Thx for the video.
Isn't prime being sued by Refresco because sales are too low for them to meet their bottle purchase contract? I'm not sure how you can consider that a "success".
If true, how come extremely controversial movies/shows never get renewed for sequels? Morbius, The Acolyte, Joker 2 most recently. These all become huge internet trends. I guess the product has to be good also, but that makes it a bit more nuanced.
Glad to see this vid recommended. Social media wants us to have an opinion and express ourselves to generate interaction. It makes us feel good to stand up to this stuff on social media-sort of like the digital version of "1 like = 1 prayer." Cr1tikal mentioned in one of his videos that he never upvotes or comments on any Reddit posts, ever, and I've started doing this as well after being one of those "like all posts I agree with and comment when I'm angry so that all of Google knows what I like and don't" users. It's freeing once you get used to just observing, especially when it comes to engagement generation like MrBeast, Logan, and KSI are doing.
I agree with everything except I will push back on the sentiment that there is no bad PR. I’m sure the controversy around people like Cody Co and Ava Tyson had a negative impact on their careers and lives.
To speak to what Devin Nash is saying as a consumer, I had never heard of Lunchly outside of the drama and content that was made OVER the drama. Additionally, if you look at people like MrBeast's like ratios after they've been canceled, there is an initial dip, and by simply ignoring it his like ratios are returning back to normal (before his controversy). These people are truly playing the advertising game, in and out.
Yup. I would argue it's worse for mr.beast because he wants to maintain a squeaky clean reputation but I assume he's just gonna keep on chugging on. Many such cases!
The other thing is how this works with the algorithm. If you click on an article talking about the downsides of Lunchly, for example, or watch a video on it, you're more likely to be pushed Lunchly products in ads. You're more likely to be served content that features Lunchly. Lunchly gets pushed by the algo into your brain more and more. And because so few people are sensitive to hate marketing in a way where they actually won't purchase products because of it, over the long run the consistent pushing of ads on you ultimately overwhelms the first negative thing you engaged with.
@@aironbaron I think something to remember is how things are framed. I know almost nothing about Mr Beast, but how many times have we seen forgiveness being sold. It was pretty crazy with Diablo 4. Absolutly loved this video, it really goes to show you any publicity is good publicity! And to me that never really fully clicked until you showed the clip about him "Pupperting" a reaction out of people. Even after many many marketing classes and jobs! And its so insane to me, that I've fallen for this and I know many many others have too. This is a huge reason I hate drama, and try and stay away from it as much as I can, social media and real life. But you also said highly creative/productive people are a threat to the powerful, Is there any good books about this type of knowledge? I've slowly picked up on this and am using this info to farm engagement on RUclips. I get a fair amount of "hate" comments, which I couldn't care less. Not even slightly surprised that they even have writers writing it all out. I just assume everything ragey is fake to garner cash. Sadly it sells out everyone else heavily.
Would this only work with products/services aimed at "general" consumers? I can't imagine outrage working for a hair salon or a super-niche product like melatonin gummies. If I see one really negative review for a place I won't go.

Logan is making money off this, the outraged and the tweeters are at best farming virtue points. It's a shame for sure, but I think this just shows you have to pick your battles. It's the same with AI art; it's better to focus on creating a product that AI can't easily replicate than to spend a bunch of time writing threads on why AI prompters are scum, talentless, losers, etc etc. Same with this Logan controversy. If you truly care about the health of these kids, you can support charities or local schools in healthy eating initiatives. Getting sucked into the temptation of leaning into righteous outage literally does nothing for anyone. It feels good to go off on someone you hate, but all you've done is throw away time whilst the person you're directing your rage at continues to do what they were doing regardless of how good your points are...

Everyone succumbs in some way. If it isn't marketing from products, it's politics or literally anything you can think of that angers people.
Hate marketing is low hanging fruit. Sure it works, but its artless and done by those who have no respect for themselves or others.
