Upon unboxing, I was immediately upset at how the rails were very noticeably bent. But I kept going, all tools needed to assemble were included ruclips.net/user/postUgkxqtX4Dxs6aecAZEuz6GY5-d81YecKCshn and I had it set up in about 30 minutes. Honestly I love this thing, make sure to read the measurements and measure your space so you know if it'll work for you. I bought this to put inside my closet, underneath where I hang my clothes and it is absolutely perfect! It is VERY sturdy and all drawers glide easily and mine are stuffed, and they are still flush when closed.
WoW! I watched this and my head about exploded :-D I want to decoupage everything! Soo much opportunity to work in art . I have limited wall space and tons of stuff I'd like to display... now I can remedy that
My mind is racing with ideas too! (:
...and save those extra 2ply pieces of napkins to use with eating lunch! I'm frugal as you can tell, lol!
Finally, the world has figured out how to add a paper and seal it! Smoke em if you've got em! ) Good demo. Any glue-all or mod podge works with the parchment paper-iron, for anyone who is on a serious budget like me or not in Canada. Shipping would make it over the top in costs.
Thank you! I'm about to start doing this. Now I think I know what to do (cheaply).
What would you recommend you put on top for protection?
@@rlbdirect1428 , Fusion sells a non-yellowing wipe-on poly but any good quality poly would work. Just follow the directions.
@@NextTimeAround great! Thank you so much.
Thanks so much for this thrifty tip!!!🥰
I knew about letting PVA or builder's adnesive dry then reactivating with heat thirty years ago. Much cheaper!
thank you
SO WHAT PRODUCT DO YOU USE??
So you can use the iron on after the pva glue has dried?
Anne , I watched a video about the iron method. The lady’s mom taught her to decoupage in the 70’s using an iron I found it enjoyable. I am 65 and crafting but I never thought to iron it. I used this to make bunnies and I love it
Really that’s great I’m going to try that as you say much cheaper 🙂
Good to know ultra grip works like this. I have been using the iron method with modpodge for years. Another option to clean the edges is using an emery board.
Thanks for that tip! :)
I learned the same thing. mod podge and iron! and the file makes getting the edges off much easier
@@leighmichel5553 did you leave the modpodge to dry first. How you do it pls. Thanks
Marion A Henke curious if there’s any difference in the process using mod podge instead of fashion, eg dry or wet, with iron method.
@@dee6075, I tried both and found I got the best results with Fusion's Ultra Grip as it's pure acrylic emulsion and that's why it sticks so well. I prefer to use it dry as it's easier to apply tissue, napkins and such on dry without them wrinkling and/or tearing. However, you can apply them wet as well. Happy Painting!
FYI - If you are doing this on a piece of furniture that has veneered surface. The veneer will probably come up when you iron it. I would suggest testing it first.
Hi everyone,,just letting you know what this lady is saying is all true and i mean every word,,i had purchased a bottle of ultra grip yesterday and tried it out and im super impressed on the result,,this stuff is so easy to use with above average results,,,mod podge doesnt even come close,,,thankyou to this lady
Robert! I am absolutely thrilled that you've had such success with this method. I agree, I was disappointed with the finish I was getting with Mod Podge. Your comment has brought such a smile to me face. THANK YOU! ~Kristy
You. Are the best. RUclips. Chanel. Ever.
When you let if dry, do you mean for 12 hours or just until dry to the touch?
@@annotatethebible In the video she says 20 minutes. Re-watch the video to see if that helps you.
Next Time Around name the product again and where can you get iy
Love the VW bus dresser. Thanks for the tip!
It is really great to know that the Fusion ultra grip works as well as Mod Podge for an alternate product. I too have been using Mod Podge with this same technique on flat surfaces with the same results...you just need to let the Mod Podge dry completely before ironing on the decorative paper protecting it with parchment paper....no wrinkles!!
Where can I buy these products?
Thanks for the great tip that the iron method can be used with other products too!
@@sandragallagher2408Sandra I found link on Amazon-www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_2?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=Fusion+Ultra+Grip
Sherma-Ann Roberts-Joseph I have used Mod Podge the same way too! Save your money & just let the mod Podge dry and use parchment paper and iron away!
@@shelleylondry1265 which mod podge do you use? Do you add something to add shine once it's dry? TIA
can you do the same with vintage magazines? Thanks
I think decoupage is normally done with one sided paper.
If there is printing on both sides, I think the printing on the back would show through.
You could experiment with a newer magazine page (so you're not destroying a vintage page) and a piece of scrap wood to see how it turns out.
I wonder if a blow dryer on high Heat would work, instead of using an iron, when using the ultra grip.
wow...thanks so much for sharing all this and being so very clear in your explanation, Sherry :)
Thank YOU!
I have a wood bowl I’m thinking of using for a project like this.
Can I use a blow dryer?
Since the iron is also for smoothing out the material, I wouldn't imagine so? I would love to know the answer to this!
Remember, use parchment not wax paper as she said at 9:07.
Also, this only works with flat surfaces that you can put an iron to.
Kristy - Instead of using a brush on top coat - Can I spray a top coat on to avoid the wrinkles? Thank you
Absolutely. And if for some reason you find it wrinkles the paper, just run your iron over it once your top coat is dry.
WHEN ADDING TO DRAWERS- I ADD TISSUE OR CARDSTOCK AND USE FOAM CORE CUT TO DRAWER SIZE- USE 2 DIFFERENT PATTERNS- SO IT CAN BE DIFFERENT ON BOTH SIDES
AAAAHH!!! WHY ARE YOU YELLING!!! ;D
@@IHarryPotter7
Lol
I am new to this and do not understand your response. Will you please explain further?
Using all capital letters (upper case)is like you are yelling. Some people are bothered by it.
Oh what a great idea! Thank you!
Very interesting and inspiring I must give it a go, thank you.
Very clear and easy to follow. Your enthusiasm is infectious...Thank you so much!
Just wondering if you can use a heat gun for going around corners on a dresser
I haven't personally tried this but if you do, be sure to post your results.
It worked! I used Ultra Grip to line the inside of a box with fabric, and it looks amazing!
That Ultragrip is just so expensive!
Use Mod Podge
It works same way too.
This iron - on method of decoupage is the absolute BEST WAY to apply your paper. I would never do it any other way now. I just finished decoupaging an old wooden tray and I ironed the paper down onto the base of the tray, and then I cut away the excess paper with an exacto knife. I still use Mod Podge but I let it dry first before ironing on the paper. Love from Amanda in Australia
Omg I'm so happy to the person who discovered this. Y'all are awesome 💕 thanks for the share
Thank u!!!! Come to my page also and subscribe..I'm new at DIY's... but I also want to get my ideas out there...I have yet to speak out on a video though
If you are applying a tissue paper just in certain places with most painted surface exposed, do you apply Ultra Grip all over? Or just under places with paper covering? Thanks for any advice in comment stream. I'll check back.
OMG I can't wait to try this! I've decoupaged before but never loved it cause not able to get all the wrinkles out without tearing the paper. Thank you for this great method!
FYI this technique works with tons of products. I have been diluting PVC glue - 80:20 glue/water, and minwax polycrylic is another one that works well. Apply the same way, allow to dry, iron on. They all work. So you might already have what you need for this.
So helpful. My cheapskate instinct was already thinking "I bet that works with mod podge" :)
Good to know. I was trying to think what I could use in place of the 22$ fusion (glue...). Polycrylic sounds like another good one! Thank you ~
@@niamhperreault4844 I tried it with Mod Podge too but the results weren't as good. However, it still worked with tissue and very thin paper.
So helpful, thanks. Is it PVC or PVA glue/
@@tabbyshoaibIt is PVA glue 👍
Super helpful info! I just ordered 13 sheets of decoupage paper a few days ago and have never applied decoupage paper before, so I'm very excited to try this. I'd love to start doing decoupage without all the hassle of the wrinkling and other problems when using other techniques. Thank you!
Hippie Van! Very cute.
omg, I love the dresser wearing a VW bus costume!
This is awesome!!!! I want to now try on some of my boring flat surfaces. Quick question, does the painted surface have to a flat matte paint or is it okay if I have already sealed a piece with a top coat (but not wax)? Thank you, I just found you and subscribed.
I can't see why it wouldn't work. Give it a try and let us know how it works.
Thanks so much for making these videos. They’re very well presented and very informative. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 One tip... don’t have any background music playing, it’s very distracting. 👍🏼
I actually enjoy quiet background music! Isn't it interesting how we all learn and pay attention differently? :-)
I Love it 👍
Best video ever!! You answered every question I had on this. Thank you.
Basically, good old PVA glue will do the same job......dirt cheap in craft shops!
Patio elf here on RUclips taught me this years ago. You can use any decoupage glue☺️
Penelope Branson and also glue for papier-mâché? Thanks in advance!
Wait you can use mod podge & let it dry and do the exact same thing with an iron?
@@blackwood06 - Yes, but I didn't find it worked as well. Results were hit and miss.
@@NextTimeAround I guess I got lucky... 3 weeks later when I went to iron on my napkin it worked great!
WITH OR WITHOUT THE IRON??
Loved this video, thank you...love Cambridge ONT too, I'm a Torontonian living in UK. We don't see Fusion here, but Frenchic paints do a finishing coat, to waterproof and protect the paint or use with decoupage. I wonder if it will iron with the greaseproof paper,,,as it's called here. I'm chalk painting all my old one furniture and want to decoupage on some of the pieces, so will try this with scrapbook paper. ❤️🍁
Can you use this technique on a cabinet surface that cannot be laid down? I would be applying it onto the surface vertically. Will it drip?
Yes you can.
That dresser is fantastic ! What a clever idea !
That dresser is bada$$
That is amazing Kristy, using the iron...WOW, what a great idea! Good job on finding the tip!
Thank you. :)
I have some heavy fabric will it work
Thanks for the video! I just found out about decoupage while looking for a way to decorate my dresser. I was looking at lame doilie's and such stuff when I just landed on the page for some beautiful cocktail napkins. I looked at other's comments and they were talking about decoupage! I think this year for Christmas I'm going to get all kinds of nice gift boxes and decoupage them so they are decorative, but more sustainable. Our family loves to reuse gift boxes, but the paper year in and year out is such a waste. We switched to real fabric ribbon many years ago and we try not to destroy our tissue paper (but now I'm thinking if there's a better alternative to that). For my mom's bday this year I just got some bright colorful gift boxes with the most adorable ribbons... we will be able to reuse those for a while because I didn't put anything on them and just them shut with some ribbon. Also, how much easier is it to just put things in boxes and tie them up instead of having to wrap everything? And honestly, you can only use so many bags if you want a pretty display under your tree.
I can believe that you are not only Canadian, but from my very province! Wow! Crazy! Nice video, thanks!!
Just found your page and love your tip. New at this so I have question. How would you do this technique on a round surface such as a glass bottle?
I find this technique works best on a flat surface or something you can easily iron.
I put two coats down. It worked great until it cooled. I’ve come back with the iron several times, and I think I’m actually getting more bubbles each time. I want to layer more paper on this desk to make a collage, but I’m afraid to go any further. Any ideas? I used a nice Italian paper that I had ordered online, so I dont want to rip up and start over. Before beginning, I cleaned it with your tsp alternative as recommended, by the way.
I'm thinking you didn't apply enough Ultra Grip. As much as you don't want to lift it off, I think I would run the iron over it to soften the Ultra Grip and gently remove your paper. Then apply another coat of Ultra Grip and try again.
Can I use plain old computer paper for decoupage?. I am a complete novice at this but have some images on paper I want to use on painted cans. Please help 😐
Yes you can, as long as you fell comfortable ironing on cans. They might get hot.
Do I still apply the modpodge?
Great tutorial! Thanks for easy to follow instructions. Going back to the store to get the parchment paper and get busy.
The best tutorial l have seen yet! Thank you!
Been doing this since1973!! Great stuff
Just learned how to print onto white tissue paper with an inkjet printer from you tube! Want to print some of my daughters' amazing art work to do this on plaques!
What a lovely idea 👍
Been doing this with Mod Podge for a ages 👍🏽
Ursula O'Brien - hi! when you do this with mod podge do you use it the same way? Two thin coats, let dry, and iron on medium heat?
Good question!?! I was wondering the samething.
Do you put the mod podge over the top also?
I tried this with Mod Podge and it was hit or miss as to how well it worked. Using the Ultra Grip has worked the best every single time.
@@peggyk123 , you should seal whatever you end up using. So yes, if you like using Mod Podge then seal with that.
You have no idea how much I needed this.
You can do the same same with mod podge using the same application with the iron ,no bubble or wrinkles either...just saying
Dawn Lindgron what do you put on top to seal
I've seen this done with Mod Podge and other decoupage glue
@@katoashasmith7910 I just finished a table top with modpodge over the paper cutout designs and am going to use modpodge brand super hi-shine clear acrylic sealer spray over the whole thing after 24 of curing.
Thank you so much for sharing this technique. Does it work with rice paper decoupage? Im working on a flat surface coffee table. I also would like to apply to stained Wood unpainted-any suggestions for that? Thank you
I was lucky enough to learn this I call Iron method, from a very creative woman, 3-4 years ago, and it works magics. You can do wrapping paper and posters over dresser, too. Just another tip, the surface should be painted white before glue (any glue, mod podge, school + water glue is fine, too, other water based sealers)... Glue will dry clear, but colored surface will distort the paper, if thin enough
Thank you for discussing poster application.
Gr8 ideas. I will try yr method. Thanks for the tips
Canadian here also. Would this work if I was doing this to books?
Hi Dianne. I haven't tried that but I can't see why not. Give it a try and let us know how it turns out. :)
I love your presentation!! THANK YOU xxx
Loved the details you’ve explained . Thank you ! Lovely works and presentation!🌹
I can't get my mog podge to dry on glass its ben 3mo. and still tacky help
That is very strange. Perhaps use a hair dryer on low heat to see if that helps.
GAME CHANGER !!!!
Sounds like a great product
the ironing part seems so awesome
An what got my attention way the awesome VW dresser
Hi. I used wallpaper, quite thick, then went over with modge podge to protect the top, it bubbled more, then I tried to iron it and it was sticking to the Parchment paper. I ended up taking it all off should i off keft it?. Can you advise before I do it again.
Oh no! This is degrading a beautiful centuries old art. This is not decoupage. I have taught and made traditional decoupage for over 30 years. Call it something else. Hiram manning would be turning over in his grave!
Hello, I want to purchase this where can I fine it?
Heather Miller At any craft store such as Michaels!
Hi, I would like to purchase one of the bottle of ultra grip. Do you have any website maybe I can purchase one a ship to my country. Thanks
I have clear plastc drawers that id like to cover. This product you show here looks pretty smooth! Thank you.
I’m confused. I just want to put flowers cut from napkins on small areas of a table top. Do I apply the fusion coating on the whole top or just the areas I want the flowers to adhere? What if some of the fusion coating isn’t covered by the tissue does it show?
First off, GREAT VIDEO!!! Very informative, nice job. 2. Can I use this technique with printer paper. Any help is appreciated.
Yes you can. I would think laser printed would be better than ink jet. Ink Jet printed paper might bleed. It's best to just try it on a board first to test it out.
Would this work on a refrigerator?
Hi Meg. I'm not sure. Perhaps give it a try and see how it turns out. Let us know....might be an easy way to give your fridge an update.
Can’t wait to try this! WHAT DOLLAR STORE DID YOU GET THE PRETTY FSBRIC ROLL FROM?

How do u iron the tissue on a draw front verticle if the the glue is dry & then u have to hold both parchment paper & tissue underneath whislt trying to iron over the top holdinf them up veticle without burning yourself it seems hazardos to me. I am planning on doind a fridge freezer this would be differcult using this method.
Cambridge Ontario. Wow I was in Galt Ontario in the late 60's, actually at the Ontario Training School for Girls. Is that still there? Love the video. Great!!!!
I just checked. Looks like it closed in 1976. Not sure if the building is still there. Glad you like the video.
Cool. I worked out that ironing over parchment worked to remove initial crinkles and bubbles, purely by accident but now i know what was used as a base and to allow it to dry, thats it all made clear now, i wasnt leaving the base to dry, and was using modge bodge for the base/glue and seal, with ironing in between and in the end and it was working but took much longer than necessary so thanks for this info x
Does the fusion top coat yellows over time?
No. It's non-yellowing. :)
No it doesn’t.
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and talent!
Greg tutorial! A lot of new ideas. Hope I can find more info from "Next Time Around". Elle

Well what is your technique? Im very interested and thank you
As far as $ store wrapping paper, they have made in the USA with grid on the back yes the $5 per roll kind, so double check next time you are there
Awesome good to know! Thank you for sharing...

Can you do this with poster paper ?
Glad you asked. My recent video does exactly this: ruclips.net/video/Y-zmv6qxszc/видео.html

I live in israel and have never seen the ultra grip can you recommend something to replace it?
Just became a crafter and love this Decoupage. Needs to be a little louder.
Shyrleen Morris louder? Maybe turn your device volume up
Same concept can be done with the Mod Podge. I apply my mod podge, let it dry, and then iron on my tissue paper/napkin/etc.
I tired it with Mod Podge first but didn’t find the results as good and as consistent as I got with the Ultra Grip.
Do you find it just as successful with the modge podge? Some people have said that it also works with PVA, which I'm hoping is correct, as we don't get modge podge here in Britain. At over £30 for a 500ml can of the Fusion, it's very expensive, though it's not so bad if the can lasts a long while.
Can you decoupage walls with fabric or papers?
I can't see why not. Give it a try and let us know ow it turns out. :)
You can use liquid starch on your walls. That way if you have to move you just take it down and wash the walls.
Liquid starch intead of ultra grip ? Can you explain a little how?
Really appreciate your responses.
@@shumailkhan8316 my mom said they use to do that on the walls. In places your not allowed to paint or apply wallpaper. They would put the fabric in liquid starch and put it on the walls. They would also use contact paper. That way when you had to move again they could just take it down and wash the walls. I'm sure they used lighter fabrics and put them up when they were tacky. Like you would for wallpaper. It's not permanent.
belindajackson38 - I’ve never heard about this! But it sounds so cool! I want to try it, but I have to catch Big Daddy in there gone for a day...it saves a lot of explanations! Lol!
Hi from South Africa can I use the same method on a ceremic garlic plate
Wow. Great tutorial
Thank you! :)
I thought it was a butterfly not a Volkswagen
do you need 2 coats of the top ciat as well or just one?
That would depend on how you plan to use the piece after. If it’s going to have things thrown on it (like your car keys on a hall table or inside a drawer that will have lots of use) I would apply 2 coats of Tough Coat for added durability.
This didn't work for me !!! totally ruined a $20 piece of paper on my coffee table, didn't attach and left large bubles all over
I'm sorry to hear this. What type of finish is on your coffee table?
Was your board painted prior to putting the Ultra Grip on?
Love the finished product!
