I smiled when she said that she's more interested in the wrapping paper than the gift. My grandmother never reused the paper, but she loved collecting different papers. As a child, NONE of us were ever able to just tear into a gift flinging paper everywhere, we had to use Granddaddy's pocket knife and gently cut it where the tape sealed the paper !

Wow ! Many years ago I 'dabbled' in decoupage ... I had two small round tables that were dark brown melamine finished ... and were vile !! lol!! I had been shopping in an oriental food shop ... and my purchases were wrapped in Japanese and Chinese newspapers ! Wonderful ... as both my husband and I are very interested in these countries being martial artists !! I took the newspapers and tore the edges to soften them ... and put little articles all over the tables covering that nasty brown, with PVA glue. And then finished it with dozens of layers of the glue until like your bowls ... they shone ! I used them for years ... they were used and abused by the children ... and by red wine ... and it never marked them and always scrubbed off ! Lately I have been wanting to decoupage a large set of drawers ... and was looking here on RUclips and found your glass tutorial above ! I just LOVE those bowls .... .and once I have done the essential things like finishing the crochet blanket for my eldest grandson, and decoupaging the drawers ... glass bowls will by my next project !! You have led me astray Viveca... and I am so pleased !! lol!! Thank you !

Many times... when life gets rocky...as it often does for senior seniors....I turn to this video for distraction. The sheer beauty of the work takes me to a calm and awesome place. My own attempts of an autumn leaf plate...easy to start with Dollar Tree inexpensive items...missed the Boat Of Beauty. Such a humbling experience. However, I displayed it with pride.....the Autumn cookies served on top were a success and hid the lumps and wrinkles underneath the glass.. . Surely my Christmas plate will come out better....but just in case....Christmas cookies are at the ready. Thank you for bringing me such opportunity. This art form is my new passion. At 87, I needed one. Sign me ......The Recliner Babe.

Omg this is my first time here and I'm in love with your channel already. The way you demonstrate how and why your doing decoupage, is like listening to someone who is reading a wonderful story to us. I am 65, and i have never really done any kind of art or crafts, until a few months ago. I've been painting pictures with watercolor and acrylic mostly and i'm watching lots of videos to help me learn. I'm not very good at any of it yet, but I love doing it. One day, about 2 weeks ago I decided to try decoupaging something for the first time ever, and I just became obsessed with wanting to do more and more of it. I can't even look at anything anymore without wondering what it would look like decoupaged 😂 And now finding your channel, makes me so excited to do something on glass. I didn't even know you could use glass. So thank you so much for sharing your process and the history of this art form with us. Your work is stunning, and you have really inspired me. I subscribed, and i look forward to more of your wonderful videos. 😊 Thanks again.

Absolutely beautiful!!!! Have you ever thought of resin painted on as a final coat? You’d only have to do 1 or 2 coats at the most.

This is a lost art. I'd love to know what supplies you use, the names of glue, where you get paper, ect. I've been wanting to try this for fun for years but dont know what to buy and kind find a lot on internet about process

Stacey Carbary most people start with using mod podge glue but as she said white children’s glue is fine
      And any paper works
There’s no real rules... start small and watch videos to get ideas and you’ll get tips along the way.
I’d start with something flat though, what she’s doing takes a lot more skill and practise. 3D decoupage is a whole new level

How about putting some resin act as varnish.. They are more viscous, so the glass look can ve achieve with little application.. and if you use the uv sensitive kind, i think it would more faster to complete the project.

Tánia Villagrán seriously!! If someone disliked this it’s maybe because they’re frustrated creatives? That’s something so tragic, in the modern era it can be hard to carve out time for creative expression but it’s such a valuable thing to do I believe ignoring it brings humans deep unhappiness that leeches out onto strangers and society as a whole.
There’s so many miserable people, and their hobby seems to be spreading the misery.
Her work, it may not be something I’d put in my home but it’s an aesthetic opinion and I can see her work and appreciate her eye and her craftsmanship. She’s a real artisan and just because I don’t like decorating with flowers doesn’t mean her work is bad!!
Truth be told my second watch has me wanting all the bowls they show 😂
I’d love to know where she sources a lot of her stuff papers!
I see she’s got a LOT of clippings and she saves wrapping paper but there’s those Japanese papers that seem to be the majority of the backgrounds and those would be a ton of fun to play with!

jean wini it truly is, the first time around I thought “wow, this is spectacular!” But the flower motifs didn’t suit my particular aesthetic, second time watching I’m fully smitten by her work and desperately want a piece 😂🙏🏻😂
I think with that much varnish it could be wiped down, but definitely not submerged or used to set in water for any length of time.
Varnish holds up but not forever.

@@jw3280 you can use a High gloss sealer spray and wash it with your hands.
I make a gloss varnish that is water repellent and can be applied in different jobs and crafts but does not apply where food goes.
