I love that Wilson was able to dose House, for once, in this episode with antidepressants that's why he was smiling when talking the girl about how she was going to die.

The frustrating thing is that antidepressants really Do Not work like that. House would absolutely benefit from the right antidepressants, but it usually takes between 2 weeks and a month to take effect.
@@anjelica948there are antidepressants that can work almost instantly, not safe to work with but they seem to dose each other with drugs anyway
@@dominicwehrmann8515 What antidepressant works instantly? My mom is a psychiatrist, and I also studied psycho-pharmacology in graduate school. I have never Once heard of an actual antidepressant that can work “instantly”

Legally, if the patient is over 18, he can't tell the parents, but must hold her for at least 3 more days for a psych watch and evaluation (at least in my state). If she is delusional, then he could tell the parents if they are noted as emergency contact, or if no contact is noted, they are who the doctor can find (please double-check me because it has been several years since my grad student classes but I am 95% sure of this).
I love how the patient's visitors always ask, "What's happening?" when machines start beeping as if they haven't seen any medical dramas

Many years ago I drank a bottle of drain cleaner - I was in the depths of depression and couldn’t imagine any other option. Fortunately I was found by a roommate and brought to the hospital. The situation was bad but it could have been so much worse, and at the very least it forced me to start seeking help. Now almost a decade later I’m in treatment with a psychiatrist and still dealing with lingering health complications, but I’m doing much better overall. Moral: do not drink cleanser it is bad for you!

The "yeah sure" at the end is so sad cause many people who fail at a suicide attempt will go for another attempt afterwards. This can happen a day later but also years later after they appear to be doing better from an outside perspective
Because depression doesn't care. It cannot care. It is an irrational sickness. It would be like promising one will never get a cold again. The cold virus isn't something evil, or calculating, or malicious. It is a sickness, the same as depression, and whilst depression is rarely ever cured, if it and its symptoms are not properly managed, it will return.
Only way to help someone fighting that mental battle is to help them find a reason to 'want' to live... spay-painting the world bright colors does nothing for their will to be in it.
@@Gwydion_Wolf I've often said this to my mental healthcare workers; The medications they give me paint the world in brighter colours, but my thought patterns remain exactly the same. It's like my depressive state is simply now accompanied by chintzy, twee piano music in the background, which in a lot of ways is far, far worse because my mental state is starting to see my depressive states as something good and acceptable because they're no longer as, well, sharp I suppose is a good word to describe it.

TV used to be good before the woke mind virus took over.
Its crazy, this is my favorite show. I've probably only watched 5-10 shows in my entire life (I mean watched them all the way through, not just 1-2 episodes). But I have seen every episode of house 7 times. I STILL forget some every now and then. Like I had completely forgotten this episode existed. Guess that means it's time to watch it again.

@@komaa1712 Yeah, maybe in like the general audience, but for me it wasn't one of the ones that stuck with me. To be clear, I remember it once I saw this, but if I were going to try to recall each episode of the show id have missed this one.

sadly it never does, some things help a bit, but it creeps back in.
The thing is, depression is uncurable.
I feel like many more people need to understand this about depression; It is a sickness, and it does not act rationally. Depression isn't merely 'being sad', it is the brain malfunctioning.

Need more biology in human affairs classes, anatomy/physiology, etc. So many people consider depression a moral or personal weakness instead of a biochemistry issue.
This is true. I’ve been living with depression for a little over a decade, but i have been getting treatment for it and im doing better. My anxiety isnt so great still
It is also bad when one is misdiagnosed with major depression and actually has bipolar disorder 2, where one only cycles into hypomania. Every antidepressant on the market tried (at the time), and no one could figure it out? Oh please. Sorry for the short rant. Please proceed.

The fact that I looked house up after like 15 years of not watching and a video about this show was posted 2 hours ago is insane. Just shows how great of a show it was that it’s even still relevant!
I loved this show because of the story concepts being realistic enough, since in real life the only time a doctor would suspect depression is when the patient already tried to kill themselves or on the verge of death.
My GI doctor noticed that I had symptoms related to GI problems but also related to depression, she immediately recommended me to a neurologist and psychologist to get medications for it. So yeah I have plans but I haven't done any of them anymore.
Ask someone who suffers from depression, it gets that bad sometimes but we got to try not to give up so easily that's why we need people who will love us and be there for us when we're going through tough times and it's hard I'm not even going to lie as for me it's really hard. But I got to stay and be strong for my daughter I just have to be. This episode really hit hard for me. Even if it's just the show, real problems. 😞💔
I pray you, me and evreyone who suffers will be happy again. I haven't felt right for 6 years, I just want to be happy again. I hope the life changes I make help with that.
It's a rough weight to carry. Hit hard for me too. It's exhausting, having to stay strong. But nothing worth doing was ever easy.

I totally get it I had a bad experience in my childhood that started this depression in me and from there now it just stuck with me and it's hard now that I have a daughter I'm like highly highly protective with her and I get nervous and everything but I got to be strong for her I really do. It's hard when you have depression a lot of people call it a phase but it's really not a phase I don't understand how people would think we fake stuff like this you can't fake things like this. I really pray you will find happiness one day in life you will and God will make you happy again you just got to hold out and hold tough God always challenges people through hardships through things bad and as a result will get you know as a test God will give us a test and if we pass that test will be rewarded soon enough, so just hold on.

I almost agreed with the other Dr.s here, seeing as Dr. House stuck with his diagnosis despite everything the labs said.
Rule out any explanatory dx that CAN be tested for - then consider what can't.
