My mom had Cushing’s disease. At her biggest she was around 400lbs. It’s shameful how many doctors wouldn’t listen to her when she told them there was something wrong. No amount of diet or exercise helped her lose weight. She had high blood pressure, loss of bone density, the classic hump on her upper back/neck, debilitating migraines, and mood swings. She fell into a deep depression when she was sick and I honestly don’t know how she did it. If we went out to eat people would look at her so disgusted. It took 2 surgeries to remove the entire tumor she had on her pituitary gland. She’s much better now but is on so many medications still.

Fun fact: This episode saved life od 33 years old woman form Poland. She gain 18 kg in 6 months and no doctor was able to diagnosed her (she had other symphtoms too) One day Małgorzata saw this episode and understood that she has Cushing.
Sad thing is that she went to many doctors after that and no one belived her that she has Cushing (doctors in Poland hate when patient is diagnosing herself) Even specialist in Cushing dissese. Even specialist in Cushing dissese told her to eat less. Finally, she belived that she don't have Cushing and that she is fat because she eat too much. One day she went to the doctor prof. Grzegorz Zieliński and he diagnosed her with Cushing. Right after meeting with doctor she was scheduled operation. Now she is fine :) (sorry for my english, hope you understad the story)

I’d say he’s good for reconsidering his stance, but only that.
People have died or had their lives destroyed because doctors refused to think beyond their biases and stand acting as “NOBLE GUARDIANS OF THE NOBLE HEALTHCARE SYSTEM!!!!!!!!! YE SHALL NOT TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE SYSTEM WHILE I STAND HERE, YOU DISGUSTING LOSER FREAK!!! Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to go charge 1-3k to your insurance for the 8th time you’ve come here, because the 5 minutes I’ve spent mocking you for the 8th time is worth is.”
I literally had a doctor walk in (I was freaking out because I had my period 3 times in a month’s span.) take one single look (you know where) and said aloud “Oh, you’re just fat.” And walked out.
I didn’t see her the rest of the appointment. I was forbidden from taking any tests to see what may be the issue. It was the only time I ever had so many periods so quick, I may be sterile now, I don’t know and my mental state sucks so much I’m not going to go pay those freaks to confirm and then screw my mental state forever. That is only one of many incidents that have happened in my attempts to get help.
So sorry, I don’t think kindly of doctors being stubborn and refusing to do any treatments because they think they can read your entire life by starring at your mid section. I think any who does so should be fired and blacklisted.

Turns out, he was fat because he was retaining 50 lbs of water in his body, which was because of his heart malfunctioning. And the heart was malfunctioning was due to her putting him on medication that could not be taken together. The mix of medication she put him on either caused, or exacerbated any preexisting heart conditions.

I've seen like 3 episodes and it feels like every episode is: obscure condition comes in, House comes up with a potential solution, everyone says it's wrong but they don't have a choice and do what House says, treatment does alrightish, House insists his original diagnosis is wrong, everyone insists his first diagnosis is right, one again it's Houses world and they're all living in it so House does some thing that "is gonna kill the patient and isn't right" but then it miraculously is and the patient most of the time lives but sometimes doesn't if the disease was fatal anyways.
Is that a good episode synopsis or have I just seen very similar episodes?

The scene where House, Chase and Foreman do a last chance dianostic spitball between each other is probably one of my favorite moments in the entire show. They don't have time for the usual jokes, insults or games, they all just very clinically and professionally work off each other to find solutions and options. Even when House comes up with a crazy theory that the team finds 'impossible', they don't call him crazy or threaten to stop him, they just listen through his explanation and are willing to go with it after hearing his explanation.
It always feels like a breeze of fresh air to me, seeing that part play out

It's crazy to me that none of them figured that out before. She was followed by multiple nutritionists, she took diet pills in secret and Foreman literally had confirmation from a kid who hated her that all she did during recess was run around the courtyard. Obviously, if she does all of that and she's still not losing any weight, something is wrong!

The thing I love about this show is how house never expects or wants thanks for his work. He saved lives and even gets scorn for it sometimes. To him, it's all about the problem and the solution to such. This tv show really shows how geniuses operate. A fight between ethics and resolutions is a tough and horrible fight.

I really enjoy this younger House. He genuinely seems to care about the patient, as much as his puzzle, maybe even more than the puzzle. He genuinely doesn't want the girl to suffer or die, and that matters more than his personal enjoyment. House honestly lost sight of that as time went on. He didn't notice how much more he started to invest into the game more than the saving of lives.

I developed Cushings as a result of being prescribed a corticosteroid medication. I literally gained 230 pounds in less than 3 months. I've never had a weight issue, I was planning on running my third consecutive NYC marathon later that year, I've always been athletic. It was seriously mind blowing. The minute I weaned myself off of the steroid based medication, the weight gain stopped. Thank goodness I have a decent diet which allowed me to lose weight. But, it takes a good amount of time to lose over 200 pounds. I still have 50 pounds to go. But, the skin breaks from gaining so much weight so quickly will probably require plastic surgery.

I love watching the gears turn in House's head. I work on production lines at my work, and as one of the senior guys, I'm often called over to help diagnose and fix problems with said lines. Whenever I get stumped by something that's not obvious, I go into House mode and get those gears moving. It becomes a challenge to solve the problem.
