i will suspend this deck building idea until the morning
nICe
you casting it now?
@@jonasvogt3278 nvm i think it was suspend 3
I am wayyy too ADHD to remember suspend triggers.
Well, if you run Rose Tyler, that just means she'll keep getting bigger.
Alaundo the Seer doesn't truly suspend. Most importantly, he doesn't give the cards he exiled the ability to remove a time counter each turn. He only removes time counters from each card when you tap him. Now granted, since he costs no mana to tap, you're gonna do it every turn that he's out. But if he gets removed or stunned or such, those suspended cards ain't tickin' down each upkeep.
This is arguably an upside, since it means that if you use him to suspend a card that has suspend already, it will tick down on your upkeep in addition to when his effect activates without having to pay for suspend, which means the cards that give value when they tick down go into exile with plenty of counters off his ability for no downside. Giving you plenty of mana to do disgusting untap shenanigans.
As someone who has built an Alaundo deck, this can be an issue, but he is very easy to play draw go control with since he has no mana investment into his ability (so you can hold up counterspells etc). Then you just play put out untappers like seedborn muse, chakram retriever etc. Plus since your spells don't downtick naturally, you can also suspend counterspells as a manipulation tactic, just get the counterspell to one time counter on it and keep alaundo untapped.
He is actually very fun if you can find a way to more easily down tick your suspend because you get alot fast, and it can easily make your turns take 10 minutes just cause you activated him a few times
@@charliescheirmann2926or just build him as stupid non deterministic combo it's so easy to just combo off and cast your whole deck and win after a 20 minute turn because people have to sit through it
@@devan9197 Very true, intruder alarm plus a single untapper will usually outright end a game. If your opponents don't have any removal, then them playing a single creature will allow you to start up your engine all over again
Retreat to coralhelm and venture forth means every 3rd alaundo trigger is effectively free and nets a land.
And chakram retriever can easily play out a HUGE chunk of your deck if you can make sure you're casting spells off every alaundo trigger
@@charliescheirmann2926 you don't even need Intruder alarm if you build the deck right you should be able to cast everything with just a chakram retriever
I love the spells that re-suspend themselves with 3 time counters. I'm super happy WotC has given that cycle new cards in recent years. They are very hard to stop outside of straight countering them when the time comes. And them being instants/sorceries means they trigger thing like magecraft which can be nifty.
Venture Forth supplies a steady stream of lands.
Suspended Sentence means you will always have a get out jail free card for big creatures coming every 3 turns, so you only need to worry about running down the clock until you do.
Inspiring Refrain is almost as potent at drawing cards as a draw engine that draws you a card every upkeep, but its safe from most interaction outside of counterspells.
Festering March giving -1/-1 to opponents creature for the turn means it's extremely hard for your opponents to justify casting 1 toughness creatures, which is especially back breaking if that includes their commander.
And Charnel Serenade is awesome in a graveyard/self-mill deck, reanimating a new threat every 3 turns can be game winning on its own.
I hope wizards keeps printing them because I really would like to make a deck that revolves around them!
A while ago I theorycrafted a Tenth Doctor and Clara Oswald suspend deck with storm, the idea being you get to suspend stuff and manipulate time counters so you get to cast a bunch of spells for free on one turn, then storm off with Storm, Force of Nature or Minds Desire or Empty the Warrens and stuff. Very fun idea, used some tech from this vid to make some improvements!
Omg bro looks so different
Rather than watch, I will put this video into “watch later” for a number of minutes equal to the view count
I did leave dirt under my pillow for you milord
one of my favorite cards is face of boe. It lets you tap it and play a card for its suspend cost, which can be pretty op when you cast a greater garagdon or deep sea kraken for next to nothing.
all fun and games til dranith magistrate locks out that omniscience you suspended
The tenth doctor is great if you can manipulate the top of your library, in the blue color you have a lot of good options for that 👍
Add in brainstorm and scroll rack effects to also make sure that any cards that stray into your hand can get back on top, too!
The guac has graced our undeserving ears once again
I have a suspend deck, and you would not believe how often opponents argue with me about suspended creatures gaining haste when they come in. I almost always end up having to look it up on my phone and show them the rules for suspend.
Rousing Refrain also goes infinite with Rift Elemental if someone has 6 cards in their hand. Costs 2 to remove a time counter with Rift, and away you go.
I've always been more of a belt kinda guy, but after watching this I think I'm gonna try being a suspender.
Rose Tyler is sorely underrated as a suspend commander. Sure, Clara is flashier, but Rose applies SO much pressure in the early game, and even if the table keeps _her_ in check, your suspended threats are still ready and waiting for the late game, or have already hit the field. Pick your partner of choice, slap in some evasion effects (Sword Coast Sailor my beloved), add in some of the repeatable suspend cards, and you're set.
Dammit, I was just about to build one, but now I'll have to scrap that idea because I won't feel like a unique snowflake anymore!
Im actually working on a tenth doctor and you make this video XD
Great Video!!!!!! I really want to build one now. You have convinced me.
The issue with these "come back every 3 turns" is that they sound good when you read them, but effectively a commander game has only about 10 turns. Assuming you play some ramp and commander early game, that thing goes off twice in the BEST case scenario. In most cases you play them on turn 5 or 6 and you are happy if they go off once. If you go with these cards you really have to make sure you have a consistent way to remove time counters or get extra upkeeps.
This is why the Tenth Doctor is probably the best suspend commander.
7 mana to time travel 3 times. Pricey, but then you realise that with those "come back every three turns" spells, you can easily put yourself in a position where those spells are being cast *every* turn.
Chronomantic Escape is real fun with this trick, but Rousing Refrain has the potential to go infinite. You just need an opponent with 7 cards in hand, 5 cards in hand if you have Training Grounds and/or Zirda, the Dawnwaker, 3 if you have both, and with Storm-Klin Artist and Nalfeshnee, all combined you'd only need an opponent with 1 card.
Yeah, somewhat magical Christmas land, but the point is, suspend can get real good if you have consistent means to remove time counters.
It's not in a suspend deck but I run Curse of the Cabal as pretty fun "removal."
nalfeshnee is great for for suspend decks, especially tenth doctor, only need an opponent with 4 cards in hand to go infinite
I have an idea you should make a yoda deck and use laser screwdriver as a lightsaber
I tried to do something along these lines with Pia Nalaar Consul of Revival. Unfortunately, one of my friends decided to be sweaty with Drannith Magistrate or had a lingering plague effect that chewed through the trickled in soldiers and Dinosaurs that were produced by a couple Suspend cards. Like, what did I do to deserve this? I'm just trying to goof around and bro shat on the demo deck.
Tenth Doctor with Amy Pond as the Doctor's Companion is ridiculous btw.
Yes sir quips I will start creation on my deck by sunfall
I already did... like 4 years ago.
Highest storm count ive ever hadn well over 99k spellls on the stack
Make a skibidi toilet themed commander deck where you have giants for titans with different abilities and you upgrade them with equipment i know it’s brainrot but it should be fire. Already made one if u want any tips
Bro that would be fire with inferno titan or smt
@@sharroncreates7575bro I literally had that in my deck list 😂😂
Quips&Quac please stop suspending the LeBron James EDH deck tech
Suspend decks work great (I assume) right up until they run into one of the dozens of different proliferate decks out there (which will proliferate fast than you remove time counters).
Proliferating doesn’t actually work on suspend! Proliferate only works on permanents or players, and suspended cards are neither of these things!
I made a blue white suspend deck with Vega the watcher awhile ago. I took it apart because it would either pop off like an unstoppable beast, or do absolutely nothing. I didn't like that level of glass cannon gameplay. Which commander should i play instead if i want to focus on suspend and card draw?
Helldivers deck!!!
Friendly reminder that Jhoira MLD used to be one of the most powerful and hated decks in the earlier days of EDH
