I found it really interesting that the video Gavin made recently about Pauper had a lot of commentators basically scratching their head regarding what decks were displayed. Seems very strange.

This is why the Smogon Methodology is much better. It's really difficult to know what game pieces cause wins, but it's very easy to see what's inordinately popular. The most used cards are the ones that should be suspect tested.
I'm just one man, constantly crying out on every MTG channel, but I believe strongly: All MTG eternal formats should be restructured into a grand usage based tier system.
Smogon is genius.
I am actually a huge fan of the suspect tests. Leaving it to the community to decide and making it so voters have to be over a certain elo to vote is a great system.
Dude... love your videos. I arrived at similar conclusions collecting data for both leagues and challenges (kirblinxy we love you!) and yeah, no ones is talking about other big winrate decks but the real question is why are they not played more?
For Dimir fae the answer is a bad matchup against affinity (37%) and slight unfavored against monored with 48%, being the two most played decks in the format makes it a bold choice.
Now monoblue terror/delver I believe it's because it has some tough matches in the tier 2: Mono Blue Faeries, Dimir Fae, Dredge, Elves and Cycle Storm. All that while being only slightly favored against most other decks.

I understand your thoughts on this but I think you're putting way too much importance on 15 seconds out of a 7:30 video. While bringing these up was a little strange, I think Gavin did it to highlight that there are other viable decks, not that the listed decks were dominant in any way (although the statement that they are viable is a little questionable itself)
Love your analysis, thanks for the video. The background music is a bit too loud though, at some points in video it makes it hard to hear your voice. Accent and diction are fine, it's just that the peaks of bg music happen to have the same volume as your voice and at times it becomes too "muddy" sonically.
I kinda hate what pauper looks like ghese days. Everyone keeps saying it's fine and "the best the format has ever been", but to me it seems too homogenized. Every green deck that can splash red, splashes red for chrysalis. Many non-green decks splash for initiative. New cards all read like "do five different things with one card" and feed into each other. Like disputes leaving behind fodder for next disputes and chrysalis making next chrysalis even cheaper and whatnot. Every deck is just a pile of same cards in different ratios, fuck that
I feel like there are good points here but there's some jumps in logic or missing data to get to the final conclusions - but again there are current issues with the format, looking forward to more in the next video :)

Great video! I haven't played pauper in months because it's just plain boring. Not only there are only 4 decks, they are almost identical every time... The builds are close to optimal. Hope something changes so i can enjoy my favorite format again
Just to give an example of what you said: BG and Jund glee, alongside with juld wildfire. Three decks that are variants. It’s just ridiculous and it’s gonna get worse if PFP don’t do what they have to do.

Chrysalis gives pauper some fresh air. It's strong and makes new decks possible. We don't need more bans, we need more cards like that

Red may be rough and affinity has been rougher but the only deck I've hated playing has been glee. I don't even like banning cards.
I’ll add: I hate playing against jund decks: gardens, glee and wildfire. It’s f’ing miserable.

The top dogs of the format consist of a degenerate combo that involves a card from a new premium set, with a support card from a new premium set, both of whitch Wizards must be protecting, otherwise I can't see it not being banned; a deck that's strong, weeds out the slower part of the field, but loses to affinity, which leads me to; affinity, the disgusting petdeck of a large part of the formar

They have never said afaik. I believe they have to ask wotc for a data dump but idk

If you go on heisen's latest video (it's in italian) you'll find a comment he wrote in response to a person, this is the raw text: "In realtà si, Ma è wizards che definisce quali numeri possiamo poi mostrare" translated it means: "In reality yes, but it's wizards that decides which numbers we can show"; this comment was in response to someone asking if they had full data to consult.
My 2 cents, as we've seen last summer and with wizards actively hiding/deceiving the playerbase with manipulated data it's clear they have a lot to hide and that the situation across all formats is much worse than what it appears right now, underlined by the multiple bans in legacy/modern, which can only have come out of desperation as player count dropped massively before the december B&R.

Honestly the poison storm data is accurate, even on RUclips I can see creators doing well with the deck
The thing is mentioning a deck that it’s not even on the top 10 most played decks. It naturally might have a higher win rate because the decks are prepared to play against the most played ones. And honestly mentioning it alongside Boros synth and their win rate to justify the meta is diverse is totally unfare.

Honestly, if your solution for fixing the format, or any format for that matter, is to ban the cards or kill the deck you can't beat, is just lazy.
Banning cards all the time is not healthy. It is easier to make hate decks for the top decks. This is pauper. Stop complaining when your deck is not winning. Update it.😅
You are right, everyone should put a chrysalis in their deck in order to remain competitive, scratch that, everyone should just play jund broodscale, fuck everyone else lmao.
@Eltharyon i honestly tried this. And while play testing the deck, we found out that the broodscale combo loses to old control decks. The combo is not infallable. The problem though is the control deck's match up with the current meta. Refurbished familiar is a bane of control decks.
@@oblobear2093the problem of the format right now is not the combo It’s chrysalis. It gives the jund version a too strong plan b and the creature generates too much value. In addition with the format having few good spot removal that actually resolve chrysalis. But even killing that thing, value was generated and the 2nd, 3rd and 4th copy are easer to cast. Chrysalis alone made a bunch of decks disappear of the format.

Stopped playing pauper because in 5 leagues I play mono red 23 time's. The format is honestly just boring even when you play against non mono red decks

You have a mid-quality microphone and an accent that's difficult to understand. You can't take the chance of using music that's too loud.
If in doubt (and you should _always_ be in doubt) turn your music down. No-one is going to complain if it's too quiet, but they definitely will if it's too loud.
