Don’t be too harsh on the Garmin… the CJ Simulations also uses Garmin. But I know what you mean. Hopefully he can find a good programmer to customise the avionics.
@@MadX8 There is no such thing as a Deimos typhoon. The developer that released the first typhoon is BREDOK3D & that’s exactly who’s typhoon your speaking of and yes it is a horrible rendition of the typhoon. CJ simulations typhoon is the best fighter aircraft in existence on Xbox right now along with the F16 & F15💯
@@cgaviator Agreed!🤷♂️ people have to stop expecting every aircraft to be of DC or IndiaFoxTecho quality because many of these devs are still learning and improving over time. Deimos has come a long way since that Mig29 and this is one of my favorite delta wing fighters so I look forward to it. Cockpit avionics won’t be the best but they look pretty decent to enjoy.I’m sure with the new doors opening in the sim they will improve later with more features like FLIR & a more refined radar and map💯
As a senior I do not have the capacity to learn a complex new panel with every release, so,I welcome the Garmin panels. An option to select the original panel is easy to ask for, but I am sure very very time consuming to implement for the few who actually learn it and use it given ,all the excellent aircraft available.
After my F-16 experience from this developer I was very impressed in a negative sense. The following products were also not suitable for changing my mind. I once challenged him personally to make up his mind whether he would rather rip off unsuspecting x-box kids or whether he could still manage to become a serious developer. Apparently he's on the right track now, and I might even come back as a satisfied customer. I wish him all the best.
@@cgaviator My short review here: Basically I’m a friend of the second chance. Therefore, after the great advance notices, I decided to give this developer another try. Today I believe that he is on the right track in the right direction with the Gripen. But I’m still not satisfied. To be fair, my system isn’t exactly what you would call a powerhouse these days. But it allows me to smoothly move fast military jets close to the ground with over 30 FPS. The smoothest jets I own are the Asobo F-18 and L-39. With this I manage 40-45 FPS over the Innsbruck scenery from ORBX. Most third party jets cost me around 5-10 FPS, but even when they drop below 30 they remain smooth. Here it is completely different. My framerate crashes down to 15 FPS and even if it stays above 30 FPS it’s a total stutterfest. It may not show up that way on high-end systems. But here it is. I think that this thing needs to be improved, otherwise I have to ask how this is ever going to run on the X-Box. I hope he can do it. Actually too unfortunate.
@@cgaviator Of course take your time mate. I do enjoy your reviews a lot though, just so you know. Looking forward to a Viper Review on MSFS as I feel like someone with your knowledge would have a lot to say about it. Whenever you can make it happen of course, no rush! Take care!
I just bought this on the strength of this review. What put me off buying this before was the rather low quality of their other aircraft (although they are appropriately low priced). I hope some more work goes into those other aircraft and I look forward to flying this later today. Cheers!
Great looking jet (yes, I'm Swedish). The model and textures are incredible. Having the engine nozzle move with the level of thrust would be the icing on the cake. I personally don't mind the Garmin screen. I couldn't really see the canards during high alfa, were they moving correctly?
They were moving how I’d expect them to move! But having discussed foreplanes on the typhoon video, opinion is split 50:50! I’ll ask about the nozzles, that is a good point!
Having looked at videos, it doesn’t appear that the nozzles animate from the outside. Do you have any references as Deimos can animate them as required but hasn’t got the info. Thanks
I love the gripen in real life, it's a fun display to watch and the short take off/landing is appealing. Screens are a bit dissapointing, would it take that much to reskin those? For me it would need to be a cheapy one, £15 maybe for it to be worth a laugh.
@@cgaviator maybe you're right, although that is quite a big thing. It changes it from a serious one, to a bit of fun in my book, so it would need to be priced as a bit of fun I think. Praps itll be in a sale at some point.
Came back to have another look at this aircraft and one of my favourite areas of Scotland. A thought came to mind, now that Sweden is supposed to be joining NATO, would it not be great if UK could re-arm and maybe make the Gripen under licence, re build our aircraft industry, our Pilot strength, and a lot of other benefits.....oh well one can dream....Dear Santa can we have .....lol
I don't mind the garmin, it match the aircraft, but I will love to have the real ball compat type hud you have on the real thing, it is present in the DCS gripen mod
Not bad for an RAF pilot ! Not bad at all ! But Chris, no tail strike on rotate ? What you call "run in and break" we used to call "Initial and pitch" or in the case of a low run in as you demonstrated, a "fan pitch".
Lol, thanks! Going via initial, certainly. Pitch, I don’t use so much. Closed pull up is another version I use often. I’ve done a fan break before. 4 aircraft break at the same time with varying G to allow separation
@@cgaviator No, I’m a real 737 pilot for a major Australian airline. I started in the RAAF. I always thought Speed Bird was the best airline call sign in the world.
Nice Chris, be a great aircraft with the few issues sorted. To be honest I consider myself to be a bit of a purist and only ever fly from inside the cockpit. I do pop out for an occasional view / screenshot or of course if I am watching a replay but for me immersion is broken if I am jumping in and out all the time. This is discussion I have all the time with my 17 year old stepson. I guess in my mind flying outside view is making it like a game and inside more accurate flying experience. But each to their own 😎👍 as far as reviewing aircraft goes then really, to give the full picture you've got to jump in and out 👍
@@yoshimiitsubdo2358 well, it’s fair enough if the real one doesn’t. But if you wanted to use this on a carrier regardless, and you play on PC, the kinetic assistant app will make it work with carriers 👍🏻
So does this physics and controls feel like Over G Fighters or something? If anybody has played that you’d know what I mean As it’s Not in a good smooth way
😌🤷♂️I’m sure it definitely will considering we just got a high fidelity typhoon that I know for a fact nothing is touching right now and every other aircraft Deimos has made came directly to Xbox no problem.
How do you get such realistic head movement are you on VR? And if not is this available on XBOX? And one more question how do you get unreleased aircraft?
Head movement is using TrackIR, I’m not sure if it or anything like it works on Xbox. As a content creator, developers sometimes send me prerelease copies to demo
@@FlyingNuggetGaming sadly my sporadic availability means I can’t commit to times, and that was when I had time! 😅 I have a plan, I think, so maybe in the medium term future 👍🏻
The Griffin looks stunning but the big let down is the Garmin screens. The typhoon got a big update fairly recently with great flight dynamics and sounds. If I had to pick, it would be the typhoon 👍🏻
@@cgaviator Avionics are Asobo's Stock Garmin G1000s, outside and inside textures seem a little pixely, and looks to be lacking interior functions. Also by my part previous experiences with other products by the same developer weren't great at all, but it's just an opinion. After all I will need to check the plane out, it may turn out better than what I'm expecting.
@@cgaviatorI hope I'm wrong, honestly. But for now I'll wait to see it with my own eyes when it's released in the store. Anyway, best regards from a fellow sim pilot from Barcelona!
OK so after hesitating for a while, I finally bought it (thanks to your video). To be honest I didn't want to buy anything from Deimos ever again but... It's actually a very decent jet! Modelling and texturing are absolutely Top Notch (It's really impressive) and the flight model, while could use some work, is not bad. It's much better than expected and i understand now why you were so surprised about it. That said, there are a couple of bugs that need to be fixed and i won't change my mind about the Garmin... Everything about this jet feels special and polished (sound package included), but putting so much effort on everything and not taking the time to code avionics (easier said than done i know) is disappointing. I agree though that it doesn't look "that bad" because it's well integrated, but still, it kills the immersion and makes you feel like you're flying a toy more than a fighter. Really, Deimos has to work on that because on everything else, this is a very good surprise. About performance, on XBOX Series X the synthetic vision doesn't affect my framerate at all. Surprisingly, despite the very high quality textures the jet doesn't affect my framerate, which is a nice surprise. I guess the lack of complex avionics is a good thing, at least for that. So yeah, it looks better than other jets and it's even framerate friendly. Now, bugs have to be fixed, flight model has to be improved and avionics need work. If Deimos doesn't mess up and doesn't abandon the jet after a couple of weeks, this could be something very special.
@@cgaviator Definitely yes! Thank you for your reviews, they are always interesting and it definitely gave me a second thought about the Griffin/Gripen. I would have skipped it otherwise. On a side note (sorry to bother you again with that), whenever you'll have time for it, you might enjoy the Viper. The sound package is outstanding (definitely Tomcat level). I swear i'm not working for DC/SC Designs haha... Just love the bird and how it feels and sounds, even though it doesn't have the same quality texture wise (The gripen will be hard to beat on that). Have a nice day and take care
Looks like an awesome aircraft - what a pleasant surprise. I actually quite like the big Garmin screens, I think they work well & facilitate easy flight planning from within the cockpit - a huge plus for me. Couple of questions - what’s the anticipated release date, and what’s your take on cockpit texturing? It looks a little 2D to me but could be because I’m watching your awesome videos on my phone (small screen). Thanks mate! Ps - I’m all for cockpit flying, I’ve my PPL in real life so none of this external nonsense :)
So long as they fix the Garmin bugs it’ll be an excellent tool and like you say, the screens kinda work nicely. The cockpit is nicely 3D. Not perfect, but definitely nice
@@ArrRoh fselite or msaddons are 2 media outlets that will likely provide news of the release. I’ll probably post something when I hear. That said, I think there is a discord somewhere
Please tell me the elevon has not been completely negative on takeoff XD like at 9:12 And the elevons are working correctly…the new Eurofighter does that perfectly even though the canards are still a bit off… but this Gripen seems to have similar problems like the f117 (which moves its ailerons instead of the V for elevator input)
To be honest I didn’t notice it and I’m not sure of the control logic the Gripen uses. The Typhoon uses both foreplanes and flaperons to pitch and roll.
@@cgaviator typhoon does not have flaperons…it has elevons… (they are elevator and ailerons) just like gripen and every other deltawing plane. They don’t have flaps or flaperons.
@@cgaviator yeah I know..I am an aircraft technician, my time on the EF is long ago, nowadays I work on helicopters… i explain the difference… Eurofighter has so calles Elevons or taileron, because they operate as Elevator and Aileron, the cannot operate as flaps, cause if the would go negative, the would force the nose down just like as if you give the stick full forward. On many transport planes you have Flaperons. The act as flaps, and as aileron, when used as flaps both of them go down, and when given left or right stick, one of the flaps goes up, to make assist the rolling motion. And the opposite of a flaperon would be a Spoileron. Like you see on an F-14 for example…when you put left or right stick the Elevons move, and one of the spoilers on the upper side of the main wing assists too.
I strongly recommend staying away from this Deimos Sukhoi plane and others that have been released. As many here know, their stuff is really bad and their latest plane (Viper) had to be removed from all stores because they plagiarized DC Designs' code and had to put up with JustFlight. I can't understand why they are still a Microsoft partner. These people are the worst.
@@cgaviator yes so when I pull a high g turn at anywhere above 600knts and roll out it continues turning/ pulling up for a few seconds after Ive levelled it out… its like im still pushing back on the stick when I’m not, at lower speeds it’s fine but I’ve also noticed another glitch where if I turn with the afterburners it rapidly accelerates to over 950knts even when i take the afterburners off
@@cgaviator at slower speeds it doesn’t do it but that means I cannot use the afterburners any faster than 600knts when I turn or the glitch comes back it also tries to slowly roll upside down on its own I have to keep centering it, I’d love for them to fix it and fast because I just payed £24.99 for it and wasn’t aware of any glitches untill I flew it myself 😆
@@Supercar_TV in all fairness, 600kt is faster than a real pilot would turn and burn with it. Typically rate fighting would be, wildly guessing, closer to 420kt indicated. But you’d still expect to be able to let off the g instantly.
This is not a $25 effort but looking at the comments people will buy it anyway. Slap a G3000 and a modified default flight model on a 3D model made by someone else, pirated in at least one case, then offer it on sale at a ridiculous price so kids on Xbox see it first on the front page - the Deimos way…😂
A lot of developers don’t always have in-house modellers. A lot of them are essentially freelance. Where you draw the line on buying in a model and modifying it for sim use is a debate. I understand the hesitance given past indiscretions, but I hope this is a new era for Deimos.
I like the "Peace / War" switch. If only people knew that you could just flip the switch back to "Peace" and all these conflicts would go away.
Yes, it’s nice to know there are 2 options. But sadly both sides have to switch to Peace
Unfortunately peace is not profitable, war brings a lot of money 💰 😢
But I don't see any missiles when I switch it to war

Deimos is really making good progress at each plane(hello and good bye Bredock3D ), day one for me
Agreed. If they can get their afterburner effects up to snuff with DC Designs' stuff, I'd be even more in love.
I had high hopes for this one, and it does look great from outside and I'm sure it feels great as you say, but the civilian Garmin screens just don't do it for me, I expect more than that from payware. I hadn't looked into the Eurofighter Typhoon much before but I will consider it in place of this. Also as far as your question of inside view vs. outside view, I look outside for maybe 5 seconds on average for every minute I'm inside.
@@MadX8 For sure, Typhoon was a dirty word until CJ did their version. I've been very happy with DC's Concorde and Tomcat which CJ also helped on.
Glad to hear, onwards and upwards!
@@cgaviator My short review here:
Basically I’m a friend of the second chance.
@@reddebarone477 Did you turn off Synthetic Vision on the PFD?

Chris, I love your videos, great content, the problem I have is this....I usually end up spending money !! 😝
One of the reasons I started this channel, as I have most of the models! 😂
I just bought this on the strength of this review. What put me off buying this before was the rather low quality of their other aircraft (although they are appropriately low priced). I hope some more work goes into those other aircraft and I look forward to flying this later today. Cheers!
Hope you enjoy, I was very pleasantly surprised by it! Hope he finds an avionics guy to take the Garmin out and out custom screens in 👍🏻
Great looking jet (yes, I'm Swedish).
Thanks
The "Griffin" uses a modified General Electric F404 engine. So I would expect the nozzles to move similar to the 414 version in the Super Hornet.
@@swedishbones8937 if you can find a video demonstrating that he will likely make it work 👍🏻
Loves the video!
Thanks! Credit to the developer, he did well with this one
Hopefully the price will reflect the level of detail and quality
The detail and quality are very good, bar the use of Garmin in a military jet. I believe the price tag will be $10 less than the Typhoon
Its a definite buy, when released on xbox! Love to see the Viggen aswell
Viggen would be cool. Would love to see someone like Sim Skunk Works take that on!
I love the gripen in real life, it's a fun display to watch and the short take off/landing is appealing. Screens are a bit dissapointing, would it take that much to reskin those? For me it would need to be a cheapy one, £15 maybe for it to be worth a laugh.
I figured it was fair too take 30% off for the avionics when compared to the CJ Typhoon but everyone has their price
@@cgaviator maybe you're right, although that is quite a big thing. It changes it from a serious one, to a bit of fun in my book, so it would need to be priced as a bit of fun I think. Praps itll be in a sale at some point.
Yeah the garmin kills it for me too.
Never seen flap, no wings flaps. Yes starboard canard foreplane and wings to gripen JAS-39C/D/E/F

Oh yes please!
I don't mind the garmin, it match the aircraft, but I will love to have the real ball compat type hud you have on the real thing, it is present in the DCS gripen mod

Deimos and what we are used to, not a big surprise tbh. We'll have to wait some time for a better rendition of the Grippen, sadly.
Better how? Avionics perhaps? Visually this would very hard to beat. Opinion of course
@@victorgc_ it may be my video editing, but the textures rival most other developers 👍🏻
All absolutely agreed! And thanks for taking the time to feedback. Let’s hope it continues to get improvements!

Please tell me the elevon has not been completely negative on takeoff XD like at 9:12
And the elevons are working correctly…the new Eurofighter does that perfectly even though the canards are still a bit off… but this Gripen seems to have similar problems like the f117 (which moves its ailerons instead of the V for elevator input)
@@joe666b sorry, I’ve heard typhoon pilots refer to them as flaperons. Either way, both ends of the jet control pitch 👍🏻
@@cgaviator yeah I know..I am an aircraft technician, my time on the EF is long ago, nowadays I work on helicopters…
i explain the difference… Eurofighter has so calles Elevons or taileron, because they operate as Elevator and Aileron, the cannot operate as flaps, cause if the would go negative, the would force the nose down just like as if you give the stick full forward.
