The good thing with birds is that if there's just the one, it'll be way better at avoiding you than you trying to avoid it. I hit an eagle once as I tried to avoid it. In less than a second we both jinked the same way three times until he went through the prop and became eagle mince down the side of the plane. Lucky for me, despite those MT props being basically balsa covered in carbon, it held together. One guy I knew hit a big bird with the leading edge of a Laser 200. Made a mess of the wing. He got it down and they found the beak wedged in the main spar.

Great job Tim. This is the video I've been waiting for. You're spot on with the flight model, it's not quite there but that's mostly due to MSFS's limitations. Very nice Tim, I found a flight plan for the lower Mach loop, from Barmouth to Mach, then up the valley and down over the reservoir to Pen-y-bont, one of my favourite areas for the FI Spitfire Mk IX. If youwant to improve this area of North Wales in the sim, I can recommend downloading Skell300 and Superspuds RAF Valley. It is one of the top tier add ons. Skell has also modelled Llanbedr and Caernarfon airfields.
I've not flown professionally, but this brought back a good memory for me. The valley coming north west along the A5, Llyn Ogwen towards Bethesda... one day, there I was on my sports bike enjoying the road, when I look left and there's a SeaKing lad. I swear the guy in the right seat saluted while I looked, but I could be making that up. Anyway, I hit the gas hard, and the SeaKing cheated because he doesn't need to go around corners on the road. As he disappeared in front of me, there was a bank left/right/left/right as though the pilot was waving goodbye. Loved it.
Flew the loop in the Seneca at Virtual Fight Experience in very marginal visual reference, being live with the weather that was terrible in February, but still kept in the bottom of the valley and recovered to Caernavon on IFR, my first and a manic sideslip landing half way down the the runway with a 18 knot wind up my arse after breaking cloud at 1000ft over the threshold of the runway and stopped right on the taxiway exit. Was well pleased with myself.

This looks amazing. No one better to test this than yourself. I can remember the flight simulator on the Krypton Factor. In the later episodes they had a Hawk simulator. We’ve got better graphics at home now. Great video.
18:09 Hey Tim. Late with my comments for this video. My first 36 hours of flying was in Casper, Wyoming. "Request Flight Following" is equivalent to our (UK) VFR in Class C or D airspace which offers traffic advisories and weather threats ahead - so it's like "Basic service" where you are in charge of avoiding collision with other aircraft but ATC will give you essential information. Since MSFS is US, their ATC for the UK uses incorrect terminology. For the UK, it's best to use XPLANE combined with VATSIM. VATSIM ATC have to pass an exam and most of the ATC operators are actual ATC.
Glad you found the elevator trim heavy and also the power seriously bad in landing configuration. I may contact the company and point them to this video as the product is quite horrible to fly at times.
Is RAF Pen Rhos on the flightpath down to the Mach loop. We are there a lot and the trainers come past at very low level, it's great. We even had a Spitfire one day.
Wow FS is so stunning now Tim.....last time I used it was in the FS2002.....and I thought that was the dogs bollocks. Scares me to think what spec of PC would be needed for this version of FS. Sharing this vid to my Daughter Jayne.....she loves the fast Jets.....stopped with her VW camper at the camp site at the end of the runway just on the edge of Rhos town....she told me she saw you guys waving....would that be true. My PPL lapsed 6 years ago.....I do miss it....Microlights for me.
If you are wanting to buy flight sim, I would wait for MSFS2024, they just released the release date of 19th November. Go and watch the new trailer, hard to imagine they could improve on 2020, but they pulled it off, 2024 looks amazing!
PC does need to be fairly beefy if you want it to run well at reasonable settings, CPU is still slightly more important than GPU though even with the better graphics. (unlike games where normally it’s GPU that’s more important by a good margin) In FS2024 they are moving the flight model code to a different CPU core which is supposed to help take the pressure off the CPU but we will have to see how that works out. AMD’S X3D CPU’s are the way to go as Flight Simulator really loves the extra cache on those chips.
Great video. I think you can get rid of the blue highlights in the options - possibly accessibility options. If I get the chance to check I'll post back here to confirm.

Hands down the best MSFS video I have seen. Nice.
Love you and I LOVE the Richard the First flag!
Tornado in MSFS next please!!!
Excellent vid Tim!
Also yes, when I was at valley (i don't live too far away, 40 miles) the pilots do sometimes wave back at you during short finals.
PC does need to be fairly beefy if you want it to run well at reasonable settings, CPU is still slightly more important than GPU though even with the better graphics. (unlike games where normally it’s GPU that’s more important by a good margin)
In FS2024 they are moving the flight model code to a different CPU core which is supposed to help take the pressure off the CPU but we will have to see how that works out. AMD’S X3D CPU’s are the way to go as Flight Simulator really loves the extra cache on those chips.
Great video. I think you can get rid of the blue highlights in the options - possibly accessibility options. If I get the chance to check I'll post back here to confirm.
Lovely now straight to the bar …………for an orange juice .! 😊
Never worked on the Valley simulators, but had a great time installing, fixing and running the T165 simulators. Full dome visual with 4k laser projectors. Happy days😊
That was ace!
I like these valley vids you do. I reckon you should buy the tornado.
Didn't realise it had Valley and just how much detail there is in the game. Live 10 mins away from Valley and, funnily enough, was going to go to Bala today because daughter wanted to look at a horse. Think she's not bothering now, thankfully. Other daughter lived in RAF Valley for a couple of years. Cousin worked at the shop there.
That was extremely cool. Thank you for that.
Interesting to see how you fast movers entered and exited the loop. I flew it a lot in the MC-130 and we would always come in and exit on the coastal side.
Impressive knowledge
Mate got an award for bending the chassis and scratching the paint . . Wow ! A valuable lesson for British car insurance companies.
Laughed all the way through the video great commentary
Do you know cgaviator from your time in the RAF? He's also an ex hawk pilot producing similar MSFS fast jet content.
Great videos, thanks for keeping things real from a UK point of view. Long time viewer and listener to your old audio podcast.
I think he's called Chris but I don't know his surname.
