    In 20 years of flight sims I've never took the effort to learn the academic side of flying so this will help me make a start as ive only ever flown vfr.

      This is certainly the practical version and still fits well within your VFR preference! 😉

      I get lazy with the comms in the sim though I may start dabbling in multiplayer. Tacan and VORs really help and are satisfying to use alongside a decent map.

    This was brilliant. Thoroughly enjoyed it! Really admire the clarity, professionalism and precision! The quality of videos you're producing is outstanding. Since getting the T1 Hawk in MFSF the possibilities to create these missions are really exciting and opens up a whole new flightsim experience compared from the GA and tubes..

      How to pick a target would be the subject of an hour to 2 hour video! 😅 I used the 1:50k OSI map and chose a target building that was big, sounded by large features and was near my intended route. All my maps are from Memory Map.

    You guys that are capable of good low level flying should put together a challenge pack of flights like the topgun challenges. "Hey, here's a great flight" and then plop just a little competition on top. This would be a great time trial, especially in a Hawk or similar. Maybe the tools are coming to the sdk?

    How exactly do you determine your height above the ground in the Hawk with out a radar altimeter? Just pure eyeball? Or is the goal to just stay below the ridge line in the valley you're flying through? Excellent flying, really enjoyed both videos.

    • @cgaviator
      @cgaviator  4 месяца назад +1

      Thanks, appreciate it! And yes, eyeballs! We train via a fly through of an airfield with QFE set and 250ft (maybe slightly lower due to compressibility at high speed). And usually sheep don’t have legs at 500ft but do at 250! You can also fly level with obstacles that have 250ft elevation. Some techniques but it soon becomes natural. Come to think of it, was it sheep or cows…!? 😂

    Hi there, would it be possible to get the waypoint times for flying this sortie at 500kts?

    • @cgaviator
      @cgaviator  Год назад +1

      Sadly it’s alot of effort to produce the maps/times. If I had an AMPA terminal it would take seconds. Also tricky for 500kt as it’s 8.3 miles per minute so the math is harder

  • @dannysoogens

    Any tips for landing the hawk? I keep spin stalling her on final trying to maintain speed around 120-130. If I manage to touch town its most of the time rough.

    • @cgaviator
      @cgaviator  2 года назад +1

      Absolutely. There are links on my website for the FRCs, they’ll give you the proper speeds around final. The final turn should be 150kt (160kt if threshold speed calculated above 120kt or you have stores on). No lower than 140kt by roll out. Then reduced it to threshold speed by threshold. Must be on a 2.5-3° glidepath. Idle over threshold and a small check for the flare.
