Do you guys just pull the steering module down and snap the clips or do you have a way to access them to release them?
Clips from the underside. What other cars are you working on?
@@GremcoGarage I always struggle getting the clips out and tend to always end up snapping one..
Work on all sorts of vehicles but get a few of these, although I use a right angle drill to drill security bolts off which works very well for us
If you pushing on the plug, then hit the release button, then pulled apart
Right angle drill seems pretty useful I might try it myself
There’s one major problem you omitted in your video!!! You can’t turn the key to line up the dots to remove the lock cylinder without partially drilling out the steel plug in the housing and removing the small spring. Only then can you turn the key far enough to line up dots to remove lock cylinder and transfer it to new housing so you don’t need to mess with programming a new key at the dealer. You mentioned in the beginning that you could not turn the key so you wouldn’t have been able to remove the lock cylinder as it took you half the video to do that which would be impossible. Also once you drill housing and remove little spring you could probably just reinstall the old housing and it would work. Drilling out and easy outing the security bolts seemed easier to me than banging around with a punch blindly! Also helps to use your phone as a mirror and for pictures of stuff you can’t see with your eyes. Good luck, this is not easy!!!
Good video. Do you know how to get access to the trans vehicle speed sensor on a 13 passat tdi?
It’s part of the MeccaTronics. It’s not serviceable. Do you have a fault code?
yes. P0502 -signal too low - intermittent
I would check the barrel connector going into the Mechatonic ( transmission ) for corrosion or fluid migration . Do you have any abs faults ?
Thanks I'll check the connector and yes there are also abs faults. Oddly the speedometer will go out on cold starts and come back on once the car is warm
Fix the abs faults first because that’s where the speedometer gets it’s info
