Terve! Anopilla vuoden 2005 Corolla. Ideoita?
Theres a chip in yr key which corresponds to yr transponder immobiliser, so on all these videos on youtube people ommit to saying anything about reprogramming the ECU so it will work with different key and ignition assembly. Toyota have been like this for over 30 yrs now.
I'm having same problem. Wheel locked and won't turn to Acc at all. I pull that white plastic cylinder out and it'll start but steering wheel still locked.
OK I changed the key cylinder because car would not start. Then I discovered the back wire assembly was out, the screw had come out. Put everything back together back but the steering wheel would lock on acc, on and would be free or unlocked on LOCK. It starts but can't drive it. I just ordered cable/wire part and see if that fixes it. I did try the old cylinder lock and the same thing. If the new wires work, great. But if it doesn't. How can I disable the steering wheel locking mechanism? Hmm I see what might had happened. That back part that looks blue in the video might have switch side. I'll tell you what happens, or grind away those teeth or put a drill bit across when unlocked. It was supposed to be so easy.
im having the exact same problem, i replaced the lock cylinder and managed to get it to start but the wheel locks on every key position and unlocks when i turn it back to LOCK. Let me know if you managed to fix it and if you did how or what you did?
@@DanielSanchez-fv5ib Well I have a 1990 Toyota Corolla that is very reliable that I use for Door Dash. 3:20 this guy is showing us how it works. So I went to Home Depot and got me a metal hand saw and starting hacking at it. I was planning to go all the way thru but only took going half way to disable the locking mechanism and Walla! I think you will see small wheel bearing come out. If you have a nice newer car you might not want to do that and do it right. But for my old beater... Still going.
@@DanielSanchez-fv5ib I have the same issue. Car wouldn't start. Took out the locking cylinder. Then realized that I needed a new ignition switch. Put lock cylinder back in the now the steering wheel only locks up when I start the truck. I have to turn the wheel to the right and turn the key back to Lock to free it up. What happened with your situation?
@@PeterFinnTheCarDoctor fwiw I did manage to get mine back together. I guess your video helped a very tiny bit. I was replacing the switch on the back of the lock cylinder, and I guess my mistake was taking out the key cylinder. Long story short the lock didn’t work so I had to figure out how to get it back together. Basically I pushed the locking mechanism down and then held it down further with a tiny screwdriver held against the side of it in the little gap that exists. Anyhow....
Thanks so much for this clip, great video and awesome pictures, very clear and will help me a great deal in repairing my faulty steering lock.
Great to hear!
After cutting the locking cylinder arm, will the steering wheel be free to turn?
Thanks 👍
Why1 didn't you check the steering after making that cut. Will it turn?
I have read your post! Good comment. Continue in the same way.👍😀
Awesome video.
Thanks!

Welcome!

Noted 👍

is it possible to remove the lock pin so I can drive my car without a key with a remote start?
Yes

At the bottom of the barrel there is a small little tab on a spring that operates the steering wheel lock
Good point, Thanks Sir 👍

That accomplished absolutely nothing.
