Pardon me, but I love you! I have been stumped for months on how to do this exact same set up for another purpose. I couldn’t wait to write this, so I need to finish watching the vid. I also will be eager to watch the puzzle guy on RUclips. Thank you, thank you!
Just want to say thanks for a Super Professional and super easy to follow video. I did notknow how they switched and that answered my question. make a scene 1 first, then source camera. maybe now i can get streaming to youtube
cool setup, I've learnt something! just goes to show you dont need alot of expensive gear to get up and running... as the channel grows then start investing in better gear. Thanks!
@@LonSeidman Is there actually a device like that? A foot switch or pedal-like that interacts with the broadcast software? That will be great. I'd like to know please.
Anthony Balogun You could use midi foot pedals with keyboard maestro to trigger scene switching commands within OBS, if OBS doesn’t recognise midi controllers naturally (haven’t started using it yet!), have a look on Thomann, even something like a Bluetooth page turning pedal could do the job wirelessly I’d reckon
I can’t believe that’s not an option in the software.just for the cameras to show a 3 to 5 second clip if you wanted with a 3camera +setup.i am surprised at that
Well, as someone who already knew most of the info in this video, I really enjoyed it! Plus, it will be very easy to direct people that ask me how do I do my stream to this very nice tutorial. Thanks for the video Lon ! Also, kudos to Mark, he seems talented in his craft too :)
Great video. What do you recommend if I want to take 3 DSLR HDMI inputs along with an audio mixer input. Is there a switcher setup or multiple input setup for OBS? Example: 3 camera live stream of a music artist.
Add a noise filter to the sound source to, at least, dampen the sound of the saw. Knowing from experience at how effective it is in getting rid of the sound of a direct drive bicycle trainer and two fans blowing I think it would be a sweet touch for Mark.
You can also use OBS Camera available in the Apple App store. The app is free, works great and I use it all the time with no issues. We have used the NDI solution across and entire enterprise for large events. We have used it to capture and distribute video and audio.
Thanks for this video! I understood a lot better, not just about multicamera setting, but also about OBS configurations. It was a big WAO! seen how you did it in a very logic and functional way. There was a couple of technical details about OBS that I already saw from other tutorial chanels, but I was not sure how to really take advantage of it. 👍👍👍👏❗️🤗
To aid in switching maybe some kind of foot pedal that could click or select from the 4 options would make it seemless very close to what Lon does with his table top switch selector
Amazing! We're looking into ways to broadcast HEMA tournaments in a low budget manner to allow multicam setup using smartphones we already have to cover fights, commentating team, etc. This is a great find. Ive had difficulty finding a way to wirelessly use multiple smartphones as video sources with OBS.
This was great! Learned something new today, though I won't be livestreaming anytime soon, this was something worth learning and knowing about. Great job guys! I'd definitely want to see a follow-up in the future 👍
Thanks for the videos. I have an Atem Mini, and running into a problem with OBS. How do I get around the 30min record limit on my Canon m50, while using the Atem Mini? I run 4 of them, and they look great on screen, but once you hit that 30 min, they shut off, regardless of if we are recording.? ( if I hook them up to OBS without the Mini , it works, but I can only run one camera per computer, because OBS won't recognize more than one camera using EOS Webcam utility)
Can you show more about sources and scenes: 1 showing a reference photo with one camera view and another scene for camera showing work process. I paint and want one camera on my palette (showing reference photo) and another camera for my easel, then on on me. I’m looking forward to viewing more videos and viewing Marks site!
So, do you have to manually switch between cameras? Is there no way to create individual recordings with individual files to be able to arrange in post editing?
If you use android phones you will not be able to use the newtech ndi plugin. There is an app called ip webcam that works well. You can control which camera you use on the phone using your browser as an access point. With the right light the Logitech 920 is still an awesome webcam. Adding your phone adds some great hd. Nice video, Lon.
Also note, if you have a tablet you can add an OBS controler from the app store to easily control switching scenes in OBS without having to reach for the computer. Another thought is to by a descent burner phone to use, which, in most cases, you can get cheaper than a webcam.
Great Video, I have a question for you. I race cars and I want to record or live stream my race. I will need to have multiple camera points on the track. How can I do this on the cheap
this answered a lot of questions for me. BUT, one I had left... I am an artist and my computer is older as my $$ are spent for paint and canvases.... I use windows 10 and I did set up (MYSELF!!) a mesh for my boost of WIFI, but my issues are... one of my cameras is getting a glitching and switch from camera to camera does not always work... if I am using an older computer (7 years old) would that seem to be my issue... my computer cannot take all this wonderful new technology? I hope I have clarified my question well enough.
Are there NDI support for using a Android device? Did a quick search and it seems as if Newtek is no longer supporting Android devices... Any other Android app that supports NDI?
They used to have an app but as you noted it’s gone.. they recently switched to the compressed hx ndi protocol and I suspect they’ll release an Android app soon.
What about a similar setup but only using webcam/cell phones. I mean can I connect the cell phones (android) via USB? Do I need extra software for that?
I added 2 1080p cameras to OBS, it freezes either 1 or both cameras after a few minutes, I have to unplug/plug to reestablish the video. I have an i7 16gb ram gtx1660 , I would think it should handle it. Any ideas?
Great video. I am another person trying to make this work with the camera in an android smartphone (no luck so far.). I had been looking at ATEM mini and Vmix, but I will take a look at OBS.
Hello, First of all thank you for the quality of your presentation video. My question is for a small business launching live video streaming business what video equipment and sound advise me not too expensive? The idea will be to film in multicams either outdoors (animations) or indoors (conferences, meetings ...). Thank you in advance for your return ...
I have a question. If you are streaming your live multicam to several sources, lets say a facebook group, a youtube channel, maybe a twich...how do you handle the comments so you can see live comments from one or all of those sources so you can respond to questions from live viewers? In particular, if you are using your computer for recording and phone as a camera, where do you see the comments?
That's the tricky part. My Vmix software handles that for me but there are other solutions out there too. Restream.io does that as part of their multicasting streaming service too.
I do understand that 5g has a bandwidth boost when unimpeded, but if you are going to use 5g, you are going to want to at least make sure there are no objects, water or walls in between your phone and the router as 5g object penetration is very poor. Another way you could reduce the impact of objects on the quality of the signal is to setup wireless relays, but that will also introduce higher latencies on the network so way the cons and pros. 2.4ghz, while it has a reduced total bandwidth, is much better at being able to penetrate objects unimpeded in turn being much more reliable in that aspect, but the obvious con with 2.4g is more along the lines of interference, due to the lack of channels available on that frequency band.
That ndi camera will work great with those iPhones provided the Wifi conditions are decent. Probably not so much on older iPhones without AC WiFi compatibility. Hopefully NewTek releases an Android version of their new app.
It looks like his puzzle workflow is really fast-paced and doesn't lend itself to reaching up and manually switching cameras all the time. Why not record all three streams then do a "live" cut later?
@15mins.. it just became to complicated. I love why, but, yeah. I checked out. I just wanted a simple 4 camera setup. BUT, you made that difficult, and u keep referring to "OBS?" what is that?>
Not gonna lie it was pretty adorable how mark looked super happy when his setup was done
Thanks very much for great introduction to OBS in such a short time and using a practical example. This is typical on LonTV 🙏👍

Camo Studio works very well with iPhones as well. It connects directly to your computer by the lightning cable so there's no lag whatsoever.
Great intro to OBS! Very informative for new users
Update: The NDI Camera app now outputs 1080p at the middle setting and there is an Android version now too in the Google Play store.
do you have an Android alternative?
Can you assigned the scene to a controller key if he had PTZ controller?

Such a great video. I learned alot by watching you explain the process. Great teacher. I appreciate the info and content!
The Logitech C920 is old, but it seriously holds up, and the video quality even in 2020 is superb for that particular webcam.
Nice setup
an idea for him, get a set of foot pedals from a wheel/joystick set, and use that to switch scenes while working with both hands.
Amazing, I didn't think this kind of video could be done for so little. I also didn't know puzzles were a thing.
Great step-by-step video. Very well done!

One thing I'd love to know, what if you had a laptop with a built in webcam, is there an App to use that as an NDI source?
Yes the ndi scan converter app will do that!
Great video! Would love to see a follow up.
Can you connect multiple wireless cameras to OBS?
NDI cameras? Yes
Is there no way you can set the software to toggle between cameras for 3 to 5 seconds each etc??? I thought you would have a setting to do that??

Depending on your computer hardware yes
@@LonSeidman ummm elaborate more please cuz my final step is the laptop
Can you simply capture the stream for later broadcast or upload to youtube without having to conduct a live stream?
Yes OBS has a recording feature - so you can record only, or record and stream.

Not on Android unfortunately..
Great content. Questions though:
I'm on a budget so...
1. Can this be made as a wifi free (non wifi) setup?
The idea is to be able to record and send the video in realtime .

EpocCam is better than NDI and you can run it straight with USB connection, plus it only cost $7.99 and can give you 1080p.
