It’s interesting how no one besides Cloud considers Zack might be dead.
It’s like Zack is so beloved, everyone just keeps holding onto hope that he’s out there somewhere.
you... dont just assume someone is dead just because you don't see them around... that's just normal.

@fadlanfadilah1171 It’s usually safe to assume someone in his line of work has died after zero contact for several years, especially if they used to write as frequently as Zack did. And it’s usually something someone who isn’t close (or at least Cloud doesn’t know they are at this time) would assume. But loved ones wouldn’t immediately jump to that conclusion because they hold out hope that they’re still alive despite the very obvious signs they are not.

Cissnei respected Zack so much as her friend, she quit her career as a Turk and looked after his own village never knowing what happened to him. He really was a huge influence on everyone he knew.

@morfometa Its a reference to the original game. In it Aerith is flat out in denial that she's important to Zack as she's in denial of the fact that he's dead so she insists that Zack has to have had another girlfriend because otherwise she'd hand to second guess his disappearance.

It's probably in Crisis Core: she's lying to Tseng for letting Zack escaping alongside comatose Cloud (Cloud in Mako Poisoning). As a result, Cissnei (possibly) kicked from Turks or she's feel sad Zack as she's like is death (Zack have own "Fan Club" consisting Cissnei & Aerith)

To be fair Zack would have never beaten Sephiroth even if things went his way. Zack was always WAY weaker than Sephiroth. Sephiroth basically played with Zack, Angeal and genesis as if they were puppets. So I think cloud was always stronger in the sense that he had much more potential than Zack or the other 2. So I don’t think he was the main hero just because of Zack. I love Zack though, but yeah I don’t think he would have ever beaten Sephiroth because he never could even in a sparring match and Zack basically was never the main character.
He doesn't even know who Zack is at this point, and remember that Cloud saved Zack first. We will se this scene in part 3 when Cloud saves Tifa and Zack from Sephiroth in Nibelheim.

This scene make me more sympathy about Zack. He died when Aerith does not know he truly loves her, He died when his parent still waiting for him to return and now his spirit trapped in a realm where he think he is still alive, I don't know what his reaction when he finally know he is already dead.

He's not technically unaware that he's dead in this realm. Because this is Nomura we're talking about, that Zack that you knew was from different timeline so it's even uglier to think about it. Zack came back from the planet and is aware that he has finally died judging from how he is supportive with Cloud in Advent Children and this is the original timeline that we all knew. In this timeline, all Zack knew was that he lived through it and is quite unaware of what is happening.
+ He died for Cloud that forgets him and is even calling him a loser. Bruh. Zack can't win in life huh

I really hope after all of this Cloud is shown visiting Zacks folks to tell them how amazing of a man he was .

All the Turks from Before Crisis are Canon the only thing we don't know is which one did which missions (except tracking Zack and Cloud that was canonically Cissnei).
Edit: Though I suppose that this means Cissnei is the canon turk for at least one of the Cait Sith missions in Before Crisis.
Before Crisis also has the scene on the beach at night with Zack and Cloud, which was Cissnei in Crisis Core.

I know Cloud is amnesiac about his friendship with Zack, but it felt messed up when he called out Zack for being a loser. I don't know why Tifa doesn't say anything about Zack since she met him, but she did sort of blame him for Sephiroth going on a rampage.
Because Soldiers are losers to everyone. They were villains and shinra lapdogs. Obviously Zack was a good guy but being a Soldier isn't a good thing AT ALL.

I don’t think she remembers. Her collection of events along with Cloud’s are so centered on Sephiroth and cloud being there. I think Tifa accepts Cloud’s narrative as the truth because even with being there, her recollection of events is pretty much the same as Cloud’s. I think she believes Sephiroth did visit the village, went insane but other than that she only knows from Cloud that he was there but at the same time she’s doubtful because her memory is always hazy and her memory is as bad as Cloida

Devs said they won't change the og story. Those so called timelines are happening in the life stream. Only dead people like aerith, Zack, Biggs etc are in it. TIFA did visit earlier but cloud is trapped there. See there aren't any duplicate FIFA's, Barrets or dupes of the living characters. Marlene only has a connection facilitated by aerith. .

People saying Zack is happy and accepts it when Marlene said Aerith "likes Cloud" completely disregard the fact that Marlene also says "because you weren't there!". Like damn, y'all really run with your own narrative. That along with the entire dream date sequence with Aerith realizing liking is not the same as /liking/ and encouraging Cloud to move forward. Zerith is getting that reunion in Part 3 and it's going to be glorious!
this sounds like Coping. Now you’re running with your own narrative. Watch the gondola date scene and dream date. Those two are more connected than people realize. She wants to “Like” the real Cloud, not the Cloud now that reminds him of Zack. And if Zerith was still a thing why would Cloud be the one in the dream date. People move on, find new love. Zack was first love but that doesn’t mean true love.
@ta247 Of course they are connected. They love each other. What you guys refuse to understand is that romantic love isn't the only one that exists. The creators have already said things are not up to interpretation anymore, so let's just wait for Part 3.
She's in love with Cloud, we know this as a canon fact. FFVII OG and this game, also Dismantled and Ultimanias are clear that she has romantic feelings for Cloud, but most importantly, in Case of Lifestream written by Nojima, Aerith calls Cloud her lover/loved one while not mentioning Zack once.
Also the Reunion is about Cloud and Aerith did you even play the game and listen to the song. Aerith literally said to Cloud at the end "no matter what happens we'll be togetherr"

I think you are the one that is disregarding Zack as a character thinking he wouldn’t accept this, Marlene said “you weren’t there” because Zack said he didn’t saw that coming but ever since og Marlene knew about how these two felt.
Also in that date Cloud spent most of the time trying to know why Aerith is acting weird instead of going along with the thing which may lead Aerith to think he wasn’t into her, so context on that is also important.

I think its very sad how much trash talking Cloud does in regards to Zack, even if he does not remember the guy and has "fake memories", because if you consider that Cloud fully believes that he was a "badass" version of Zack, the thing that made Zack cool was that he never looked down upon anyone and tried being friendly and helpful to all, and his right hand guy while he was still working for SOLDIER was Kunsel, who always provided reliable info for Zack and even helped him out by looking after Aerith and stuff, and even though the infantrymen had a strong rivalry with SOLDIER as seen in Crisis Core, since you would get training missions of one handedly beating squads of infantrymen, even though people like Genesis might have looked down upon such "scrubs", I never saw Angeal or Sephiroth or even Zack doing that in any of the games, and specially Zack was very friendly towards Cloud who was a simple infantryman, and even Sephiroth himself would try to make small conversations with Cloud, as he even asked how it felt being back home in Nibelheim, so I have no idea where the hell Cloud gets that asshole behavior from, because even if he does not remember Zack, he does remember how Zack fought which is why he can do some of the techniques, so its messed up that he didn't pick up on the charismatic and friendly side of Zack, so that just makes Cloud naturally an asshole when he gets power, as when he was weak as fuck he was shy and kept his head down obeying orders, kind of similar as to how bullied people sometimes become bullies when they grow up.

**Potential spoilers if you are experiencing FFVII for the first time through Remake (I did my best to be vague) :
The original game didn’t give us as deep of an insight on how all of these characters built relationships with each other. Don’t get me wrong - what they did for the time was INCREDIBLE, but they were not able to get this deep.
Seeing Tifa and Aerith together, they almost allude to having a full understanding of the backstory together. Prior to this - all of the characters were so closely tied together but they were disjointed in the sense of not being able to piece things together. In the original, Aerith knows that Cloud isn’t himself. She never “learned” how/why though. Tifa experienced everything in Nibleheim, she also experienced the same story that Cloud shared, only difference is that she knows some of Cloud’s details weren’t right.
When you think about how much time the party would have spent together exploring Gaia, it’s hard not to think about how the two wouldn’t have figured it out. Seeing Aerith and Tifa work together, almost operating as a duo, for Cloud’s best interest gave me such a deeper appreciation for both characters. We spend a lot of time as a fanbase trying to pin the two by winning one of their dates at gold saucer, all that to say, any competition between the two is completely fan-made. Both of them care about each other, and are doing whatever they can to help Cloud.
This scene made me feel sad those parents are waiting for a son that will never return to them it breaks my heart although it did shock me that cloud called him a loser I like cloud but that is a 100 percent bad move there though its not his fault that he doesn't remember him.
Tifa know so much about zack, but rather she trying to hide everything, even she did not mention about zack to aerith that he actually loved her, after saying this to cloud that she's gonna say about zack to her, here I dont know what actually the game story writer are cooking, here another theory of me : so they simply add 3 timlines, the first one which zack survives and when he decides to go to the shinra HQ to find hojo to help cloud, but they simply did'nt show us that moment, instead after the platoon scene they, again created the second timeline where biggs about to blast reactor 6, you guy can see where biggs is eating something and the snack packet printed dog is different from the (zack survives timeline) where the dog was different, they again played smart by killing biggs and let zack accepts his fates, and at last, at the church where zack was thinking about biggs, cloud and aerith you can notice a strange man is handling a dog, Now I'm confused which dog it was, the survived timeline or the another timeline where zack goes to meet aertih but end up battling with sephiroth along side cloud in his timeline, they must do something in next part of the game, The professor Hojo will be the crucial and gonna be the main hourse of this race, I just want a good ending for both cloud and zack and he should end up his story with aerith.
