I hope they use Gaia as the world for 17, I'm not into Knights, castles, mages, dragons or past tense settings I like how 7 has a Sci fi story of Aliens & has technology used by people
I am just amazed that we got two great mainline FF games in a span of just 8 months. Literally takes me back to PS1 days. And to think they developed XV/Versus XIII for like 10 years. Glad Square Enix finally got their shit together.
wow, graphical fidelity in 16 looks really good. not just texture, but also the animation details, both the hand animated (character movements, expressions) and procedural ones (feet touching ground). the chocobos run and jump animation looks really natural. i don't get why they can't use the animation they already made. i understand it's different team developing each game concurrently, but they're the same company, why can't they communicate and share assets.
the assets between the Luminous engine and UE4 may not be compatible with one another. the one thing that looks better in FF7R is the chocobo animation, in FF16 the legs and velocity are slightly off
@@King-2077 The thing about Clive even if you only control him u have access to all the other character's powers so instead of each character having one individual skill tree Clive can just use them all so it kinda makes it irrelevant to swap characters
yeah too bright 90% of the time. The graphics are very good because in some areas you get the perfect contrast but somehow they fucked up the lighting in most open areas.
It's honestly a TV optimization problem. On an OLED with really deep blacks and superior HDR the game doesn't look washed out, but most of us don't have $2k TVs...me included. On my $300 Samsung UHD I fixed it with some settings changes. Not perfect but helped. Something like a Sony Bravia where you can adjust the black points really helps. See if that is in your settings and max out the black points and tweak HDR a bit (probably want it to be a little less contrast actually since changing contrast to bring out the really bright colors of FF7 Rebirth will end up washing out the mute colors). The game has a really wide color palette which can be tricky, as the monitors developers use are wildly better and don't have to compensate for color departments that are lacking. HDR itself can actually make it worse if you have a simple LED screen. Sometimes standard def with no HDR is the way to go if you just want the washed out look to go away. If you have HDR but its a lower end TV, sometimes HDR isnt worth it and makes it worse.
@@milagroman75 If you need a 2000 dollar tv to get good lighting it's not a tv problem lol. It's game of thrones last season all over again, and you are completely delusional
I went from Remake to Rebirth straight away. Its not just lighting issues, appears to be a problem with the frame rate as well, it's not as smooth as Remake or FF16 but meh, still loved it
Having played both games I can say that while they're both final fantasy, They offer very different content. FF16 is more combo focused like DMC,Nier or bayonetta, It has better graphics but smaller maps and more linearity to it. FF7Rebirth while it offers fast paced combat, it is more focused on the synergy of the party instead, offering more rewards the better you utilize your party, It suffers a little bit on the graphics side, especially when compared to FF16 or in some cases FF7 Remake but it compensates with an open world full of details, stuffs to discover and things to do.
Appreciate having all the great FF games to enjoy for everyone. For me, after playing 16 and now playing Rebirth, there are many elements to 16 I prefer though I understand the more action heavy play style of the game isn't for everyone.
Agree, FF7 Rebirth character moving is like floating in ice skating arena... It feel like over move and I unable to control the character movement precisely with my controller
In ff16 you only use one character and you spam 4 skills during the entire game, might have more weight in the movement but everything else about that game is generic trash.
Interesting video. Not sure if they went with a charm over graphical heights with Rebirth. There are a lot of high quality rocks, smuggled in with low quality rocks. Which gives off a realistical , yet cartoony look. While 16 , is 1 solid quality standard.
The quality and attention to detail of the graphics in FF XVI are top notch. The environment, textures and assets are of extreme quality and high polygon count. FFVII Rebirth, like Remake, is a mess. There's a lot of low poly objects and blurry textures. Overall, graphics looks fine and are serviceable, but up close is horrible. Look at the phone in the demo, it literally looks like a PS2 asset.
Yeah FFVIIR, at a glance looks great. And in motion it's servicable. I think it's a very attractive looking game but if you look close you'll see really huge flaws. Like the first game, some parts looked amazing and some parts looked absolutely horrendous. FFXVI is much more consistent, but overall, I actually like the art design and cutscene direction of FF7R series a lot more. I just wish the asset quality wasn't so inconsistent
Yea high quality which is why the density of assets is so low and the world feels empty. Go count number of assets between the games. Those will create detail and uniqueness of the whole world not just one screen. They actually managed to not learn anything from their ffXIV initial launch. What a waste of investment and time.
I don't give a dam what people think about final fantasy 16 that was a dam good game I had no problems or issues with my play through and I play all my games on 30fps 4k mode anyway never play games on 60fps mode

Funny, because they are not even close to "realistic" lighting :D Way too dark. Schadows never get so dark on clothes when its bright sunshine or a lit room.
Graphics in FF16 is much better. In FF7 Rebirth there are so much muddy textures. They didn't have had the time or the choose of Unreal Engine for an open world game was wrong. I mean FF7 Rebirth is really good. But the graphics.. damn
😂 unreal engine is perfect for open world development actually .. but yea the graphics definitely suffer. Huge fan of FF16 graphics ! Lighting, shadows, textures, models etc..
@@villaniousmustache4898you’ve clearly never played DMC because it’s extremely different. The only similarities is they’re both hack and slash and had the same Dev work on both.
having played both games this year here are my thoughts: Graphics: FF16 Performance: FF7R (stable 60fps) 4K mode: FF16 (cuz of camera motion blur) better looking world (art and graphics and lighting wise): FF16, most regions in Rebirth are beautiful but held back to due graphics, really poor lighting and textures. better world overall: FF7R (each regions are unique and towns in Rebirth are way better) level design: FF7R combat: FF7R facial animation: FF7R characters: FF7R by a huge margin OST: FF7R slight edge story: FF7R sidequests: FF7R voice acting: both tldr: on a technical standpoint if ur looking for a better looking FF game graphics wise FF16 is the clear winner surprisingly, but if you want an overall better FF game (story, characters etc) go for FF7R. Regardless both are peak FF for me and FF fans should celebrate it.
I've just play both (Rebirth at quality mode -30fps-) and Rebirth is better in Graphics (lighting is fixed right now), but FFXVI has more WOW moments thanks his art work. The problem of texture in Rebirth is a UE4 issue and need a better hardware (thid is the reason that Rebirth is the ps5 pro ads )
16 is action rpg. 7R returns to jrpg roots for what classic final fantasy is known for. We get 7R style because purists cant stop whining about it. Im in the position where Im glad I have both, as a fan of both
FF16 is brainless though. Mostly no tactics required.. no elemental weaknesses for enemies.. team mates fully AI controlled with no impact, item spam.. QTE etc... Gameplay Wise FF7 Rebirrh is much more a FF game
@@Coldsilfur4 yeah ff16 combat isn't even that well developed when you compare it to the likes of devil may cry 5 but it's ok and the effects are really beautiful. FF16 visuals are more consistent but ff7s problems are completely forgotten once you play it and see the quality in everything else, considering the ambition and scale of each region. And there are many more moments where ff7 looks much better, but the lows can be very low.
@@robertagren9360old content in a new game? Fk boi, did you not noticed the sh*t stain amount of garbage side quests that remind you of ff14? Bro, grow a little smarter
Both have great visuals. In terms of art direction, it subjective some might like the modern touch of FF7 more other will like the high fantasy/medieval approach more. Visuals: Both When it’s comes to graphics i think FF16 have en edge in graphical fidelity a log of FF16 area looks high poly, detailed and polished. Texture are of high quality and you can clearly see it. CBU3 definitely mastered they’re graphical engine. It’s a different case for FF7, some texture looks muddy, some assets can looks very low poly and cubical even in Quality Mode (Which wasn’t a thing in the upgraded version of FF7 Remake for the PS5) but the one the game wants you to see will not. I think it’s mostly a UE4 problem than an error of the team because you can see that they put what they could in the time they had. Graphics : FF16 FF16 definitely nailed the Lightning and shadow, everything looks smooth for shadow. The light tech is near to perfect, some area can look a little too dark but apart of that it’s great. UE4 is still hurting FF7 visuals because Shadow can look rough and unpolished. A lot of area have very rough lightning which can makes the characters look weird (again FF7 Remake had the same problem but the upgraded version fixed it). Leaving a resting place for exemple can lead to annoying blinding lights. Both games have great, detailed and high poly character models. I think FF7 have better hair tech, hair in FF16 looks a bit flat (high end version of FF14 hair tech basically.) Lightning/Shadow: FF16 As for Physics, it’s interesting. Both games have good physics… at least they should. One of them kinda drop the ball on one thing… and it’s FF7. If you look at the first teaser of FF7 Rebirth, you can see that the game had foliage collision and deformation. Unfortunately the final game didn’t have it, probably to make the game run better. FF16 totally nailed it. They used Havok for the Physics system. There’s even a part when the protagonist have to chase someone with a storm happening and you could the see the wind blowing the foliage moving everywhere etc… Physics: FF16 Overall, i think CBU3 have created and mastered a great engine. I hope Square Enix knows they have a really good graphical engine in their hands. They just need to take care of it nicely and learn from the errors of the Luminous Engine. CBU1 are being nerfed because of the Unreal Engine 4 tech that is known to not the best but there’s hope that they will transition to UE5 which have literally the all the thing that can make FF7 perfect in terms of graphics. FF7 is too ambitious for UE4 and it shows.
@SteveBonito Every FF game is different and just because YOU don't like it doesn't mean it's objectively shit. You're a total dumbass for making such an objective statement on a clearly completely subjective thing.
I've been having so much fun playing ff7 rebirth that I slept on ff16 but after seeing this video, I defiantly want to go back and play ff16 because it looks so gritty and has a med evil feel to it which I love. Don't get wrong, ff7 rebirth is fantastic but ff16 just feels more grounded. Hope squareenix continues to make ff games following like this because, I'm diggging it.
XVI is much more advanced and graphically-awesome. Plus, I love the pure action combat system of FFXVI more than FF7RE. FF7RE hybrid action and turn-based actually buggers me because dodge is completely useless and enemies always interrupt my combos since there's no invincibility frames there while FFXVI's is actually very important. Plus, Clive has really grown on me and is now my new favorite FF protag.
The graphics on FFXVI are just simply mesmerizing and cinematic which FFVII cannot afford as much being a huge open world game. They had to make sacrifices which is normal. They’re both beautiful in their own rights, FFXVI has the cinematic edge, FFVII looks stunning knowing how big and open of a game it is. Plus FFXVI maps aren’t fully explorable, a big chunk of it is there for the looks. Which I can very much appreciate as well, hard to beat those graphics !! What is unbeatable though is FFVII combat system, although I did enjoy playing FFXVI, the combat system lacks a lot in diversity in comparison. FFVII has the most fun gameplay
It's boring, I was very hyped for it as well, started playing, was amazed and then it just became boring. Enemies aren't challenging in the least, the side quests are akin to mom sending you to the store with a shopping list, cutscenes are basically people talking and talking and talking. I stopped playing it when Clive was (again) asked to bring some freaking leaves for who cares what.
Water was definitely one of the weaker points of the graphics in rebirth. The ocean looks super flat and like wrinkled shrinkwrap. Character models in Rebirth look better imo tho, especially in-game.
FF16 - Story, Graphics, Voice Acting, Eikons, Lore, Clive as Main Character, Jill, Music FF Rebirth, Side Quests, Side Content, Mini Games, Queens Blood (important), Tifa & Arith love triangle, Sephiroth and Rufas, Classic RPG elements Gamplay is up to personal preference. Overall I think FF16 is my preferred game after playing both.
For people who interested: FFXVI has real clouds that generated in realtime. Meanwhile FFVII Rebirth has static image of sky. Also FFXVI has one of the best water graphics (castle storm scene). FFVII graphics are looking great, but if you look closely - it’s low res textures all over the place. I love both games, but FFXVI is much better in terms of graphics.

Chocobo do have an kick animation in Rebirth... but you transition into combat when pressing square near ennemies. While it's cool to kick ennemies with a chocobo like 3-4 times, i think i prefer to go into combat directly and doesn't need to unmount to attack. For "graphics"... it's depend on your taste. If you like to look at empty fields with crispy resolution or dense scenery with low assets. I would give it to FFXVI for graphics but to ffVII for level design. And in my book : Design > Graphics Just sad they kept Unreal Engine 4 for this one... but probably we couldn't have Rebirth this soon or with that much stuff in it if they risked another engine.
@@Gegefartitami FF16 feels like the older game and i didnt knew this until i tried it and had to deal with jittery movement and silly animations. Rebirth saved my wasted excitement for FF16 tbh

@@Coldsilfur4every final fantasy from this point on should have ff7 combat its a perfect balance between action and turn base combat. Ff16 was really fun but yeah ff7 is by far superior.
FF16 obviously looks better overall mainly given the engine, but sitting down and actually playing the games is quite a different experience. FF7R is more my style.
Gameplay-wise, Rebirth feels more like a mainline FF title (it has an iteration of the ATB mechanic, active party strategizing/management in and out of combat, a band of characters traveling across a grand world) -- these mechanics felt more like a natural evolution of the classic gameplay FF was known for. While XVI feels like a great adition to the Devil May Cry series.
Well FFXVI is gorgeous graphically, FFVII instead has some big issues that come from the use of Unreal Engine 4, the textures are pretty bad a lot of the time.
well sure but not all engines are suitable for everything. In this case, UE4, especially the version they are using is lacking for their vision. @@ASSEMBLOTRON
I've played both extensively, FF7 Rebirth's combat is better. You just can't beat that team synergy and multi layer strategizing that is required to be successful(I'm playing on Dynamic with no auto commands making any decisions for me). FF16 got easy and repetitive VERY quickly and was one of my main complaints(even though I overall enjoyed the game and the story was A++), I kept feeling like it wasn't challenging me enough. That problem is NEVER the case with FF7 Rebirth, I'm finding that I have to switch party members, materia, note my synergy moves and the benefits they give just to stay a float--I absolutely love it. FF7 Rebirth is leagues better COMBAT wise.
Interesting for me i personally preferred 16 combat now there are things rebirth does better like synergy skills which actually make you fell like your fighting with a team but i felt 16 had more weight to it and enemy's are easier to read like rebirth feels floaty and the way enemy's fight feels somewhat unfair at times when it comes to dodging and when dealing damage outside of staggering it kinda feels like your attacks have no effect on the enemy they just keep swinging and i get it's about focusing weakness and pressuring but i like that in 16 you could do a perfect dodge or block and jump straight back into a combo the gameplay loop felt more enjoyable.
@@ryanbaker5296 hey if you like more ease there's nothing wrong with that. You said it yourself about 16's combat "enemies are easier to read". Nothing about either games' combat felt unfair to me, whenever I took dmg I could tie it back to a mistake that I made. Very early in the game I wasn't afraid to fight anything anymore in 16, in Rebirth I'm constantly checking my build and team composition bc the game literally forces you to, that's only one element of the challenge factor too. 16 never took away an eikon, a weapon, forced you to switch it up, it never even demanded you adhere to elemental weaknesses and strengths lol you could dmg fire things WITH fire which made no sense and didn't require any planning or thought. I love when combat is challenging and it's a huge con for me if I can skate through it without trying. That was the only major flaw for me about 16, but not everybody invites challenge and that's ok too.
@@SAGEXX309 The whole fire beats fire thing was funny and weird lol. And i do get your point about not being afraid to fight anything to be fair i remember the combat designer did say they wanted to make the system so that if your skilled at the game you can fight a boss like 15 levels above you which i think is fine but honestly the game is not that hard to begin with, and i do like a challenge i love all the souls games but i guess when it comes to games like this i prefer the more cinematic aspect and 16 is pretty much that both game are great as a RPG i will say rebirth is better but as a game i prefer 16 if that makes sense but glad you enjoyed it i will say that i do think the final boss battle is better in rebirth .
In the gameplay 7 rebirth is Fun but the story.....How they ruined fucking moments, and yes you have shitty cringe anime characters, so yes you nerd the pacience to play
I absolutely enjoyed 16. My goty too. But rebirths world is far interesting and having party members mixed with nostalgia is a whole level of greatness
FF16 is a fun game to play. Storyline is also intense. But there are 2 critical points that make gameplay experience poorer than FFVII rebirth. First of all, fighting mechanic is similar to DMC and doesn’t utilize abilities of party members you have. Most of the time it feel like I fight alone. Also, side quests is very poor design. I don’t feel it fun or interesting to progress the quest line.
The thing about Clive even if you only control him u have access to all the other character's powers so instead of each character having one individual skill tree Clive can just use them all so it kinda makes it irrelevant to swap characters also 16 had more weight rebirth feels very floaty but the synergy ability's in rebirth are very cool. But as a RPG rebirth win and yeah side quests are a lot better, 16 had like 3 good side quest and that was it.
@@ryanbaker5296still it makes it a one character combat, team mates are just decoration.. its all about rotation spam.. enemies have no physical or elemental weaknesses.. quicktime events.. its a fun devil may cry with no strategic deepness to it.. its no rpg nor FF combat
Didn't realize how much better 16 looks until I revisited it for the Leviathan dlc. The colors in rebirth are more vibrant, but the fidelity is significantly lower. Here's hoping part 3 closes that gap cus damn is 16 gorgeous
Ff7 is way better. Ff16 was disappointing with their story, especially the ending. I love the brothers story and relationship, but the main villain and how that turns out was so weak and came out of nowhere. In the end, I'm like, is that it? And for the graphics, at times, it is very messing and dont know what's going on with all the color pallette and has less options for combat. For example, you can only choose 4 elements (movesets). The one good trait is that the movement of the character is smooth, but that is pretty much it.
Man i sure didn't miss FF16's combat lol, looks great but everything is just.. meh. FF7 Rebirth on the other hand is super fun, makes you realize the old formula is still the best.. why change something when it's already perfect?
I suppose it makes sense that ff16 would have the edge because it’s not an actual open world game like ff7 rebirth. They are two very different games, and I echo what everyone else says about how awesome it is to have had these both so close to one another!
@@Mr_Flopp-c8jFF16 jumping outside of combat is useless. Cant jump over fences with it none of game's zones own topography is designed with jumping in mind at all what so ever. If places to jump, its automatically done for you instead of needing your real time input for actual platforming with it.
I love both games ❤ i heard FF16 was such a monster of a budget to make. I can only imagine if they had more space they could have expanded on the game and added more of an open world. Honestly that would have been insane and on an entirely different level.
FF16 is the better looking game but FF7R is the better playing game. just wished FF16 didn't only need one tactic for the entire campaign... even on Final Fantasy mode...
Yeah that's my problem with FF16. Once you find a loadout you are comfortable with, there's no incentive to switch it up. There's no tactical component to the game that requires it. The only reason would be to create cooler combos. In Rebirth, you are constantly on the move trying to ascertain and punish enemy weaknesses. The exploration looks way better in Rebirth as well - based on the demo it's actually rewarding to check every nook and cranny, unlike FF16 where a trek up a secluded hill would net you 4 gil.
@@dominicsawicki694316 is definitely a game where you have to be willing to voluntarily mix it up and try new load outs and combinations of abilities constantly for it to really be fun. If you do it's amazing if not it's boring as hell.
To be fair i think 16 gameplay loop was funner and I felt it had more weight and when it came to enemy movements i feel they where cleaner and easier to read rebirth felt floaty to me it was still good but i did find my self a few time wanting combat to feel more like 16 don't get me wrong rebirth did do some things better than 16 in combat but overall i preferred 16 but as a RPG rebirth easily takes the cake but as a game there both quite close for me but rebirth never hit the highs that 16 did.
I think the only let down for ff7 remake is that the gameplay isn't what I expected but it's still decent. I was looking for dmc5 gameplay. Can't jump in ff7, dodging isn't cinematic enough for cloud / not far enough. From what ive seen there's barely any vehicle usage. But this IS a young cloud, not the peak he reaches in advent children doing incredible stuff while getting a awesome outfit and a super cool motorcycle he can ride around. With how hugely successful remake and rebirth are, I think after the 3rd game we probably will get a advent children game with dmc5 gameplay. I mean the makes sense. We have crisis core remade which is a prequel to ff7, and with remake + rebirth ff7's mainline story is over half done. So they have the opportunity to do advent children and dirge of cerberus. The closest thing we have to final fantasy 7 getting dmc5 gameplay is dissidia 2012 on psp, the new dissidia is horrible gameplay wise... graphics aren't gameplay yeah it looks cool but it isnt. But at least you can jump and do a way better dodge/rush. I've never played ff15, but I've heard it's awesome. I've read that ff16 is comparable but it seems like ff15 has way more fans than ff16. But we all know that ff7 is by far the most iconic final fantasy and for valid reasons, sure it has a few flaws but what it did right it did perfect.

Main Antagonist was kinda bad i thought that Clive's mother was a better overall villain As an RPG Rebirth takes it easy if we are just comparing them as games i will say it is quite close i think for me Rebirth never hit the highs of 16 but as a whole Rebirthwas better like i said If 16 kept up the pace after the bahamut fight it would easily be one of my favourite game's of all time i hope when the new dlc comes out that it will fix some of my issues with the games last act. But overall i think Rebirth just edges it.
i find it interesting that mainline ff titles have always been a 30fps recommended experience. I've played both and they put little care into the visuals when playing in 60fps
Both amazing games. Id say from a casual perspective i find FF7 alittle more interesting as your dealing with a party, and chosen what to spend your ATB seems more fun overall, whilst as fun as FF16 was, clives 6 cooldowns made most of my fights play out the same.
okay, so this is more or less in the action games genre like DMC, GOW, Bayonetta etc.. I was afraid it was a Souls game at glance (not that I wouldn't like an FF game in the Souls genre, SoP is actually right now my #1 favorite game, but i prefer it being a spin-off title rather than a main title, I prefer integrity in established title series) I've read up on it, and people seem to agree its not a souls game... ... ... ... ... good. That puts my heart at ease.

man. i wish they did more with FF15. that game is so close yet so far to being the perfect FF game. the retro-modern aesthetic of the world, the road trip style of travel and mood, the cinematic style of the combat that involves 4 characters, although it is less technical than other FF games, every combat encounter felt like a short movie, it's quite unique and a breath of fresh air. beautifully crafted game, but its flaws were too much to bear. too much cut content, the combat lacking depth and creativity even though it had the foundation. initial optimization issues. the story noticeably "cuts off" at a certain point, where the game's development went downhill after hajime tabata resigned before the game's potential was fully realized. the novel with the canon ending had so much more to offer. tenebrae, nifflheim, the entirety of altissia, aranea highwind, so on and so forth. on the other hand FF16 tried too much to cater to the western audience, courtesy of yoshi-p's love for all things western, and the combat tried too hard to be DMC. i respect yoshi-P but i feel like this isn't the right direction for a mainline FF game. FF has its own charm, it should not try to be like other RPGs and instead keep to its own devices to preserve that charm. the world felt barren, the characters lacked personality. too much focus on clive's combat mechanics and michael bay moments with eikons, the drama felt forced. FF7 rebirth is a nice balance between FF15 and 16's style. it's a great vehicle for nostalgia, but not as impactful as the mainline FF games in all aspects. it's however a fun remake in all aspects and i can respect that. something that's easy to pick up and play like older rpgs.
I wish FF16 combat style was in FF 7 rebirth instead of controlling all other characters. I prefer FF16 gameplay more but prefer ff7 rebirth gameplay direction. My dream final fantasy game would be FF16 gameplay in rebirth world.

wow, graphical fidelity in 16 looks really good. not just texture, but also the animation details, both the hand animated (character movements, expressions) and procedural ones (feet touching ground). the chocobos run and jump animation looks really natural. i don't get why they can't use the animation they already made. i understand it's different team developing each game concurrently, but they're the same company, why can't they communicate and share assets.
Exactly!!
the assets between the Luminous engine and UE4 may not be compatible with one another. the one thing that looks better in FF7R is the chocobo animation, in FF16 the legs and velocity are slightly off

Rebirth definitely has lighting issues.
yeah too bright 90% of the time. The graphics are very good because in some areas you get the perfect contrast but somehow they fucked up the lighting in most open areas.
Faces in some sections look so ghoulish due to the lighting, I bought a new TV for this game because it looked even worse on my old TV
Its not just lighting issues, appears to be a problem with the frame rate as well, it's not as smooth as Remake or FF16 but meh, still loved it
It appears Final Fantasy XVI may have a slight edge in graphical fidelity.
Still not that I’m short of space, but that file size(FF7 RB) pinched me
@tbnwontpop8857meh NIbilhiem is by far the worst looking area of the game.
I also think Rebirth world looks less graphically demanding but it takes ressources I guess to show the whole party.
It couldn't run at a steady 60fps so who cares about graphics?
Ff16 was hot dookie
Having played both games I can say that while they're both final fantasy, They offer very different content. FF16 is more combo focused like DMC,Nier or bayonetta, It has better graphics but smaller maps and more linearity to it. FF7Rebirth while it offers fast paced combat, it is more focused on the synergy of the party instead, offering more rewards the better you utilize your party, It suffers a little bit on the graphics side, especially when compared to FF16 or in some cases FF7 Remake but it compensates with an open world full of details, stuffs to discover and things to do.
When graphics aren't everything. Yeah, you'll wake up someday
I think FF16 graphics are a lot better there are some weird moments graphically. I prefer remake but it’s not touching 16 in the visuals.
Appreciate having all the great FF games to enjoy for everyone. For me, after playing 16 and now playing Rebirth, there are many elements to 16 I prefer though I understand the more action heavy play style of the game isn't for everyone.
Ff16 for me... it just has more weight in the movement. Ffvii feels like gravity turns off 90% of the time

What a waste of investment and time.

having played both games this year here are my thoughts:
Graphics: FF16
Performance: FF7R (stable 60fps)
4K mode: FF16 (cuz of camera motion blur)
better looking world (art and graphics and lighting wise): FF16, most regions in Rebirth are beautiful but held back to due graphics, really poor lighting and textures.
better world overall: FF7R (each regions are unique and towns in Rebirth are way better)
level design: FF7R
combat: FF7R
facial animation: FF7R
characters: FF7R by a huge margin
OST: FF7R slight edge
story: FF7R
sidequests: FF7R
voice acting: both
tldr: on a technical standpoint if ur looking for a better looking FF game graphics wise FF16 is the clear winner surprisingly, but if you want an overall better FF game (story, characters etc) go for FF7R.

Remake to 16 to Rebirth…I don’t know? I think I like 16 combat better now. Rather, I like the inputs better than the menu navigation for abilities.

Both have great visuals. In terms of art direction, it subjective some might like the modern touch of FF7 more other will like the high fantasy/medieval approach more.
Visuals: Both
When it’s comes to graphics i think FF16 have en edge in graphical fidelity a log of FF16 area looks high poly, detailed and polished.
Graphics : FF16
FF16 definitely nailed the Lightning and shadow, everything looks smooth for shadow. I think FF7 have better hair tech, hair in FF16 looks a bit flat (high end version of FF14 hair tech basically.)
Lightning/Shadow: FF16
As for Physics, it’s interesting. There’s even a part when the protagonist have to chase someone with a storm happening and you could the see the wind blowing the foliage moving everywhere etc…
Physics: FF16
Overall, i think CBU3 have created and mastered a great engine.

Is the first enemy a boss or just a regular enemy for ff xvi?? Cause that’s a lot of flashy moves to barely even harm the thing.
FF16 - Story, Graphics, Voice Acting, Eikons, Lore, Clive as Main Character, Jill, Music
FF Rebirth, Side Quests, Side Content, Mini Games, Queens Blood (important), Tifa & Arith love triangle, Sephiroth and Rufas, Classic RPG elements
Gamplay is up to personal preference.

Man i sure didn't miss FF16's combat lol, looks great but everything is just.. meh. FF7 Rebirth on the other hand is super fun, makes you realize the old formula is still the best.. why change something when it's already perfect?
What did you not like about it? I think the combat is rlly good, depending on what Eikons you're using ofc.
Well i guess they will never make another final fantasy with that high
graphic elements like ffxv again.
I suppose it makes sense that ff16 would have the edge because it’s not an actual open world game like ff7 rebirth. They are two very different games, and I echo what everyone else says about how awesome it is to have had these both so close to one another!
I just hate how world traversal looks in Rebirth. It looks so janky, at least in 16 Clive is actually running on the ground
And can jump
Boring..
?
@@Mr_Flopp-c8jFF16 jumping outside of combat is useless. Cant jump over fences with it none of game's zones own topography is designed with jumping in mind at all what so ever. If places to jump, its automatically done for you instead of needing your real time input for actual platforming with it.
Unreal engine 4 just has this lighting that not very aesthetically pleasing compared to more modern engines
man, how i wish ff16 you can set gambits to your allies and not a solo affair game.
Right?!
This was my biggest gripe
Decent grraphic....Waiting fo FF 16 remake in 2030...
I love both games ❤ i heard FF16 was such a monster of a budget to make. I can only imagine if they had more space they could have expanded on the game and added more of an open world. Honestly that would have been insane and on an entirely different level.
XVI had more "holy shit" moments. The bosses did become too damage spongey though.
FF7 has tons of variety which XVI doesn't.
Soundtrack goes to 16 also but I’m really enjoying 7 rebirth’s glad to own both. People really need to play the trails series underrated gems 💎

Hey guess what its a video game and youre not limited to only using one combo
FF16 is clearly the better looking game. UE4 and odd optimization choices definitely held Rebirth back a bit. Hoping a PC release remedies this.
But we all know that ff7 is by far the most iconic final fantasy and for valid reasons, sure it has a few flaws but what it did right it did perfect.
i played both
FF7 rebirth
Pro -
i like the story more
Tifa & Aerith are more enjoyable to play with and better looking
Many mini game
Combat is fun
Cons
Summon i dont even see what they r doing. Attack animation only for last hit.
Lighting is terrible at some area
Cloud face & eyes looks so weird if u zoom in
FF16
Pro
Better Combat
Summon fight is better
Better Music & sound effect
Better graphics
Cons
Support characters doesn't help much and we cant switch character.
But overall i like rebirth more, the storyline and replayability.
FF16 i think i wont touch the game again after i completed it
Completed both
FF7 rebirth
Pro -
Is Very much an RPG
Better Side quest
Better Party
Better Character development
Better Main antagonist
Cons
Summons are bad and a few look goofy like Titan and Ifrit compared to 16 is crazy
Lightning
Cloud face i don't know why it looks weird
The ending i felt had too much going on
And little nick pick there where a lot of slow walking parts
FF16
Pro
Better Combat had more weight and was easier to read enemy's
Summon's i mean epic
Incredible Music & sound effect ( Can't believe it is not even nominated for music at bafta games awards 2024)
Better graphics and art direction
Imo Story was better
Voice actor Performances IMO Ben star should of won best VA
Cons
Support characters don't do a lot (i personally don't mind not switching characters like i pretty much only played cloud in rebirth also with clive he has access to every power of each party member so it make's switching somewhat irrelevant)
The game starts to fall off after the Bahamut fight imo like the first 70% of the game was incredible but after that fight there were quite a few pacingissues.
Main Antagonist was kinda bad i thought that Clive's mother was a better overall villain
As an RPG Rebirth takes it easy if we are just comparing them as games i will say it is quite close i think for me Rebirth never hit the highs of 16 but as a whole Rebirthwas better like i said If 16 kept up the pace after the bahamut fight it would easily be one of my favourite game's of all time i hope when the new dlc comes out that it will fix some of my issues with the games last act. But overall i think Rebirth just edges it.
FF16 combat is better? What have you smoked? No tactics, just rotation spam, team mates are just decoration.. enemies have no weaknesses to exploit..
i find it interesting that mainline ff titles have always been a 30fps recommended experience. I've played both and they put little care into the visuals when playing in 60fps
You can tell which game was specifically made for ps5. It seems like rebirth had the issue of last gen still in mind
And yet, rebirth plays and feels better
Both amazing games.
Id say from a casual perspective i find FF7 alittle more interesting as your dealing with a party, and chosen what to spend your ATB seems more fun overall, whilst as fun as FF16 was, clives 6 cooldowns made most of my fights play out the same.
Guys frame rate or grpahics mode for 16?
Def graphics mode, 30 fps is just a lot more stable than the 60 fps mode.
okay, so this is more or less in the action games genre like DMC, GOW, Bayonetta etc..
I'm just kinda tired of Souls like games tbh, i miss hack and slash shit (not that i hate the souls genre, DS3 is one of my fav games lol)
I recommend
Scarlet Nexus pretty fun hack and slash game made by Bandai Namco

yeah UE4 for FF7R and undisclosed (but likely some offshoot of Luminous) for FF16.

16 is much better, but rebirth is a substantially better game than the first remake, so that is nice.
Graphics Comparison :
FFXVI Torgal can't ride Chocobos vs FFVII RedXIII can ride Chocobos xd
FF16 graphics seems to have better details, lighting and water animation. The waterfalls look so good. In Rebirth, they look blocky like an upscaled PS2 graphics. But Rebirth seems to have higher resolution and smoother performance. I just dig the more realistic environment designs of 16. Rebirth is a remake of a PS1 game anyway. But something seems off with its lighting and color.
Ff16 shadows are the best rasterized shadows I have ever seen, no console game comes even close to the shadow fidelity of this game
Not gunna lie, red ridong chcocobos was the funniest shit to me first time, like wtf lmfao theyre trying to hard to make him feel humaniod
In terms of Graphics XVI puts remake and rebirth to sleep
Well in terms of actual game ff16 puts you to sleep too
Maybe you cant read but we are comparing graphics....@@BadGoy7
It’s actually funny because this video is taking footage of rebirth demo build of single areas made in 2020 LMFAO
And in all the others, ff16 it bends at 90°.
Good graphic,boring gameplay..ff7 r still win
Its crazy how FFXV still has much better lighting than two "pure" next gen games.
Just finished Rebirth ... And i think FF16 feels like a movie, FF7 Rebirth feels like a Theme Park.
2:52 our DLC cant come soon enough!

i love both games but VII is better than XVI
man. i wish they did more with FF15. that game is so close yet so far to being the perfect FF game. the retro-modern aesthetic of the world, the road trip style of travel and mood, the cinematic style of the combat that involves 4 characters, although it is less technical than other FF games, every combat encounter felt like a short movie, it's quite unique and a breath of fresh air. beautifully crafted game, but its flaws were too much to bear. too much cut content, the combat lacking depth and creativity even though it had the foundation. initial optimization issues. the story noticeably "cuts off" at a certain point, where the game's development went downhill after hajime tabata resigned before the game's potential was fully realized. the novel with the canon ending had so much more to offer. tenebrae, nifflheim, the entirety of altissia, aranea highwind, so on and so forth.
on the other hand FF16 tried too much to cater to the western audience, courtesy of yoshi-p's love for all things western, and the combat tried too hard to be DMC. i respect yoshi-P but i feel like this isn't the right direction for a mainline FF game.
Je préfère les graphismes de ff16 mais me sont incroyables également....
I wish FF16 combat style was in FF 7 rebirth instead of controlling all other characters. I prefer FF16 gameplay more but prefer ff7 rebirth gameplay direction. My dream final fantasy game would be FF16 gameplay in rebirth world.
Hm. When you put them side by side, 16 really is the better choice. I’m looking forward to it’s PC release. I’m immediately turned off by the annoying voice acting in 7R. 16 blows it out of the water.
Absolutely not.
7 rebirth got better gameplay than 16..16 just super boring action game
i agree, both are amazing games but 16 wins graphically
@@wanroy4470 They both have the same combat system.
@@Kamawan0 they don't. XVI is like DMC somewhat, but rebirth has simpler action combat for each character but tons of enemy weaknesses and status effects
This is basically a Luminous Engine vs Unreal Engine 4 comparison.
I don't think that is the Luminous engine actually... Yoshida said he didn't even have the instructions to make a game in Luminous... so they had to build a new engine from the scratch for 16. Given Square's history thank god it worked all good.
I hate how much people slept on FFXVI... it's an amazing game! I do like the combat of FFVIIR more though but pretty much everything else I give to FFXVI.
You think that exploration is better in ff 16? Weapons? Side quest? Open areas? I’m not saying that ff7r have the best of those things, but 16 really tries hard to be bad in those things
@@badrbattiouimade by a stupid MMO team. Ofc 16 lacked in a lot of places
@@badrbattioui Exploring in FF7 Rebirth quickly became boring, these UBISOFT towers made no sense, they simply ruined the exploration and without activating these towers you can't do the missions. The side quests that were associated with mini games are now no better than the side quests of FFXVI where you learn more of the story. The world of FFVII Rebirth was bigger, but you couldn't explore that much, it was always the same tasks. The only problem with FFXVI was that you couldn't go into any houses, no matter which village or city, you could only walk through them.
Graphically FF16 wins, FF7 can look that good in small instances but with open world obviously loading all them resources takes it toll. Loved both, spoiled as an FF fan ❤
