To all who question lore wise how did Cloud got such a surprise attack on Sephiroth is because Sephiroth got a mild concussion from all those icecubes dropping in his head
Cloud also had Pre-Emptive materia equipped.
Hahahahahaahah
@@bochka220 hes not kidding. When you plat the flashback scene in the OG game that materia is on the buster sword
@@bsaintnycThe flashback where it was actually Zack all along, not Cloud. Cloud never had the materia. He snuck up on Sephiroth because Sephiroth was extremely focused on Jenova. He ignored Zack too until he was called out.
@@malibutaa wasnt the materia on the buster sword?
I'm glad Cloud was smart enough not to scream out a warning before attacking Sephiroth from behind. :D
4:04 There's something hilarious seeing Sephiroth landing with a cinematic camera angle then it immediately changes to a default ingame one just to see Zack fall to the ground.
Thought I was the only one
HAHAHAHHAHAHAAHA does that happens all the time?

Sephiroth boss fight expectation: Intense sword battle.
Actual Sephiroth Boss fight: *ICE MACHINE GO BRRRRRR*
I actually like Tyler Hoechin’s Sephiroth. While not as cold, calculating, and hateful as Newbern’s, his voice makes him seem so grandiose and imposing. He does have his moments though that make him sound like Newbern such as at 1:27. The laugh beforehand was also pretty good too.
The problem is it’s still not good and not it’s not iconic at all. It’s a poor man’s newbern. Newbern captured the full gravitas while Hoechlin just sounds like young xehanort
@@TheCoachTex You’re trippin BIG time to say he isn’t at all good. Also sounds nothing like Young Xehanort lol, that’s a weird voice to compare him to.
@@AsbelLhant100 No I ain’t. Hoechlin is flat as sephiroth and gives off generic emo vibes and his voice is more fit for young xehanort than it is for the otherworldly tragic super soldier.
@@TheCoachTex I mean OG seph is a perfect villain voice but he never really got the whole tragedy thing down
@@stevelopez6957Either you never played crisis core before or you tripping. Newbern in Crisis core made him powerful yet still caring and showed that
Now i only realize that Cloud can jump so high and slash like a true Soldier, but he is only a grunt this time make me so impressive about him and his strengh. Idk why cloud can't be a Soldier with this strengh.
Some things imply that Cloud didn’t make it because of his low self esteem. In Before Crisis, they say that his skill with a sword is better than everyone else’s. Also, this is why Hojo decides to experiment on Cloud. It is still weird that he can get thrown off by Hollander though lmao. Since Hollander is Angela’s dad, maybe he knows how to fight a little lol.
@@sakonan4883 I always took it as cloud only really bloomed under Zack and his guidance during the mission to capture hollander he hadnt gotten any special training under Zack.
It seems to be his mind that is the issue. Cloud physically is perfect for SOLDIER but mentally he is not up there. Most likely because he is 14 and a few months when he joined and met zack. Cloud is born in August and the Nieblhiem mission is in September so he barely turned 15 when it happened and the incident is October 1st.
To give perspective Zack is 13 when he leaves to join SOLDIER and when we meet him in Crisis core he is 16 and he makes 1st close to when he is 17.
So chances are good Cloud just needed some experience before he was ready and he got that experience when Sephiroth lost his marbles.
Cloud's mental problems was the reason he didn't make it he had a inferiority complex.
@@revanninja No. The soldier program selection is based entirely on how compatible your body to mako alone so your head canon is entirely wrong.
Zack: Did sephiroth do this to you?
Tifa: (LITERALLY Starts moaning 💀) 0:07
lmao 😂 shirakun pls mod this 😂 hurt my ear
Im still impressed that Cloud lifted the sword and leaped that high with it BEFORE he was a SOLDIER
Cloud never was in soldier
@@abc4781 Well, in his own head, but thats not his fault.
And he was better than the rest anyway.
@@antcow1239 I get that but he still wasn't in soldier lol
@@abc4781 I know, more a shame on SOLDIER actually to pass him up, then Cloud powers up beyond all of them XD
Before Crisis points out that Cloud is reasonably strong & has an incredible proficiency with a sword. The main reason he never made SOLDIER was b/c of his lack of self confidence causing him to never display his talents fully. When he was defending Tifa and Zack from Sephiroth, it was do or die. He had no choice there, he simply *did*.
Note: At the beginning of the video on the PSP all you could hear is the music. Man I still love that they took the time to add new voices. (No matter if they sound good or not. Which for Tifa. Is pretty damn good)
I love how this shows how ridiculously strong Cloud always was.
He's the main character duh and Sephiroth never goes all out.
Cloud is the strongest character in this world.
Cloud is strong but not strong enough to defeat sephiroth for good, so really the strongest will be sephiroth even in defeat he’ll be back again and again
Cloud was always physical capable of being in soldier. The reason why he didn’t get in was because during the merging process with mako, his mind couldn’t overcome it and he failed.
@ethansolorzano5989 well shit it took unauthorized mako experiments an get mako posioning to make him into advent children later on
0:22 - 0:29
At least they used the original dialogue of Tifa, about "I hate them all", than the "I'am sick of all this".
If I had a nickel for everytime a Superman voices a Sephiroth, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot but it's weird it's happened twice.
To voice act the ultimate good you must also be able to voice the ultimate evil.

So did the old VA.
He's great but I loathe Zack's new VA
@@XxNightmare128xX the old Zack VA would've made the new Sephiroth VA sound younger than Zack.
Nothing against him but the bar was set really really high by the original one. It's honestly a crime they didn't get him back. If it ain't broke don't fix it.

I like how sephiroth looks at zack aproching the buster sword at him and he demonstrate by his face that he doesnt care at all
I gotta say, Cloud seems like a lot more of a cold badass than I remembered. He silently appears on screen and picks up the Buster Sword, impales Sephiroth with his helmet obscuring his face, and then even when Sephiroth does Stab him, he pushes the blade into himself and tosses him over the ledge into the life stream
I kind of don’t like we didn’t get to see Jenova’s face. That was one thing I was really looking forward to, was seeing the design for her. Whether they would make her beautiful like in the original or make her look like a monster.
Edit: from zooming in at 11:52 I can see that they’re making her probably monster looking. At least the top of her head is bald. Cue M’Baku from Wakanda Forever “You bald headed demon.”
That looks like a brain to me.
@@devgru5293 it looks like her skin to me.
@@devgru5293 And let me explain why, so I recently actually played the game and I saw it on my big ass TV, brains have lines and crevasses. The top of her head is the exact same texture as the rest of her body. There’s no brain crevasses, only veins and that weird grey texture.
@@devgru5293 and if you think about it, it makes no sense that it’s her brain. But hopefully we’ll see it in Rebirth. And I’ll come back to this comment and say I told ya so Lolol.
Maybe they're saving it for the rebirth flashback in part 2
Not a big fan of the black smoke when characters get stabbed, hopefully it's some weird tie in to the arbiters of fate and not a censorship decision
I wonder if the smoke coming out of the wounds of the characters is truly censorship OR if it ties with the whispers of fate? Like it was there way of saying "These characters normally would die here but fate has to keep them alive", thus the smoke leaving their wounds.
Cause even Sephiroth being literally impaled by something some wide would of prevented him from walking but we see the smoke coming out, as if it's keeping him together.
So maybe Reunion is us, the players, actually playing within the memory of the ghost. Maybe?
I thought so as well but it wouldn't make any sense since Cloud being stabbed by Sephiroth is a canon event. Which is why the Whispers wouldn't need to "prevent" anything.
@@alexstach8667 The turning point seems to be when they were engaging the Whisperers in Remake (Don't know for certain though, since i'm still on the final chapter of Crisis Core Reunion)
@@alexstach8667 It's fate for him to get stabbed and *survive*. Which may be endangered by Sephiroth lifting him up like a kebab. They're not making sure he isn't harmed, they're just making sure he lives.
I hate to say it, but I think the smoke is just a really lousy censorship job to make it "less graphic." They did the same thing in the Remake with replacing Jenova's blood trail with a glowing green slime trail. I'm not sure exactly what the issue is, but for whatever reason the censors seem to be more persnickety about explicit gore than they were in the 90's. I don't think there's a canon reason for why there's smoke, I think we're just supposed to accept it as "oooohhh evil magic."
Personally, I'm more hung up on how Sephiroth can walk after getting stabbed by the Buster Sword. I know it's anime and we should just accept super-soldiers walking off from otherwise fatal wounds without a scratch, but that really stretches my suspension of disbelief. I don't care how much of a super-saiyan god-soldier you are, that blade is wide enough that going through his body should be AT LEAST a guaranteed spinal severance, ergo Sephiroth shouldn't be able to walk at all. Honestly, a blade that wide should have cleaved his body in two Darth Maul style. I can accept a lot of anime bs for the sake of coolness, but that scene always pushed it a bit too far.
It's to hide weird spot in the scene. Remember, the animation is straight copied from the PSP game. The PSP scene didn't put details at being stabbed.
...the voices are forcing me to just play the psp version again LOL

It's crazy how sephiroth doesn't know his real mom
It amazes me no one but Vincent knows that it's Lucrecia Crescent.
@@thesilentcartographer5575 it just goes to show how sickening Hojo was. Him and Shinra fabricated everything for their sickening experiment.
It really shows that without the stigma of being the best soldier Sephiroth at heart seems to just be a guy who really wanted to know at least who his parents were
I was wondering if anyone caught that. Jenovah is just a being that is there. She is not his mother.
@@bossshun9 technically she is, her cells were directly implanted during seph conception. hes got 2 moms 1 dad
I missed this game, when young cloud is not ripe to fight sephiroth yet
i think the changes in the dialogue does benefit to the situation, but what i don't understand is why the still chose to place that same cutscene where Sephiroth removes the machine in front of Jenova's remains, i'm positive it can be done with in-game graphics now but they chose not to do it
FFCC was my introduction to everything FF7 related. I loved that game so much I wrote Square-Enix an email asking when was part two coming out. That was 2007. FFX-2 was my first FF game.
Damn the soundtrack is timeless i stg
12:03 Nice detail about Cloud’s chest wound: you can clearly see there’s a Whisper in there playing Favourites again.
I know they changed Zack's voice and it will never be the same as before but this new one is kinda growing on me. Really appreciate this remaster.
He kinda gives me Axel from KH vibes. Which is funny since Axel was based on Reno.
Its funny that Sephiroth boss music stays the same in this game but other bosses, including the final Genesis boss, gets remixes. How odd.
Because this theme is already a remix of a rehashed version of OWA. Plus, too many remixes already. And OWA in CC is already good as is.
@@mechalinkergaming7169 still, the game was promoted and promised us that the soundtracks are going to have remixes/arranged, and The World's Enemy, the only Sephiroth theme in this game and the only OWA varient, that doesn't have a remix is shocking and disappointing.
I was really disappointed they didnt remix world's enemy to make it seem like a more low key version of the grandiose OWA from ff7 remake
@@mechalinkergaming7169 what’s this theme called?
I'm just not feeling the new VA's Zack and Sephiroth's OG VA's were pique. I also don't care of the censorship either. Black dust clouds over stab wounds? Hiding Sephiroth carrying Jenova's head? It was said even back in the OG 2007 days of Crisis Core that the animated movie handled the fight of Zack and Cloud vs Sephiroth better and to this day it still does. I just don't understand why they continue to half ass and pussy foot around something as basic as blood.
Japanese censorship is different than North American that's why, the ending scene is unchanged though
7:20 One-Winged Angel.
Looks great but the only downgrade in this game is the censorship and voice acting
I hate that little smoke effect they added so they could easily hide the sword and character models hard clipping into one another. Other than that, the visual upgrades are very nice.
It may be a cheese strategy, but if you do side missions to level your buster sword affinity until you obtain the break damage limit ability when using buster sword stance, you can combine it with high job to perform a spammable high jump attack that combines I-Frames and the guard stance with a powerful drop ability that is great for soloing bosses like Sephiroth as well as for killing waves of enemies in single or double hits of it. With an AtK ++ materia slotted with hero drinks, Each high jump was doing 20k and change damage per, and causing 50k crits. If you dont care that you're trivializing the game? Its a game breaker
Probably better than spamming blizzara
They really should’ve put cooldowns on the materia instead of Insta spam and let the materia become fully customized
Honestly Tyler's performance as sephiroth isn't bad at all. I get it He's not George Newbern but It's still pretty good. Britt Baron has been one of the best Tifa performances by far. Cody Christian is excellent as cloud, Zack, so far has been the only one that's been kind of... Uff which is crazy cuz Caleb seems to really have improved in the rebirth scenes.
I’m impressed by this game back on psp. It had some strange feelings to me. Bought remaster version again day one and I had very different feelings seeing Cloud throwing Seph away like that in the wall. I don’t know, maybe I’m getting old. Nevertheless, it’s a must for FFVII fans. Like a piece of documentary in the entire story and the world of those wonderful characters. I only wish SE would release the rest of main game faster than the first one at least. Otherwise I may be too old to play them and forget that excitement entirely.
I know what you mean. Back on the PSP this game looked incredible and what they did with it was quite impressive, especially for a handheld system. Remaster is still pretty damn good but I understand where you were coming from with it being more impactful on the PSP
I prefer "Sephiroth, have you completely lost your mind!?" 2:24
Debatable
I miss Newbern's "superman" Sephy voice.
Sucks that they literally replaced him like that
It always comes back to here. Everything Cloud and others went through, it all comes back.
What’s the point of a sword if you don’t use it to parry blows? If you make a remaster makes sure simple things like this make sense. It’s Sephiroth we are talking about. Why would he not cancel a spell to defend himself from Zack’s flurry attacks. The cutscenes which are now inconsistent with the updated aesthetic.
Loser
Tyler Hoechin's fine, but what were they *thinking* with Zack's VA?
Edit: Yeah no I was wrong. What the hell happened between Remake and this?
What are you talking about he sounds great here
He was shitty in remake too shut up

No, these are all the same as in FFVII Remake
They are the same ones from the remake. They are on pay roll. SE wanted this remaster to be up to date with the remake's vibes. Even some of the areas have been switched over to the remakes designs
This version of One Winged Angel is SO underrated

Why does Zack's voice look like a comedic relief
I'm getting some berzerk vibes from this, Guts vs Griffith type of vibes.
I still prefer the original over reunion. People say that the combat in the original was slow but to me, slower means more strategic and having no ability meter adds to the challenge. It’s like an unexpected timer. This remaster seems to be more action-oriented because of its fast paced gameplay.

So, I have always thought that Cloud was actually never really an average human, but rather something closer to Sephiroth, even before Hojo got his hands on him... am I the only one?
There is nothing implying that. He only defeated Sephiroth with luck, adrenaline and the fact that Sephiroth was not paying any attention
@@alexstach8667 lol, would you like me to tell you all the reasons why I have this theory?
@alexstach8667 So, to recap. My theory is that Cloud was never born a normal human and that this happened either during conception or while he was in the womb. And this caused him to be something akin to Sephiroth. However, unlike Sephiroth, his abilities mostly laid dormant until Hojo experimented on him after the Nefilhem insident.
To start, we'll take a look at his genealogy and childhood. In a lot of ways, the 3 main characters of FF7 are Cloud, Arith, and Sephiroth. And while we get a fairly detailed layout of the latter two's genealogy, Cloud's is a big gaping hole. We know his mother looks a lot like him. And that Cloud never met his dad. That is literally it... many people have speculated that Cloud's dad was some sort of soilder, but that his mom is part of the Shinra family. While the theory of his mother holds some water, there's no real evidence that Cloud's father was a soldier, or that he even existed at all. After all, Cloud grew up near the Shinra mansion. It could be just as plausible that he was conceived by unnatural means.
Now, when we look at Cloud's childhood, there are a few things that stand out to me. Cloud was often ostracized by his peers, which in turn led to his complex. This could just be your average run of the mill childhood bullying. But what really stands out to me, is how Tifa's dad treats Cloud. Cloud was a small child, yet Tifa's dad treated him like he was a monster. It simply doesn't make sense, (unless FF7 writers were simply copying and pasting a Hallmark movie plot of the cliché stay-away-from-my-daughter-dad).
However, what if both the children and adults of Cloud's hometown treated him the way they did because they sensed something "off" about him? We humans are social creatures, and if we sense there is something overly different about one amongst us, we often cast them out.
Another instance that stands out is when Cloud and Tifa fell off that cliff as children. Tifa nearly died, while Cloud walked away practically unscathed... was he simply lucky... or is there another reason for this.
As we go on, we know Cloud struggled to rise through the ranks after joining Shinra. He ends up becoming acquainted with Zach and joining the team going to Nephilhem.
But I want us to stop and take a look at Zach and Sephiroth. We learn from Crisis Core that Sephiroth is extremely OP. The man goes up against 2 other Soilder 1st Class and doesn't even break a sweat. Additionally, anyone I've seen take a direct bodily hit from Sephiroth's sword is instantly killed (with the exception of Tifa).
We also learn that Zach grows to be powerful enough to defeat more than one of his fellow Soilder 1st Class members, leaving him 2nd only to Sephiroth. We also learn, that Zach is incredibly persistent and holds honor in high regard. He is not a man who easily gives up.
When these two men finally face off, Zach puts up a decent fight. However, the final blow from Sephiroth (which Zach blocks with the buster sword) is so powerful that it knocks Zach from the room and renders him unable to even pick himself up. So desperate is he to stop Sephiroth, that he implores Cloud to do it. Cloud picks up the buster sword and goes stab Sephiroth in the back.
This is where people all say that Cloud was just lucky and that Sephiroth didn't see him as a threat... but I must ask, has Sephiroth ever seen anybody as a threat? Likely not. Yet he didn't let all the weaklings around him land blows against him. Even Tifa was not spared. So, why on earth would he pay no heed to Cloud and allow him to get a lucky blow on him?
There are some other parts of this scene I find interesting.
Firstly, in Crisis Core: Reunion, when Sephiroth is stabbed by Cloud, he emits a dark mist. Likewise, when Cloud is stabbed by Sephiroth, he also emits a dark mist. This could be an aesthetic choice by the creators since they likely couldn't use blood for rating reasons. However, if this is the case, they could have easily made Cloud emit green wisps like everything else does when gravely injured. Why take the time in CC:R to add this detail and purposely make them both emit a black mist?
Secondly, after stabbing Cloud, Sephiroth becomes utterly dumbfounded in disbelief as Cloud pulls himself down the sword, lifts Sephiroth into the air (which doesn't make logical sense...), and flings him across the room with inhuman strength. Absolutely none of this scene makes sense if Cloud is merely human. It would, however, make more sense if Cloud was not. And during his fight with Sephiroth, he was able to temporarily tap into his recessive abilities to overpower Sephiroth.
After this, we know Cloud and Zach are found by Hojo, who then subjugates them to experimentation.
Zach's body rejects the experiments likely due to him having already gone through the Soilder stuff. While Cloud struggles greatly from it and is given an extreme case of mako poisoning. Hojo then deems the two as failures and promptly forgets they existed. Cloud does eventually come out of the mako poisoning but with severe memory loss and distortion. We have been shown, however, that those with that level of mako poisoning tend to enter a coma and never wake up. So, either Cloud has been ridiculously lucky... again... or something else is going on.
We see that after Cloud wakes up, he has not only gained incredible abilities but seeming knows how to effectively and efficiently use them... he also becomes so OP that he eventually defeats Sephiroth multiple times. Which, (if you believe this theory) ultimately leads Sephiroth to become obsessed with Cloud to the point many believe he has gone back in time to bodysnatch Cloud.
But how does Cloud go from being an average human to the most powerful being in FF7? More luck? Just how lucky can one man be? It doesn't add up.
My theory is that the reason Cloud had such a hard time with Hojo's experiments was because he wasn't fully human to begin with and unlike Zach, he didn't immediately reject them, but rather it triggered his long recessive abilities. But unlocking that kind of power all at once would have caused him to suffer greatly while his body slowly adapted. The end result would be that not only was his abilities unlocked but also enhanced resulting in him becoming more powerful than Sephiroth.
While my theory on Cloud is mostly conjecture and gut feeling, I've also found no evidence that disproves it either.
Either Cloud was the most lucky human to ever exist or he was never human...
What level is this? I’m playing on the hardest level and with 9000 life points and being level 36 I still don’t manage to beat him..
Wait why did zack get switched with cloud in rebirth in the same scene? I'm confused
Yes. Cloud managed to stab Sephiroth in the back in this scene, because unlike almost every other 'sneak attacks' most games or anime shows us, Cloud did not attempt the sneak attack whilst shouting like a fool. Still, Cloud is a fool, because he did not properly finish the job.
