I'm a colorado native and let me tell you the truth. it's a beautiful place and all of those telling you about the traffic? it isn't even that bad hun, try going to LA and see the traffic there. Yes living there can be expensive, but nothing like New York or like i mentioned LA. Who tf cares if you're from another state we welcome anyone. If denver seems to "full" then just go to another city like Colorado Springs. I will always love colorado and welcome anyone to come. So to answer your question, DO move here!!
ely ; Also consider Miami, Florida as one of the most expensive places to live-in. Just to mention, if by any chance someone wants to leave near the beach and be centric around the boulevards, must gotta be willing to pay between $3700 to any where $5000 for one or two bedroom apartments, no joking. Everything is going up and up in prices!
Everyone acting so entitled haha. The state doesn't belong to anyone, people are free to do as they please. I've wanted to move to Colorado ever since I was little, and now I have the opportunity, so I'm taking it. Suck it up and deal with it hahaha
+Getaway Driver the prices of living has been almost identical for me from living in PA based on my income in proportion to taxes. Colorado is a hell of a lot more beautiful than PA as well😂 Sitting on a bus for an hour to go about a mile wasn't very pleasant either. It's just the lifestyle I've been apart of. I spent most of my life in Europe and Colorado reminds me of Europe in the scenery and the lifestyle.
whos acting like they own it? come on in and join the rest of the scum and breath Denvers shit brown air, go kayak in the Platte downtown and be careful of whats in that "water", hope you make tons of money because youll need it to live here. watch your back, Try not to get your ass beat on 16th street mall. have fun driving up to our beautiful mountains on Fridays, make sure you love heavily backed up traffic and wrecks. this guy says schools and everything are safe lol, do some more research. these people doing these move to Colorado, are are blowing smoke up your you know what, They get paid. so mok$ha, suck up the pollution, dope and meth, welcome to the Mile high city.
When I first moved to Colorado Springs I stayed at the Briarglen Apts at Chapel Hills Drive, payed $600 a month for a 2bed/1 bath apt. Now it's 1,075 a month! BAM!
My husband and I are looking at moving to Denver. We currently live in Fort Worth, TX; though, I'm originally from the DC area and he's from Durango, CO. One of the things we like about Denver is that the people are open-minded, much like what I grew up with in DC. Totally understand the people saying out-of-staters are ruining Denver in that it was the same in DC--housing prices hiked and rent was way expensive. That said, the out-of-staters moving in also strengthen the economy and as much as tourists were frustrated, it was a huge economy boost for us. Your video is definitely helpful, so thanks!
Lol I love how you say "and it's dry here" in a bad way. Everyone KILLS to live in the dry climates as possible. That's why California is such a popular place to live, cause there's no humidity while in literally every other place has double the humidity. Humidity makes you feel like you literally can't breath and it's the worst feeling ever. While in dry, it's crisp air that makes you feel free, I don't know how to explain it.
Lizzy Hale I actually like to have some humidity. Miami and Hawaii is way to much for me. Colorado is too dry for me though. I hate having dry skin and chapped lips. I also have bad allergies in dry climates. I'm moving to San Diego though, that seems like it should perfect amount of humidity for me. Not too much, not too little. just righttttt. Just like the weather :)
Lizzy Hale People aren't flocking to California??? California is the most expensive and over taxed state in the union lol are you kidding me?? haha maybe in the 60s/70s/and 80s when it was affordable....you're high....Florida is amazing and it's affordable...and has better beaches compared to cali and there's no income tax....win win win
The perfect ski day in Colorado: get up at 4 am, pack your stuff the night before because you’re going to want to be to I70 before 530 am. Any later and it will be stop and go. It takes about 2 to 3 hours to get to most ski destinations. Plop down $125 for your lift ticket. Leave the Mountain no later than 2pm. It will take you 2 hours to get back to Denver. If you stay until the Mountain closes plan on a 5 hour drive do to stop and go traffic, or stay until 7 then head down. Camping: same as skiing just make sure to make reservations for your campground about 6 months in advance. All other activities, crowded crowded crowded. If you would like to move here you can get a nice two bedroom condo for $325,000. Enjoy.
Wait, what?! A 2 bedroom condo for only 325K? Wow.... I haven’t seen prices like that in Colorado for years! Maybe in Pueblo, or somewhere else no one wants to live. You are spot-on with the rest, though! To access popular hiking trails, plan to be at the trailhead before 6AM, or the parking lot will be full!
Im from Scotland, UK and currently live and work in China. Always fancied Colorado as a future place to Live and start a family as it looks beautiful and only heard good things but after reading all the comments from all the natives Im thinking twice. They dont seem to friendly or welcoming. Unbelievable. Not just 1 or 2 comments from negative people, It seems to be the majority of the natives who seem very angry and unwelcoming. Thanks for the video and opening my eyes!
Ian Howie forget them I'M Montana and Colorado plates are every where we too don't like all the out of state'rs all costs are raising and lots of drugs and users...
As a fellow English person looking to move here, I’d say that there’s a lot more patriotism in the USA and people are going to defend their state if they feel it’s been unfairly judged by someone whose been there for a month
I’m currently living in NYC for my career and have been documenting it. My boyfriend and I went to Denver for a wedding and absolutely fell in love. It’s so much less expensive than the city/east coast and the people are SO nice. It was ridiculously refreshing... and to be in the outdoors.
Aside from some of the comments left by racist and arrogant People in your video.. i like your video and insight. It's a bit crowded and expensive but I still love Denver. 👍
Friendly to active lifestyles is really the only thing I'm looking for. The mountain elevation being double or more to east coast is huge, but it's the environment conducive to active lifestyles that draws me. Can't wait to spending 2019 in Colorado
You know it really sucks what is happening to Colorado right now. I live in Arizona and we went through what you guys did, except it wasn't as bad. But we get what you guys are feeling with the whole overpopulated and the over priced problem. See if you were a Mexican or Californian or from somewhere out of state, we would freaking DESPISE you here in Arizona. Well now its okay but everything got so expensive and went down to shit. My brother lives in Colorado and he has been living there for 7 years and back then he said it was so beautiful and amazing and everyone was so nice. Until Weed was legal and people overpopulated it and destroyed the scenery and the green nature of Colorado. It's actually really sad, I can't visit my brother as much anymore because some people just want to live there because it's so nice. Well it ain't gonna be nice if people keep destroying it. I really hope by some miracle your state will end up fine and not end up shitty like how my state became. The only thing I really wish is to just be able to visit my brother again.
Very helpful. Considering a move from the UK and admittedly I’m mainly drawn to Denver for the Broncos initially but that isn’t enough of a reason to relocate alone and this helps to open my mind to what life could be like living there. It was nice to see an honest and balanced opinion too, not over-doing the positives to the point where it seems fake. The sneeze made me spit my drink out at work though 😄 bless you
For all these people moving here: We Coloradoans will smile and be nice, but we loathe you and pray for your departure to be as soon as possible. That being said, I hope you have a nice vacation here on your way to somewhere else.
Your video are legit. I get your point as a International student being there for two years now, I think major problem for Colorado is weed. Weed is not easy to get away, especially in Downtown or as you ride RTD. I feel dry in summer and winter
I feel really bad about the huge influx of people moving to Colorado, because I've wanted to move there since I was a kid. It's so beautiful and seemed like a quiet, nice place. So my plan of moving there because it's quiet with not too many people seems like it's tanking... I've talked to a lot of natives and I feel like I just fit in with them and with the culture. If all the people are moving there for the weed, then that's a shame :( I hope other states legalize it so they can all move elsewhere lol Nice video, Ethan! Lots of great info!
I'm from Argentina, now living in Salt lake,Utah.Always wanted to move to Colorodo, because it looks like nice with many interesting stuff, but now reading comments people fron Colorado don't look like nice people:(now i don't feel like moving to Colorado
matthew reid nothing is stopping me from moving to springs in couple years I want to be more outdoor active & Colorado is so beautiful I'm moving for all the right reasons: 1. Outdoor beauty & activities 2. Weather #winterbaby 3. Good hospitals
Your interactions with Internet culture and Colorado culture is probably going to vary by a lot. You'd probably be better off visiting for a couple weeks.
Denver is literally perfect. Close to mountains and many outdoor activities while also getting a big city vibe. While it does get cold, Denver is actually quite moderate throughout the winter. They can get snow one day and the next day it'll be 60 and sunny. And they have no humidity! I would love to not have to sweat another day in my life lol
My boyfriend lived in Denver for a Decade and has a daughter there. He wants to move back to be close to his daughter, and I'm going with him. Before now I never wanted to live in Denver per-say, I've always thought about California as an alternative to home, but I've liked it every time we've visited. And all of my boyfriend's friends that are Denver natives are SUPER nice. I'm looking forward to moving there now. We certainly aren't moving there for the legal pot, but I do have MS, so it's an added bonus.
I love outdoor activities like hiking and kayaking and snowboarding! I'd probably love it there, here in NJ is pretty boring unless you go up towards the Appalachian mountains. I hate city life like shopping and all that BS so I'd probably like the suburb area. Tech jobs seem to be booming over there which is good for me cause I'm into IT and web development
Rent in Denver is doubling and the city is considering rent controls. Move here but bring a lot of cash as there will be vacancies due to residents being priced out since wages ares are always low as well. Sun shining does not do shit for you when temperature is 20. Plus half of the state is high desert, plains with high winds most of the year then hot in summer until afternoon then cloudy and buckets of rain.
I love hiking, kayaking, camping and anything outdoors I live in Florida and I am getting sick of the heat and the fact that we have no mountains. We have 4 seasons in the state of Florida. We have calm hot, extra hot, BURNING FLAMES and our 2-week winter where the temperature will drop anywhere from 60 to 50 degrees Fahrenheit.
I feel you man. I am so done with the hot humidity. I have money saved and I'm ready to go! I am considering Oregon and WA as well. The mountains of Western NC would be perfect, but legal cannabis is important to me...good luck getting out of FL! :)
i should let you know that Colorado is not a country,NOT AT ALL,it is apart of the USA,which has Mississippi,meaning... you leave in the same country that Anthony is from, all in all though,if you dont want people in your state or as i ment to say... "country"then... well,MAKE IT INTO A COUNTRY! after all,Colorado has been wanting to become its own country since obama was elected so heres your chance,so that way no one can come in to Colorado anymore, there!happy? :)
You're fucking stupid bro. "We?" "Y'all" Who the fuck are you? Are you even from Colorado?? Are you the owner of Colorado? Nah, just some low-life. @Jozeph Latino Reyes
All points made in this video are spot on. Positive and negative. But as a Colorado native dealing with the influx of people I'd like to say one thing... Please stop moving here!!! My boyfriend and I both have really good jobs and it's still a struggle for us to live because of all of the people moving here and driving prices of everything up. We can't even live comfortably in our home state. It's reminiscent of NYC or LA some days. Drives that use to take us 20 minutes now take 45 minutes to an hour. It's a nightmare. And the people who are coming here are trashing the state. There's a beautiful spot in the mountains called Hanging Lake... Use to be a quiet not well known spot...now they had to CLOSE IT because there was so much trash left there. You can't even escape to the mountains anymore because EVERY ONE is escaping to the mountains. You have to actually make reservations to go camping. On the news last night they said we are gaining 10,000 A MONTH. Please. Stop. Moving. Here.
10 years ago the entire country was moving to the South East flooding to places like Charlotte N.C. and Ft Lauderdale Fl because that's where the banking industry was. It's a very obvious cycle people will flood Colorado and in next 5-7 years people will bolt due to crowds and cost of living, followed by a State wide crash economically and population wise. Then people will move to next hit spot. I've been in State for 5+yrs and I'm kicking around idea of relocating again because cost of living here is so absurd, it's more expensive than Miami and trust me there's no way it should cost what Miami does.
Have you thought about moving to Dallas or Houston? They have some very affordable places to live. Gas is pretty cheap. You can get a 1-2 bedroom apartment in the suburbs for about $700-$850 a month.
I would not recommend Houston. After a collective 9 years, I can honestly say a person attracting to living in CO would not like it here. The reasons for me are countless, but.... a short list. Swamp nuts year-round, no zoning laws = Bobs muffler is in you back yard. (just street view Houston (outside of downtown)). I have a gravel pit, several junk yards, trailer parks and other dumpy industrial areas businesses very near my suburban home. Rent is not that cheap either, which makes little sense since housing is pretty affordable. This place is never been good (lived here in '91, '93, '95, 2006, and the last 2.5 years. It still fucking stinks, which goes to show, not much changes around here. Think driving is bad in CO?? You have no idea, honestly. I gave up riding my motorcycle entirely since moving here. The roads, signage, and drivers are all tremendously hazardous. My car insurance went up 25% when I moved here. It remained the same when I moved to Phoenix from Denver, but jumped way up the day I moved to Houston. After a few months, it didn't take long to figure out why. Take Dallas, Austin, San Antonio, anywhere else. Uggh.
I've lived in Huntsville, Al for about 9 yrs. Its progressively changing. It used to be just military and NASA, but there's so much more. Hunting, fishing, trails...We have 3 colleges. We are a hub to Nashville(2hrs away) to Chattanooga(3hrs), to Atlanta(4hrs away) and not very far from the beaches. The cost of living is less, though Madison continues to raise mortgages. Its half the people of Aurora or even places like Austin, Portland, etc.
+Pamela Columbo Ah please, get over yourself. It's like that everywhere. You should try living in Florida. We get people from every state running away from the cold. People need to stop having babies that's why.
VF Corporation is relocating My family and I to Denver. Cant wait, so tired of the bay area prices. We make 125 grand a year between me and the Hubby. Were considered poor in the Bay Area.
@@openbob6656 True. I was born and raised in Miami and now I'm in Los Angeles. I can tell you from experience that diversity is definitely not a pro. The rioting just being the latest example of that.
This sucks so bad. I was born in Boulder, lived between Colorado, Texas and Louisiana throughout my lifetime. I'm 42, and FINALLY able to follow my dream and move back home, and now I'm not even sure I WANT to be there anymore
I’ve lived in Michigan all my 22 years of life. Love it here. Tons of water to fish on and so much greenery especially in the upper peninsula where there is no one. Just quiet natural green mountainous areas. I’ve always loved the mountains and have thought of living in Colorado cause it is a gorgeous state but now seeing the comments.. tons of people moving in many of which sound like they don’t respect nature and sound annoying, I think I might stay here. Or go farther west. Maybe Utah or Montana.
well done a good balance and good points. I am from southern Rhode Island and been in Denver since 79. I love it but all of the great things have changed it is a hugely liberal area many Millennials and a lot of attitude. This Colorado cool thing always and today people sit in the left lane on purpose so you can't get by it's just too much for me. Rodger up people would notice you and get out of the way if they weren't out of the way already. I'm planning to leave I don't want anything to do with marijuana tired of the high prices and this city is like a fabricated make pretend life.. everything costs money to do. too many rules too many video cameras too many square miles of concrete. I love the sunshine and the ability to make money doing just about anything which is good for people in these little towns in Michigan and South Dakota who have nothing to rely on. but I'm looking for a place to go. think I want to get back near the ocean the mountains never really did it for me anyway. Thank you for your continued support
I'm seriously considering for a deputy sheriff position with the Denver Sheriff's Office and moving back to Colorado. I lived in Colorado from 1984 to 2012 and loved the mountains, natural beauty, having seasons, world class cycling, snowboarding, other outdoor sports and cool weather.
Considering the population of Colorado compared to states that actually are crowded, no one should be complaining about people moving in. My sister and I are considering moving there from Florida. Maybe not necessarily Denver, but somewhere in Colorado would be nice.
I'm from New Orleans, and I hate it here. Disgusting year round. Yesterday it was 30 degrees, today it's almost 70, and the humidity is terrible. There's no views down here except the city, so I'll take Denver, thanks.
I have lived in Austin my whole life; cost of living here is comparable to Denver. It is growing just as fast which brings the cost of living up. Biggest CON with living here is horrible infrastructure. The citizens will complain about traffic but refuse to help pay for rail systems of any sort, ride sharing etc. So bring your bike, scooter and car. lol
Very Cool Ethan- I enjoyed your humble perspective on it- very honest. I've only visited Denver/Thorton area once, I'm looking to study at Univ. of Denver lol but i'd need in state tuition (paying my own way!) From what I seen in CO-- amazing beauty no doubt!, outdoorsy people, craft beers galore! haha and similarly to a comment below, I felt a bit jaded cause of the aggressiveness toward non-natives, its un-like anywhere else when usually if someone is from elsewhere, people are interested in that... "like no way! whats it like in _____Pennsylvania!?" haha, but instead, I felt if you werent a 'Native' people had this attitude like don't overdue your stay! when thats unfortunate. Either way- ill try to look for the positive when im out there again and forget about the few ppl who were like that. Wishing you the best in your travels! Cheers!
When I graduate from college I plan on moving to Denver. I am from Charlotte North Carolina and it just has gotten too crazy for my taste. I love the mountains and the culture that comes with it and alot of rock/metal concerts come to Denver which is sweet. I think the people of Colorado who tells others not to move here are just pissed off about all the people that move there because of weed. In the next few years I will go to college in the mountains of North Carolina. That should prepare me better. Denver and surrounding areas is awesome. I think the rise of prices go with being in a major city because Charlotte North Carolina is dealing with that as well.
Have you lived here your entire life, or did you just move? Cause if you lived here your entire life I think it's clear that Denver is getting worse and worse!
just found this video and found it to be very helpful! how is the industrial workforce? my husband is about to be done with school and we are looking to relocate but he is looking for work in a more "plant/industrial" type work place. we arent sure where to begin our search, we are a young family of 3 and love the outdoors.
I live in Norway and I'm really thinking about moving to Denver. Nor because of the weed... But because I feel it's the best city to be in if one was to move to the US. I find it hard to be in Norway because of the people and culture here and that people might me more open and easier to be friends with over the pond, maybe?
As a 4G native, I can say we understand we can't stop the influx. It helps if you drive wisely in the snow. Don't move here, get an SUV, and assume you're invincible. Likewise, don't let the snow scare you down to a crawl either. Don't trash our parks. Don't trash our teams. Don't do dumb things while skiing/snowboarding. Don't scrape our cute old homes and replace every square foot of the lot with an ugly modern, stucco "home" that resembles a dentists office building. (I'm talking to you, Californians.) Our license plate stickers go on the bottom corners. (Again, talking to you Californians.) Respect the Casa Bonita. Respect Blucifer. Blucifer was here before you. And lastly, it is ColoradANS. Not Coloradoans.
Ive been in colorado over 20 years from the miami area Regarding your cons. 1) The weather comments are completely subjective. If you live in arizona, then colorado would have cool summers. If youre from chicago, colorado winters are cake 2) Yes there are over 300 days of sunshine per year. Calling that bullshit is intellectually dishonest. Im outdoors regularly and confirmed, we have over 300 days a year of sunshine
You can't be thinking Denver is a marijuana city just cause that's what the news says. You actually have to be there to make valid opinion on it. Mine is that it's safe and you wont get harmed. Aslo that its probably one of the best States.
Is Denver supportive of small businesses? I lived in Colorado Springs for 3 1/2 years and thought it was ok. We moved back to idaho but considering on moving back.. note that we are considering. I didn't like the cold, I prefer warm.. but I'm looking for places that support local small businesses because I am starting a business plan and want to get any information that I can. Of all cities you've lived in, which do you like most?
What about the overgrown Suburb to the south Colorado Springs? I was just in Colorado for the first time 2 weeks ago. I flew into Denver but mainly was in Colorado Springs.. To me it felt like a overgrown Suburb of Denver but It still had creature of its own. Love Pikes Peaks and Mantiou Spring and the Garden of the God. But other Than that is was a big Suburb! What do think?
Colorado Springs IS a big suburb because it's one of the most conservative "cities" in the US. Nothing but churches, chain restaurants, big box stores, and military. The nature is great though.
These comments are hilarious! Colorado is a destination spot of mine because I live in NJ and I understand the concerns sincerely because it's MUCH WORSE here.
Just found your channel. We actually are thinking about living in a different city/state for one year each...in the future. We are enjoying our state of Florida from now. We are originally from Ohio. We hear Denver has a lot of sun. I hope that is true. Ohhh just heard you say how cold it is. It is why we left Ohio to Florida :) Denver is one place we would like to spend a year in :) Maybe for 6 months(not the winter lol)
***** It's funny that you mention hurricanes. Many people think the same. One reason I didn't move sooner to Florida was because I was afraid of hurricanes. We have been here for 6 1/2 years and no hurricanes YET. I hope they keep missing us.. Car accidents are something to worry about down here as well as back in Ohio where we had all that ice. I was nearly killed twice within 3 months of each other in car accidents many years ago. I'm lucky to be alive. There are so many places in the world I'd love to see. The thing I don't like about "vacations" is that you really can't get to know a place very well. I prefer to mingle wtih the locals rather thant "tourist traps". We've been down here all this time and still finding new places to see. I can't imagine all the places to see in Colorado as far as partks, nature and wildlife goes. I don't know where life will take us but it all is VERY interesting :) lol
+Living Free Forever Birney & Raised in N.E. Florida and lived in Miami for 6+yrs Oddly enough Fl doesn't get hit with many Hurricanes. The ones that do are century makers. Stationed on N.C. coast in Military for 5yrs experienced was ground zero for 4+ hurricanes. Florida very affordable but no longer the Friendly South due to all the transplants. Colorado is unreal beautiful, it does get cold Summers are a joke because it's dry heat no real heat index plus once Sun goes down Temps plummet, only place I've lived where u can keep jacket on hand 365. In comparison Florida never cools at midnight it's still 80-90 degrees it's oppressive.
CHANCE GAUGE RYAN Great points. It is why I like to travel... to be able to experience it all. I really don't like the cold so I don't think I would stay for long periods in colder locations....It does look really beautiful though in Colorado. I only was at the Denver airport once 30 years ago when I went to Las Vegas :) so I really didn't get to see it other than fly over :)
Living Free Forever I have some injuries incurred while in Military and they do better at higher altitudes and barometric pressure, and strangely do better in cooler climates. N.C. is my 2nd home to Florida, in 2010 picked 5 places to potentially relocate to Colorado, Utah, ID, MN, Montana left Charlotte Oct 2010 for Denver to visit 40 Deg rainy leaving NC, touching down in Denver it was -10 below I was in shorts and hoody, but when I got to shuttle i commented to driver it didn't feel that cold, he said it's because more humid climates feel colder! I wouldn't let weather worry you guys about Denver, while they get cold and snow it's literally bipolar type weather snow doesn't stay and can be 60 Deg following day. It's where I live in Mountains that gets crazy snow long winters and in total you can get experience at least 5-7 days temps in the insane (-'s) double digits. My first Winter in Mtns I recall on drive to Denver my cars temp gauge showing -3 then while driving -15 (Didn't know temp gauge went that low) a week later -26 & - 32 I posted pics online because I was show shocked. You guys living in Florida are used to the transplants and mix of cultures and people, outside of Denver proper you won't find much diversity. As poster stated cost of living is offensive, I left Ft Lauderdale had 1200sf apt 2/2 real nice 2nd nicest place I lived paid $1100, in process of relocating to front Range down around Denver and a 600-700sf apt 30min from Denver is $1300-$1500, with no real amenities. The 1st apt I moved into smack dab in middle of Denver like a block away fro Baseball stadium in 2011 was $950, same place now is $2k, there's no justification in that. Hell my family attorneys refuse to allow me to purchase property in the State because they view the market as volatile, local Real Estate Execs and State Officials are saying it's going to even out, but those outside of Colorado are hedging it's going to likely cause people to flee State and subsequently cause entire market to dip greatly. Saw 2wks ago Colorado has some of the worst air quality in US , took me back that is until I read mostly caused by Ozone pollution, but there is a marked increase in pollutants from the States rapid growth. I'd say if you guys want to move here as you stated for short duration move to a Mountain town, because your moving here it mostly sounds like to experience the State and you'll have better opportunity to experience Colorado in the actual Rockies, ski, hike, Mtn biking. Military is sending back to College to re-earn Nursing licenses that were lost after my injuries so I am able to live off of my Pension and College stipend and enjoy the State, I've gotta move down to Denver area to finish up schooling, but after seeing the cost of living I'm having to now think about relocating out the State to finish, it's that bad! 3yrs ago it was 2nd to San Francisco in annual increase, last year it actually was #1. All that being said by far positives out weigh negatives, people are awesome and it's great
First of all, thank you for serving. My dad was a WW2 & Korean vet. He was at Normandy. I'm so sorry you were injured. It's funny how some people feel better in cooler weather and for me prefer the humid. We most likely will keep this home since we bouht it at the bottom. We would want to live literally downtown whatever city we choose so I can walk around to stores/restaraunts on a daily basis. We can drive out to parks and what not. We are originally from Ohio. I lived in the suburbs, near the city of Cleveland and out in the country for 10 years. I'm used to all types of people. I like experiencing different types of people and cultures. Thank you so much for the information. If I go anywhere it will only be for maybe 3 months at a time so if I don't like it it's not the end of the world. :) We won't be going anywhere for a while since our daughter is in college here for one more year at this local college. I'm happy you are going back to nursing. I have a couple of familly members in nursing. :) Thank you again. I apprecaite your time.
I love this video! Thank you for sharing. I'm thinking about traveling to Denver as a nurse but worried because they say that there's a huge drug problem there. Is it mainly educated people or is marijuana taking over?
You have said all the wrong things! Being from the hell hole you are driving threw! I came to Denver in 2013! Then it was nice welcoming. I can understand why people are mad being here before the boom. But its to the point people are so rude. I have a few that friend's are awesome here. But you will always be looked at like the non local person or strange. We from a hell hole and to be able to move to a big city for us was huge we traveled for a year before we picked here. It was a awesome thing being we travel a lot its just cheaper and we hated were we are from no one wants to travel to Alabama let alone move there. So as the nonlocal local No get the fuck out we have no room! We already bought our house. Like its hard for even friends to visit cause of this no one wants to pay $1000+ to say in a hotel for a week.
I disagree with the statement that the public transportation system is good... RTD stands for "reason to drive" or "rough tough and dangerous". Its terrible. took the lightrail a few times, wish I wouldve driven..
What is the warmest area in the Denver suburbs? And how is Pueblo, I get mixed reviews from different places? Thanks for the vid, I'm pretty sure I'm moving to CO in Sept. (from central NY, CO weather can't be worse than Rochester, NY).
Wildduckcluster Denver winters are no where near as bad or cold as upstate NY. The winters here aren't that bad and its a dry cold not a damp humid cold. The sun is usually always shining and at a mile above sea level it feels like a heat lamp on top of you. I agree with the guy in the video about the dryness. It gets bone dry here. like 10% and below humidity values during the day. Its a high desert so not a lot of trees either. Biggest advantage is cars don't rust here like NY.
I'm half Chinese. This is ridiculous. lol My aunt lives in Denver (Albion Street) and we grew up going there and to Vail. I grew up in Georgia. My sister ended up marrying a guy kinda like you from Denver and he has four adopted siblings. Either way you'd be fun to hang out with at least once. So ridiculous. What am I doing.
Ok yeah! lol I used to live in the Springs for a couple years too. I know I'll be back out in CO one day but the connections here where I grew up are worth it. I'll add you because I'm not seeing how to upload anything here on RUclips
Why i will move to colorado? Because california costs 2900 for a one bedroom! I laugh at how expensive people are saying it is! $1300 is a cake walk here!!! Nice air, people telling us not to move there...hmm...i think im going to move there!
Melody Morales Nah am being honest..... I'm trying to leave. And the education sucks. Don't even think about it. I don't smoke weed and I'm tired of cars rollin their windows down with a bunch of weed smoke coming out. And people always trying to fight somebody... 😂😂😂 It's too expensive as well, the appt look like shit.... Homes look like shit.... Jobs treat you like shit.....
Raikelle Jake I have lived in Colorado for 14 years now and your description of Colorado is 100 percent accurate. I am leaving for Vegas in a month and I hope to never, ever set foot in the state of Colorado.
Thanks for the info Ethan! My fiancé and I are relocating to Denver from New York City and are pretty excited. For us the cost of living is a major perk because NYC is SO expensive. I've lived in the East my whole life so it's a little bit scary for me but you have a lot of great advice! Thanks!
+Ethan Simonton thanks so much, Ethan! Yes, that is a good way to look at it. Haha NYC is a bit intimidating at first but you get in the flow of things. I've lived here for about 7 years and I'm originally from rural Vermont, so I think Denver would be similar. The cold is not a problem ;) advice in NYC is just to pretend like you aren't shocked by anything...because you will be.
Im from NYC area all my life as well. have been thinking about a move to colorado . I am alone.. not sure how It will be,,,. really looking for fresh air if honest.
The amount of transplants in Denver is making me dizzy. I'm seeing just about every frickin' out-of-state license plate now on a daily basis. For example, the other day, I had Texas, Iowa and Georgia all in front of me on 1-25. Some come here with an uppity attitude. I can say this since I'm a native of over 40 years. Denver was better being smaller and friendlier. Not anymore.
Just wondering about Colorado locals who complain about transplants and too many people moving in; so being a liberal open-minded state, how do you feel about immigration?
Affordable for young people? Well, unless you're OK with paying a few grand for a one BD apartment then that place is nowhere. That's why homelessness is becoming rampant = people moving in and forcing rent prices up that young people can't afford. That and pot heads that don't want to get a job flocking here.
I live in georgia and never been hunting. Most georgians have run over more deer than your average hunter we have so many deer. I understand why they hunt but don't eat deer and dont like killing shit so thats out. Would love to live in colorado to get away from the heat but still have nic sunny days.
Im genuinely considering moving to denver because living in the SF bay area is way too expensive. Those of you who live in the Denver area who don't want people moving in cuz its raising the cost of living....I understand where you're coming from. I love the bay area and would love to stay here but I can't afford to rent anything. Don't get me started on the housing market :(
Denver is still the wild west, wild animals roam thru settlements and downtown Denver, heck just last week my neighbor was killed by a pack of wolves while feeding her chickens. I don't recommend anyone move here, it's real bad. I've heard Pueblo and Colorado Springs are really nice, that's where I am moving next.
the job market in Denver is completely saturated. traffic is out of control. the city has outgrown what its infrasturucture can handle. homeless everywhere. Stay out if you can.
yes transients everywhere - the pot laws draw drug users pan handlers migrant homeless etc. the traffic has gotten exponentially worse. I was born in Denver and am thinking about bailing its gotten so bad. STAY OUT
T.J. Daly i applied to a couple of colleges there because i wanted to start a whole new life far from my family. do you think it would be wiser if all other states legalized weed? maybe that's why people are flocking there. or is there some other reason?
I worked with a guy who would relocate diffrent refugees in Aurora hr worked for the government, they donate them furniture and set them up in a apartment and pick them up from the airport. that was 8 years ago. Not sure how it works anymore
***** That is good to know. I always loved the sounds of trains as a kid...helps me sleep...just like lawnmowers or planes....call me weird lol :) As long as I can walk everywhere and not drive I'm good. I hate driving....that is why if we live there I want to walk across the street and jump on the train or tax or bus or just walk the city as long as it's safe :) It would be something different for us to live in a downtown district. That is what we are looking for...something different one day :) I might have to keep our house here. I DO love it here in Florida :)
Hugo Bopp The sound of cars, trains and planes don't bother me...actually helps me sleep better but I don't want to listen to loud people on the street. Is this place near bars/nightclubs or something? I saw more affordable, smaller units with good reviews. I think one just needs to look around :)
Oh yeah.. LODO... great place to live.. if you don't mind a history of racial violence. AKA - If you're not black you might have the shit beat outta you. Don't walk around at night. But.... maybe all that gentrification will help you out with not being put in the hospital.
Thank you
ely ; I laugh at all these people complaining cuz I grew up in NYC, your problems aren’t problems
ely ; Also consider Miami, Florida as one of the most expensive places to live-in. Just to mention, if by any chance someone wants to leave near the beach and be centric around the boulevards, must gotta be willing to pay between $3700 to any where $5000 for one or two bedroom apartments, no joking. Everything is going up and up in prices!
*sniffles* thank you. I’m coming.
The first person from Colorado who doesn’t say “stay out we’re full” your a legend 🙏🏻
I'm a native , please feel free to come love our state idk why people are so salty
Dylan Raskay ikr
Bro they're ruining everything. It's easy to see if you live in Denver, but if you live in a surrounding city that is less popular I understand.
Keshaire!!! I live in lodo
Bullshit. Me too!
Please take me I hate dc
Everyone acting so entitled haha. The state doesn't belong to anyone, people are free to do as they please. I've wanted to move to Colorado ever since I was little, and now I have the opportunity, so I'm taking it. Suck it up and deal with it hahaha
exactly lmao like all these people own the fucking state!
MokSha. Colorado is a wonderful state -- just don't more to Denver. It's not safe, and the mayor gives preference to illegals.
Jason's Frontier Thats not how Denver/Colorado is
When I first moved to Colorado Springs I stayed at the Briarglen Apts at Chapel Hills Drive, payed $600 a month for a 2bed/1 bath apt. Now it's 1,075 a month! BAM!
CycleCruza I mean I pay almost 900 for a studio all the way here in Delaware, not including utilities. And parking
WOW 600 A MONTH THAT WAS THE GOOD OLD DAYS 😀🤲
My husband and I are looking at moving to Denver. We currently live in Fort Worth, TX; though, I'm originally from the DC area and he's from Durango, CO. One of the things we like about Denver is that the people are open-minded, much like what I grew up with in DC. Totally understand the people saying out-of-staters are ruining Denver in that it was the same in DC--housing prices hiked and rent was way expensive. That said, the out-of-staters moving in also strengthen the economy and as much as tourists were frustrated, it was a huge economy boost for us. Your video is definitely helpful, so thanks!
Denver? Good luck! Seriously.
Lizzy Hale glad to hear you're moving there rather than Denver hope others take you're advice :)
Lizzy Hale I can say when I recently went to Colorado my skin was so dry and my lips were so chapped it was horrible btw I live in Texas lol
thats because of the brown/orange crap pollution
Enjoy.
justhays whatt? 125$ for a day using the lift ?
Colorado especially Denver is overrun and the natives can't keep up
Wait, what?!
The bad thing is that the whole planet hate men lol
No don't more here you'll regret it!!!! Seriously!
As a fellow English person looking to move here, I’d say that there’s a lot more patriotism in the USA and people are going to defend their state if they feel it’s been unfairly judged by someone whose been there for a month
joyinjesus why?
Love how he thinks that 90 degrees is hot. It can get to 110 degrees in Phoenix in the summer. 90 degree days here are a blessing.
ikr lmfao
I've lived in Florida for 22 years and went to Denver for a week in mid July and it was so damn cool there compared to what I'm used to down here.
Are all Floridians geniuses like you?
I’m currently living in NYC for my career and have been documenting it. My boyfriend and I went to Denver for a wedding and absolutely fell in love. It’s so much less expensive than the city/east coast and the people are SO nice. It was ridiculously refreshing... and to be in the outdoors.
rofl people in denver think they got it bad. try south florida. its hell down here, in every aspect.
literally hate it here in FL
I live in Miami and its unlivable....I look at Denver and its amazing compared to the economy in Florida.......
same, thats why i wanna move to denver
lol i live in Melbourne and i agree its ass and ive
lived in 5 different states
People don't know how good they have it, the economy and most other things in FL suck compared to most states. I'd move to Colorado quick lol
Rupert Floyd what kind of a name is Rupert lol sorry I’m totally off topic but damn 😂
The sneeze made me spit my drink out at work though 😄 bless you
moving to Denver in hopefully under a year....feels so good to have all these people with open arms ready to embrace new outsiders 🤗🤗🤗
Honestly, not all natives are.
For all these people moving here: We Coloradoans will smile and be nice, but we loathe you and pray for your departure to be as soon as possible. That being said, I hope you have a nice vacation here on your way to somewhere else.
hahahaha
Thanks for this video incredibly helpful Cost of living is low for an East Coast gal looking for friendly, chill, outdoor folks. Change is worth it!
Lots of great info!
not dc
You can not buy pot recreationally in dc
Go to dc and try and buy pot. post a video
I said you can't buy pot recreationally in DC. You just proved my point.
Amanda M i lived there as a kid now that i'm there it's filled with shit heads who smoke weed all day
I'm from Argentina, now living in Salt lake,Utah.Always wanted to move to Colorodo, because it looks like nice with many interesting stuff, but now reading comments people fron Colorado don't look like nice people:(now i don't feel like moving to Colorado
matthew reid nothing is stopping me from moving to springs in couple years I want to be more outdoor active & Colorado is so beautiful I'm moving for all the right reasons: 1. Outdoor beauty & activities 2. Weather #winterbaby 3. Good hospitals
Don’t let people on a RUclips videos dictate your life. Hellllll no.
RUclips comments are literally the devil's armpit
For real
Your interactions with Internet culture and Colorado culture is probably going to vary by a lot. You'd probably be better off visiting for a couple weeks.
Great post!!! Thank you for all the info, you really did address all the major issues and questions I had. Awesome job my friend!
Great video Ethan, now I learned what is life like living in Denver about the good and bad. Hope to move to this city someday.
As a Denver Native, I'm ecstatic that my city is on the map the way it is. Come enjoy my beautiful state.
JAYZUPP this
moving to denver or colorado springs from ohio by the end of the year, bless you with some midwest presence
I love hiking, kayaking, camping and anything outdoors
I live in Florida and I am getting sick of the heat and the fact that we have no mountains.
me and my whole family are moving to Denver next year. it's 15 of us. I'm so excited and I can't wait to leave Mississippi
i should let you know that Colorado is not a country,NOT AT ALL,it is apart of the USA,which has Mississippi,meaning... you leave in the same country that Anthony is from, all in all though,if you dont want people in your state or as i ment to say... "country"then... well,MAKE IT INTO A COUNTRY! after all,Colorado has been wanting to become its own country since obama was elected so heres your chance,so that way no one can come in to Colorado anymore, there!happy? :)
Wait.....15?!
Anthony Oliver how do you and your family like living there?
god dammit.
Swirlceee Sherry if you don’t mind me asking, how is it? In the Bay Area currently. Make $142K a year and barely making it. Thinking about Denver....
18:51 that's not a con, that's a pro. That's part of why I'm considering the state as a whole.
agreed. seems like this guy wants to live in a crime-ridden democrat cesspit
@@openbob6656 True. I was born and raised in Miami and now I'm in Los Angeles. I can tell you from experience that diversity is definitely not a pro.
The rioting just being the latest example of that.
I want to move back to Colorado because its so beautiful there 😫 sucks a lot of people are moving there for the weed and ruining it
tee hee!!
Maybe Utah or Montana.
utah is beautiful
Awesome thanks bro im moving from Philadelphia sick of it moving from east coast I want to live in a peace place God bless u bro hope I see u around
philly is cold and dangerous, similar to nyc but i would say worse
I live in Wilmington Delaware, 30 minutes from philly. Looking for a change myself.
my uncle used to live in litteton! i used to go there as a kid and loved it, he lived like a mile from columbine i think
well done a good balance and good points.
Lmao you dont wanna be pigging in Denver right now. Its wayyyyyy different since Amendment 64
If you plan on moving to Colorado, look into the suburbs north of Denver... (Thornton, Brighton, Westminster, etc) great areas 😸
This is a great review, very helpful. Thank you very much. ill try find something for u about Austin. keep up the great job.
I think the rise of prices go with being in a major city because Charlotte North Carolina is dealing with that as well.
summer in Colorado sounds amazing. Here at El Paso TX our summers are on 110 +.
I love Denver I live there and I think it's amazing
Ive been in colorado over 20 years from the miami area
Regarding your cons.
1) The weather comments are completely subjective. If you live in arizona, then colorado would have cool summers. If youre from chicago, colorado winters are cake
2) Yes there are over 300 days of sunshine per year. Calling that bullshit is intellectually dishonest. Im outdoors regularly and confirmed, we have over 300 days a year of sunshine
So funny I’m watching this video and I’m actually from Mobile! Ironic! Very familiar with that drive you’re on!
You can't be thinking Denver is a marijuana city just cause that's what the news says. You actually have to be there to make valid opinion on it. Mine is that it's safe and you wont get harmed. Aslo that its probably one of the best States.
Are you going to make the other 11 videos? I'm considering which state to move for college and hope this helps me. Thanks!
Thanks for sharing!
i went to denver colorado and i loved it
What about the overgrown Suburb to the south Colorado Springs? I was just in Colorado for the first time 2 weeks ago. I flew into Denver but mainly was in Colorado Springs.. To me it felt like a overgrown Suburb of Denver but It still had creature of its own. Love Pikes Peaks and Mantiou Spring and the Garden of the God. But other Than that is was a big Suburb! What do think?
Colorado Springs IS a big suburb because it's one of the most conservative "cities" in the US. Nothing but churches, chain restaurants, big box stores, and military. The nature is great though.
This video was very helpful and glad you were so honest in the video....where are you residing now if you don't mind?
Any suggestions for a nice, and affordable place to rise family and live peaceful .
Thanks
+Living Free Forever
Birney & Raised in N.E.
Living Free Forever
I have some injuries incurred while in Military and they do better at higher altitudes and barometric pressure, and strangely do better in cooler climates. N.C. is my 2nd home to Florida, in 2010 picked 5 places to potentially relocate to Colorado, Utah, ID, MN, Montana left Charlotte Oct 2010 for Denver to visit 40 Deg rainy leaving NC, touching down in Denver it was -10 below I was in shorts and hoody, but when I got to shuttle i commented to driver it didn't feel that cold, he said it's because more humid climates feel colder!
If you are good luck, rent is as high as the people who moved here lmao.
kibalulu is dead classic comment
Not as bad as Cali, NYC or Chicago or Miami though
Not as high as NYC or Southern California which is where I lived so I’m good.
What is the warmest area in the Denver suburbs? And how is Pueblo, I get mixed reviews from different places? Thanks for the vid, I'm pretty sure I'm moving to CO in Sept. (from central NY, CO weather can't be worse than Rochester, NY).
***** Thanks a bunch for the info! I would like it warmer, but not with Pueblo's crime-rate, poor schools..., sadly :(
+Abq Pinkman Damn bruh. 😂
Vermont is way nicer and peaceful
Its true what you said, people from the east coast are rude, I live next to colorado new mexico
I'm considering Colorado for retirement in 7 years but I would purchase land and build a house as opposed to buy a ready made home.
6:33 You must be biased because Littleton is where the Columnbine shooting happened... I like the video and the way you talk
Ok. Hey, lets meet and get married if you're not already.
How do I post a picture? hm Would your Coloradoan fam like a half white half Asian girl :D
I hope everything worked out with you guys XD
Raikelle Jake Thing is that you're not being honest.Colorado ranks 3rd in best education in the US
Melody M Denver is so expensive compared to Kansas City. It’s a rip off
Raikelle Jake I have lived in Colorado for 14 years now and your description of Colorado is 100 percent accurate. I am leaving for Vegas in a month and I hope to never, ever set foot in the state of Colorado.
Bobby W well jokes on you lol enjoy
Decided to watch this video *after* committing to moving to Denver. haha
What happened to your other uploads that were a part of this series?
Ryan Hamilton, tragically this podcaster passed while podcasting & driving on the highway.
what are those nice and quiet neighborhoods that are good for raising children? could you name some?
South/Southwest metro is the best. Clean, good schools and low crime.
Hey Ethan I have few questions to ask about living in Colorado.
Would you rather it be 90 and dry or 90 and humid like it is here in dc
My sister just relocated to Long Island from San Diego for school. I feel so bad for her. 😂
Jenny Coombs please don't move here we Denver rights like our peace and you New Yorkers don't know how to be piceful
Glad you are here
The amount of transplants in Denver is making me dizzy.
Soon you going see New York, Connecticut, New Jersey, Maryland licensee plates :)
Im moving from Albania to come and live in Co. :)
Robert Lamb Preach! So much attitude! I miss the old Colorado born and raised since 1989
Just wondering about Colorado locals who complain about transplants and too many people moving in; so being a liberal open-minded state, how do you feel about immigration?
I live near London...the home prices atm are so cheap, idk what it was like before, I know homes for £600k here is like 3 small bedrooms
Jordan Coaten Well that's to be expected in the London area. Denver is not that bad yet.
BTW is Broomfield a nice area to live in? I plan on moving after I graduate next year.
Rich JF Very nice and very expensive as well. Be prepared for $1300 + for a one bedroom apartment
My dad lives there, he only has a 2 bedroom apartment and pays $1200 a month. If you have the money go for it, but it is pretty expensive.
The light-rail is going to most of the suburbs outside of the city this year.
Ima move here or California and start my medical and recreational center so I guess I'll have a good reason to move there
Good informative video. That sneeze made me lol!😂💦
Hey Ethan nice video.
What do you think is the best place to rent that's safe and affordable for a young couple that's on the light rail?
Affordable for young people? Well, unless you're OK with paying a few grand for a one BD apartment then that place is nowhere. That's why homelessness is becoming rampant = people moving in and forcing rent prices up that young people can't afford. That and pot heads that don't want to get a job flocking here.
+McK l thanks for the advice!
+Ethan Simonton sure I appreciate the video. Awesome thanks for the input. We really liked Arvada and Littleton.
I live in georgia and never been hunting. Most georgians have run over more deer than your average hunter we have so many deer. I understand why they hunt but don't eat deer and dont like killing shit so thats out. Would love to live in colorado to get away from the heat but still have nic sunny days.
You should of been driving out there dude! To show the scenerys in Denver.
Stay out if you can.
so there's a lot of bums on the street or? and is it really crowded?
yes transients everywhere - the pot laws draw drug users pan handlers migrant homeless etc. the traffic has gotten exponentially worse.
T.J. Daly thank you. At least your comment was insightful unlike all the other hateful comments with ppl acting like they own the state.
I highly doubt if there is homeless on the streets. what? ... they just freeze to death in the winter. not
I used to live in Denver when I was little, now my family wants to move back but it seems like it's extremely boring there lol.
I was into it until he mentioned "Aurora" and "beautiful" in the same sentence. -Denver Native since 1987
Bennie Castellano
Thats exactly what i was thinking 😂. Great views out east my ass.
I worked with a guy who would relocate diffrent refugees in Aurora hr worked for the government, they donate them furniture and set them up in a apartment and pick them up from the airport. that was 8 years ago. Not sure how it works anymore
Aurora north side is crap hole Aurora Southside is gorgeous and South East Aurora is very wealthy
What do you think about the area in Downtown that is next to the Metro? To rent. Thanks :)
+Ethan Simonton dude...you dont know shit about Colorado
your gonna wanna be rich.
But.... maybe all that gentrification will help you out with not being put in the hospital.
it disturbs me that you are making this video while driving
I'm thinking about moving there
I want to move to Colorado because of the weather and geography. I didn't know people actually moved because of the legalization of pot...
i bet the traffic in Denver is a lot better than the traffic in NYC....., but what do i know i don't live in Denver.
Andrew Flewelling traffic isn't even that bad
