im 19 been living in south florida my whole life and hate it. been dreaming about moving to colorado for as long as i can remember. hope it comes true!
My son and his friends packed up their car and went. (Also 19) (from Florida) They stayed in a hotel in Golden when they got there until they found jobs and a place to live in Breckenridge. Best thing my son ever did. He absolutely loved it.
I’m in the same boat. Been in Tampa since 2014 and have been trying to get out of here. I’m hoping this year will be the year I can move to CO. I’m even tempted to sell everything I own and my house and put my dog in the car and just drive out there.
@@Mountains4ever I’m in the exact same boat. I am in Tampa and am just tired of it. Has gotten so expensive here. I don’t see it being worth it anymore. I hope to move to CO asap
@@ChronoMune Not really. Everywhere has pros and cons - so it comes down to personal preferences. My biggest issue right now is just the lack of humidity makes static electricity a bit crazy if you have carpeted floors.
Colorado native here, along with my wife and kids. Miss the old days when there weren't as many people, traffic, and crime. It's gotten out of control here in Denver. BUT, I do love my beautiful state, and love sharing it with new people who love and respect it as well. It's easy to throw on a pack and walk into the backcountry to get away from people when I need a break.
It's "out of control" in Denver -- and Boulder/Pueblo -- because it's mostly liberal/Democrat populated -- and so Democrat-run. Try Colorado Springs...the only one of the 4 major cites in CO that at least LEANS conservative (as do most counties in CO). Issues, yes, but not "out of control." I used to live in the Springs (COS) twice but am now back in West TX (ELP), hoping in 2-3 years time the VERY expensive housing market there (whether buying or renting) -- AND mortgage interest rates (the MAIN obstacle) -- will go back down. If they do, will move back to COS and buy a town-home (Wolf Ranch or Banning-Lewis Ranch areas). But certainly wouldn't even consider living in Denver. -- BR
@T0MIN Yes, but big cites are usually Blue as well. Any connection there? Hmmm, I wonder. Same here in TX with Austin having crime issues reported more on the news now. And Albuquerque, NM as well. I occasionally travel (twice a year, during Christmas and in the Summer) through all 3 states (TX/NM/CO) -- have lived in 2 of them (TX/CO) and have spent LOTS of time in (and know my way around) NM. -- BR
@T0MIN "Besides both sides have their own problems and attract certain type of people." Yes, but Blue cities have MORE of the "certain types" of people, WAY more -- they can keep them. But thanks, anyway... As for "conservative cites" are as rare as hen's teeth (or unicorns, as liberals prefer) so we can't do an overall comparison as MOST cities are liberal/Blue. It WOULD be "informative" to compare 10 solid Blue cities to 10 solid Red cities -- but the latter number doesn't exist, not even close. In fact, I can't think of even ONE city I'd call conservative. As in Colorado, it's MAINLY the rural counties (less-populated = less voters) that are conservative, and the Springs that (only) LEANS conservative (not solidly conservative but still regularly outvoted by Pueblo, Denver & Boulder in state and national elections). But you know, that seems to be the very same pattern all across America in other states: Cities liberal; rural conservative. But no, personally I do not like purple...however, my moving to/living in even MOST expensive Boulder (IF I got into their Home Ownership Program there, the ONLY way I could get a decent property) would be "interesting" as I CARRY, and the hoplophobe Boulder locals wouldn't like that. 😞 Still, perhaps I could apply to the City of Boulder to be their official Token Conservative? I hear it pays VERY well, also...which would allow to to buy a house vs. an overly-expensive town-home as I'm limited to looking for now. I'll apply for that position soon...or is that just "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" tripping on my part? Not sure. ;-) Rocky Mountain High, -- BR
My wife and I have been living on on small farm in the Lower Blanco Valley on the Blanco River on the western Slope since 2012. We have 16 or so acres, and a grow dome and an irrigation system and we raise hay. She sells produce at the farmer's market in the summer and I play guitar in the local bars and restaurants. It's Paradise! Paradise.
Grew up in Colorado. Sure miss home. Currently in Utah, getting closer after 25+ years in Washington state. Liking the western slope as there are less people there. Colorado is truly Gods country in beauty. ❤
I am also stuck in Washington state and can’t wait to be back in Colorado. Hopefully not by way of Utah, but I guess I won’t complain too much of that happens
I love how when I read through the comments everybody's excited that has been there or wants to move there or move back there just makes me want to get there even faster
I was raised in Las Vegas. Moved to Colorado for college. Had to come back after 2 years due to covid. Have been longing to move back to Colorado ever since. It’s the happiest I’ve ever been in my life and the people are so kind and cool! I finallr made friends when I moved to CO and I made a LOT of them so easily after a lifetime of thinking nobody likes me and that I was weird. People are just shallow in Vegas. I hate it here. I’m working to move back! I’m about a year I’ll be ready :) I’m going in a work trip to Aspen in 2 days and I’m gonna enjoy the hell out of that! Till we meet again, Colorado ❤️
I lived there when I was young and it's been calling my name ever since. Now that I'm grown and have kids I'm moving there next year. Already started the planning!💚💚! I can't wait !
My husband and I visited Colorado a few years ago and absolutely fell in love. We are originally from NJ and NY and live in North Carolina now. We are planning our move to Colorado Springs in September. This video really inspires us. We also have a greyhound so we loved the pet section. Please wish us luck! Thank you for sharing the love of your home with us viewers.
Moved here nearly 50 yrs ago from WPB Fla...smartest thing I ever did. This is a great video.Good job.A hidden gem :we have world class golf all over the state.
I miss living in Colorado so much. I currently live in Louisiana, I grew up out here and originally moved to Colorado permanently before marijuana became legal and the big boom of transplants. I had to move back to Louisiana after living in Colorado for 4 years in order to help my parents. I had planned to move back in 2020 but Covid happened and unfortunately drained my savings. Now I am more than ready to move back. I lived in Colorado Springs but am debating on going back to the Springs ir elsewhere. I just need really good schools for my daughter.
Basically.. with all that influx of people over the years and crazy boom of growth in most CO cities over the past 10 years, has brought a lot of money and resources to those school districts people are moving to. SO really, any school in a newer developed part of CO usually will be rather good. CO has some really good home school programs too.
I moved to the Lafayette area, it’s relatively affordable, close to boulder/flatirons, far away enough from the city to feel more insulated yet close enough to utilize any big stores we might need. Despite the summer heat, it’s still much more pleasant than southeast Texas. I like the crisp air, the views of the flatirons put my window, and have gone on plenty of hikes
OH yeeees, Lafayette is a great area! We used to drive through there all the time. The Flatirons are gorgeous and the weather is usually pretty nice too, we agree.
I just recently moved here in Colo Springs. Unfortunately, I've been very sick since moving here (1 month ago). I've never had a worse head cold/ sinusitis and nose bleeds since being here. This has become a great challenge, and I pray this condition leaves once fall arrives. I never thought I'd have such a challenge of adjusting. Still, it's gorgeous here, I do love the fact that it's not humid here, however, those dry desert hot winds are actually adding to the problem. Dry, sore throat, bleeding dry sinuses, and dehydration are no laughing matter. The extremes of cool desert nights, and hot winds are forcing me to stay indoors. I was told that due to the unusually high amount of rainfall this year, the pollens of this area are sending scores of people to the doctor with allergies and sinusitis. I'll see what the next 3 seasons will bring. The changes my body is experiencing are very real and not for the faint of heart.
Some people just can't deal with the allergies that come with certain areas. Friend of mine moved to Florida but had such bad allergies there the Doc told her to move back to where she came from. Sometimes people just react badly to their environment.. and that sucks. When the leaves fall in autumn and dry out, that dust really affects my allergies the most throughout the year. Winter is the driest time of year too. I hope these seasons don't kick your butt so hard.
I used to live in Colorado Springs back in the 1960s. I remember it and want to visit and maybe move back. I live in Florida and hate the weather in the summer.
Heat and humidity are not my friends either. You should come back and check it out.. see how things have changed and see if you can't go back to some of the places you remember. It could be a pretty surreal moment methinks.
I've wanted to move to Colorado ever since I was a kid since I'm a mountain junkie. But now, as an adult, I suffer from Crohn's disease, and honestly, Colorado sounds like a wonderful place to get my health in order where I can live a clean life with my family. See you someday soon, Colorado!
As someone who has lived here my entire 28 years of living, I love the state. Especially downtown Denver, it has a lot to offer and Blackhawk in the mountains. However I will say that traffic is a major problem and rent prices are out of control. If you choose to move to this beautiful state, do your research lol cheers!
@@iShowUnusualBehavior Very accurate. The snow that we get along the front range is usually melted away in a few days unlike the mountain towns where it will sit from Oct to May.
Planning a move to Colorado Springs next spring from Orlando, FL. While growing up in Nebraska, Colorado was always my favorite vacation destination. Love your videos and they get me so excited to become a Colorado resident.
Great video! I'm from Canada, currently live about an hour outside of LA, and I'm looking to change things up a bit. I visited Denver and Boulder last fall and absolutely loved my time there. Hoping to go back this summer to check out Colorado Springs.
Looking into Colorado, haven't made a choice yet, I'm from South Carolina and my boyfriend is from Colorado. I've been trying to get him to move to SC because it's cheaper, little snow, low homeless people on every corner (looking at Denver and Aurora) and I've already have a home, he still lives with family. However because I love him, I'm on here giving it a lot of thought. Pros I do like that weed is legal there though, low humidity, minimum mosquitos (at least when I visited), better roads and I personally thought tap water tasted better there. It's a hard choice for us.
Where in Colorado have you been to see "better roads"? It's no possible lol Sounds like no matter what you decide. A big change might be around the corner :D
@@HashtagColoradoLife considering South Carolina's ranked number 50 for roads, someone's driveway is a better road than most of what South Carolina has lol
Great video! I've been to Colorado about 8 times over the past few years, and I think you have described life there perfectly. I'm moving there in about a month, and this video makes me more excited to be there!
Heck yeah! So exciting that you'll be moving here. Check out our free ebook that will give you a local's peek at living in Colorado. go.hashtagcoloradolife.com/considercolorado/
If you plan to move here, I recommend settling in the less populated areas of the state. The Denver metro, up the I25 corridor to Fort Collins has grown tremendously, creating urban congestion. Consider Pueblo, Trinidad, Strasburg, Fort Morgan, Grand Junction, Durango, Craig, or Rifle.
Originally from Long Island NY, 30 min from NYC, lived in Queens and Brooklyn for a while and I’m so used to a busy chaotic and hectic way of life - very excited to live in a city that matches more what I like and my vibe! The only good part is that living right next to NYC all my life means that no prices, tax rates or rent prices seem all that high to me LOL. The only thing I’m worried about is that it may seem boring compared to what I’m used to, but I love the outdoors and peace and quiet and hate living in a busy city. Moving in the next few months - nervous but excited 🙂
I will certainly be a change of pace and will be a major adjustment for sure. But it sounds like this is what you wanna do so you should fit in just fine. Just be prepared for a bit of culture shock :)
Thinking about moving out to Colorado in the next few months from Kansas city! Definitely on top of my list with the Pacific Northwest! Thanks for the video 😊
It good to see the housing market not be WHITE HOT like it was for a while.. but cost of homes still blows my mind when I look at Zillow or something for the funzies.
Agreed, we’re coming from Los Angeles so Colorado Springs is cheap by comparison, but we also looked at Oregon and Washington and Colorado fell somewhere in the middle.
I’ve been in the Springs for 8 years. You move here because you want to be on vacation, without actually having to leave the state. Day trips are your friend.😊
I currently live in Alabama. I've never been to Colorado but have always wanted to live there. It kinda scares me because majority of all my family is here and being that far away from them is kinda scary. Then again, I used to live in Virginia and North Carolina so I got used to being away from them but I guess because Colorado is so far out west is probably why it scares me a little.
The good news is that Colorado still has big ol' international airport. So getting a direct flight from anywhere to DIA is pretty easy. But some families and people grow closer when they move away. Happened to my mom when she moved from her 9 other siblings. The distance made family gatherings (when they did happen) intentional and more fulfilling for her. Distance oddly enough bridged the gap between some family members. I guess what I am saying is there will always be a silver lining in any situation and sometimes you come out the other end a better, more rounded person :)
I’m from Alabama too, and I went to Breck last year. It’s incredible. Life’s too short, find a way to make it happen! My girlfriend and I are looking at moving too. It truly was that enjoyable of a visit. Everyone is so laid back and the natural beauty of the state is surreal. Everyone just wants to chill and actually live life in Colorado (in my experience). Whereas in Alabama, you have a lot of people who concentrate on the petty things like politics, or so it seems. I love AL too, but it’s so mundane after growing up there. The good news: Colorado is only about a 2.5 hour flight from Huntsville or Birmingham. I left my house at 6 am and was walking around Denver by 10 am local time!
New sub…long time CO resident…you covered a lot & with beautiful visuals! I grew up in KS. Learned to ski @ age 16 while visiting family here. That did it for me! My extended family was instrumental in the early sixties & seventies building parts of a “little” town called Breckinridge. At that time there was one stop light, Peak Eight, & the Goldpan Saloon. 😅 The Eisenhower Tunnel was a work in progress. The pack burrow races over Hoosier Pass was a thing! Yep, seen lots of change. I was most surprised finding Peaks 6, 7, 9 & 10 had been added to that ten mile range! Our last property was in Peak Seven West. Circumstances took us out of the mountains but not out of CO. Ft Collins is now home. The advantages living here still far out weigh any disadvantages. I look forward to your other CO videos…Thanks! 🌼
Thanks so much for watching and subscribing! How fun, yes Breck has grown quite a lot over the years but it's still one of our favorite towns. Watching a pack of burrows race over Hoosier Pass sounds amazing. Wow, what great experiences over the years!
I’ve visited Colorado twice, both times in Breckenridge, and the feeling I had while there is what is calling for me to move to the state. I’ve never felt so connected to a city/state while traveling. I’m from Georgia though so I’m trying to determine if I should start by moving to a bigger city vs. Breck/a ski town. I love to ski and the culture of Breck, but figure that would be a big jump from Atlanta. Do you have any suggestions?
Thank you for this video. The pictures are gorgeous. Part of my family wants to move to CO. Id like to visit first as moving is a major issue. Im glad you have lived there all your life and love it!
Yes, I love living in Colorado and always recommend it to anyone who is thinking of living here. But visiting first sounds like a great idea. Good luck with the move! And be sure to check out our website as we have lots of resources for moving: hashtagcoloradolife.com/
I moved to Colorado Springs in July from Orlando. A few things I have noticed: 1. Cold weather. Honestly, not nearly as bad as I was thinking. I knew it would be cold but with the lack of humidity - it doesn't feel that bad as long as the wind isn't too bad. Even at -10F, not _that_ bad, honestly. 2. While the cold can be an issue, the real issue for me is the lack of humidity. Orlando had too much - Colorado has too little. This impacts skin health - so I use lip balm and lotion a lot. It also results in having static electricity issues, especially on carpeted floors. 3. It can be a bit windy here. Lack of trees means there is nothing to slow down winds coming off the mountains. It normally isn't too bad, but occasionally we can experience serious wind storms. 4. Fires. Even Florida had wildfires - but they are way more common in Colorado because of the dry climate. 5. Winter driving. If you are coming from a southern state, learning to drive in snow and ice is challenging. Thankfully, one of my vehicles is AWD - which has been great. 6. Colorado-born folks really resent you. Most are ok when I tell them I'm _not_ from California. But, honestly, the same thing was in Florida - folks would commonly tell me "we are full, go home." 7. Denver metro and to some extend Colorado Springs have growth issues, which results in bad traffic - even so, Florida was _way_ worse for more of the state. 8. Weekend ski traffic on I-70. Thankfully, since I live in the Springs, I take the back way most times. But, I also sometimes take paid leave to go skiing mid-week. 9. Fall colors are just one. They look amazing with the right backdrop but there is little diversity in the color. There are rare patches of anything but golden yellow. Still, I prefer the colors of the East. 10. Very little water recreation. Granted, even in Florida, I never dared swim in the lakes and even the springs were iffy. My kids didn't like the beach, so that was sorta wasted. 11. Road conditions. Yeah. Colorado roads aren't that good. The main roads/highways tend to be "ok" but surface streets can be problematic. I actually prefer it when the snow pack fills in the potholes. LOL 12. Housing. I don't know how folks do it. I make an exceptional income and I find the housing expensive here. We ended up building in Colorado Springs. Apartments weren't that hard to come by. There were plenty of options available - but we did secure one without seeing it first simply because we were in Orlando. It worked out, great unit with an excellent mountain view and pet friendly. No place is perfect. You always have trade-offs. I recommend anyone considering a move - rent for 6 months first before fully committing if you can. This was especially true in Florida - folks assume it is paradise because they come there on vacation. Florida is only paradise in the winter - but I'd rather be skiing.
What a thought out response. You are right about all the things. Colorado isn't really any better than any other place, it just might be the right place for some people. It's a trade off. The allergies thing is too true tho. Some people will come to CO and get knocked on their butts with hay fever if they aren't used to it.
As a Coloradans I don’t see anything to do here anymore and wish I lived in Florida rather than here. I love tropical weather and I love the plants in Florida.
Been livin In Sc for the past 4 years, I’m in need of some snow and a change of people 🤣🤣 recently applied to some jobs, just too see what responses I would get. 3 out of 4 responded within days. One of them wants me to come up there within the next couple weeks!! Only concern I’m having is relocating. I probably won’t be able to get a place right away, but I figured as long as I can get out there, I can make it happen when I get there. One thing I’ve learned being from Philly, is to always trust the process 💪🏾lol. Any suggestions on rooms or maybe any jobs that help with relocating?
Congrats on the new job opportunities! What city are you looking to move to and get a new job? Denver obviously is a big hub of opportunities and places to live. I just purchased land in Colorado as I would like to move there in near future to escape rat race and live simpler and more outdoorsy lifestyle. Throughout the process of land buying I was met with slight hostility from Colorado folks ( probably due to the fact that I currently reside in one of the most hated states -California). I get it! But not all Californians are on a mission to destroy other states. I visited Colorado twice in the past and I absolutely love it. It's a beautiful state.
Ive been wanting to leave CA for some time as well. Whenever I'm ok a family trip out of state I always tell them to day we are from Texas ..... Never California and never LA
It's true that there are a lot more tourists and a much higher cost of living than it used to be in past decades. But I suppose other parts of America are experiencing the exact same thing.
Moving here from north California, very excited but also nervous, i hope things work out and its the right decision. Im more so nervous about not having friends at first. Although making friends hasnt ever been a problem for me
Lean into it. Anytime I read a comment here about people wanting to move to CO, I can't encourage it enough. I find moving to be a great way to reinvent oneself. Like "new location, new you".
@@HashtagColoradoLife wow i really appreciate that, that gave me more confidence. Im excited to get a fresh start go somewhere with no bad memories or experiences
What a great opportunity! Moving to Colorado is so fun, we hope you enjoy it. Living in any of the Front Range cities isn't too bad and doesn't require you to live in the mountains every day. Hope this helps!
I'm actually from Romania. Married my husband from California in 2017, and we've been living here since. I never really liked California, maybe because growing up we had all 4 seasons, not just one 😂. For a little while now, Colorado's been on my mind... This coming December, i want to visit Georgetown, CO... I heard it's very christmasy....side note: I LOVE CHRISTMAS ❤ If you know of a great Christmasy town, please let me know 😊. Thank you for the video 😁
Oh ho ho. If you like Xmas, then I have a place for you! West of Colorado Springs is an open year round amusement park called The North Pole. The place has Santa's workshop and full of that Christmas spirit. Especially in winter around the holidays the place comes to life. But Georgetown is equally as festive when it comes to Xmas! And I 100% can relate to the lack of seasons thing. It's so strange to be in a place that is just the same more or less year round.
I like the low humidity, low property taxes and low car insurance (l'm from Michigan we have one of the highest car insurance) . If you own your house you probably can get by for pretty low income.
is crazy im from philadelphia and i been in denver 32 times only to smoke love that place it became my second home not only because of the weed good people plus a lot of things to do see you soon denver
Oh that's an interesting topic for sure. We don't have any pets ourselves but there are loads of dogs in Colorado and they seem to do really well with the climate and altitude!
@@HashtagColoradoLife Yes of course! And I still wanna be close to my family so I like how Colorado is closer to Arizona yet so beautiful! What parts of Colorado are best to move to?
@@ChrisB_-sj1xg Colorado is a big state so there is a climate and area that speaks to each person differently from big metropolis (Denver) to utter seclusion in the mountains if you want it.
@@HashtagColoradoLife I see, if I were to choose the secluded mountains, how far would that be from grocery stores and all that other stuff? What Move would you make?
@@ChrisB_-sj1xg I mean... you can go live in Route county and be hours from the nearest store and your nearest neighbor is a bear. I can't really answer your questions tho cause (like I said) CO is big. I don't know what you are looking for or where you would want to be. You can live in the city, the suburbs, the sticks, the mountains, the woods, the plains, the beach and everything in between in CO. Throw a dart at a map lol
It is insane. Aspen recently opened a retail strip mall in the town and they have signs on the outside looking for employees "starts at $13 and hour". And I am thinking, who in the world can afford to live in Aspen on that wage? I get that mountain towns are harder to access and ship goods to along with other factors that up the cost of living. But it seems like a bit extreme currently.
Movers just packed up my stuff. After 12 years around NY metro area I got a new job in Denver :] At least I've visited a couple times so I know I'll be happy with the cleaner air and nicer people
Congratulations on your new job and new move! Best of luck to you. Denver is a great place to live and very central to lots of things to do in the state.
Hmm… I don’t know about that. I live in northern Colorado. When neighbors move out and put their house up for sale, houses usually sells under a month. There was a corner house for sale on my block that I really liked. The owner passed away and when the house hit the market, it sold under a week. I was upset because I was actually wanting that house for my daughter who just turned 24! 🤦🏻♂️
One thing no one talks about is the altitude can affect your pet's heart health. I lost 2 dogs to heart issues due to the altitude. My last dog also developed a heart problem, but when I left, it reversed in low altitude.
It's really what the body (whether it a pet or a person) is used to -- I know people can take upwards of months to fully acclimate to high elevation. There exists a reverse altitude sickness called high-altitude de-acclimatisation syndrome that I got one time going to sea level. The doc's advice was "ascend to higher elevations". So I scrubbed the trip and went home. Sorry you lost your dogs over it. Never easy losing a pet.
@HashtagColoradoLife I'm not talking about humans. Wether they were born into it or new...low oxygen over a period of time has an effect on a small animals heart...and humans too. Just spreading an awareness for people who don't know, so thry can consider this when moving.
Colorado is a great state. Politics are pretty neutral, it's blue but not far left (maybe Boulder a little). Crime is average unless you're around the shady areas of Denver. Yeah cost of living is going up but so is the rest of the country no escaping that. Winters do get cold but unlike the Midwest it's tolerable.
We are planning on moving to Colorado Springs from Dallas in 2024. I grew up in Iowa and moved to Texas about a year ago. Texas was always my happy place and Colorado is my partners. At a young age we want to do more outdoors like kayaking, hiking, camping, and more. You videos are helping me feel more comfortable to move there.
Do it! Keep your eyes on the housing market here in CO over the next months/year. It's been pretty wild lately.. might be able to catch a REALLY good deal soon. I hope you do get to be here and do all the outdoorsy things you are hoping for! It's an incredible place to live a balanced lifestyle like you describe.
@@HashtagColoradoLife I got here a week ago and took the train on my second day. I def recommend getting the cheap seats because you'll migrate to the outdoor car no matter where your seats are. It's the only way to get the full view. Amazing and not too crowded. It's a great little town so far.
🤔 about moving to Colorado . Saw this Video 📹 & thought 🤔 #SharingIsCaring!!! Figured as a Disabled Veteran I might finally find a good Doctor in dealing with Multiple Sclerosis. Guess I'll see...
Went to Colorado for the first time last year. It's absolutely everything I'm missing in Massachusetts. I can't leave this state soon enough! (Because everything here is so expensive it's hard to save enough money to leave) 😭
My boyfriend and I are planning to move to Denver in a few months from California. I visited over the summer and fell in love! I can't wait for this change and endure everything Colorado has to offer.
I've lived in Colorado for the past 8years now from Wisconsin.. it is truly majestic and yes, God's country. Our craft beers are some of the favorite parts of traveling and sampling. It is so very expensive though, you pay to play.. The housing needs to be better for the people who live there.. not just for tourist's.. Someone's gotta spin those lifts and wait your tables and clean up your hotel rooms. More lodging going up then actual housing.. it's a problem.
@@HashtagColoradoLife Not that it isn't worth it, for the scenery and the grand escape to the backyard of possibilities.. The housing situation is what's really wrong. Not enough for the locals.
beind from colorado going back generations . its kind of sad to see so manny people changing what i love about my home town . but progress waits for no man i guess .......
I know. And some of the newcomers are cool. Also being a native, I find the lack of knowledge about outdoor etiquette disturbing if not infuriating at times. My favorite quiet getaway spots have been discorvered by transplants in their new jeeps, so that kind of sucks. I don't know how it's possible to reach some people about not trashing wilderness areas, they just don't seem to grasp the concept..
But who else is gonna bring all this fine Cajun cooking up to your beautiful state? Seriously though, I've been a Louisiana native for over 40 years and while I still love the societal culture here, the political side leaves a lot to be desired. When my wife started voicing concerns about continuing to raise our children here and a desire to get out, my mind immediately went to Colorado.
@IceNFire09, I wish a real restaurateur would open a Cajun restaurant in down town Grand Junction. The selection of dinning establishments is seriously lacking.
Where do you recommend to move for a young couple (low/mid 20’s)? We both work but don’t make any crazy money but want to experience life In Colorado at least for a few years. Somewhere safe and beautiful of course haha!
Get on Zillow and just check around in each city to get a gauge. Or look at online cost of living calculators and find a town or neighborhood that feels reasonably priced or comparable to what you already are paying. Within the front range cities, east side of town (away from mountains) will be cheaper. Look at suburbs and outside of town. Also consider, if you are not going to be home often (cause you'll be outside and exploring). Home can just be a small 1 bed apt if you spend 99% of your time out and away.
@@HashtagColoradoLife thank you so much for the insight! I started looking around but was wondering if there were any hidden gems. I’m sure there’s many out there hahahah

How do Coloradans feel about outsiders moving in? My wife and I live in Tx and we want to get out asap. We are highly considering Colorado. I’m born and raised Texan but it doesn’t seem like Texas anymore. Most 100% Texans don’t want outsiders here. Just wondering how people feel there.
People are the same everywhere it seems. People can get rather uppity when it comes to people moving to an area they consider to be "their own". And it is very much also the case here in CO. You can expect 9/10 people to be kind (or at least amicable about it) while that 1 other person will tell you to get out and you aren't welcome. Expect more or less the same response non-local folk get in TX. My suggestion tho. Boldly go for w/e you want and forget what others say. As long as you aren't an obnoxious person that gets upset at people or political views in Colorado for not being enough like Texas. Most people will be happy to see another kind face move to the state.
Im stuck in houston and i really hate it. I want to be in a small country style town in Colorado but i dont know where to even begin looking for housing. I want open land, a mile from all neighbors, dont care if its on a gravel road or if its just land, ill build my home and stay out of a rv.
My suggestions would be a simple Google search for the least populated counties in the state and use that as a jumping off point. Consider things like how close you want to be to a town/city, if the county population swells from a brief tourism seasons, the types of weather you prefer (north and south CO are just as different from one another as east and west CO is). Your goal is 100% attainable.
im graduating college soon and my family is dragging me to colorado springs after I get out of school so we can be closer together... I'm skeptical and more or less want to be a distance away from em. trying to find a nice town to live in would be nice
Colorado Springs is a really nice town and it's big enough that it could still take 30-60 minutes to drive across town. But there are also a lot of other mountain towns nearby where you can get away from your family if you want . :) Hope this helps!
Hello! I'm 19 years old and want to move to a state where I can go with almost nothing but be able to make a place for myself for the long run. do you think colorado is good for me?
Is Colorado expensive no doubt yes is it amazing yes can you ever get bored in Colorado no and if u do that’s ur fault but do be prepared u honestly need to make 80000 grand minimum between u and ur significant other to really survive and have fun
99% yes. Front wheel drive is pretty safe (all the weight of the engine on the front tires). Denver has the plows and infrastructure to maintain main streets in winter to a level that nearly all vehicles can drive. If worst comes to worst, splurging for snow tread tires should be enough as you'll have great traction in the snow.
Me & My family of 5 are coming March 2023. Originally from newport news va, I've been to FL, now in ga. I was wanting maui hawaii but I'm leaning more towards Colorado Springs. I'm a small business owner, I handmake sovenir teddy bears.
im 19 been living in south florida my whole life and hate it. been dreaming about moving to colorado for as long as i can remember. hope it comes true!
A lot of people from Florida move to Colorado and love it. I hope you can make it happen soon! It's a beautiful place to live.
My son and his friends packed up their car and went. (Also 19) (from Florida) They stayed in a hotel in Golden when they got there until they found jobs and a place to live in Breckenridge. Best thing my son ever did. He absolutely loved it.
You will love it. I used to live in Florida I hated it
I’m in the same boat.
Born and raised in Colorado and I can’t imagine moving anywhere else I absolutely love it here
Yes, I agree. I am born and raised here too and I am thankful everyday that I'm living here.
Got here in July. It took me 48 years, but I finally made it. LOL
@@JasonTaylor-po5xcwould you say there’s anything you don’t like or didn’t expect?
@@ChronoMune Not really. Everywhere has pros and cons - so it comes down to personal preferences. My biggest issue right now is just the lack of humidity makes static electricity a bit crazy if you have carpeted floors.
I want to move to Colorado, im tired of arizona
Colorado native here, along with my wife and kids. Miss the old days when there weren't as many people, traffic, and crime. It's gotten out of control here in Denver. BUT, I do love my beautiful state, and love sharing it with new people who love and respect it as well. It's easy to throw on a pack and walk into the backcountry to get away from people when I need a break.
It's nice to be able to escape the city and get out into nature whenever you feel like it. 👍
It's "out of control" in Denver -- and Boulder/Pueblo -- because it's mostly liberal/Democrat populated -- and so Democrat-run. Try Colorado Springs...the only one of the 4 major cites in CO that at least LEANS conservative (as do most counties in CO). Issues, yes, but not "out of control."
I used to live in the Springs (COS) twice but am now back in West TX (ELP), hoping in 2-3 years time the VERY expensive housing market there (whether buying or renting) -- AND mortgage interest rates (the MAIN obstacle) -- will go back down.
-- BR
@T0MIN "Besides both sides have their own problems and attract certain type of people."
Yes, but Blue cities have MORE of the "certain types" of people, WAY more -- they can keep them.
Still, perhaps I could apply to the City of Boulder to be their official Token Conservative? I hear it pays VERY well, also...which would allow to to buy a house vs. an overly-expensive town-home as I'm limited to looking for now. I'll apply for that position soon...or is that just "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" tripping on my part? Not sure. ;-)
Rocky Mountain High,

We want to move from Texas geez it’s full capacity too much crime going. I live expensive area it’s looks trash now.
Moved to the Great State of Colorado 15 years ago. One of the best decisions I've ever made.
Glad to hear it! The longer you're here the better it gets 👍
Paradise.
What an amazing life! This is one thing we love about living in Colorado. It can be as slow or fast-paced as you like it.

Utah isn't too far from Colorado. Hopefully you can come back for visits often! The area is a gorgeous place to live, we agree.
I am also stuck in Washington state and can’t wait to be back in Colorado. Hopefully not by way of Utah, but I guess I won’t complain too much of that happens
i grew up in colorado, moved away at the end of 1966, and i miss it. live in michigan, it's nice but i miss the mountains!
I love how when I read through the comments everybody's excited that has been there or wants to move there or move back there just makes me want to get there even faster
The state is a beautiful place to live, and we love every moment of it! 👍
Get it! Find where you are most happy and you can easily make it work.
I lived there when I was young and it's been calling my name ever since. Now that I'm grown and have kids I'm moving there next year. Already started the planning!💚💚! I can't wait !

I grew up and lived in Colorado Springs for 14 years . Currently in CA .. and have some goals to move back. I Sure miss Colorado alot
Yes, Colorado is an easy place to miss once you move out. Hopefully you can come back soon! Thanks for watching.
I moved to Colorado 45 yrs ago best decision of my life. Getting crowded but . . .
Everywhere seems to be getting crowded. Just more people overall. Sadly 😐
If you're thinking of moving here, understand this. ITS FREAKING WINDY! Colorado Springs, 300 days of sunshine. 355 days of wind.
Those are great points! And very, very true. Thanks for watching!
Buy some big tank humidifiers and keep them going. We keep 3 going at all times. Really helps.
Do it! With all the people that came to the state over the past years, there has been a big leap in availability of quality, healthy foods.
Traffic is SUCH A PROBLEM! The growth of the cities is too much to handle so the infrastructure falls behind. It is maddening

It's no possible lol

Colorado is magnificent. If I had the money I would move there. ❤
We agree! It's a beautiful place to live and visit. Thanks for watching!
People from East of Colorado really do love it here.
I believe most people can find beauty and contentment in just about every place they live.
It's true that since Colorado has grown so much that the traffic has increased quite a bit. It does cause delays and longer commutes.

I want to move out of Texas bc of the hot summers but the thing keeping me here is my family
Ooooof those TX summers. And when all the cicadas are out and humming and it can't be more than 114 in the shade.
Oh ya.... the good stuff

@@CoralCoveReef Lol why is that?
Don’t forget the most important thing…. A lot of money!
Yes, that is true too!
Heyyyy! I'm from Alabama and moving to Colorado is a dream of mine. Just so beautiful. 😍😍

I moved to Colorado Springs in July from Orlando.
A few things I have noticed:
But, honestly, the same thing was in Florida - folks would commonly tell me "we are full, go home."
LOL
Selling in Cali and moving to the springs in a couple months.
Looking forward to the better environment. Thanks for the vid!

I just purchased land in Colorado as I would like to move there in near future to escape rat race and live simpler and more outdoorsy lifestyle. Throughout the process of land buying I was met with slight hostility from Colorado folks ( probably due to the fact that I currently reside in one of the most hated states -California). I get it!
I may move there next month. Wife got a big career opportunity. I have severe anxiety of mountains so I hope I can get used to it and stop.
I heard it's very christmasy....side note: I LOVE CHRISTMAS ❤
If you know of a great Christmasy town, please let me know 😊.
I know this place is not in Colorado but if you love Christmas, then visit Leavenworth, Washington!
@@Gxrman1000absolutely not
I like the low humidity, low property taxes and low car insurance (l'm from Michigan we have one of the highest car insurance) . If you own your house you probably can get by for pretty low income.
Yes. Absolutely. Owning a home here has been a godsend as we have watched rent nearly double for friends and our mortgage stays the same :)
Totally get it. I got a sunburn skiing in the winter even with sunscreen in winter.
Oh yes, it hurts a lot too. Such weird tan lines in Colorado!
is crazy im from philadelphia and i been in denver 32 times only to smoke love that place it became my second home not only because of the weed good people plus a lot of things to do see you soon denver
I haven't watched the video yet but came across it while doing some research on how my dog might respond to the climate/altitude change.
Oh that's an interesting topic for sure. We don't have any pets ourselves but there are loads of dogs in Colorado and they seem to do really well with the climate and altitude!
@@HashtagColoradoLife thanks!!!!
I’m a Floridian and am waiting for the chance to call CO my home. Hopefully my wish and plans will come true.
DOOOO ITTTTT!
@@HashtagColoradoLife very well , you’ve inspired me!
Nice video, my wife and I are trying to move our way there from Arkansas!
Hope you make it here! Mountains in AR mean something else entirely in CO.
I recently moved from Ohio to Arizona and I’ve thought about moving to either Flagstaff, Arizona or Colorado when I’m financially stable enough
Well if you move to either of those places, AZ or CO they are pretty close proximity to each other for visiting!
I might move to Colorado this year to work maintenance at a ski mountain. The housing situation is insane
Yeah at least Vail resorts start every position at 20/hr but that's still not enough for the rent prices I see.
Well pollution is bad
I am coming to Colorado Springs very soon, like a few months once my house sells her in the 505 Albuquerque looking forward to the wonders
Oh how exciting! New adventures just around the corner. Have fun!
I been thinking about moving to Trinidad, CO.
Yes, Trinidad is a great place to consider living. It's also centrally located for other traveling adventures too!
The house part is funny. I've seen hundreds of houses be on sale for more than 50 days in CO, but I believe that's due to rising interest rates.
Yes, the housing market changes rapidly in Colorado, especially as spring and summer are approaching.
Just spreading an awareness for people who don't know, so thry can consider this when moving.
great and informative video, thank you.
Thanks for watching, we're glad it was helpful!
We couldn't agree more with your assessment. All very true and accurate. Thanks for watching!
Nope politics suck
Living in Silverton currently but moving to Canon City in 2 days.
Oh how fun! Good luck on your move. Have you been to the Royal Gorge Bridge yet? We are planning to take the train ride this summer. First time!
@@HashtagColoradoLife I got here a week ago and took the train on my second day. I def recommend getting the cheap seats because you'll migrate to the outdoor car no matter where your seats are. It's the only way to get the full view. Amazing and not too crowded. It's a great little town so far.
@@Nomad-yn7pv Oh nice! Colorado has a ton of train rides to take thru the mountains.. great tip about cheaper seats tho!
🤔 about moving to Colorado . Saw this Video 📹 & thought 🤔

Thanks so much for watching! All the best.
Best neighborhood and good schools, any reccomendations greatly appreciated
What city are you looking to live in for the schools and neighborhoods?
@@HashtagColoradoLife Colorado Springs or Aurora, thanks
Thanks for the video! 🎉
Thanks for watching! Are you planning to move to Colorado soon?
The housing market has slowed down since this video was put out. You can still sale your house, but not at over the asking, anymore.
It has indeed.
We are wanting to move out there basically for the outdoors. It’s so damn relaxing compared to boring ass Iowa. Smh
Colorado is a beautiful place with tons of things to do. Hopefully you never get bored here!
Went to Colorado for the first time last year. It's absolutely everything I'm missing in Massachusetts. I can't leave this state soon enough!
(Because everything here is so expensive it's hard to save enough money to leave) 😭
It's all soooooo $$$ right now. And your situation is doubled by the fact MA is verrry far away from CO
My boyfriend and I are planning to move to Denver in a few months from California. I visited over the summer and fell in love! I can't wait for this change and endure everything Colorado has to offer.
Yes! We know you will love it here. Good luck with the move. And don't forget to check out our free ebook to help you prepare!
I like your video guys😎
Thank you so much! Appreciate the support and watching our videos.
Yes it's true that Colorado is getting more expensive everyday. You definitely have to pay for the beautiful scenery and amazing things to do.
@@HashtagColoradoLife Not that it isn't worth it, for the scenery and the grand escape to the backyard of possibilities.. The housing situation is what's really wrong. Not enough for the locals.
Moving to Colorado in 2 weeks 😊
Yay! How awesome. What city are you moving to? There are so many great ones to choose from. Hoping you have a great move! Good luck.
beind from colorado going back generations . its kind of sad to see so manny people changing what i love about my home town . but progress waits for no man i guess .......
It's sad but true. The only thing that won't change in our world is that things will continue changing.
NO VACANCY
Stay where you're at!
Pretty sure people are moving here whether we stop them or not. At least we can help them leave no trace and take care of the beautiful state!
@@stratostatic We agree. A lot has changed over the years and sometimes it's sad to see what happens to nature with so many people.
We also have a guide on our blog for the best places to live as a young professional or single person! Hope this helps: hashtagcoloradolife.com/best-places-to-live-in-colorado-for-singles/
@@HashtagColoradoLife I appreciate your response!
@@HashtagColoradoLife thank you 🫡🤗
Colorado is such an amazing place to live!
Yes, we agree! What is your favorite town in Colorado?
im graduating college soon and my family is dragging me to colorado springs after I get out of school so we can be closer together...
I do for sure. If you have the determination to make CO your home, it will make a great home.
@hashtag colorado life what city is pictured at 9:13 ? 😍
Pagosa Hot Springs. Really cool, underrated hot spring. AWESOME location right on the river makes for EZPZ relaxation.
Where are the mountain towns?
We were focusing on the cities along the Front Range that still have gorgeous mountain views!
Is Colorado expensive no doubt yes is it amazing yes can you ever get bored in Colorado no and if u do that’s ur fault but do be prepared u honestly need to make 80000 grand minimum between u and ur significant other to really survive and have fun
Good point, and it's true. We have done an analysis on our blog for the total cost of living in Colorado. And it's quite expensive!
Can I keep my FWD car while living in the Denver area?
@@HashtagColoradoLife thank you
