this is a brilliant example of "it's not the gear, it's the idea". great work, i love the handheld look. people underestimate the agility that shooting handheld gives you, and you made perfect use of it.
Hey Ryan! After the beauty of the opening, I really wanted to express to you something about your inspiration you have probably already realized. We try to teach people things but the actions we take for ourselves tend to be the things we inspire people with the most. On your Davinci video, you said how you got into color more then you ever thought you would, and while everyone already knew color played a huge role in things, you are inspiring people to push themselves into one of the most beautiful things about life that is somehow ignored.......COLOR!! As you know, it even influences how we perceive lighting! And this choice you have made has made a bigger impact then some things you were trying to make a impact with! Thank you for inspiring me and others to recognize the beauty around us.
This was refreshing seeing the ZV1 in good hands. I would really love if Sony made a studio version of the ZV-1. Better build, built in lens, built in ND all day battery life!
You saw the ZV1? I just saw a dark blob with some rails. I guess it was a camera. Why can't these guys apply some Lift to the footage for a few seconds at least. It's about the camera, not the musicians.
I use the ZV-1 on my client shoots ALL THE TIME. People kinda look at me funny cause it’s a point and shoot. I use it as a BTS Cam (along with my iPhone 13 pro max) and as a B-Cam for actual shoots. I love how small it is for overhead shots or shots where my main cam can’t fit (Sony A7C). But yes the batteries SUCK! I usually use it on a gimbal (Zhiyun crane m2) but it is always a pain to take it off the gimbal to change batteries and put it back on and rebalance. It never occurred to me to create a rig and use V-mount batteries! GENIUS! After seeing your set up I for sure want to recreate this rig for my own shoots and leave the gimbal shots to my other camera. A list what items you used to create the rig with links would be helpful. Awesome video!
I've been working with the zv-1 for a while now, and its definitely been a great camera to grow with!, with the log settings and 4k, its been really freeing to not have all that many limitations while still giving me a clear direction of how to improve as a creator. I was just given a canon 550D yesterday and it amazes me at how the zv-1 is a better camera in most ways than the 550D
@@DaveKatague yea but free stuff is always good, it has been pretty fun to play with. I used to shoot on a nikon D40s when I started out so even the 550D is a nice upgrade of sorts

Really you could use any camera someone gives you and get this kind of look if you have the right knowledge and skillset. I could definitely see the halation you added in post ;)
Excellent video with excellent presentation! I love how you said that felt creative in ways that you didn't think using this smaller camera! This is great content! Keep up the great work! 👍👍
Yeah, I can relate to the custom rig you put together for your ZV-1. I threw together a somewhat improvised rig which worked out to yield excellent results. I use the SONY DSC RX 100 MK V together with an Atomos Ninja V, along with a Beachtek DXA Micro Pro mic/mixer/pre-amp/adapter to capture in Ultra HD 4K in ProRes 4:2:2 HQ in 24 bit 48 KHz audio. The end result looks and sounds really great. If you are familiar with the RX 100 family of cameras, the MK V doesn't even have an external microphone input or headphone monitor, so I record audio from both the built in stereo mics of the RX 100 camera, along with taking external audio in via the Atomos Ninja's Mic/line input. I often use the Rode Wireless GO, along with a high quality lavalier mic into the Beachtek box, then take the Stereo output from that into the Ninja V's analogue line/mic input socket. The Atomos Ninja V has much quieter, better signal to noise ratio audio pre-amps than most cameras, so the lack of mic input on the camera is circumvented by taking the main location audio in through the external recorder attached to the camera, and all is well.
Damn! Broo i didn't even realised at first , that you'll be shooting this video with this camera ! I was expecting something else but ! Appreciate your efforts towards yaa video! 💪🏽✨✅

this is great, and no offense to you of course because this has nothing to do with your skill, but you can really feel the low color bit depth on cameras like this. it's kind of a shame, wish they would start putting 10,12 bit into small cameras
Thanks a ton, and yes I definitely agree. Admittedly though, for $750 and being released in 2020, the ZV-1 is still pretty incredible. But the fact that most phones can do 10-bit now... errks me a bit. Soon hopefully...
I made a video about why this is my favorite camera. I shoot about half my videos on it just because half the time it's the better tool over a cinema camera and I take it places I wouldn't normally have a camera bag/rig

Hey! Great video! As a seasoned creator (mostly graphic and music, tho), I'm going more and more into vlogging and music video production (starting DIY for my own music project). However, the summary of costs of buying something more flexible than the iPhone 12 Pro (on Smooth 5 gimbal I got yesterday) is still something that holds me back from buying a decent full-frame, like used Sony a7III + lenses. I can repair my budget a bit and wait for a7III as I have planned, but your video inspired me to think again ;) Cheers!

@Sal Romney yes long story short it was too much for too long. I was using it in a 4 day project in NY and it gave me no problems or signs of problems (not even overheating). Then on the last day while I was filming it just cut off, it didn’t smell like anything fried or overheated but when I took it in to be serviced they told me the motherboard was toast
