this is the first true BEN scene. classic ben, and hes still henry here... dear god if only i knew what was to come of this show i would die of anticipation
What I love is that He IS one of them, but he didn’t do any of the stuff he described with ana Lucia, sayid and Charlie. So basically he just wanted to screw with their heads, make them nervous and possibly sow division between Jack and Locke. But essentially this scene is just Ben screwing with them for fun because this wasn’t his plan at all. He wanted them to find the balloon and believe his story.
Despite everything else, this is why Ben is so bad.....because he shows just how cunning he can be psychologically while at thew same time displaying two sides of his coin in less than five seconds. Heck, I remmebered this the other day and fired up this episode from the DVD set and watched only this scene, and it was worth it. The only better part (maybe) is when Sayid comes back in the next episode and says what they found.
As chilling and awesome, as this speech is, it never made much sense to me. In order to set up an ambush, the entire capture, would either have to be a premeditated plan or Ben/Henry would have needed to somehow establish communication with his people, while in captivity. His capture being premeditated doesn't make any sense within his narrative, since he goes on to say that a prisoner exchange would take place. The great plan would therefore leave everyone in the same exact position, as before. For the securely locked away prisoner to establish communication to his people seems even less likely, in this scenario. So all the subtle threats really don't add up in my opinion.
"I guess it's a good thing I m not one of them?"Wow... Ben is the BEST . Best ending
Damn! Under three minutes, Micheal Emerson made me want to watch the whole show again.
me too
Michael Emerson is an amazing actor playing an amazing actor.
Actually, according to Lindelof, it was this scene that made them want to keep him on the show. And it's no surprise why, really.
I knew right when this scene first aired that this man deserved an Emmy. To this day, it still gives me the creeps. Bravo, Mr. Emerson.
This scene is just brilliant. Michael Emerson elevated S2 so much
this is the first true BEN scene. classic ben, and hes still henry here... dear god if only i knew what was to come of this show i would die of anticipation
Gotta love Ben, it's the actor who really pulls off his "comedy" aspect. Hell if it wasn't for the great actor then Ben would be some nobody other
This is the point where you go. "OH MY Gosh. This guy is evil?" And by purely asking if they had any milk! Darlton, thanks for keeping Benry around.
i know this show is the best OMG. This is my 5th time through. and wow. still creepy and great acting
That stare of his gives me the creeps. He really is a good actor.
Easily the best ending of a episode in TV history

The last line of this episode totally ruined the tension. It just made me crack up laughing.
I think it was meant to!
It was meant to break the tension and make Jack and Locke not be able to tell if he was serious or not.
so creepy
in usa it is
Hooked.
ugh! Ben!! He's so creepyyy!! i hate him i hate him i hate him! lol. poor losties... as if they didn't have enough to deal with.
he is a great actor. and he is badass. but not hot.
Damn, I forget how good the show was before they decided to make things all metaphysical with bullshit about Jacob and whatnot.
how is he hot? Ben is a flabby middle aged guy, which is probably one of his est features. The creepiest guys are always the ones who normal.
