One of the many, _many_ joys of this movie is that it does what every single other sequel does in that it gives us more of what they _think_ made the first one great BUT _unlike_ many sequels it _correctly_ identifies that as "stunningly creative artistry" and _then_ somehow manages to deliver on the borderline parodic directive "be _more_ stunningly creatively artistic" :). Just beautiful. (and I have all _kinds_ of thoughts about 'Barbie' and the Oscars but to me it's genuinely on a whole other level of utterly baffling that Daniel Pemberton wasn't even _nominated_ for this score !??)
I don’t think of Miguel as a villain. However I do think there will be a turnaround for Miguel in the next installment only, maybe helping Miles somewhere down the line or understanding a different path.
Hah - I just got that Miguel calling the spider-verse the 'polymultiverse' is a build up from Miles complaining about people saying ATM machines and Pav's complaint about the term Tchai tea.
Animation is a Medium/Art-form for everyone not a genre for kids. This is actually one of the best animated films I've ever seen and I love The Art of Animation.

The next one is gonna be Beyond the Spider Verse. Last update I see is that voice recording was set to resume after the end of the strike in November last year. I also recall a statement that there wouldn’t be a rush/overworking with the animation this time and would take as much time as needed. So I imagine we still have a while to wait. Miguel’s not exactly a vampire, unless we consider him a spider one rather than a bat one. He has spider talons and fangs that inject paralytic venom because rather than being bitten by a radioactive spider, his DNA was rewritten, making his genetic code “50% spider.” I’m also thinking the alteration isn’t permanent for this version, and that’s what that the injection he gave himself was, a serum to keep it up. Just a theory till we’re told more. It’s not really like that in the comics Every time. Every. Single. Time. @@bfdery That’s a good question. I would say we don’t have enough info to determine that. We know there’s been multiple canon disruptions that result in universe unravelling, but we’ve only been made aware of 2 that involved the disruption being caused by universal foreigners rather than a native. Miles caused a disruption in Pavitr’s, and Miguel caused one in the other Miguel’s. We’ll have to wait and see if that’s even taken into consideration

If u dont understand the concept of cannon events and miguels motives, i suggest watching marvels what if episode 4. Dr strange tried to do the same thing that miles is doing you'll see the result of it in that episode. Even in spiderman no way home the ending shows the result of peter tempering with cannon events (called nexus events in the mcu)
FYI he's not actually a vampire, he's half spider on the genetic level as a result of trying to rid himself of a (faked) chemical addiction to a future drug called Rapture. A colleague who hates him (understandably, Miguel is kind of a pompous jerk ngl) sabotaged the machine and it turned him into a hybrid. He's got extendable claws, organic webs, and venomous fangs. He also has heightened senses, one of the fastest healing factors among Spider-people, is photosensitive at least in his comics, and he lacks Spider-Sense. The other spiders at the Society seem to like teasing him by jokingly referring to him as a vampire.
9:38 no you're wrong. Those may look like vampire fangs but they're not. When Miguel bites you it releases a non-poisonous venom that paralyzes your entire body almost instantly it's all in the comics.
I bought this pre-owned after watching a review, watched it three days ago then bought the movie score on cd after listening to it on RUclips with my wireless headphones, I loved your reactions, I also was unaware of it being a part 1! I believe just like the comics he was tampered with by spider DNA actually in an expirement that was sabotaged by someone else. He actually take the injections to keep him from progressing more into a spider than he already is...at least that's how I believe the comics works. If he didn't he would become more spider and less human.
Love watching your reactions since Andor 👍🏾. Keep them coming. But wanted to share some info with you. Even though Miguel was harsh on Miles he was really telling him the truth. He seen what happen to that world he adopted and the other Spider-man (nick) seen it too (he was there, if that was missed). It began to happen again in the Indian spider-man's life also (the black hole that developed after). But hopefully they contained it. That wasn't spot. Also cannon events aren't always about the captain. It's any major event that MUST happen. Miles and Spot are both original anomalies. Spot will have to be the 1 to fix what he has broken, since his ability is to move through time and space.
Miguel isn't a vampire; he doesn't need to feed on blood at all. We don't know what he was injecting himself with in this movie because it wasn't explained and it has no basis in the comics.

Is it just me or was some of the fun taken away by her giving the heads up about the To Be Continued? I love to see the reaction and, also, I want you to feel like many of us did in the theatre. I don't watch the trailers on purpose so I missed out on the fact that the original showed it was a part 1, but I don't know if I'd have remembered it by the time it came out. Either way, I can't wait for the final movie. I want it when it was supposed to have out (I think it was supposed to be this week) and I want it to be as awesome as it was, but I also understand all the spoken (and likely unspoken) reasons why it had to be postponed.
Eh, I'm not too bothered by it - sometimes the to be continued sours the experience for reactors and they start off their thoughts more negatively (not usually, but sometimes).
The part I'm wondering about is that Miguel said Miles' Peter would have survived if he hadn't been bitten. But Miles was bitten at least a day prior to Spider-Man trying to stop the collider. So Miles would have still been Spider-Man had Peter stopped the collider...? Plus, if Miles was truly an anomaly, wouldn't he glitch no matter the universe? I don't think they messed up that much because they are great at being subtle. So I can't wait to see the explanation.
I think it’s thatt if Miles hadn’t been bitten, he wouldn’t have gone to inspect the spider, thus not wound up in the collider area, thus not getting into danger and needing Spider Man to save him before he tries to plug in the goober. If he wasn’t delayed by saving Miles and having a convo with him, he might’ve stopped the collider in time before Prowler snagged him, leading into the fight that ultimately ends in his death
I think the implication of this movie and the next is that Miguel and the Spider Society had the wrong idea about canon events much like how the TVA were wrong in how they approached the sacred timeline
Not everyone watches trailers; I avoid them to go in completely blind. Likewise, I avoid early announcements and teasers for similar reasons. They did change the name so there must be some reason, perhaps to have a big surprise and I was glad to be surprised. I haven't had such a gasp/groan experience like that since the end of Infinity War. My friend who knew about it forgot and it hit her just as hard. It was fun in such a not-so-fun way, if you what I mean. We left laughing, but we were at least relieved we didn't have to wait a full year. Jokes on all of us, but I'm pleased the art and artist won't be "sacrificed" for my pleasure. A week after the original date, it does bum me out a bit and so ... here I am experiencing it for the first time vicariously through YT reactors. It will have to do, until the real thing.
