    Still blows my mind that the entire lego universe sequence was animated single handedly by a 14 year old.
    The studio saw that he had recreated the trailers for this movie in lego and reached out. Pretty cool thing to add to the resume.

      I wouldn't say he slowly became a multiversal threat. We only became cognizant of what he was capable of given time to take his character serious. He was always a multiversal threat. He just didn't believe in himself, and didn't care enough to be one. It was only once he was further insulted, at the lowest point in his life, that he truly tried.
      I mean, come on, compare his first fight to his second fight. He went from barely managing one Spiderman to being capable of toying with four, just off of new knowledge and confidence. He hasn't really been buffed as of the second fight, just reloaded, so he probably was that strong in the first fight. He simply didn't know.

    Co-director Kemp Powers shared in an interview about the care that went Spiderman India and the redesign for Pav in the movie. A wardrobe consultant was brought for the desgin of Pav's nehru collar. There was a big importance for notes from a hairstylist as well. The character was initially written as younger and a note was made not to make a Mowgli stereotype and he was aged-up for the movie. The team's Indian animators who each live in different parts of India emailed after the first design was internally released to them and they shared notes that Pav and his universe did not connect to their lives and they wanted to work on it. An all indian writers room was brought in for the movie after this and that whole section of Across the SpiderVerse was rewritten to have a better connection to Indian culture

    Miles being an anomaly is a lot more in keeping with themes and spirit as Spider-man as a character rather than Miguel's established destiny for all Spider people to follow. What made Peter Parker so relatable originally was that he had no heroic destiny like other marvel protagonists, he was a regular guy who got his powers by accident and had to figure out what to do with them on his own. The fact that Miles turns out to be random stroke of serendipity is what makes Miguel wrong when he says Miles isn't being Spider-man properly or that he shouldn't be Spider-man at all.

  • @navo159
    @navo159 8 месяцев назад +59

    More fun facts: Hobie's animation was designed by the same guy who directed Castlevania Season 1, and did the Hades game trailer, animation for Boruto, and a lot of other absolutely massive titles (Spencer Wan). He used his own junk mail to do it. Spencer Wan also animated Gwen's swinging (he added illegal gymnastics moves to her swinging style), as well as the scene where Miles blasts Miguel off the train, all in 2D. He also did some passes on Pavitr's swinging styles.

    • @morganqorishchi8181
      @morganqorishchi8181 3 месяца назад

      Spencer Wan's insight on Gwen using illegal gymnastics moves adds to the character in other unexpected ways: he justified that decision by pointing out Gwen wears pointe shoes as Spider-Woman even though she would've been too young to dance on pointe as a ballerina when she first got her powers. That indicates that she taught herself to dance on pointe, despite the health risks. So her using illegal gymnastics makes sense, because she's already done illegal things in another sport. It's character continuity via animation.

The more he talks, the less sense he makes. As for Spot, he needs to take some accountability for why he's the way he is. Why was he still in the screening area during explosion? All of the other scientists & King Pin had left the screening area once the realities started fracturing, long before the explosion.

      Yeah notice how even though he was in the wrong dimension he didn’t glitch… it was everything else that glitched. But Miles is IN his own dimension. • @anothervagabond
    @anothervagabond 8 месяцев назад +52

    I find it kind of interesting how everybody just immediately accepts Miguel's interpretation of "canon events". Like he just *assumed* that the "canon event" thing is why the universe he jumped into was destroyed, but that makes no sense. If that universe's Miguel was dead, there wouldn't be any canon events there to be disrupted anymore. Also Pavitr didn't have an "Uncle Ben" event, so that's another argument against canon events.
    Personally I think Miguel was stricken with grief at what happened, saw that most Spider-People have similar things happen to them, and just invented an explanation to make himself feel better, to have a purpose. It's a coping mechanism, we have no reason whatsoever to assume that he actually has any idea what he's talking about.
    I don't know for sure what led to Miguel's second universe being destroyed, but I am sure it wasn't some nonsense about "canon events".

    Knew you would like Pav, he's been around for a while debuted in like 2005, but it was like rare spinoffs, the movie made a lot of improved changes to his outfit. Spider-Punk debuted in 2015 but Hobie Brown was the name of the original Prowler. They animated Hobie at different framerates to his guitar too, and the cut-out style is fitting of punk rock album covers.
    As for Miguel, Spider-Man 2099, he's very very different from the comics, given how antagonistic they made him due to all the trauma and control freaking. In reality he's one of the more different spiders in origin - his DNA was mixed with a spider's giving him his powers; sensitive vision leading to red eyes, strength and heightened senses (but no spider-sense), talons and the fangs, which release a paralysing venom, not a vampire. Ben Reilly is also really different, part of the infamously overdrawn Clone Saga
    It surprises me how many people didn't know this was a 2-parter, they did say it in the original teaser, first it was gonna be called Across the Spider-Verse part 1 & 2, but then they changed it to Across the Spider-Verse and Beyond the Spider-Verse.

    Lenny was voiced by Ziggy Marley, one of Bob Marley’s children.
    When Hobie says he hates the a.m. and the P.M, he’s respectively talking about the morning and the Prime Minister.
    Pavitr is officially one of the funniest Spider-Heroes ever. He has abundant youthful energy and a great sense of humor.
    Four facts about Pavitr:
    1.) He wasn’t bitten by a radioactive spider. Rather his powers are magic based. Perhaps it’s the bangles he uses for weapons. For all we know, they might function similar to the one we saw in Ms. Marvel.
    2.) He fights using an Indian martial art called Kalaripayattu. A small animation team from Kerala, India was tasked to help animate Pavitr's movements.
    3.) His Spidey mask has design inspirations from Theyyam, a Hindu ritual from Kerala.
    4.) The head-writers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller invited Karan to the writers’ room to pitch in ideas for Pavitr. They were aiming for his character to be culturally specific.
    Malala Windsor, the British Spider-Woman with the hijab, is an original character created for this movie. This direct incarnation of Spider-UK was never introduced in the comics, but after this she might eventually get her own run.
    Malala was voiced by Sofia Barclay. She portrayed Dr. O’Sullivan in Ted Lasso.
    @39:27 There’s no confirmation that this is the same Prowler we met back in Spider-Man: Homecoming. For all we know, this might be a What If situation. In other words, he’s from an entirely separate dimension/timeline.
    Speaking of which, the canon events are absolute points like what we saw with Strange Supreme in What If season 1.
    The way I understand it, the Spider Society is pretty much a Spidey-themed TVA. A major difference is that they don’t prune dimensions. Rather, they try to save them from collapsing.
    Record producer Metro Boomin’ made a cameo as his own Spidersona when he apologized to the Society for saying there was nowhere to run.
    Metro (real name Leland Wayne) curated the soundtrack for this film. The deluxe edition has six bonus tracks aside from the main thirteen.
    That reminds me: Hummingbird, the song heard in the background when Miles is grounded, was co-written, co-produced, and performed by James Blake. He happens to be married to Jameela Jamil, the actress who portrayed She-Hulk’s rival Titania.
    Peter is a great mentor but also an irresponsible father for bringing Mayday to a steel mill with all kinds of equipment that can easily harm her. Although I did like that he acknowledged that Spider-Heroes are supposed to be funny.
    Miguel has the best of intentions with preventing the multiverse from collapsing, but I didn’t like that he called Miles a mistake and blamed him for everything that happened. Miles never asked to get bitten by a radioactive spider, but he’s doing his best and making the most of the situation.
    It’s weird but also cool that Earth-42’s version of J. Jonah Jameson and The Daily Bugle would actually support a Spider-Man rather than call him a menace all the time.
    Going into this, I knew we were gonna be left on a cliffhanger. This movie was originally a two-parter. They ended up renaming the third movie Beyond the Spider-Verse, but the concept remains the same.
    And finally, Amandla Stenberg (the voice of Margo Kess/Spider-Byte) is gonna be the lead actress in the upcoming Star Wars show The Acolyte.

    Spiderman 2099 is a pretty damn good read and the Gwen Stacy Spider Gwen series is great too and shots in this movie lifted right from the comic , and if I’m missing a lot apologies to everyone 🙏

    In that scene in the first one right before the bagel incident, you can actually SEE the Spot in one of the comic panels. Wild!

    In Spot's flashback you actually see the spider making it's way towards Earth 42 Miles.
    Also there is a hint in the first movie that Miles would become his dimension Prowler when he meets Spider-man (RIP). When they "spider sense" each other, Miles's starts off green and purple (Prowler's colors) and Peter's are red and blue (Spiderman's colors) and then Miles's changes to red and blue. It does make sense, with his relationships to his uncle and father, not to mention trying to get kicked out of Vision Academy

    Seeing this in theatres on the opening weekend in IMAX is still an unforgettable experience I’ve had. There are some Easter eggs in the movie like the upcoming Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 game, and a newspaper article on Chloe Bennet’s character Daisy Johnson aka Quake on the front page. And the Earth-199999 was directly referenced the events in Spider-Man No Way Home that focused on the multiverse conflict involving on Tom Holland’s Spider-Man and Doctor Strange in the MCU. Fun fact about the character Spider-Man India, he got his powers through magic instead of a spider bite, and the Mary Janes are actually a band in the Spider-Gwen comics.

    (At 39:33) You want to know the sad part is?
    Before Aaron Davis, Hobart "Hobie" Brown was The 1st The Prowler in Earth-616. But then he started trying to turn his life around after he confronted Spider-Man. Currently going by "The Hornet"
    THIS Hobie Brown… is from Earth-138.
    Also Aaron Davis does not exist in Earth-616. He came from the Ultimate Universe, as well as his nephew.
    I *think* that's about the sum of it, as far as I know?

    34:47 It's hard to spot but there actually is a reference to Everything Everywhere All At Once in this. At one point there's a billboard with a bagel that says "All of It, Always, All Over The Place."

    The artbook for Across the Spider-verse actually calls Miles G. Morales (from Earth-42) a "vigilante", so there's a good chance when we eventually catch up to Beyond the Spider-verse, he'll actually be helping Miles, as the closest adjacent to a Spider-Man he can be while being a Prowler.

    I'm kinda mad they didn't show their reaction to Miguel saying "Don't even get me started about Dr. Strange and that lil nerd back on Earth 99999!", now I wanna watch the uncut but I fear they prbly missed it cuz Suraj said "They gon have MCU crossover references too" later on

    Last 30 minutes of this movie is probably some of the best I've seen this year. So fucking good, intense, suspenseful and a great cliffhanger.
    I don't get how I hear so many people it's stupid when it ended...like that made the ending so much better and more exciting. When they did that I got goosebumps. I was like FUCK YES.

    Each character was a masterpiece, this was an amazing job, the music, the whole playlist is our new addition, the effort they put on this movie was worth it, I felt for Pavitr personality ❤ and our coolest guy???? I hadn't idea I could have a crush at my age (29) 😂😂 spider punk had an amazing glow up here, his whole character is dope .
    The parents written were also beautiful, so emotional, Rio's speech, I would use it with my boys, it was deep and I felt every word, as a mom, I was crying at that scene, beautiful.
