The way the spot was transitioned from a goofy and unserious villain to an avengers level threat under 20 minutes was genius! This movie is absolute peak.
I'd even say like what the movie shows hes also a multiversal threat. avengers might have a hard time with him unless they know people who knows magic Like doctor strang wanda etc
13:11 Miles:😂 The gang: 😆 and Ew. 36:19 Miles and the gang:😱😥😰😟😨😧🫢 47:49 - 47:55 Me: Nope. They’re all real…….probably worth the Google. 50:20 Miles: Don’t know. Don’t Care!
Yeah I honestly love it. Like Spot just wanted acknowledgement and respect from miles but he laughed in his face and insulted him😂 then Spot took that personally and become a multiversal threat. No one was laughing at him then ☠️
@@DJ-xo4brWith “Are you guys okay?" Miles was referring to both his parents but because in that universe only his mom is alive she responded with “i'm okay".
The animation for this exceeded my high expectations, it was wild. But what really sold me was the soundtrack, it's so good, so memorable. The spots theme is terrifying!!
them noticing mile's 42 accent because hes much more connected to his mother due to his father's death is my favorite part ever. what a great detail and characterization, where i am from this detail unfortunately was gotten rid of due to dub, because its basically untranslatable. When i watched the original in english for the first i was so blown away by that
Super cool idea. Miles WAS originally supposed to be the Prowler, as y'all discussed. In the first movie, when he first met the OG Spiderman, their spider senses kinda vibrated. Miles one WAS Purple and Green, and then synced to Red and Blue after a second. Literally showed his destiny changing, crazy
Except Miles wasn't going to become the Prowler, because if Miles never got powers, the Prowler wouldn't have died, meaning that at the very least he wouldn't become Prowler for a couple years since Aaron would still be active. Also, we know that the Earth-42 Prowler that we see at the end of the movie is a vigilante because of leaked scenes, meaning the Prowler role itself is different in that universe, and is closer to that universe's Spider-Man instead of a villain.
@@romanfischer7307it could’ve been like earth 42 where we see Aaron and Miles working together to be the prowler. Their fates got swapped with our Miles becoming spider man resulting in his uncle dying while 42 never became spider man so his uncle never died and thus he got trained by his uncle and became the prowler
To elaborate on what Sheera was saying 1:10:28. Miles Unlce was never supposed to die. His uncle Aaron died because he was fighting Miles as Spiderman, and found out Miles was Spiderman and couldn't kill him. Spiderman being an anomaly is what caused him to die. If Miles never became Spiderman, his uncle wouldve never had that fight with him, he would still be a villain, and his dad would just be fated to die as Chief of Police. Also this isn't the first time something like this happened. As seen with Andrew Garfield, he not only lost the chief of police, but he also lost his Woman AND Uncle Ben. The story is just a little different for some.
Also spiderman as in Peter Parker is an orphan before he even becomes spiderman. So Miles losing his dad isn't a far fetched idea, it just adds to the depressing hero backstory.
Also Peter Parker wasn't suppose to die either, Peter Parker and Uncle Aaron having unexpected deaths is the result of Miles becoming spider-man instead of Miles-42.
Also with Peni in the first movie she mentioned losing her best friend, and in this movie she had another cannon event of losing her Aunt May which resulted to her new look. Thus there can be multiple cannon events for every spiderman. When we'll be able to see a spiderman with a happy ending, poor spideys
Interesting little detail, throughout the film Spider-Punk/Hobie sometimes calls Gwen “Gwendy” and calls Miles “Peter Pan”, so contrary to Miles' initial insecurities, it appears that Hobie, like Pavitr, is actually playfully rooting for Miles and Gwen to hook up. Also during the scenes when The Spot recollects dimensionally displacing the Earth-42 spider that ended up biting Earth-1610 Miles, one can notice that said spider was apparently about to bite Earth-42 Miles (while he was studying in a classroom) before it got yoinked, thus implying that Earth-42 Miles was originally supposed to become his dimension's Spider-Man.
@@quadeccca9151 At least one instance is immediately after Miguel traps Miles in an energy net/web, Hobie whistles to Miles and says "Oi, Peter Pan!" and then mouths to him to use his palms in order to have his venom blasts break him out from the energy net/web.
Hobie was many people's favorite (and rightfully so) but man, I feel like Miles was such a fucking badass in this movie, he's so confident and the way he stays true to himself is so cool. He went against the whole Spider society and beat them, was captured by his alternate self and by the end he said "bet". I just love seeing his whole development from the first movie
@@JohnnyLaZyTitanLouehh I'd argue that he's one of, if not the only Spider Man who stuck true to his identity. Spider Man has always tried to save both the people he loves and the innocent. I think I remember that there was a scene cut in Into where Peter B says this.
most definitely one of my favorites and the most emotional for me. The realization of his power and the birth of his greater self confidence. He said everything I want to say to my parents one day. "I beat them all, I know how strong I am now. Its because of you"
My favorite thing is that from the very first moment he's introduced, Hobie is trying to help Miles, Gwen, and Pavitr. His comment about using the palms is the very first thing he says to Miles. He says later in the film that he's only there to look out for Gwen, and I think it's 100% true. Hobie is there to help the younger Spider people. He's looking out for the kids, because he sees that the adults aren't doing it. From the first minute, Hobie was looking out for Miles. Before he even knew him.
YUP! Hobie is older than Gwen/Miles/Pravitr, he sees himself as the big brother who's also the fighting transitional punk paving the way for the next gen to take over and do it right
This movie got a crazy amount of detail. When they were first going to meet Miguel, Hobie was breaking off pieces of tech while he was talking to Miles. That's the tech he used for the watch he gave Gwen later on. Love this movie.
Also I just noticed something. When Miles is electrocuting Miguel’s suit, I noticed Miguel kept trying to move, but he couldn’t budge. Was miles holding him in place or am I missing something? If so, miles is hella strong
@@clarkkent2005 Miguel's suit is probably full of electricity because it's all cyberpunk looking, so Miles wasn't just producing electricity, he was drawing it FROM his suit (like he says he does to the barrier earlier) to then shoot it back. Meaning that Miguel's suit probably started malfunctioning as well and that's why he couldn't move.
I figured he was doing that soon as he grabbed something and was talking about Miles doing his own thing. People often forget all the spider powered people are also super geniuses lol
@@clarkkent2005This is different than what other people have said, but I don't think it was just a matter of Miles being strong (he was struggling to push Miguel off of him prior). But what people sometimes forget about Spider-Man is that he can make *all* parts of himself stick to a surface, not just his hands or feet. So the reason Miguel was having trouble escaping might be because Miles was sticking his hand to Miguel's suit so he couldn't pull away, and sticking his back to the train so he couldn't be moved either.
One of the best piece of foreshadowing they did in the first movie was when miles met Peter Parker for the first time : the color scheme behind him was green and purple, as he was supposed to become the prowler, but meeting Spider Man shifted the colors to his signature black and red ! So frickin clever !
More fun facts: Hobie's animation was designed by the same guy who directed Castlevania Season 1, and did the Hades game trailer, animation for Boruto, and a lot of other absolutely massive titles (Spencer Wan). He used his own junk mail to do it. Spencer Wan also animated Gwen's swinging (he added illegal gymnastics moves to her swinging style), as well as the scene where Miles blasts Miguel off the train, all in 2D. He also did some passes on Pavitr's swinging styles.
@@irecordwithaphone1856 it's so funny bc he's friends with some famous RUclipsrs and he's a human disaster (in the best way possible) and so funny and lovely, and it's funny to think of him as both Spencer the LEGENDARY ANIMATOR and Spencer the guy who almost died from a snowball 😂
I'm sure someone already said it somewhere, but Hobie's animation framing was done in a completely unconventional style as a way of showing that he's so against the system. I love how they use the animation to tell the story just as much as everything else.
And the "paper" looking styles that Roshi mentioned about Hobie's animation/look? It was inspired from the 1970's collage art on punk rock bands. As an example: the Sex Pistols' "God Save the Queen" art cover.
Also if you watch closely, his animation isn't as chaotic and random as it seems at first. Watch when he's interacting with someone he cares about, like Miles, Gwen, or even Mayday, he turns pink!!!! And when he's feeling proud, he's his normal red and blue!!!!
@@virgoleo81 literallyyy my fave detail of his. just as much as him having the traditional colors of spider-man when hes feeling proud of being so, and newspaper gray when there's danger
Miguel isn’t a vampire btw. His DNA is spliced with a spider’s so he’s literally half spider. Since some spiders have fangs that inject venom, Miguel has fangs that inject venom too and he can see in the dark as well
ALL spiders have fangs. There is only one exception that doesn't inject venom, Uloboridae, Hackled Orb Weavers. "Some" is a gross understatement, it's just that many venoms of spiders are nothing more than a mild irritant to us.
and it's also why he doesn't have spider sense because actual spiders don't have that, which is why gwen pointed out the vulture was going to attack and he didn't get it and got hit
BRO YALL CANT JUST DROP THIS WHILE IM AT WORK DAWG😭😭😭😭 But as a 23-year old Spider-Man connoisseur, yes this was the supreme Spider-Man movie! And Beyond the Spider-Verse is going to be quintessentially insane👏🏽
The animation is undoubtedly top tier award worthy. Story line and voice acting aswell. But my favorite part which is only a few seconds long.. is when miles is fighting back and says dont call me a kid... Hobie's encouragement. "There you go". "Hobie, you're not helping." "GOOD" is so great. Basically encouring Miles to be his own and prove everyone wrong. He subtly becomes Miles' only supporter/believer as a big brother. Its great
Fun fact: If you go back to the first movie and watch Miles meeting his universes Peter they show them recognizing each other through spider sense. At first Peter has the red and blue background while Miles has a purple and green one. But after recognizing he’s like Peter, it turns red and blue. The purple and green are prowlers colors, and we’re to symbolize that miles was originally supposed to be his universes prowler.
Honestly it really surprises me how clever and analytical this group is, recalling plot points from the previous movie, stuff that 95% of others would’ve missed, predicting all the plot 🔥
Same. I enjoy watching this crew. They don't just go "Wow. I liked that." **end of video** They actually come with their own thoughts, as well as information relating to the topic.
Can we just ignore the fact that Pavitr has emerged as the unique variant of Peter Parker who managed to rescue two different Gwen from fall. Initially, he prevented his teammate Spider-Gwen from falling, and later, without delay, he swiftly rescued his girlfriend Gayatri.
Not surprising. Hobie's whole schtick is standing up against and toppling governments, so obviously he would be on board with Miles not wanting to follow through with all of Miguel's "Canon event" bs. He's literally rooting for him in the intervention scene, saying "There we go" "Hobie, you're not helping." "Good." Hobie is best boi
"We're supposed to be the good guys" is such an underrated line Spider-Man has always been THE hero for me. He always saves people. If the questions is "do you save this one person or all these people" he always tries to save everyone and that's what I love about him So seeing those hundreds of iteration of spider-man just accepting that they have to let people die really fucked me up. Miles is basically the only one acting "canon" as in how spider-man is at his core
And that was why Miguel DOESN'T WANT Miles to get involved in this, believing that Peter would save anyone in any scenario is absurd ignorance. He had the chance to save Uncle Ben several times and he didn't, as saving him for a selfish reason would kill every person he's ever saved, just like PS4 Peter DOESN'T SAVE his aunt. That "Spider-Man Saves Everyone" speech comes from an extremely immature Spider-Man. We are viewers and we know that a solution will come from beyond to be possible, as well as Aang refusing to kill Ozai and a FUCKING TURTLE KING appearing to give the necessary power.
It’s also funny that there were no other variants of miles anywhere on that team, and a few of the peters had miles they work with. Definitely think that was by design and will maybe be addressed in the next film
@@geraftcBut the thing is, it isn't the fact that Spider-man HAS to save everyone, it's that Spider-man TRIES to save everyone. There's a difference between trying and failing and giving up before even trying. As a person which one would you personally choose, trying to save your family with no guarantee that you can or just give up because someone told you there's no point.
The confused yells of "IT'S OVER ???" me and my friend had in the theater when the movie ended was next level😂😂😂. I didn't know it was gonna have another movie that I'd have to wait for 😭
39:18 The reason the elevator is upside is to make a callback to the climax of the first movie. When Miles takes his leap of faith, he falls downward to the city, but it's inverted, showing him rising to the occasion, to the challenge. In this film, though Miles is physically ascending to meet the head of the Spider Society (Miguel), he's falling into a trap and falling into danger.
Back in the first one Miles made some art with Aaron that was of Miles’ silhouette in front of the words “No Expectations”. The silhouette looks exactly like the Spot does after getting powered up by the collider. An awesome detail not only playing into how Spot was just a joke villain at first but how similar he and Miles actually are.
@@EthanBalkfieldthey have the exact same story. Savage Books just dropped a video explaining it far better than I ever could. He studies writing, I don't. But you should check it out. It's a very insightful breakdown on Spot specifically and the particular type of villain his is. It's really good
CAN WE ADDRESS HOW CRAZY IT IS MIGUEL JUST TRIED TO PRETEND TO BE HIS DEAD DOPPELGÄNGER…?? Like…he saw a his doppelgängers body..HID IT?? 💀 Then just..waltzed into this dudes home with his family and lived with them..??
We should! First of all, that's nuts. That's the plot of a horror movie. Dude pulled a "Single White Female" (does that movie still work as a reference?) without the murder. But also: being an anomaly in the wrong universe for an extended period is a far cry different from events just happening slightly differently. He _doesn't_ know that saving someone is what breaks things.
It's funny to see that people have the same reaction every time when Miguel appears to bite the Vulture "What? Is a vampire?" people tend to forget that spiders have fangs to inoculate their venom 😂
@@mac_attack_zach I just checked and indeed in English inoculate is only used in the sense of injecting a weakened virus/bacteria in order to create immunity in the person concerned, in this case I meant that the spider also has fangs to inject its venom. Hope I was clearer this time 🙂
@@faithgarcia380we see him injecting himself with something. I'm assuming that is probably more spider venom. He's figured out multiversal travel. I'm willing to make the leap he re-created the spider venom that made him. That could lead to more spider-like properties, like a literal venomous bite (I could be completely wrong about all of that)
I love how the film plays into the superficial love triangle but really shows that Gwen does love miles and that Hobie is there to support Gwen and Miles.
But he did her dirty at the beginning though. Exposing her with the sweater n toothbrush having Miles thinking like 'Girl what you been up to?!' Nearly had them all fucked up like 😂😂
@@benlee7947he doesn’t. hobie’s actualy the most helpful to miles: - says to ‘use the palms’ in terms of electricity powers and breaking the barrier, later helps him out in breaking away from 2099’s barrier. - gave mutual aid to Gwen in the form of offering shelter (left her toothbrush in his place because of her dad’s situation, practically arresting his daughter) AND that includes miles. hence the ‘bet you have a nice setup eh? nice parents’ line. - kept trying to block off miles metaphorically and physically on his way to the headquarters of miguel. in fact, he said, “just don’t enlist until you know what war you’re fighting in”. not to mention that hobie stole things to make his own watch, right under 2099’s nose. not even Miguel takes him seriously; that’s the coolest part! a lot of hobie’s introduction relies on the whole misdirection - gaining uproars, staging political actions etc etc. One part of his character (what audience ASSUME his punk character is to be one note/comedy relief) can also be a part of him being genuine. he hates the am/pm (prime minister, radio, propaganda). hobie is just such a cool fucking character lol
Something I saw someone say is that Rio's speech to him about "keeping that little boy loved" could be about Miles helping 42 Miles realize that he can be good.
The perfect sequel to a near flawless movie. The animation, characters, and action are even more incredible this time around. I especially love how well Miguel as an antagonist represents the fundamental flaw of the Spider Society’s doctrine: that Spider-People are defined by their trauma and that their trauma is essential.
it's not a flaw or doctrine it's a fact of the observable reality. every strong and exceptional person has faced some kind of trauma and challenges in their life that helps build their character and resilience
The opening with Gwen is just art its so good and as a huge Spider-Man fan since i was a kid i never thought we would be getting Spider-Man content as good as this. Between these movies and the video games this is the happiest ive ever been
The great thing about 50:17 is that it works as a "Leap of Faith". Miles was the only Spider-Man to fall through the gaps in the turbines. Every other one crashed along the way until buddy blew it all up
Fun fact: If you rewatch the first movie, at the scene with Gwen's origin story, when she talks about not being able to save her best friend we see her silhouette fighting against the Lizard's silhouette and when she punches him back the lizard's shadow slowly shifted to Peter's.
Gwen's Peter and her dad appear during Gwen's backstory in Into The Spiderverse. But they look different because we are shown what Miles is imagining as Gwen speaks. He imagined Capt. Stacy as a skinny older guy and Peter as a fit young man, like 1610's Peter.
It’s kind of nice seeing a fresh reaction after seeing this movie countless of times. They fr make it seem like it’s your first time seeing the movie again.
The Director said that the reveal that Miles is the first anomaly is a meta-commentary on what led to the creation of the first Black Spider-Man. Some fans believe that Miles doesn't deserve his power or belong in the mask.
"Fans" If they truly loved Spider-Man, they would believe in the message of the character and accept Miles for who he is. Instead, they embody the antagonists Spider-Man often fights against. Like folks who call themselves Christians but their actions are sadistic.
@@kjj26kThe funny thing is that “fans” dont really reflect your morality. Also you can ge a sadist while being a christians cause again, a lot of it is subject to interpretation.
My favourite bit in this film I learned from Spanish speakers is that is when Miguel says "ay coño" when he tells the other Spider-people to chase Miles; it's a common cuss in a lot of South American countries (Oscar Isaac is Guatemalan) but since Miguel is supposed to be Mexican, he basically said a super R rated cuss in Mexican Spanish :)))) in a PG-13 movie LOL (it's what I was told anyway)
Kind of like in the old harry potter movies, the kids say Bloody all the time-but apparently in England its more intense a cuss than we think, or it used to be haha
As incredible as it sounds, they stepped the animation game up even harder in this one. Especially the background art was incredible, so emotionally evocative
This is one of those movies where I loved it more than the first. I really hope that they don't rush the third and take their time to get it right and make sure that all the artists are well taken care of.
Fun fact about Hobie! The original prowler from the old spiderman comics was a black man called Hobie Brown! The mantle was then passed on to multiple characters along the years, one of them being Aaron Davis in the Ultimate Universe, the original universe Miles Morales' Spiderman comes from. Eventually, though, when the original spider verse comic run came along they created Spider-Punk and made him an alternate version of Hobie Brown from the main universe. Next movie is gonna be lit, especially if we get scenes with the three Prowlers
I watched this movie 7 times in the theater y'all. I ain't never went more than once EVER before. ATSV has me in a choke hold Fr. Best movie of the year, it better get awards for every damn reason you can get awards. The soundtrack is also absolute peak, I've listened to the entire thing 4 times on Spotify.
THISSSS‼️ this movie got me in a chokehold too, I saw it the day after it came out in theaters and went back 5 days later to watch it again and have seen it 4 times after that😭😭 everything abt it is sooo good, down to the soundtrack and everything, I got the whole album on my playlist
I think gwen decided to walk out the room to reassure the parents. If she didn’t and Miles didn’t come back that night it would go terribly. They’d probably look for the last person he was with which either does not exist/is dead/ or has no clue.
Small ironic theory: what if Miles's dad survives his canon event because he went out looking for Miles instead of being at the place where he's supposed to die 🤔
1:05:05 To explain that question. If you go back to the first movie the part where the original peter saves miles. You can see the color of Miles spider sense is actually Prowlers colors but meeting Spiderman slowly changes them. It's a fantastic little detail! :)
Fun fact, this version of Spider-Woman(aka Jess) is actually a combination of three different versions. The first one is Valerie. Who was actually the first spider woman three years before Jessica Drew debuted. Was also Marvel’s first female, black superhero. The other two are different versions of Jesseca Drew. Original from Earth-616 and the pregnant version from Earth-64.
Gwen’s backstory and her part of the movie is just so heartwrenching. The spider society basically acts like a cult with how they take her in at her lowest moment, indoctrinate her with the canon stuff, and force her to essentially cut off connections with people outside the society. And yes Gwen “chose” to be a part of this but let’s not forget she’s also a teenager who is fleeing a world where her dad has convinced people she’s murdered her best friend. The society is her only option so that’s all she can rely on. And we see in the film through her body language and face how torn she is over her loyalty to the society but also to Miles.
Okay let's stop with the Spider Society slanders for a bit Gwen was the one who insisted so badly on joining in, Miguel did NOT want her in, at all, it took the Spider Woman's pleading for him to finally give in, and it's not like it's the worst thing a spider hero had to deal with, she could've been a runaway and live on her own, the choice SHE made was to give up everything to live her little dreams, not bothering to check on her father once in months or even a year even though she has the perfect means to get a peek, the only one she couldn't see was Miles for completely different reasons, and there's enough solid proofs about Miguel's canon theorem for hundreds of different Spider-Men to join him
There’s a theory out there that what happened to Miguel wasn’t necessarily a disruption of the Canon but the fact that he was from another dimension. I guess the universe saw him as a foreign object but since it couldn’t glitch him out of existence it unfolded on itself. Either way, I think it’s safe to say that the theory Miguel had on Canon events has holes in it regardless of what happened to him
I think they will make a villain. That manipulated the events to make Miguel think the canon events are causing it. That way Miguel can team up with them if a third party killed his family twice
I think Madame Web will tie in with this. And also if they do go with the 1610 storyline with spider-man dying, then he will probably come back just like in the original comics.
I think it was an unknown force that destroyed the universe, cuz as we have seen on multiple occasions thru this movie and the last the universes can clearly handle being altered and disturbed when adding new people and when those people leave, when the universe sees a foreign object it doesn't do anything, a foreign object just begins to glitch due to their atoms not being in the right universe
I went into the movie thinking Spot will be just a joke villain, so when he went and did... that... I legit got chills. Both from how cool and from how creepy it was. One of the best villain glow-ups I've ever seen.
My prediction: Miles & Uncle Aaron in Earth 42 aren't outright villains; they're vigilantes. Through the rooftop and Prowler scenes in the end, you keep hearing news about a Sinister Six cartel running the city. I think Miles as Prowler, and Uncle Aaron probably have to do some pretty shady shit, but overall are still running up against the Sinister Six cartel. And Miles wasn't supposed to become the Prowler in that universe; he was supposed to be Spider-Man, but the spider ended up in OUR Miles' universe. There's a brief shot earlier in the movie where you see the spider from Earth-42 about to bite 42's Miles before it gets sucked in by the collider. Also, about the cliffhanger... if you go back and watch the VERY FIRST teaser for the movie, it was titled: "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, PART ONE".... It was always meant to be a two-part story. They just pulled an Infinity War/Endgame, and decided to name the 3rd film something else. In this case, Part 3 is "Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse"
And the Sinister Six is six of Spider-man's strongest villians - Doc Ock, Electro, Mysterio, Sandman, Kraven and Vulture. They apparently are running NYC on Earth-42. I can't wait for the next movie!
I do think one of two things have to happen. Either Earth-42's Miles and Aaron end up helping our Miles & Crew, or they get access to a portal bracelet and start meddling in other dimensions. If they're just normal baddies, their role in the third movie will basically just be, alright let's rescue Miles, okay he's rescued, now let's never go to earth 42 again, it is a silly place. The rescue can't take the whole movie because there are other plot threads to resolve. And just having them make a brief cameo as inconveniences to the plot would be uncharacteristically wasteful of the writers. One thing I am certain of, is that with Miles being tied to the punching bag, we're going to get a "don't watch the mouth, watch the hands" moment where he frees himself and tries to bail.
@@FabbrizioPlays apparently set dropped that displayed the three of them posing as a team. I think ur first guess is right, they’re gonna end up helping. While be cool to see a Miles vs Miles fight before they do though.
They really sacrificed the theater experience for the viewers brah. Thank you! I don't know if I share the same sentiment with others but I don't mind if u guys watch the 3rd film on theaters. I can already see the amount of spoilers you need to avoid lol.
The fact that Tom's character is refered to as 'that nerd' instead of being refered to as Peter or Spiderman made me wonder if the spells affect multiple dimensions instead of being confined to MCU. Also, the bagel thing did happen in the last movie. When being chased by armed scientists, Miles threw the bagel Peter B. gave him and hit one of the scientists. So... yeah. The Bagel hit The Spot.
The Miles of Earth 42 was meant to be spider-Man if you look back at when Miles fought spot at the beginning in the illustrations the spot shows you can clearly see the spider heading towards Earth 42 Miles before being transported meaning that Miles was meant to be bitten but didn’t therefore creating a world with no Spider-Man and ultimately making Miles the prowler
Honestly really interesting if they go the route of 42 Miles being on spider-miles' team and show us his reaction to it being revealed HE was supposed to have those powers and the state of his universe is directly related to that.
yep if you slow it down by 1.5, technically Miles from 42 is not a villain but probably a vigilante/anti-hero more then likely after his father passing.
If y’all are confused with why Miguel is the way he is, he got his powers by getting his DNA spliced with 50% spider DNA causing him to have a lot of abilities Spider-Man usually has, but also a lot that are unique. A big thing is that he doesn’t have spider-sense at all and can’t stick to walls so he has to use his retractable claws to climb, and the fangs he has contain a paralyzing venom similar to what a spider would have.
the way they not only use each Spider's and villain's theme constantly but also how the art style and ANIMATION STYLE of almost every Spider is entirely different???? this movie is a masterpiece of artwork through and through, regardless of how you feel about Spider-man. watching this in theaters was something i cannot even describe
You know this reaction was made with loven and you know they were hyped to react to this Big Props to editor san as always the artist on the thumbnail! Big W! This Movie Was Just Great.
"What's important is not standing by while allowing someone to suffer or die because you do nothing if you don't get that, then you don't know the first thing about being spider-man." -spider-man edge of time I kid you not this quote came to my head during the "intervention" scene and as a long-time spider-man fan, it made the experience of watching this movie in theaters much more epic

@@thatoneblackdude3333 He wasn't supposed to be Spider-Man, and to balance it out the OTHER Spider-Man died, Miguel literally says that???? @@geraftc but again the canonical event already was messed up by miles existing so it's clearly more then just interfering with the Canon we literally learn near the end that Canon events can change and nothing bad happened so it was clearly something Miguel did wrong spacificly .
Honestly, my favourite part of the movie is how many small details that add up to a lot. It's clear that they put a lot of love into this film. Hobie was helping Miles throughout the entire film, like "Use the palms" for when he first meets Miles and when Miles gets trapped or when he steals a bunch of tech to make the watch for Gwen. The use of 42 literally everywhere. In different cinemas, there's minor differences in the movies etc. Even in the first movie, they showed Miles' shift from the Prowler to Spider-man with his senses. God, I love these movies.
Another fantastic detail would be something about the person who voices Earth-42 Miles. Early in the film when Miles is having a fantasy of telling his parents he’s Spider-man his mom says “I hear that Spider-man’s Puerto Rican” and Miles responds with “Ehh, he seems more Dominican to me.” Earth-42 Miles’s voice actor is named Jharrel Jerome and as it turns out, he is of Dominican descent IRL. Man, this movie is incredible!
When his spider senses shift from purple to blue and red, the prowler already existed and was his uncle, so he wasn't supposed to be the prowler in earth-1610. The change in color is not because of that, but because Green Goblin was there before Peter shows up (the colors were purple and green, not just purple). His focus shifted from Osborn to Peter when they connected through their senses, that's why the colors changed.
Bro I just wrote about hobie. Glad I wasn't the only one who noticed and loved that part. The "there you go" "hobie you're not helping" "good." Is my favorite. Basically the only one rooting, believing, supporting Miles. He is great
I thought it was only me who noticed, the prowler miles has a slight accent cause he’s been with his mom longer than his dad , that was a crazy little detail
To Sheera wondering about how the cannon events occur or work, it appeared that most spider persons loss Uncle Ben or Uncle Aaron, in Miles case after getting their powers. They also ended up losing additional people after that, which was seemingly their cannon event. For instance Peter B. loss May and Tobey loss Harry. And also there were cases where Uncle Ben didn't appear to be their cannon event. Gwen loss Peter (and was going to lose her father). They showed Andrew's Spider-man cannon event was somehow losing Captain Stacey, but he also loss Gwen. Tom loss May, which could have been his cannon event, but he also loss Tony too. And even in this movie, they made it seem like Uncle Aaron was Miles' cannon event, but he is also scheduled for another, as Sheera said. So I just think the overarching theme for the spider people is that they are literally created and shaped by multiple tragedies.
It was pointed out to me during the first movie when rewatching with friends. When Miles gets bit by the Earth-42 Spider you can see his color palette glitch from Prowler to Spider-Man. His original "canon" event probably would have been his dad getting caught up against a villain and eventually becoming the Prowler to fix things his own way with the help of his uncle.
From Daniel Pemberton's music score, Metro Boomin's music album and the most important piece of them all, the animators. All of them gave it their best despite the strenous work environment and produced a CINEMATIC MASTERPIECE. This one is going down in the records
One of the best animated movies of all time, no doubt about it. If you guys noticed Hobie taking things off the wall in the Spider Society HQ, he actually stole the parts to make the multiverse hopper device since he figured it was much better than the gizmo that he and the rest of the spider people got. And the Earth-199999 line was referenced directly from the events that took place in No Way Home, which would mean that Earth-199999 is the MCU universe.
Question. Does the TSA prevent just Earth-199999's timeline from splitting into multiple universes (until female Loki killed Kang), or are they supposed to manage all of the timelines for every universe? Because if the MCU is canon for the Spiderverse, would that mean that at some point the Spider Society would've had to deal with TSA agents, and will now eventually need to fight multiple Kang the Conquerors? (And maybe even utilize Alioth?)
I’ve watched many channels react to this movie now, and by far, you guys were the most fun to watch! Ya’ll were locked in, making so many great points throughout, laughing at all the jokes and cracking so many of your own. Just really cool overall!!👍✨
One of the things I found really cool was the use of the music when he realises he’s in the wrong dimension. If you go back and watch the first movie you’ll notice that the song that’s playing when he has his hand cut out of Gwen’s hair and is hearing his own thoughts really loudly is super similar to when he’s talking to himself realising he’s in the wrong dimension
To give further information on Miles G. Morales (Prowler Miles). From a released deleted scene and info in the art book, it seems like he’s a Robin Hood esque vigilante. In the deleted scene it was shown he and and Uncle Araon were stealing medical supplies from someone and giving it to those who needed it. To spread more light on this, in the art book it’s said that the sinister six cartel took over New York City in earth 42. So most likely Spider-man (Miles) and Prowler (Miles) will team up to try and stop them and that’s probably where Gwen’s team shows up to help. when Spot was telling his origin story, you can see in one frame when he takes the 42 Spider, that Spider was supposed to bite Miles G. Morales (earth 42 Miles). So earth 42 Miles was supposed to be the one and only Spider-Man in his world till it went to Miles’s dimension and bit him.
@@jfoster8624 In the deleted scene he was stealing medical supplies for the sake of someone else who needed it. His mom and uncle didn’t need it. But a kid in the hospital bed who his mom was trying to help needed it. It literally shows him trying to help others. Plus it’s already been stated that he’s a vigilante on his earth similar to how Spider-man’s considered a vigilante, except Prowler Miles seems to be a more serious vigilante.
@@t.j.1584 he's only helping his mom she happens to work at a hospital it's not him helping others he just happened to help but I doubt it was his goal
@@jfoster8624 In the art book it says “In this alternate reality, the sinister six have been able to flourish and take over the world. We wanted to create a world where it felt like Aaron and Miles G. Morales of earth-42 are the only heroes.” We don’t know much about his character to completely confirm what his intentions maybe. But from what the art book says about him and from what I’ve seen from the deleted scene, I’m making a guess that he is a vigilante figure that tries to help out others when he can, but also looks out for his family as top priority.
It's really weird seeing Live action and Animation together in this movie Like cartoony looking Miles interacted with a real life actor of Prowler or the Spot talking to Ms Chen it feels like a Roger rabbit effect It's really spectacular and interesting idea of Different mediums blend together
Omg, this movie was amazing. And the soundtrack was phenomenal. Also, did anyone notice how the guy next to the spot during his backstory looks like the Miles we see at the end?

8:48 fun trivia fact! The very first time there was a Spider-Woman in the comics was way back in 1974, before Jessica Drew, and she was a black woman named Valerie. Fighting against the Vulture no less!
10:49 One thing that may end up baking your noodles, about the use of colours: When Miles met Spider-Man in the collider room in the first one, his aura colour changed from green and purple (Prowler's colours) to red and blue (Spider-Man's). They were setting up Miles being on the path to becoming Prowler already in Into The Spider-Verse...
Hobie being introduced as a love triangle threat being a fakeout as he immediately starts calling Miles Peter Pan, cuz he calls Gwen Gwendy will never not be satisfying. (also apparently hes around 20, so hes definitely at best a brother figure to both Miles, 15 and Gwen, 16.)
They did make up some of the Spider-folks just for the movie! And also Hobie's animation apparently took them the most time to figure out. Loved this movie and yall's reaction, can't wait for the next one!
The image of Donald Glover wearing a spider-man t shirt in an episode of community was the creative spark behind Miles' creation by Brian Michael Bendis. So him having a cameo is kinda meta.
Dunno if yall noticed but when Miguel is explaining the whole spider verse thing usually when they show miles hes seperated into two sides those who are against and those who are with thats why Hobbie is constantly on Miles left side(our right)
Idk if anyone said it yet but this one goes to Sheera. Gambino indirectly created Miles Morales because someone or even himself pointed out there had to be a black Spiderman. He even appears with a shirt/costume in the show community (which appears in the background in the first movie where his uncle was watching). They couldn't make him a black Spiderman for being too old but still made the comics inspired by him and it eventually made them turn him into uncle Aaron instead for the MCU. Hobbie Brown was the original prowler in another universe as well. Therefore Hobbie catching Prowler is also an easter egg.
I work at a Sony studio and had the privilege of hearing Patrick O'Keefe himself talking about his thought process about everything. Such a great piece of art and showcase of animation tech. Thanks guys for posting this on RUclips ❤.

Good catch
Nice
Also Peter Parker wasn't suppose to die either, Peter Parker and Uncle Aaron having unexpected deaths is the result of Miles becoming spider-man instead of Miles-42.
thus Earth 42 Miles Morales also facing the consequences since he was the one supposed to be the Spiderman. Ultimately, he became the Prowler
Never thought of that lol. Andrew really went through it huh
Yooooo that’s a great catch!

Hobie was many people's favorite (and rightfully so) but man, I feel like Miles was such a fucking badass in this movie, he's so confident and the way he stays true to himself is so cool. Spider Man has always tried to save both the people he loves and the innocent. I think I remember that there was a scene cut in Into where Peter B says this.
Miles’ convo with his mom is arguably the best scene in the film. The intimacy, the layers, and the relevance to the whole film.
That's a really good example on how to tie internal conflict to external conflict.

YUP! Hobie is older than Gwen/Miles/Pravitr, he sees himself as the big brother who's also the fighting transitional punk paving the way for the next gen to take over and do it right
pretty sure he was fuckin gwen gang
This movie got a crazy amount of detail. When they were first going to meet Miguel, Hobie was breaking off pieces of tech while he was talking to Miles. That's the tech he used for the watch he gave Gwen later on. Love this movie.
Also I just noticed something. When Miles is electrocuting Miguel’s suit, I noticed Miguel kept trying to move, but he couldn’t budge. Was miles holding him in place or am I missing something? If so, miles is hella strong
@@clarkkent2005 - I think Miguel's muscles seized up when he was being electrocuted by Miles.
I love how Miles had immediate chemistry with the spider girl in the gaming chair

Didn’t he also do the fights in Owl House season 1? Might be wrong but
I'm sure someone already said it somewhere, but Hobie's animation framing was done in a completely unconventional style as a way of showing that he's so against the system.

Spider-Man has always been THE hero for me. He always saves people. If the questions is "do you save this one person or all these people" he always tries to save everyone and that's what I love about him
So seeing those hundreds of iteration of spider-man just accepting that they have to let people die really fucked me up.

The reason the elevator is upside is to make a callback to the climax of the first movie. When Miles takes his leap of faith, he falls downward to the city, but it's inverted, showing him rising to the occasion, to the challenge. But he did her dirty at the beginning though. Exposing her with the sweater n toothbrush having Miles thinking like 'Girl what you been up to?!' Nearly had them all fucked up like 😂😂

@@benlee7947he doesn’t. hobie’s actualy the most helpful to miles:
- says to ‘use the palms’ in terms of electricity powers and breaking the barrier, later helps him out in breaking away from 2099’s barrier.
Yoooo...
The perfect sequel to a near flawless movie. The animation, characters, and action are even more incredible this time around. I especially love how well Miguel as an antagonist represents the fundamental flaw of the Spider Society’s doctrine: that Spider-People are defined by their trauma and that their trauma is essential.
Very much agreed
True
it's not a flaw or doctrine it's a fact of the observable reality. every strong and exceptional person has faced some kind of trauma and challenges in their life that helps build their character and resilience

The great thing about 50:17 is that it works as a "Leap of Faith". Miles was the only Spider-Man to fall through the gaps in the turbines. Every other one crashed along the way until buddy blew it all up
The fact they held out to watch it for us is crazy....love yall.
oh wow! I def wouldnt have waited bc I watched it 4 times in theatresXD
Fun fact: If you rewatch the first movie, at the scene with Gwen's origin story, when she talks about not being able to save her best friend we see her silhouette fighting against the Lizard's silhouette and when she punches him back the lizard's shadow slowly shifted to Peter's.
Solid detail
Gwen's Peter and her dad appear during Gwen's backstory in Into The Spiderverse.
But they look different because we are shown what Miles is imagining as Gwen speaks.
He imagined Capt. Stacy as a skinny older guy and Peter as a fit young man, like 1610's Peter.
This movie really shows the diversity of animation and how great the medium is for telling a story. Also, that thumbnail is amazing.
It’s kind of nice seeing a fresh reaction after seeing this movie countless of times. They fr make it seem like it’s your first time seeing the movie again.

My favourite bit in this film I learned from Spanish speakers is that is when Miguel says "ay coño" when he tells the other Spider-people to chase Miles; it's a common cuss in a lot of South American countries (Oscar Isaac is Guatemalan) but since Miguel is supposed to be Mexican, he basically said a super R rated cuss in Mexican Spanish :)))) in a PG-13 movie LOL
(it's what I was told anyway)
Kind of like in the old harry potter movies, the kids say Bloody all the time-but apparently in England its more intense a cuss than we think, or it used to be haha
Ni sabia eso 😲
I just see it as "ay puta" 🤣
From what I heard it's pretty much the Spanish equivalent of "For Fucks Sake"
Thing is... this is a PG movie. So ATSV had its _Beetlejuice_ moment.
As incredible as it sounds, they stepped the animation game up even harder in this one. Especially the background art was incredible, so emotionally evocative

By the time the third movie comes out, Miles won’t even be grounded any more!

@@jadziawynter9241 That’d be crazy but I feel like they’re going to kill off Rio and what if she knows Miles is spider-man?
I already know this reaction gonna be fire as always

@@1999bazznah they just think Hobie is smashing Gwen instead
Matpat on Film Theory theorized that was is happening is not disruption of canon events, but rather Incursions.
@@vijayanand6650 matpats theories are actually garbage. dont even listen to them wth
There are some leak if you want to know tell me (Scene that were supossed to be in this moovie but get cut for the next)

Lupa screaming "SHOOT HIM!!!" in the background of the reaction transition always gets me cackling bro, it's so good 😂😂😂
The Miles of Earth 42 was meant to be spider-Man if you look back at when Miles fought spot at the beginning in the illustrations the spot shows you can clearly see the spider heading towards Earth 42 Miles before being transported meaning that Miles was meant to be bitten but didn’t therefore creating a world with no Spider-Man and ultimately making Miles the prowler
Honestly really interesting if they go the route of 42 Miles being on spider-miles' team and show us his reaction to it being revealed HE was supposed to have those powers and the state of his universe is directly related to that.
That’s definitely gonna be something they gonna have to figure out, those scenes could be incredible with the acting
There's probably a Spider-Man Peter
yep if you slow it down by 1.5, technically Miles from 42 is not a villain but probably a vigilante/anti-hero more then likely after his father passing.

@@thatoneblackdude3333 He wasn't supposed to be Spider-Man, and to balance it out the OTHER Spider-Man died, Miguel literally says that???? Honestly, my favourite part of the movie is how many small details that add up to a lot. It's clear that they put a lot of love into this film.
Hobie was helping Miles throughout the entire film, like "Use the palms" for when he first meets Miles and when Miles gets trapped or when he steals a bunch of tech to make the watch for Gwen.
The use of 42 literally everywhere.
In different cinemas, there's minor differences in the movies etc.
Even in the first movie, they showed Miles' shift from the Prowler to Spider-man with his senses. God, I love these movies.
Technically hobie helps miles even before he gives him the tip about his venom strike. Hobie literally breaks down a barrier that's in miles' way.
The cinema difference isn’t a good thing
Bro I just wrote about hobie. Glad I wasn't the only one who noticed and loved that part. The "there you go" "hobie you're not helping" "good." Is my favorite. Basically the only one rooting, believing, supporting Miles. He is great
I thought it was only me who noticed, the prowler miles has a slight accent cause he’s been with his mom longer than his dad , that was a crazy little detail
‘What war did we lose?’ had me fucking dead holy shit
Canon*. Not that hard.

10:49 One thing that may end up baking your noodles, about the use of colours:
When Miles met Spider-Man in the collider room in the first one, his aura colour changed from green and purple (Prowler's colours) to red and blue (Spider-Man's).
