Fun Fact!: All of the lego scenes were animated by a 14y/o! He got the gig after re-creating the trailer of the movie in his lego style. They raached out to him and offered him the job for lego spiderman!
Also my fav 'easter egg' is at roughly 29:56 ,, The Spot is in the exact pose and colors from Miles "Expectations" mural from the first movie!
The Lego scene was very much a win-win. The biggest thing that drew Sony in was the fact this kid did it in a very short amount of time - something we're all aware is essential in this business. He recreated the trailer in just 2 weeks (I think) all in Blender. So not only would they get these scenes done very quickly, but by having Preston Mutanga work on what would be the biggest movie of 2023 it would give him massive headway in starting a career in animation should he choose to go that path.

Another Small detail that miles was in a different universe is his mom has green eyes in earth 42, also I love the detail that earth 42 miles has more of an accent since he was mostly raised by his mom

They actually did the impossible. They somehow managed to top the first movie.
Remember how instead of the real Spider-Man we got Agent Spider in Invincible last season? Imagine if they use Agent Spider as a cameo for the next movie and thus make him canon to the Spider-Verse since he mentions it to Invincible. “I know you’re from another dimension. Got a lot of experience with that, especially lately.”
Could they do that? Wouldn’t the creators of Invincible be able to sue? Sorry, I don’t really know how that works.
You need to get cross company agreements. Likely too much work to show him. But could parody the name
Agent spider was an original creation by the invincible show because Sony didnt wanna let them use spider man. It would be pretty shitty for them to ask to use Agent Spider

My head-canon is Agent Spider was there during the craziness of the final chase scene here and after seeing Miguel go nuts he nope’d out of the Spider Society. Hence his exhausted attitude about multiverse stuff.
Miguel O’Hara (Spider-Man 2099) is VERY different from the other Spiders. He has retractable talons on his fingers and toes so that way he can be able to stick to surfaces, and even attack enemies. Instead of spider sense, all of his senses are extremely enhanced almost like Daredevil. And he has fangs that he can use to inject a paralyzing venom into his enemies and knock them out for a full day.
Wish they would have shown more usage of his powers
I honestly put Across up there with The Dark Knight and Empire Strikes Back as one of the greatest movie sequels of all time.

The "Tom Holland Spider-man" was mentioned in the beginning by Miguel, when he says Dr. Strange and Spider-man from Earth-1999999. Also Earth-1999999 is where the MCU takes place.

The opening sequence, from the intro to Gwen joining the Spider-Society, is what INSTANTLY let me know this movie was gonna be better than I was hoping. They seriously didn't have to go this hard, but we're glad they did.
I was a little worried before watching it because I was like "How could this possibly compare to the first movie?" but I agree, after the opening with Gwen, the visual storytelling, the dynamic action scene with vulture, I was already so blown away and it just continued to do that to me throughout the whole movie. It's still so hard for me to believe that these movies are so insanely good.

55:19 About Tom Holland's Spiderman, there is actually a refference. At 6:37 Miguel mentions an event with Dr Strange and Spiderman which is direct refference to "Spider-Man: No Way Home".
And Donald Glover is in Homecoming as Aaron Davis, so while his Prowler in this movie isn't necessarily a Tom Holland/Spider-Man villain, he's playing the same character, more or less. He's still Aaron Davis.

And it's even more funnier when Miles used the correct one minutes later. Everytime I watch that scene, I now remember her statement and it gets even funnier as time goes on.
If you're wondering about the timeline of this movie from the last. It's been 16 months since Gwen has last seen Miles. It was a year before Miguel showed up with his universal traveling watch and then Gwen was working with him for 4 months up until the spot showed up.
Miguel has more than a year of backstory. Something doesn’t add up with him.
And Mayday looks at least 18 months old. (Plus nine months pregnancy.)

55:45 That's the whole story of the first spiderverse, the location where he was doing graffiti with his uncle was where Kingpin hid the collider and they were testing it at that point, that's how all the spiderman got into that dimension + the spider that bit Miles. Spot got created at the end of the movie when Miles destroyed the collider.
The movie was 2 hours long and yet it felt way shorter. When the "To be continued..." popped up on the screen, I genuinely wanted to shout "Are you shitting me?!" in disbelief. I even sat through the credits until the very end. That's how bad I didn't want it to end.

The entire theater groaned when it ended. We were all in disbelief!! I damn near cried during the credits. The song paired with the animation is so cool to look at
@@Zbeast5972 I had the exact opposite experience in theater, I took my little cousin to see it at her request. The entire crowd clapped, cheered, screamed positive aspirations. There was a good energy from my experience.
I was really blown away by this movie, and... yeah. The whole "How is this movie going to end?" feeling hit me as we were closing in on the run time. I'm pretty heartbroken that the release date of Beyond the Spider-Verse has already been pushed out, with no speculative update on when they'll have it finished. Still, I really fell in love with Hobie after watching a video from Schnee about him. He is a character who is not only tricking the other characters in the movie, but he's even playing tricks on the audience. He's so easy to dismiss early on, but for the entire time he's in the movie, he is... basically organizing an underground resistance to Miguel's Spider Society. Even the way he's just stealing seemingly random and inconsequential bits of tech whenever you see him there just seems like he's messing around, but its actually him stealing the parts to make his own multiverse devices that aren't subject to Miguel's control. Even his whole "use the palm, not just the fingers" thing is setting up Miles to be able to escape the prisons... just... brilliant.
Thought I'd be waiting ages for this one to make it to RUclips! I liked the first one but I absolutely fell in love with this one. Thanks for the reaction 😊👍

the Spider that bit Miles was brought to his world through a test run by Johnny Ohn (The Spot)
I think Miles rescuing Inspector Singh actually contradicts Miguel's speech about canon events; Inspector Singh would have died from the event caused by The Spot & Miles, but they are from another Universe which means they shouldn't cause a canon event that would effect Pavitr's life as Spider-Man. Maybe this will get explained/proven in the 3rd movie.

In most movies, the concept of time isn’t that simple. Google the butterfly effect and the chaos theory. Even if Miles + Spot weren’t there (which they wouldn’t have been if he hadn’t been bitten in the first place) it’s likely there would’ve been another event, in some other form, that would’ve caused the death of Inspector Singh. It’s really just the butterfly effect, it would’ve happened regardless at some point. The fact that this one was triggered by the presence of Miles + Spot (a villain of Miles’ creation) gives even more credence to Miguel that Miles is not only an anomaly but a liability.
Miguel's theory was off from bat because if Miles wasn't supposed to be Spiderman why does he have to stick to spiderman canon and why does the og 42 miles still have a universe despite not getting bit and his "canon" still remains intact (i.e his dad dying). I think it's safe to say Miguel only knows what he knows and took that as fact, can't blame him for assuming since he really fucked up with that other universe, but also kinda blame him.
@@xXTheRedrubyXx I've heard theories that Earth 1610 "reset" after that Peter Parker died, and all of the spider-man canon for that universe transferred to Miles which kept the universe from collapsing after Peter's death. I'm not set on any particular theory because the whole canon idea is kind of wobbly in general, but it kind of makes sense based on what's been established.

In the first movie when Miles meets the Spider-man from his earth, the senses are blue and red and Miles one’s were green and purple, the Prowler colours, which means in reality if Miles had not get bitten by the spider he would be the new Prowler in his dimension. Just a theory though
Seeing this in theatres in IMAX last year in the summer is still an unforgettable experience. And I’m not gonna lie, my audience was literally fed up when the To Be Continued popped up, but I wasn’t.

Both films are masterpieces in art and film making imo but the more i watch Across the Spiderverse the more I find that I enjoy it more than into the spiderverse.

The dialogue is so good in this film! The emotional impact during Mr. Morales speech at the party, the beautiful speech Rio gave to Miles, and the conversation between Spider Gwen and her dad always makes me tear up.😢

I'm sorry I need to tell this to every reactor. The lego scene was made by a young teenager from Ontario because he made a lego recreation of the initial teaser trailers for this movie and the creators loved it. Now it's arguably one of the best scenes in the whole film. It's such an awesome story, follow your passions!
Fun fact: This movie was first advertised as Across the Spiderverse Part 1 and the next one was gonna be Part 2, but they decided to drop the part 1 and 2 and rename the 3rd film "Beyond the Spiderverse". People who watched the first trailer knew this one would end in a cliffhanger, but not everyone watched that trailer lmao.
And the one after that will be called "Through the Spiderverse", and then "Around the Spiderverse", and then "Near the Spiderverse", and then "Slightly to the Left of the Spiderverse", and so on.

The MCU was unofficially called Earth-199999 by fans before Kevin Feige (head of Disney Marvel) confirmed it to be Earth-616 (the original comics universe, which became controversial due to the many differences from the comics). The concept of universes was a way to allow artists, writers, movies, cartoons, etc. to have an "excuse" to different stories around different Marvel characters. Implying different universes allowed the idea that different iterations were canonical. That's why you also had Spider-Man: No Way Home bring in both Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield from different "universes."
DC did the same as well, hence The Flash featuring Michael Keaton from Batman 1989 and even appearing briefly in the TV show as a separate Barry Allen. Before that, however, there was Crisis on Infinite Earths, which included different versions of DC characters from WB and DC crossing over, including Brandon Routh, Tom Welling, and Tyler Hoechlin as 3 different Supermen, even having Kevin Conroy (RIP), the voice of Batman for decades since the Animated Series, have a first-time live action appearance.
When you're a comics fan and love referential easter eggs and humor, it all can be seen as very "fanservice."

This movie is the Empire Strikes Back of our generation - a perfect escalation of the universe, the characters, the amazing plot, and of course a great cliffhanger pulling you into the third movie of the trilogy!
Fun fact: In the first movie, where Miles first met Peter from his universe and their spider senses were shown, Miles' had his colour change from Green and Purple to Blue and Red. Green and Purple being the colours of the Prowler as shown from this universe where the colours were mostly green and the jacket having a hint of purple.
About Tom Holland's Spider-Man... They actually did some references. The first one was said by Miguel while they were fighting The Vulture(He's talking about Spideys who made a disaster between universes, and he mentions Dr Strange & Spider-man from Earth-199999, the MCU Universe). The second one was whit the Childish Gambino's Prowler, bc he's actually the Prowler from the MCU. He appears in Spiderman:Homecoming as the role of Aaron, and he helps Holland's Spidey saying that he doesn't want all that alien weapons around bc of his little nephew.
And Tobey Maguire also appears, during the scenes of the "Uncle Ben's Deaths". There is a web where Uncle Ben is death on the floor, and on the side you can see Tobey crying.

This trilogy is absolutely shaping up to be the greatest superhero trilogy ever. I'm so excited for the new one. Also, the director described Gwen's universe as a "Water Color Mood Ring." The water colors change with the mood.
The Spider from Universe 42 was brought over by the scientist that built the collider in the first movie. When they tested it, they brought over that spider. The collider was essentially near the area where Miles threw up his Graffiti art which is why the spider bit him there.

I like how Miles and Pavitr (Indian Spidey) were the only ones with an upbeat, I can do anything disposition. Miguel's philosophy of canon and this is a job had kind of soured the rest of Spider-society.
53:10 That's the Miles of Earth-42 who was supposed to get bit by the spider and become Spider-Man. Earlier, when you see the movie bring up drawings in a notebook, you see the spider get sucked into a portal before it bit somebody with braids. The kid with braids is the Miles from this universe. I assume due to losing his father in Earth-42 that he ended up with his mom's accent.
Honestly the miles morales reveal as the prowler is one of the best I've seen in a long time.
Ik yall mentioned the soundtrack being great & that’s because the very well known hip-hop producer “Metro Boomin” was in charge of the whole thing! He even had a cameo in the movie in the spider chase scene with miles running from all the spiders in the spider society; the spider with dreadlocks in a white & black suit that says “you have nowhere to run” before Miles jumps out the window & then says “my bad everybody, there was somewhere to run” after Miles jumps out is Metro Boomin!
The only complaint I have in this movie is that it ends on a cliffhanger

Love this movie with the various art styles, the music, the animations. Walked out the cinema last year with a big smile on my face
Well, Miles was born in December... So if he's a junior in high school he's 16, close to 17.
And it's KIND OF implied that Gwen is his age... As when she got teleported into his dimension she went to his school and into his class/grade.
But it also kind of seems like she's supposed to be a little older, by maybe a year.
Though this film implies she's got "a thing" with Hobie, who is 100% older than 18.
I was in the theatre at the end of this movie, with my kids, and suddenly I realized that no way they could finish all of those plot threads by the end of it. I was awfully upset and grateful same time, because this left me hanging on a hook but we have a brand new movie to go ahead in this masterpiece of a story. And if, I say IF, they put in "Beyond the Spiderverse" what I thought should have been in this (aka a bunch of characters always connected with Spidey and the multiverse stuff in the comics) I'm gonna scream out loud, even in the theatre.
I love that earth 42's color scheme is prowler colors and graffiti themed.

One young kid made an amazing stop-motion Lego version of the trailer to one of these two movies so they hired him to make that entire Lego scene in this movie! That was made by one school kid!
This was The Dark Knight of all animated movies.
Couple of small details about Prowler Miles: He has a more latin coded accent because he spends more time with his mom without his dad around. If you look closely at Spider 42 that gave Miles his powers, it was actually supposed to bite Prowler Miles before it got warped, meaning Miles 42 was supposed to Spider-man and OUR Miles was supposed to become the Prowler. If you remember in the first movie, Miles Spidey-sense went from Green/Purple coded (Prowler colours) to Red/Blue coded (Spider-man colours) because his destiny changed!
Love the DonGlover cameo since he's the reason Miles even got written. And Yes, he is part of the Tom Holland universe since he was part of Homecoming where his character Aaron mentions a nephew 😏

So the reason for the cliff-hanger, they were already working on the 3rd movie and it was supposed to be released in March 2024 (less than a year after Across the Spider-Verse) but the actor/writer strike has delayed that. We're not sure when its going to come out, but hopefully sometime in the next year.
Fun fact: 39:32 this spiderman is actually Metro Boomin, who done the soundtrack to this movie.
