I don't know if you guys seen any Jackie Chan action movies, but not only that Jackie Chan voiced splinter in this movie, the way they animated/choreograph splinters fight scene is also based of Jackie chan's iconic fight scenes style - kicking butts while being stressed/worried, clumsy (comedic fight) and the use of the environment is such a Jackie Chan thing.
I always loved Jackie Chan’s fights not just for the humor, but it also makes the main character look more vulnerable, like you watch someone get hurt or tired and whatnot, it makes for entertaining sequences
One of the best TMNT adaptations. The animation, the characters, the fight choreography, and the fact that they were voiced by actual teenagers are all awesome, and I love how they really focused on the turtles and Splinter as a family over them as ninjas.
it is a bit different from the other adaptations in that I've never seen Splinter being made the b u. t of so many jokes, he's a serious character in every other adaptation. 2007 tmnt still takes the cake for me personally
is this considered good animation? it was so ugly and it felt like it was 4 frames per second. they were all kiddy and annoying too. I guess I just hate TMNT.
I don't know how to explain it, but the ending fight where the people of New York helping the Turtles and the Mutants stop Superfly. That got me a bit emotional. It has like big Spider-Man Energy, those sequences across various Spider-Man movies where it's like "hey, Spider-Man needs our help, he's one of us, we should help him" which got me all emotional, like almost tearing up. This was the same way. The fucking Ninja Turtles movie had me crying.
Being born and raised in the Bronx, I loved that this movie embodied how teens here in NYC actually act, and appreciate that yall caught that. Great reaction as always. This has to be my favorite react channel honestly.
3:02 Fun Fact: The animation/art-style for this movie/universe is kind of like oil painting or claymation like but mostly mixed, fused, inspired and influenced by middle and high school notebook sketches, Seeking to be based off the teenager aspect of imperfect drawings and also the story being as an allegory for teenage identity, explores themes of acceptance and desires to fit in as the filmmakers drew inspiration from teenage coming-of-age films to make the turtles feel relatable as actual teens and be voiced by actual teenagers. Also 92% of the artists that worked on this movie worked on Sony Picture Animations’ The Mitchells vs the machines and the other 8 artists worked on the first 2 Spider-Verse movies!
On top of that it was directed by Jeff Rowe who co-directed The Mitchell's vs The Machines. As well as Gravity Falls creator, Alex Hirsch, in this film too.
I liked those depictions of teenagers more. If I wanted to watch a more realistic version of teenagers I'd just watch boy meets world or something no one is allowed to think of teenagers as cool anymore they need to be shown with anxiety and awkwardness.
Honestly this movie, Batman vs TMNT, and The Last Ronin actually got me back into TMNT. That Comic book is how TMNT should be. Can’t wait for the Video Game to come out in a few years.
The IDW comics is the results of the turtles creators actually liking their many versions and bringing together their elements. Making it the best representation of the franchise
This is my new favourite Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie to date, I just loved everything about this movie, the visuals the soundtrack, and the stellar and unique animation, and I especially love these new takes on the characters and how the turtles truly act and felt like young teenage up and coming heroes that just want to live their lives the way they want to its truly beautiful how for once in TMNT media that are actually accepted by humanity very early on their careers. Can't wait for the sequel with Shredder
This is really impressive, especially for a franchise that started out as basically a Daredevil shitpost between two stoners. Also the guy who helps Splinter was modeled after and voiced by Kevin Eastmen, one of the turtles Co-creators
Nah, live action needs to move over. Animation has definitely taken over the movie industry. Also, I love whoever does the thumbnail illustrations of you three!
@YaBoyRoshi, 38:32 Splinter's best friend was a cockroach remember? He learned how to speak cockroach with Kevin, lol. I thought it was cool that they brought that back into the story.
This and Across the Spider-Verse are straight up top tier movies from this year. Some of the coolest scenes in both movies and the suspense in Across towards the end...animated movies have been fantastic this year.
Bro, as a teenager who grew up with TMNT _and_ who's as old as the Turtles themselves, this was a great movie. The pop culture references, 2020 humor, and the personalities of the Turtles were spot on. The nostalgia hit hard for me. Legit everyone in my school used the word "sus" and "rizz" in 2018-2023, and as a teen who also uses those words.....the humor of these teens were just 100% spot on. They LITERALLY act like me. The anime references, like _Attack On Titan_ , _Jujutsu Kaisen_ reference (the Gojo sticker on Donnie's Bo staff), and _My Hero Academia_ reference (the sticker of Deku next to the Improv tryouts paper Mikey was signing)...... was amazing. I literally love anime and I loved all these references. The 80's-90's music they were playing, like "What's Up?", "No-Diggity", "Supa Fly".....those were also amazing. Literally grew up with those songs. And the JOJO HOODIE DONNIE WAS WEARING. Nah. That was just beautiful. The Triceraton reference in Splinter's backstory (the Triceraton on the truck) was a very nice touch. The Triceratons are one of my favorite TMNT villains, bro (Number one being Shredder/Oroku Saki and Krang). I'm confused on why Casey wasn't in this movie, but I hope he's in the next TMNT movie as well as Krang. Saving Shredder for the sequel of TMNT: Mutant Mayhem was a smart choice imo. The Turtles just aren't skilled or strong enough in this movie to beat him yet. Also, I think Cynthia Utrom's going to turn out to be a Krang, because her last name is Utrom and that's literally like a type of Krang. Plus her color scheme. I dunno, but I'm holding onto that little theory of mine.
It’s great to hear how this version resonates with you. This is what too many old heads have missed about this movie. It’s not for them. It’s for the new generation, so the franchise can live on.
@@pillar81 Thanks! Yeah, I loved the movie. Watched it 5 times in the theaters lol. Also, sorry for all that, I always info dump on my favorite shows/movies 😭

They actually asked the kid that voiced Donnie about some of his favourite anime, and he said Jojo and Attack on Titan, so they made that part of Donnie's character

@ 30:30 Not butter because of milk. Butter because it's a BTS song. They were trying to sing the song Butter for Donnie because he wanted to go to a BTS concert lol 💜
I really love how they got actual teenagers to voice the Teenage mutant ninja turtles and that the artstyle is supposed to be like a teenager's sketchbook and graffiti painting
Anyone else realize how the puke looks exactly like nickelodeon slime, superfly mega whale form or whatever you wanna call it he had sea turtles under his chin and I really REALLY love the way they had master splinter fighting because thats how jackie fights in his movies

I finally got to see this movie today after it dropped for streaming so now I’m here to watch what I already know is gonna be a goated reaction. This movie slapped so much harder than I thought it would
