I've been rocking the same laptop for two years also, the battery failed me as well and replaced it as well(have a vid as well *shameless plug). Mine still works well but I outgrew it and required a much powerful one, finally got a mi notebook pro gtx.

I've also had that thin one thin line on screen before and I thought thats the end of my notebook. But after couple of windows update it has gone! One year has passed and it didnt come back!
The battery life is definitely horrible too. Mine wont open without u plugging it. Sometimes it can fully charge sometimes it wont. I believe this too is a software issue.
Personally, i believe this product is being attacked through its software. This has been a threat to apple mac since it was launched because of its price over specs over look. I'm not pointing any fingers but with the current technology it is almost impossible to have those obvious defects in a very short time.

try acer brand. my oldest one still alive and working fine. it's with me for 15 years old already. i never replace the battery since whenever i decided to use it for for long hours, just detach the battery and use electric power fully. i tried few brand too like lenovo, samsung, hp ect but nothing can stand last as acer. it's pretty robust and heavy duty. it is however costly a little bit but it worth every penny. but hey if you're working from one place, then just buy pc. it's way better than any laptop. you dont need to worry about the keyboard, monitor and battery anymore. you want faster performance, use ssd. better gpu, use external gpu,

Mine is about 1.5 years old. It is still in great working order, has great battery life and flies with Kubuntu as the operating system!
    Reasons not to buy:
    1. The touchpad is way too spongy. I had to place paper under it to get it have a decent click response. This to me is a deal breaker. Gestures on it however are very good.
    2. The screen is way too glossy and glary! It is ok in a semi dark room but can get a lot of reflections.
    3. BIOS. I am locked out of the bios despite being confident of the password. Many suffer this issue.
    4. Cheap price can go up due to import costs. You may be better off getting a local machine that has your country's correct plug. I cannot source a local power equivalent for the Xiaomi either.
