Not sure about other people, but I wouldn't say no to a video about loudness, saturation and waveforms in relation to bass.
Thanks for checking the pedal out!
If anyone has any questions, I'll be happy to answer what I can here
I am not sure if it can work with "down tuned" bass, I don't use ultra low tuning, but like a B string etc, will it get muddy ? I don't see a blend knob it is why I ask :D
With such a great sounding bass would have have been valuable to hear it direct first with the pedal bypassed in order to hear the "fatness" qualities this pedal is adding. Bypass should be included in any review of a preamp pedal (that isn't some kind of modulation or special fx)
@Funky Monk I can certainly make an invoice with a very cheap pedal, but very expensive shipping
Would you still use this with the bass rig?
@@CathalOBrien2014 I can certainly be used with the BASSRIG.
These were imagined with a few usecases in mind.
The first (and the usecase the OD aspect will be most useful in) is as an overdrive, boost or just general tone shaper into an amp, bassrig or preamp of you choice. Be that always on or as an effect.
The direct-to-console DI stuff is a happy perk of it being a 610 in a pedal, and bass players often using clean DI tones. Running this direct-to-console gives you some nice tone sweatening ability and allows you to shape that signal, rather than having a flat DI.
We use ours with BASSRIGs, amps and for making a clean DI sound a little more "proper" for lack of a better term.
Great sound combo!
Sounds great. If I was recording and playing like I was before I had children, this would be difficult to not impulse buy.
Im very proud and happy with my new DSX Bass.
I have pluged my Cali76 compct bass behind the DSX and it sounds awsome 💪 !! The drivesound ist fantastic and comes with a whide soundrange.
After i saw this video i get intressted at this pedal and decided to try it out, and it works great in my live bandsound and in the homestudio .
Thnx Gregor for this . thnx Phil ( great performance..)
Sounds great ... I love it !
Killer playing!!! Love it.
Every demo I have seen for this has been excellent, I honestly can’t tell whether I like the lower gain or higher gain stuff more
For a first pedal in your chain, it's fantastic!
Sounds good, how would it work with an upright bass? Like what you present but would like to see you engage with us upright players.
Could you, when you do new pedals etc, use a vintage type bass, but also a modern high fi sounding bass for comparison. Just so we see what is like for both types of bass. Would be awesome. I have no fender style basses you see
It sounds very musical!
Killin it Phil!
Sounds great! I already watched a different review on this pedal this morning. Maybe I need one?
Phil is killing it again!!!
What is the signal chain for the clean settings? Are u plugging into an amp, preamp, etc. or is the DCX plugged directly into the interface like u did for the dirt tones right after?
I'd like to hear what that bass sounds like without the pedal.
Just click and studio quality and professional sound…fantastic
Sounds and looks much more useable than both UA Bassrig pedals for me, wich are more like overdrive pedals to me, but with way too much ugly drive (like that of our friends from Finland...). Not for me. I like my various Tech21 pedals way more live (use the blend knob!! 😉).
(I’ve played a vintage early ‘70’s 8x10 Ampeg rig for years in the late ‘90’s. You could not get it to overdrive, really. It was powerful but super clean (300 watt!!). IMO the SVT head was not the secret, the 8x10 cabinet was (no tweeter). Briljant design! Nowadays I play one or up to four Ampeg AV 2x10’s: same sound. Mostly I use two with various heads. Soundpeople love those: not too much sub lows, just like the original 8x10’s. You cannot compare those with the Ampeg stuff from the ‘90’s up untill todays shitty SVT stuff!)
But, back to the UA pedal: I am going to try this pedal out for sure!
Hey Gregor, which strings did you have on the Sandberg California this time? Is it still the Dogals?
Sounded great, nice and crisp!
nope, a fresh set of Dunlop Marcus Miller SuperBrights
it would be wonderful if you would switch the pedal off to listen to the clean sound of the instrument...
At the absolute minimum, that needs to be done.
I believe you hear the clean tone at 3:53
This guy could run a bass through a can of beans and make it sound good
ohh mein Gott, schon wieder was auf der Liste :))
I would really like to hear it against the Caveman BP-1, I was looking at that for a while but we got a new contender!
I have a BP-1 Compact and I’m thinking of getting this and running it before the BP-1C.
@@Campo007 Let me know how that goes.. I think I only need one of them in my small board...... maybe both for the bigger setup ;)
@@frasergrant717 I have only a small board. Thinking is to use use this as an EQ. so signal chain would be, Bass>Cali76>Hamstead Subspace>DCXBass into the BP-1C effects loop.
@@Campo007 I'm gonna test the two and see, I would primarily be using it as a preamp/colouration. Thanks!
@@Campo007Me too
Ok there's goes my Saturn VI, lol.
Dumb newbie question - why would you use a pre-amp pedal before an amp which of course already has a pre-amp ... or do you connect it straight to a power amp?
It allows you to toy around with different flavors. Also there’s a class of studio type preamps that are a lot better than what you find integrated in most amps. If amps had better sounding DI outs maybe this genre of pedal wouldn’t even exist.
Thank you for replying. I love you guys :0)@@basstheworldofficial
Is Phil using a compressor in the sound demos, or is his playing just THAT consistent?
Usually there’s a subtle compressor on most sound samples
Are there any bass pedals that Gregor does NOT want? LOL! 😄
Yes, the ones I already have 😉
Gregor, wo ist dein Onkel lol Danke Rik
Obviously you have one?...🤔
Yeah, those tones are incredible. Sigh.
Doesnt sound like much at all !
Which there was a di out
Errr... each person is different, of course... but there's quite a number of crap sounds coming out of this box. Not impressed
The same thing was said about the SolidGoldFX preamp . must have!! it’s not must have it’s just another pedal
keep "GASguy" away :P
click bait titles with this channel are a thing now. keep it simple guys and don’t force
