My 22 5.7 blew with 49K miles. Dealer had done all maintenance on truck at 4000 to 4500 miles. They said it was the MDS that killed it. On the bright side they replaced the motor in 17 days and paid for my rental no questions asked. I now use the second option to shut down the MDS.
I have a 2019 Challenger with the 6.4 MDS Hemi with 30k miles on it now. I really like the MDS, my gas mileage goes from 19-20 non MDS, to 30 plus MPG as high 40-50MPG going down hills and on the level just cruising with traffic when the MDS is activated, then when I starting to climb grades the MDS will go off, don't even feel it and the MPG goes down to the 15-19 range again up the grades. I don't feal the MDS going on or off, the systems works GREAT! My only issue with my Challenger is the added cost of having to purchase Premium gas. (It's the Direct Injection and the shit building up on the top of the valves that I'm concerned about. I do run a Catch Can.)
Firstly a 6.4 Hemi does not have direct injection (they are all still port injected). Secondly - you are not getting 30mpg out of a 392 Challenger... you are smoking lots of drugs if you think you are - that momentary indication that you are getting 30mpg is not real world. To see real world mileage you need to calculate distance driven /gallons of fuel used.
Issue with cams in the ram is on the new style Hemi the cam sits higher from the crank than the older style. At low idle the cam doesn't get enough oil from the crank which wears the cam. Best way to keep your hemi going is driving it a little harder and not letting it idle alot. Once In awhile get on it. I've had a 2010, 2014 and now a 2019 no issues. A master mechanic was showing what's happening to these engines. Kinda like a diesel the shorter distance you drive and the more you idle the more problem.
I use AMSOIL 0W-40 Signature series + Lucas Low Viscosity + Mobil1 Oil Filter and this allows the oil to leave a film on the moving parts even at idle. I keep the idle times to a minimum.
Cams don't rely on splash lubrication from the crankshaft. They're not producing enough oil pressure nor quantity in the right location a.k.a. camshaft and lifters area.
Amsoil isn't any different than the Pennzoil for the tick. I have the tick, its there sometimes, and not other times. Tried both oils, used to be an Amsoil guy, really don't think it is any better than the Pennzoil that the truck calls for. Didn't do anything for engine noise.
'i bought a 2019 2500 tradesman from a dealership.. I noticed that the blower motor is weak and isn't pushing the air through the truck. Anyone else experience this???
@@lyricalprophet100 Dealership said that's how they work. But I put a shut off valve going into my heater core and cut it off in the summer and it works much better for me.
I have a Ram 3500 2021 w/6.4 Hemi. Engine was replaced at 4200 miles, four thousand two hundred. truck has had a terrible vibration in the drive line since it 2100 miles, Ram says the MDS is causing the vibration and this is normal conditions and will not repair this truck.
ECO and the MDS are entirely 2 different things and do not have to happen simultaneously.... Also you don't want to drive around in tow/haul when you are carring or towing nothing You have to know more if you are going to make videos. ECO" appears when you are driving in a fuel efficient manor. It almost always means that MDS is engaged, and you're running in 4 cylinder mode to save fuel, but there are times where "ECO" appears and the criteria to engage MDS was not met. I have no personally witnessed this - but I have noticed that sometimes MDS engages/disengages a second or so before or after ECO appears in the EVIC display.
Running in tow haul mode while empty or towing nothing does not hurt anything. All your doing is changing the shift pattern. It actually makes the truck drive much better. It will hold the gears longer and firm up your shifts. You have to know about these things before you comment.

That's good to know. Thanks for sharing the information

The 2 Diesel problems you mention is due to the emissions after treatment systems on newer Diesels and not the engine itself.

The 1 and 8 button on the steering wheel is for the gear the transmission is in. Play with it.
I was thinking my transmission was acting odd. I will try this.

Has any had a vibration coming from the rear on the same style truck

Yes especially during the summer months when using the air conditioner.
@@Wally2Feathers - Is this a common problem or just how they operate!?

YES! I ceramic tinted the who truck which helped BIG time!
To many worries, should have kept my 2016 tundra😠
I found out it just turns off the light, bummer
What exhaust?
Does your fuel milage change when you're in haul mode?
All tow/haul mode does is increase transmission line pressure and disable MDS.
That would mean, yes lol

I did my first oil change at 1,200 miles and converted to 0W-40 AMSOIL Signature Series.
@@CarReviewer-nc5bzwhat is the recommended oil that was supposed to be in this engine?
are you really getting 12 mpg? that's sad.
Good info but not the best presentation. No reason it should take almost seven minutes to explain something most people could do in 30 seconds.

Tow Haul Mode restricts high gear. As long as under 65, your just fine
That’s is 100% false! Eco light comes on when MDS activates.
Either way never goes into 8 th gear. Definitely not good for Interstate travel gas mileage. Hear you can deactivate with a programmer.
@@witkr904 It doesn't restrict high gear, not in the newer ZF transmissions. Mine goes into 8th gear all day long in tow/haul mode.
