This brings back such memories. We spent more time waiting for our song to be played on the radio just so we could tape it. Then fast forwarding or rewinding the cassette to listen to exactly what we wanted to when we wanted to. If we only knew what would be possible in our future... thanks for the good memories Sebastian. Love you and enjoy your humor immensely. 😘❤️👍🏻👩🏻‍🦰

A few months ago I put in "Birdman red pants tour bus song" and Birdman - Stunna came up as the #1 result. All you need is 4-5 good words and maybe append it with the word "lyrics" so Google can power through the trillions of matches to narrow it down. Yeah - be ready on that _Pause_ button to spin the cassette drive back up to record again - catch the song opening/intro once that DJ shut their mouth or those radio station call letters had played out. 😄👍
🤔 Am recollecting sometime in maybe the late 90s / early 200Xs at, IIRC, Circuit City when I saw a Sony _car stereo_ demo that would record the radio broadcast onto the USB thumbdrive you'd plugged into its (removable?) faceplate whereas it had a ~5-10 second buffer that was always loaded with the previous seconds prior to pressing [record] on it... You'd never be late to starting the recording. 😳 Mind was blown! 🤯
If only something like that was around back when wanting to record live/concert broadcasts of Radio-1 years earlier from the radio for those awaited, dedicated evenings organized for recording at home.... Could have done recordings while out around town in the car once having wired the car stereo to ~"ignore" the ignition switch shut-off to retain uninterrupted power to save recording interruptions, eliminate micro-managing and piece-mealing the task.🧐😉😄

Oh lord, do I remember those days. Putting my cassette tape into that slot on my boom box waiting for a song the DJ promised was coming up right after the commercial break, only to have to wait another ten minutes to hear the song! What's even worse is that you have to go to the bathroom in the middle of recording said song. Oh boy! But the worst and I mean the WORST part of having cassette tapes is that the tape strip would get tangled and you had to get a pen or pencil to manually untangle it only to have to use your pen/pencil to rewind the now untangled tape strip to the way it was before that all that happened. If you were a young kid during those days then you understand my pain! The younger kids/adults will never ever understand what we went through.

And that’s why the DJ always introduced the songs over the top of the song intro. Had to record Sundays full album play on KLOS and KROQ’s top 100 for the year.

You’re so right with the cassette into the radio cassette box waiting for the song to play, either I got 3/4 from the beginning OR the DJ would talk over it at the beginning or at the end, messing up the recording!🤣

I'm gradually replacing all my records and cassettes with CDs, and mp3s, but I wish I had the money to buy a record player and have vinyl too.

In the 70’s loved Bachman Turner Overdrive and heard “Blue Collar” one afternoon. For weeks at home had the cassette loaded and ready never played again. Finally about 1AM called WLIR in Garden City Long Island and actually got the de to pick up the request line and asked him to play it he immediately knew the song by BTO and said “Dude great choice will spin it” and he did. Sebastian sure brings back memories.
