I've said it before, I absolutely love the low stakes, tons of table talk games between these two players. I've learned a lot about playing Magic just watching these guys.
Agreed, the table talk is a great learning tool!
The only thing I like more is Serge’s facial expressions in the thumbnails!
Agree, it's very fun. I love watching the highlander folk play magic.
It didn't matter in the end, but game 3 on the turn Serge cycled Sheltered Thicket and played Steam Vents tapped, he didn't cast any spells, so it should have become night on Wheeler's, flipping the werewolf and allowing him to swing for exactly lethal on his turn instead of only for 5. Again, it didn't matter in the end but at least this comment is E N G A G E M E N T
Same for the Eldritch Evolution hitting the graveyard.
I feel like they should rename this series from "North 100 Showdown" to "Did I Leave That Out Of My Deck?"
Saffi Eriksdottir is somewhere right now hanging out with Questing Beast and checking their respective watches.
Ive never played Canlander but
I love this show so much
I love seeing such a wealth of decks from such an exciting format
And I love these hosts!
I've watched every single one of this series so far and it's so fun to watch Wheeler and Serge talk out their turns and what lines they could take. It makes me so happy to see such a relaxed and laidback look at high powered decks and gameplay. I've been a casual MtG player for a long time and high tier gameplay has always seemed pretty inaccessible and, frankly, boring to me due to how a game can end at the drop of a hat. But just the explanation and discussion of mechanics and gameplay in a casual environment like this makes it very fun to watch. Thank you for this!
Finally!! We get to determine once and for all who is the Premier Lands Pilot of the format! 😄
We definitely know who the premier Questing Beast Pilot is
Can you say that off of one video though, when it still comes down to statistical chance?
@@NocteLepusX you killed it, the joke is dead
@@mediocritysbest6220 Guess it wasn’t a good joke then.
@@NocteLepusXvictim blaming much!
I am glad we had this match to finally put to rest who is the Premier Lands Pilot of the format. Congrats Beej! :D
It's nice to see Beej can still find time to play some Canlander inbetween managing the best format, Beejlander
One of the things I like best about Serge is he is a fan of cool Magic moments. Winning and losing seems secondary to just seeing cool things happen in Magic, especially in this setting. Great attitude.
I am just happy to be getting weekly Canlander content! This series is great and I love getting to see such a variety of decks
For real guys I love North 100 I love North 100 showdown everytime it's posted I try to watch it right away! Despite having super high powered cards you guys still have a casual fun time with friends which is lost on so much other magic content thank you guys for having cultivating an amazing community!
I haven't played MTG in years, but I'm loving this, and it's fast becoming my favourite series.
Two good mates, playing relaxed rounds of a game they both love. With excellent commentary, showing their strategic thinking.
I absolutely love this series! I really enjoy the table talk, Ben and Serge are awesome people, Canlander is so good. Thank you for making this.
This was a fun series to watch! All the Canadian highlander gameplay videos lately have been great
I've never played this format and I don't have any immediate plans to, but this series has been fantastic in making me feel like I have a general understanding of what it's like
Lands is the first deck archetype I really zeroed-in on learning and routing(via Windgrace Lands in EDH) so I'm all-in for this one. Absolutely love seeing high-end tech for the archetype.
It’s good to see the premiere lands player of the format back in action
the foil Gush that's masquerading as a Tainted Pact in Wheeler's deck, by the way, is apparently a 135-dollar card. MMQ commons, I tell ya.
21:20 - "Graveyard order's IMPECCABLE" when he forgot to exile Eldritch Evolution
Very excited to watch the premier lands pilot of the format!
It's always good to see the premier lands pilot of the format in action
This sort of content gets me so engaged! Great series
the questing beast whiff 😭
Now that they gave us full art omnath, I’m looking forward to full text questing beast when Wilds of Eldraine comes out
Wheeler is a cartoon character stuck in flesh.
I absolutely love this extra North 100 content. So happy this is part of the regular upload schedule nowadays :)
the most awkward part of wrenn and seven running into 6 at a party would be that 6 got melted in the blind eternities
other than that I think W6 split on good terms
it's cute you think anyone splits on good terms
@@clelvis225 plenty of mature people who are able to process decisions circumstances and feelings, as well as talk about them with their partners split amicably
Love to see The Premiere Lands Pilot of the Format do their thing.
Really love this show Serge and Ben. Keep it up. We luv ya
I absolutely love this series! The more Canlander, the better.
I love this series so much. Just proxied up a deck and looking forward to playing it with a friend soon.
I like that we're getting the mirror match! Good stuff as always.
I really appreciate just how little of his deck Wheeler left at home!
I just love sometimes that I can just heard Ben Ulmer giggling in the background.
Even if I'm not interested in playing the format itself, I always love watching these
Sure is nice how Wheeler managed to remember to bring all his cards
so cool to see the premiere lands pilot of the format here
Love this content. The Spring Leaf Avenger play was hot
These are so good and that was such a great game to watch more please!
I think this is the first game I've watched where the lands have lasted less time than the manadorks
You know between this and Elder Dragon Social Club I’m all on board with these seperate magic shows. Give me more of this champagne content
wheeler got that papa smurf swag
The most watchable paper magic ever
Do you have the McNeill cards because they're cheaper than the ones by an artist that's not someone like Harold, or...? :^)
Ah, I love watching the premier lands pilot of the format!
Wheeler in the middle of game 2: "I'm losing this race..."
[SIEGE RHINO HAS ENTERED THE CHAT]
While I decided long ago that I had no interest in actually playing Canlander, I really enjoy watching it. The fast paced, sudden punchiness of this format makes it super interesting, but I’m of the weird opinion that if the game doesn’t get to at least turn 16 was it really worth shuffling for? I need each game to be several hours of back and forth.
Would love to see a 4c elementals deck in canlander!
Serge respecting the old legend rule wrt his hand is the content we need more of in this world.
This makes me miss playing Legacy. I played Abzan (before “Abzan”) Loam. I had a buddy who would say that if everyone played Knight of the Reliquary like I did, it would have been banned. It was an exaggeration, but it was flattering. 😊
18:12 isn't the new tech to just rotate anything with knight into Yavimaya and then just start looping radiant fountains (assuming you have a crucible effect)? ;)
Serge "Where's my Questing Beast" Yager
Was there not a mistake in the last game? It should have become night at the beginning of Ben's turn, flipping the werewolf and giving him the extra point of damage to win. Serge only played a land and cycled a land, casting no spells.
Question, do you guys run any domain cards in those 3.5 color decks?
these videos bring me so much joy. btw, lands vs. lands is hardcore magic.
Is there some special synergy about Questing Beast in these decks that I'm not realizing? Specifically for lands? Or is it just being played cause it's a efficient beater to close the game with?
QB is just a phenomenal card that excels at clearing up the board
Its synergy is that it kills your opponent. Very quickly.
This show could be daily, and I'd still watch.
Not sure how feasible this is, but it would be interesting to see Wheeler and Serge swap decks, highlighting each player's strategy and their different lines for each decks. (Not just for this matchup, but for future ones too)
Springleaf avenger for lethal is absolutely chefs kiss immaculate
This is the kind of content I enjoy increasing the metrics of.
Uhm, is there even a window to counter Deathrite Shaman with Endurance? Isn't that a Mana ability that cannot be reacted to?
I thought so too but apparently not! Ruling: “Because the first ability requires a target, it is not a mana ability. It uses the stack and can be responded to.”
The exiling is part of the ability and not a cost, which I didn’t realize.
In game 1, how was Serge able to play the endurance when he did? I thought mana abilities weren't able to be responded to.
Deathrite Shaman isn't a mana ability because it targets.
Love this content!!! Hope to see mono white D&T soon!
This is all amazing, but I do miss Friday Nights and hope it will be back soon.
The neoform that was foretold at the preprerelease
How could you respond to the deathrite shaman mana activation with an endurance? It is a mana ability and should not use the stack. Was that a miss play or am I misunderstanding something?
Stupidly late reply that you won't care about now but I'm going to do anyway: deathrite's ability isnt a mana ability because it has a target, so it does use the stack and can be responded to
Never klicked so fast
We will finally know who's the premiere lands pilot in the format
The questing beast incident of 2022
Truly lovin these
This was some great content, the lands mirror was great
This is the content I been waiting for
Love this show, love these people
Ninjas, lands, and recursion. What is not to love?
I want to thank surge for getting the night is young stuck in my head for multiple days now...🙃
Actually curious on the rules for deathrite. Does the exile a land ability count as a mana ability? and if it does can it be responded to? I legit have no idea
It's not a mana ability. One of the restrictions for being a mana ability is not targeting.
Because it targets, it is not a mana ability.
@@Ninjamanhammer Ohhh thats so neat thank you
@@Sugarman96 Gotcha. Thanks for the update
@@galleadden And even though you didn't ask, the other caveat is that the ability also can't be a loyalty ability.
Fantastic stuff
I NEEEEEEEED more canlander content!!
good thing wheeler remembered all his cards!
Love the highlander content keep it up
Terrific games
What is the difference between this and normal commander
ruclips.net/video/sLo76slMBAQ/видео.html
Players 3 and 4,
No commanders, 20 life, points list instead of ban list, no companions, no color identity, 2 players
Honestly surprised Ben's deck isn't landless lands
"you feel like you own a card because you've played it". This is a HUGE problem for me as someone that primarily plays Arena 🤣
Wheeler taxing the printer ink budget this week.
I mean this as no offense but I only know Benjamin as "that guy who played blue white control and beat Graham's mono green deck in one of the last episodes of Friday Nights".
I'm just happy to be here
Lands, lands, lands!!!
I would watch any game that is Wheeler vs Serge
Gonna be a but harsh but honest here, having the wrong cards in the decks lessens the experience a bit for me personally. Just a note.
10/10 intro
this is weird for me to watch because I play no blue lands midrange. This is basically an episode of my two dads
56:50 Hey! WAITAMINNIT!
57:00 oh, ok.
So many lands, so many elves
I love this
Wheeler's g1t3 was insanity
*In wish two people forget a lot of cards at home for various reasons*
ENGAGEMENT MIGHTY ALGORITHM
No Oracle of Mul Daya either serge
I don't think you play it these days anymore
@@StummeL2208 really ok? I just thought it sits perfectly at 4
@@scotturquhart8567 its a hart guess but I think you don't really need more mana acceleration at 4 cmc. Sounds like win more at this point. 4 mana can just straight up kill your op these days. .... but don't take my word for granted 😅
@@StummeL2208 thank you I always considered oracle and the 3 mana one must haves in lands
Yeah its probably just not doing enough at 4 mana. Though in more combo focused versions of lands you probably want it since you're not trying to fit in more threats.
God bless North 100.
I missed the memo, did everyone else besides these two quit Canlander?
No, this is just its own show where these two mess around with decks they like
@@yesman12345ful What happened to the small tourney/show they used to run with the rest of the CanLander folks?
@@Kevin187z1 Pandemic really hurt a lot of their options to safely run them.
I think they're slowly returning. We already saw Alex, Ben Ulmer and Nelly playing Canlander in the FNPF and Nelly also became a new co-host of North100. Cam is frequently present in the Gladiator streams, so he might come back to Canlander at some point.
buy 2 yugioh structure decks and play those for fun
