Man it didn’t get there but watching Nelly and his deck just stop Serge from winning for so long when he had it in his hand multiple times was absolutely fascinating. Well played by all, but hot damn Nelson. Hot damn.

Nelly showed me this deck years ago and I loved it because I am on the highest dosage of mono black control copium. I've been cooking up something new myself that I can't wait to show him in exchange

I really love LRR's adoption of the term "Advantage Muffin" its a very clean, irreverent, way of talking objectively about games where the "stakes have never been lower".

Conflating is such a good word.
One extra consideration for Serge's tutoring choice in game 1: Nelly is restrained on black, meaning if he does have removal for the eidolon, he's not advancing his gameplan, and Serge will pull ahead slightly so long as he doesn't rip straight lands.

They talked about missing the Wolfwillow Haven line, all on the same turn as Razorverge Thicket entered untapped as the fourth land. Paper magic is beautiful lol
As someone else pointed out, Serge only controlled three lands and an aura at that time so it entered untapped correctly.
@@SilverBordered Yeah, it's why I try to NOT tap auras and equipment attached to permanents.
@@kevinwestermann1001 I agree with you. That, and with Wheeler when he voices his dislike for using dice to represent P/T on things that aren't counters. My Constructs will remain dice-less, thank you.

Question about the Enchantments deck: With Sanctum Weaver in the deck, would Gauntlets of Light be a consideration? It's an Infinite Mana combo.
I love Serge, Nelly, and Wheeler equally. I did miss the full Wheeler intro though.

I'm always wondering when I watch these...what brand of dice does LRR use? They look like a good size, in solid colours with nice big numbers.

I think wishclaw for opposition agent with the knowledge Serge was loaded with tutors is probably correct IMO. You control the tutor, and potentially get a play from Serges deck. Serge can't do fetch loops anymore, and sort of needs to kill the Agent. Looking through the list, you probably get the one mana protection creature. Which saves your Sheoldred next turn (not that you'd know that info yet) from swords.
Yeah I’ll admit going over this game again myself this line seems legit. Oh well. Next time

Does anyone else get tilted why people tap their land enchantments when making mana with said land? IT DOESNT TAP
Sadly at around 57:45 surge taps serra's sanctum for 1 with 0 enchantments for the journey to nowhere. Unfortunate, but these things happen.

I had to check the deck list but I was saddened that Nelly wasn’t running Tourach, he’d have a been a great tutor target on multiple occasions

After the reset in the third game it became clear pretty quickly that the enchantress deck has a certain level of inevitability that you just can't beat.

I think i missed a step in game two. How did Serge make infinite mana?
Crucible+Fastbond+Courser = unlimited land plays from the graveyard for 0 life. Tap plains for W, Stripmine my own plains, replay them both, repeat = infinite W.
Huh, they actually errata'd Enchantress's Presence to say cast, not play. Otherwise you'd be able to draw a card off of Urza's Saga, since it's the only enchantment you play but not cast.
Game 2, how is Serge able to play infinite lands? I see the ramanup excavator, but how does he have infinite land drops? 37:34
Serge can activate strip mine targeting one of his tapped lands, then replay them both untapped with Fastbond.

Game 3 after that weird storm turn/reset - you're ahead on tempo and you have Serra's Sanctum, you just start strip mining and he runs out of cards. I mean you win anyways but that black deck was built weiiiiird.....nowhere near enough removal.
I love Serge, but I think Serge asking for removal spells in hand should be on the bingo list 😂

Fun fact: Serge did not need to. He could have added WW with Serra's Sanctum and B with his fetchland thanks to Nelly's Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth to cast his Mesa Enchantress for 1WW. But he might have been carried away. :p
@@kevinwestermann1001 I’m confused about your reply. When he cast finale of devastation he put it in the graveyard, the card instructs you to shuffle it in to the deck as part of resolution. I’m not sure that the available mana has any bearing on that effect?
@@xander_man Oh, there was a moment where Serge had a Courser of Kruphix in play that revealed a Finale of Devastation. Serge opted to use his fetchland and thus shuffled the Finale away. I thought you referred to that. (:
@@xander_man I think you're confusing Finale with Green Sun's Zenith. GSZ shuffles itself in but Finale doesn't, it was correct to put into the graveyard.

Couldn't ever afford to make a decent canlander deck, so i use Sege and Nelly as my spirit animals.
No points red is a reasonable deck and not super expensive. Also, just proxy the deck with pen and paper. Canlander players want to play games more than anything else. No one will care if your cards are real and cost thousands of dollars or if they are a piece of scrap paper with mox Ruby written on it shoved in a sleeve with a basic land
